Their idea of AC is a fan that barely works.

The hotel itself was nice, clean and comfortable. They say there’s parking, but aren’t clear about where. I parked (illegally) and ran inside to find out where we could park. There was a line at reception so I asked the guy working at the bar about parking (it wasn’t opened yet). He said questions should go to reception and walked away. It turns out parking is across the street, but be prepared to carry your suitcase up stairs, unless there’s a way to get to the hotel from the garage that they never bothered to tell me.

I booked this hotel because it was advertised as having air conditioned rooms. The reality is that, only the reception area and the lifts have got air conditioning. I was unable to sleep for two nights because the temperature in my room was hotter than it was outside. The staff kindly offered two different rooms but they were equally hot if not hotter. Although they refunded me for the unused nights, I felt that it was not fair to charge for nights that I haven’t been able to sleep. One pays for a hotel to ‘sleep’ so if the guest is unable to sleep because the hotel room is unfit for purpose then it is not fair to charge that guest.

The three rooms that I had seen and stayed at were very dated, the beds were small, and the bathrooms did not look fresh. The rooms were also very dusty, the carpets were stained and the kettles were dirty. If there is one positive thing about this hotel, the location is convenient as it is close to the cafes and restaurants. However, Manheim is such a small place that everything is within walking distance anyway.

I only stayed here for the last day of my trip but I likely wouldn’t stay here again. The hotel is old but beautiful, there was a very smokey smell as well but I understand this is often an issue, my issue was the a/c in the room wasn’t working and staff insisted that it did. So instead of offering to switch the room or accommodate they just repeatedly gave me the same instructions.

Hotel's location is unbeatable next to the Water Tower, the fountain, and many good cafes. The room was spacious and comfortable and clean. The bar off the lobby is old-school with great cocktails and service. The price was right. The front desk was friendly. The decor is classic and well-maintained. Street parking is easy, and the railway station is close by. We will be returning.

This place is beyond outdated and old. Their computer system and check in process was beyond inconvenient for me! I booked and paid through Expedia and they claimed that I didn’t when I was getting ready to check out. They were trying to charge my credit again for an outrageous amount of money. When I showed them my phone/ proof of booking online they claimed it wasn’t showing on their computer system. Their computer system is outdated and their customer service is nonexistent! Go to a more modern and updated hotel. They also have zero amenities and their rooms are covered in dust and grime! Disgusting!

Our impression was that the hotel had a lot of charm but could use some updates. We stayed for two nights in the family room. We liked the feather pillows, the small refrigerator and the general space of the room. However we felt new carpet and some repairs on the furnishings would be beneficial. The bathroom in general could use some updating but to add to that, upon arrival the toilet paper roll was practically empty and there was only one tissue in holder. We liked the large balcony but found it strange there was no furniture to sit on. Our favorite part was the pool, which we were lucky to have completely to ourselves. I think my biggest complaint would be that there was no coffee machine (I believe due to Covid).

This is a wonderful hotel with a customer service staff! The building is over 100 years old but impeccably maintained. Very clean and safe. The bar area is very quiet and the barmaid attentive; lobby has a very comfortable sitting area. Our room was very nice and had everything we needed. The hotel faces a very nice city park and the tram stop is only a two minute walk from the front door. Bahnhof is a 15 minute walk. I would seriously recommend the Maritime for anyone visiting Mannheim or even Heidelberg (19 minutes by train; 40 minutes by tram). If you stay here you absolutely will NOT be disappointed!

This hotel needs to be dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st Century. While it’s very classical, there is no excuse of not having enough sockets or a card entry system for the room!

The mattresses need to be rotated as they were convex where you found your self on the edge of the bed!

Despite all that, the location is ideal and right in the city centre. Staff are very helful.

This is a grand old lady of an hotel built in 1900. We upgraded and had a beautiful room on the corner with a little balcony. It was very hot there and so so many windows were great for a breeze. We overlooked the famous water tower and the park. Opposite with some lovely bars/restaurants is a very beautiful reds tone building. The fountains in the gardens are lovely. If you go to Mannheim definitely stay there. If you want to use the coffee machine you need to turn the main light switch on. Only small complaint about housekeeping day 1 we both had holes in our towels and the coffee cups saucers and spoons had not been washed. Other than that it was lovely.

This is an older hotel that specializes in functions (weddings, meetings, etc.) The rooms basic and not recently updated, but the price and location are good. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. The bar staff was overworked but friendly and the bar is a comfortable place to hang out and have a drink or a lite meal. Rooms on the small side, with few amenities, but beds comfortable. Windows open, and that made a real difference since we were up on the top (5th/6th) floor and it was warm in Mannheim during our stay and the air conditioners weren't working yet. The pool is very nice, and the sauna (5 euro) is great for getting over jet lag. Breakfast in the hotel is included for some room rates and the buffet is ample and delicious. One (of two) elevators not functioning so we took the stairs a few times. In-room hairdryer broken and apparently not fixable. Shampoo and soap provided but would appreciate condtioner and moisturizer. Nice shower.

Better ventilation please!

The location of this hotel is excellent, just a few minutes walk from the main train station, and across the road from a lovely urban park. The outside looks amazing and the staff on reception were great. I had a single room, which was quite small, but sufficient for my needs.
The pool was very good: warm, clean, well maintained.
All rooms have free wi-fi, which is excellent, and the speed/reliability was OK.
The bar area was good, and the breakfast had just about everything you could ever want to eat for breakfast!
I have really only got one issue with the place, and that is the lack of ventilation/air-conditioning. My bathroom had no ventilation at all, so any steam from the shower went straight into the room (I imagine that any unpleasant smells from the bathroom would go the same way). And, on a 'warm'(not 'hot') April day, the room was absolutely stiffling. I opened the window as soon as i arrived, but the room temperature never really improved, which resulted in a very poor night's sleep.
I liked the place, and would probably stay there again next time i'm in the area, but please try to improve temperature control!

I gave 1 for service because of one receptionist (woman with short yellow hair) who was not helpfull and was mean. I have not seen that kind of service for a long time. We were tehre for wedding and we were late and I was asking receptionist just one small thing - to give me my room key (room keys are very heavy, so we were leaving them at the reception) as we were late for the dinner. But she was speaking on phone for 10 minutes and fter was checking in one more customer. I was really polite in the beginning and begging for the key (it takes 2 seconds to give the key) but she on purpose was asking me to wait. And it is hotel for WEDDINGS, so why they are not taking care of that? Other receptionists (men) were really very and very helpfull and friendly, except that lady. And that's why it is score is one.

Christmas Market Visit

Great central location. Convenient to the Christmas Markets. Be sure to visit the one at Paraden Platz and near the Englehorn Department store on N1 street. Both are better than the one across from the hotel at the Water Tower (Wasserturm). Be aware there is construction next door. They are building a new museum building. I didn't hear any noise within the hotel, but my room was on the opposite end. Location is convenient to the Mannheim gay bars and cafes - if that is your thing. And there is a Starbucks just across the street and several German bakeries in short walking distance. Main Train station is also within easy walking distance

Booked through hotels.com and got a room which was closer to prison than to hotel room. Very small, not enough room to hang my shirts or leave my things.The view was really perfect, but no use of it when you use the hotel room for sleeping only. Hotel is well positioned, but outdated. Reception desk takes ages to process customers, and if there are more than 2 people, you can count on 10 minutes waiting. The room key and keychain are huge, so it is very unpractical to carry arround.

Hotel is conveniently located in old building not far from main train station. Room was pretty spacious and comfortable. From other hand there are visible signs that hotel requires some renovation, i.e. furniture is worned out, air conditioning is 30 y.o. design and pretty noisy, old style small tv set, wired internet and no free wifi. The good stuff is that breakfast was really nice, however price for breakfast is little bit too much. Overall my stay was not bad, however I would expect more quality for price I paid and next time will search another better equipped hotel.

I had a wonderful experience at the hotel. I arrived early and they let me go to my room. Easy check-in. One of the two elevators took me up to the 4th floor with ease, I didn’t have too much luggage. Just the carry on that was packed till the stiches started popping. I don’t like to have check-in luggage when I travel that way the airlines can’t lose it. I did have a backpack for all the trinkets I bought and that T-shirt, “My parents went to Germany and all they got me was this T-shirt”. Rooms were adequate in size. Not as big as in the states. But then you spend most of your time out and need the room to sleep and wash-up. Bed was very well kept and comfortable. I can never get a pillow I like so I can’t say anything on that. Bathroom was very clean. It had a hair dryer, 2 soap dispensers, a glass cup and towels. The TV was the old single tube type.. but there again I didn’t watch TV plus it was all in German, “Imagine that!”. They did have a USA today paper in English at the front desk. The room had a mini bar with a price list and room service. I am not too sure of the hours but the service was there if you got hungry. The room I was staying in was facing the back but still had a view of some nice buildings and the window worked. The room stayed cool and when the temperature dropped all of a sudden on my last day was nice and warm so when I got out of the shower I didn’t freeze my toes off. The room was cleaned every day very early, so get up and out before they knock on

Starbucks is right across the street - so having no coffee in the room is not that big of a deal. However, having to pay for internet is a problem for most of us. Most of us are connect 24/7 and having to pay for it was a bit much. I do recommend that you get the 30 day unlimited through T-mobile. It's the best deal, there are others for 10 hours or one day, but beleive me, you'll use the internet if you are searching for where to go eat, visit, etc. It's worth the 34,95 euro. We didn't eat at the hotel, you are just across the street from lots of great shopping and restuarants, the tram and down the street from the main train station. Overall, it was a pleasant stay and a great location!

Overpriced -- especially for Mannheim. It probably would have been nicer if we had a view of the park. I stayed with my wife and daughter, and we had a \"superior\" double room. The size of the room was fine, but they stuck us in the back corner of the second floor overlooking a dreary courtyard. The furniture and interior was very old and worn. The whole hotel smells vaguely of cigarette smoke, but I understand that may not be uncommon for German hotels of this vintage.

Why have to complain?

Poor service

We arrived late but still before midnight. The hotel booking was done through hotels.com, or Expedia. We booked 3 single rooms and once arrived the hotel told us only 2 rooms were available and we had no choice to share one of the room. Not really friendly service.

Smokers Only in Mannheim

The Maritim Parkhotel is a recently remodeled, elegant old hotel on the main square in Mannheim. For conventions and business, the hotel couldn't be better located, with the convention center a block away and dozens of restaurants withing two or three blocks. Rooms are handsomely appointed and bedding and bathrooms are very comfortable. Breakfast, while expensive, is outstanding and a good value. Internet service was expensive for a very slow connection. Most seriously, even the \"non-smoking\" rooms smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke. While I'm not usually very sensitive to smoke, my room was saturated to the point that I developed a cough, itchy eyes and had trouble sleeping. My clothes smelled of cigarettes all day after I had hung them in the room's closet overnight. The smoke wasn't just in my room. Several other conference attendees staying in different rooms on different floors in the hotel had the same experience and I noticed smoke multiple times when I visited my colleagues' rooms to work. Indeed, posters in the hotel lobby advertise the hotel to smokers as smoker-friendly. Unfortunately, that means that, despite the positives, any nonsmokers should look for other accommodations.
