Great clean room right on the border of town. Parking was near the hotel under building next door. Breakfast was fantastic. Super easy to walk to all the shops and Christmas night markets. Highly recommend as I got such a good price!

We stayed at this hotel for four nights to visit the Christmas markets in and around Stuttgart. The location is very convenient, practically in the city center. We walked to all the markets, but only drove to the Mercedes Museum. The hotel has its own paid parking, which is recommended to reserve in advance, which we did, but we arrived one evening and found all the spaces taken. However, the man at reception (unfortunately, I didn't get his name) quickly helped us resolve this issue by telling us where we could park in the nearest lot. As compensation for the inconvenience, we were waived for three days of hotel parking, for which we are extremely grateful. The breakfasts are very good, and the rooms are comfortable. We highly recommend this hotel.

The location is good. Central but quiet. The room was a nice size. Loved the breakfast.
I was missing a minibar to cool drinks. And I felt that the staff, although super friendly, didn’t keep track of the order. All in all was a nice stay.

The friendly, professional and organized staff was everything at this hotel. The awesome staff helps one overlook the worn but clean and cared for spaces. We were a large and demanding group (20 people) but they treated us all fairly every time. In our experience this was the best service we have ever experienced travel with this world wide travel group for the past 20 years.

Comfortable and welcoming

In the middle of the bustling city centre and parking onsite too.
Staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was comfortable as was the bed and the hotel was very modern.
Breakfast was very tasty and the choice very good.
If we go back to Stuttgart, we shall definitely be staying here again.

I am so very pissed at Hotel.com for not going to back to us. We are aravided at this hotel and hard to park in the public garage down the street. Get out of the car to walk up hallways filled with drug needles and trash everywhere. Go into the hotel and check in. Get to our room and instant smell of urine in the room. The room was dirty, smelled and the sheets where dirty. This hotel was disgusting. We left with in 10 minunites and told the front desk this is unacceptable and want out money back. They told use that's fine but we need to contact hotels.com. We leave I book a new hotel with hotels.com and the moment in the new room I contact hotels.com to explain. They got back to me 5 days later and just offering me a $25 credit. I think this is crap. For someone who travels as must as we do and use Hotels.com for every room this is crappy service and a hotel that shouldnt be listed.

Lovely city centre hotel. Room was cosy but comfortable with everything we needed for a 2 night stay.
Very central - easy access to public transport.
Staff were very helpful - giving us ideas of places to visit including Killesberg park and the Jazz Open events.
Excellent buffet breakfast too.

The hotel is just off the main shopping area so there are lots of places to get food and drinks nearby. It was also within walking distance of the massive christmas market (this was one of the reason I chose it).
On first view the inside of the hotel looks quite dated - lots of dark wood everywhere. Reception staff were pleasant and helpful.We were given a room at the front of the hotel on the first floor. On the way up, the hallway carpet looked threadbare but on closer inspection if was just a very strange pattern that made it look like that,
The room and bathroom were spacious and clean but again a bit dated with the wood effect, although peerfectly adequte. Free bottles of water were provided every day. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel (16 euros per person) instead we went to the bakery at the end of the street that had a seating area.
Overall a good expereince

What's the main purpose for staying in a hotel? Sleeping of course. Can't be done very well if the beds are hard as a rock. Also, can't be done if so much construction is being done that it sounds like a thunderstorm outside your window and not any good thunderstorms that let you sleep either.

The property had real character and the staff were very helpful, which I appreciate. The location was very convenient too for exploring central Stuttgart by foot. However, a few things in my room didnt really work - the shower pressure was so low and temperature of the water inconsistent, and some of the plug sockets didnt work. With some maintenance this place could be great!

Seems recently renovated, very clean. The decor and design is original 60's very cool. Its great that a hotel renovated but didn't rip out the original fittings but instead restored everything The bar is very special original design. Its not one of these new boutique hotels that tried to look cool. This place is the original, very cool. Rooms clean and comfortable, excellent place!

The room was fine but staff very average not that welcoming at all. No idea where the spa was as no one told us and the bar area was soulless no atmosphere at all
Breakfast looked ok but all the bread and croissants were pre baked rather than fresh from the bakery- Fruit salads looked liked they’d been made up a while ago and the girl serving coffee was as miserable as anything she didn’t smile or welcome us at all. It’s a average hotel definitely not 4*

Aufzug Außer Betrieb (Erneuerung). Die Fernbedienung des Fernseher funktionierte nicht (dreimal von 3.OG zur Rezeption gelaufen bis die Fernbedienung ausgetauscht wurde).
Der Fernseher hat sich alle 5-10 Minuten ausgeschaltet und musste jedes mal neu gestartet werden, man wollte sich diesem Problem annehmen leider ist es beim wollte geblieben. Das Bad hatte keine Dusche nur eine Badewanne mit Duschvorhang.

Our major issue was the parking.. On-site parking that is outside behind the hotel with overflow in a basement garage. The issue is, it is down a steep ramp and immediately at the base of the ramp is a tight turn into the garage of about 6 or so spaces. Issue is, cars are parked in the first of 6 spots! Making that turn off the ramp ridiculous. We hit our rental car into the pole, and in my 10 years of dating my partner, I have never seen him hit anything else behind the wheel.
Still paid 18 euros for parking!

The staff at Hotel Royal were outstanding. Due to some travel plans falling through and despite us requiring multiple extensions/repeated last minute bookings over 5 days, they helped to secure accomodation for my friend and I for all but 1 night, due to being sold out. We were very happy with the older style rooms which had character and comfort combined.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in the heart of Stuttgart-Mitte. The bars and restaurants in the area are incredible.

Wasn't really a fan of the room as it was dated but the bedding is newer, quality and really comfortable so getting sleep was easy and that'sthe singke most important thing for me. The WORST experience ever! Beside that the hotel is very very old…the water in our room (shower) was dirty! It was all yellowish/brown. We couldn’t take a shower because it was disgusting! The room smelled bad and sheets had hair from other person!
I can’t believe we pay for a room like that!
Hotels.con shouldn’t have this hotel in the page because it so so bad.

I would call this a remodeled 70's hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and i believe had been updated but looked like something from the 70's or early 80's. The location is great though especially for the Christmas Market. I do not know the last time I used a real key to lock and unlock my hotel door. The hallway carpets are worn and dirty. I would call this an intereating hotel but it worked for accessibility to the Christmas Market.

More than Fine for the Price

Nice but basic hotel, no safe or iron and ironing board in the room and the tv didn't work, but they fixed it as soon as I informed the front desk. We were in the annex across the road which seemed to be a block of flats, but that was fine. The rooms were cleaned immediately upon leaving, which was great service! This is nothing luxurious, but I don't think it pretends to be. I was more than happy with it for the rate we paid. The staff at reception were very polite and helpful.

We stayed one night, and it was pretty comfortable. Great location, and cool hotel with its old fashioned decor. Something between 70’s Germany and a Wes Anderson movie.
Staff was friendly, good breakfast, good facilities (parking and pet friendly).
Only one minor point of improvement: no plugs by the bed (only one on one side): everyone has lots of tech these days, that needs charging.

A little less than I expected

It was bit of a walk from the Main Train station to the hotel; and the Hotel it's self was actually in two sepeate biulds acorss the street from each other. I wasn't in the main biulding. Having said that, the room was very clean, had quality furnishings and quiet; however a bit over priced. Breafast was also not included in my package as I had expected but was a reasonable price as an add-on upon checking in. Very nice area for shopping, entertainment, and food.
