The hotel was a bit dated with a small room . Not was i was hoping for. The pool was very nice . Some staff were very nice and others were totally not wanting to do anything for you .
Quite a ways out of the centre so required getting bus into town .

The pro is really the pool and sauna, though the wellness rooms are not hot enough. More like a business hotel especially if you have a car but if you like us prefer to walk it’s up a steep hill.

For starters, the picture in the ad is deceiving. The hotel looks nothing like it and is actually situated in a bland 60s apartment building. The rooms are small, dark and a bit on the smelly side. Opt out of the breakfast buffet, the nearest gas station will have better variety.
The staff on the other hand was excellent.

We stayed at Hotel Azenberg for three nights. The staff were very friendly at check in and had treats ready for our kids, which is always a hit. The hotel itself is set back in a densely populated area, so the streets are narrow and lined with cars. Luckily, there was visible signage guiding us to the hotel.

Parking - the parking lot is tiny and quickly fills up. If you are lucky enough to get a spot, the fee is 7 Euro per night. We got a spot in the lot the first night but not the second two nights, so we were told by the staff to park on a different street then walk back to the hotel. The street parking comes with the risk of ticketing from 6 am - 8 pm. So, if you are renting a car, this may not be your best choice.

The hotel was clean and the room was comfortable. There was a little play area outside for the kids and an indoor pool as well. They had robes, pool towels and slippers for all of us waiting in our room, along with chocolates and water, all complimentary. We had plenty of space and the hotel felt very cozy. The bar was open 24/7 and they had a full breakfast for an additional fee.

Although this hotel is slightly out of town, it is located in a beautiful, leafy residential area. We really enjoyed the 15 minute walk into the city, although there were public transport options if required. The staff were extremely helpful at all times. It was nice to have the option of a pool, although it was a little cold!
The breakfast was essential, as there is nowhere else near, but it was good value and there was plenty of choice. All in all we really enjoyed our stay.

Fun hotel in the university area. Not too far from everything down in Schillerplatz. Museum is about four blocks away etc. Rooms are clean (but on the smaller side). Breakfast was great and the wait staff were attentive and helpful.

The hotel is hard to find and if you have big suitcases and don't want to get a taxi it makes it hard work. Staff were very friendly. Room was nice but very small once you had 2 big suitcases in. No aircon !! Small pool and the fitness room is a joke.

We had a quadruple room - two double beds. We had requested a double and two singles, but since one person did not come at the last minute, this was okay. The second bed was in an alcove near the windows with two chairs and a table. Gummi bear packages were left for us each night. The breakfast buffet was expensive, but had a large variety and was very good. The breakfast room was lovely. We arrived late at night and hungry. When we asked about getting something to eat, we were directed to the breakfast room where we were given a menu and were able to order a snack that was then charged to our room. The staff gave us driving directions.

Hotel is in an upscale residential area. Not really convenient to town or the Christmas Market unless you like to walk several blocks to the bus stop. Staff was nice but not terribly accommodating. Rather Germania in its application of rules.

Nice place, except for the construction noise

I would have been happy with my stay at the Hotel Azenberg, except for one big problem, which I’ll explain below. The interior is a dated but well maintained, and I enjoyed the pool and sauna. The location isn’t the most convenient — it’s about a 20 minute walk from the Hauptbahnhof, mostly uphill — but if you come by car or you don’t mind walking, it’s not bad.

But I did have one big complaint. Shortly after 8am on Saturday I was woken up by loud banging directly below my room. It turned out that the floor below mine was being renovated. The receptionist dealt with the situation as well as she could, moving me into a different room in the other wing of the hotel. But I still heard loud banging all morning as the construction workers threw things into the dumpster from several floors up.

In my view it’s unacceptable for a hotel to rent a room to a guest at the normal price, without telling them that it will be impossible to sleep past 8 or 8:30 in the morning on the weekend. If there’s so much noise that the room can’t be used for sleeping, then the hotel shouldn’t be renting it out. I understand that the hotel would lose money if they didn't rent the room. But I lost money paying for a room where I couldn’t sleep. As far as I’m concerned that’s inexcusable. Hopefully the renovations will be done soon, but if you’re thinking of booking here in summer 2016, I’d suggest calling ahead and making sure you’ll actually be able to sleep while you’re there.

The restaurant was a fairly big disappointment with no staff of its own. The front desk staff was working in the kitchen and front of house which left both poorly attended. The menu was less than desirable which left me having to order from another restaurant with limited options not having a vehicle. I had to work all day and couldn't leave so not having an in house restaurant was most inconvenient.

Pros: Friendly staff with good spoken English. 24 hour room service with a decent German menu. Nice lounge area, restaurant and bar. Clean rooms. Quiet neighborhood (at the end of a cul-de-sac). Nice indoor pool and sauna. Close to the Hauptbahnhof (main train station) via taxi or car. Cons: Several blocks from the nearest bus stop. Uphill trek on foot makes carrying heavy bags or luggage difficult. Slow Wi-fi (on the 6th floor). Additional fee for breakfast. Room was hot in August (no A/C). Tiny shower stall that leaked onto the floor because of design flaw.

Our room was very small and everything was cover with carpet even lift if you have allergic I wouldn't recommend this place.hotel has swimming pool with 2 sauna. A hidden gem

This hotel is on the outskirts of Stuttgart. It is a wonderful little property staffed with very friendly and helpful employees. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the steam room and sauna - extra fee of 15 EUR per visit. The pool is indoors and the ceiling and walls are covered with whimsical paintings. We loved the breakfast and the outdoor seating area as well.

Due to delayed travel arrangements I phone the hotel to advise the that I would be late arriving, only to be told that they did not have my booking (which had been confirmed by expedia). Arriving at the hotel this was not resolved and I was given a room which was very small. The following morning I was told that they had lost my booking in the email SPAM filter. The service was poor - I spent 15 min alone at the bar with staff walking past before I was served. Finally the room charge on the bill was more than that booked with expedia. I travel to Stuttgart on business frequently, but will not be going back to this hotel.

Located in the very quiet student area it is about 25 minutes walking from the center and a little bit remote (as it is situated not on the main road). Nearby construction site didn't add much to the appeal too. Overall, nice and cosy inside with a fireplace and a bar area, discent parking space and good wifi reception in the rooms (i did not try the swimming pool or the sauna), but the room was very small and too basic for the surprisingly high price on a pre-booked mid-week stay.

Worth the extra distance from the center

Though it would have been more convenient to be closer to the center of town (25 minute walk to the main train station), Hotel Azenberg, was comfortable, clean, and very well suited for my stay (perhaps 12 minute walk to Stuttgart's downtown restaurant row. The staff was very courteous and efficient.

The hotel is located up at the top of a hill, on the outskirts of the city center, allowing for a quite environment away from the busy and noisy city center. The location is a bit of an uphill walk if you are relying on public transportation, as I was, instead of renting a car, but is very convenient to the main train station.

Perfect: Quiet, clean and friendly staff

The neighbourhood is a bit boring, but the hotel was perfect. I tried the inexpensive 24 hour room service for the evening meal (twice) and was impressed. The first day I left some cheese on the plate (put on the pasta) - I do not like cheese. The next day the cheese was served in a small bowl on the side - nice touch ;-). Room was perfectly cleaned and the carpets looked new. I had to walk almost 4 km. to the office, but it was worth the extra distance. (In a document I was addressed as 'Frau Kim', even though I am male, but others have made the same mistake ;-)). Overall a 5 star hotel!

This hotel is a great value for the money on a personal/leisure trip. It was somewhat difficult to find and the parking lot was more casual than I had expected (you park in front of what appears to be private garage doors - the staff tells you to do this, even though the signs in the elevators say not to). One person at the reception desk was slightly unfriendly, whereas the other was in the top 5 friendliest people I have ever met - on average positive, although I would not have had this impression from the first person. The facilities get a 4 instead of 5 because the wireless only worked in one corner of our hotel room, which is somewhat annoying if you do not have a data plan for Germany and want to handle a lot of internet business at once.

We always book 4* hotels on our frequent trips to Germany. Unfortunately, this hotel was not a up to the standard, e.g.:
>very poor internet connection in room,
>towels and soaps etc were not topped up daily,
>not all sockets and lights worked in the room,
>the radiators in the room were dusty
>the water in the swiming pool was freezing cold (despite several complaints from guests)
>not sufficient towels in the swimming pool area

Many hidden costs: The hotel advertised a spa being available as one of the services. When we arrived we were told to pay 15 Euros per person per evening. In 4* hotels this service is usually included.
In summary we thought it was all image but no attention to detail. A very disappointing experience.

Hotel Azenburg, Stuttgart - a hidden gem!

This hotel was a bit of an unknown quantity for us when we booked our four-night stay in December '11 but it turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. The first thing to say is that it is a little bit out from the centre of town - but for us that was a plus point. It's situated in a quiet residential neighbourhood and up a bit of a hill too so wouldn't really suit someone in search of a busy city-centre location or if you don't have a car and aren't fond of a brisk walk. Anyway, allow about 25 minutes to walk there or 5 minutes in a taxi from the main railway station. The hotel has been refurbished in the recent past and this gives it a nice fresh appeal. The public areas are spotlessly clean and there is a pleasant - but fairly small - bar and seating area just off the main reception. The breakfast room is light and airy with lovely clean furniture and fittings which make for a very pleasant atmosphere. Breakfast is charged extra at 9 Euros or so per person per day but it's of an excellent standard with plenty of choice from a hot and cold buffet. We were on the 5th floor and there was a lovely big sofa on our landing with a shelf full of books to read if you feel like a bit of down-time. Our room itself was immaculately clean - it was a non-smoking room on a non-smoking floor which really was pleasant - and, with a huge king size bed, there was plenty of space in the main part of the room. The only thing to comment on was that our bathroom was remarkably small - less than three square metres - with a tiny shower cubicle, no bath and no counter top to set out your stuff. Having said that it was clean and pleasant with a large mirror, a hairdryer and power outlet for shavers etc. The room had an LCD TV (which we didn't use so can't comment on the choice of channels), writing desk, decent wardrobe, a couple of easy chairs and the large windows had blackout shutters on the outside in the usual German tradition. The hotel has an indoor swimming pool on the ground floor which is free to use for guests and a spa with sauna etc which is available for an extra charge. These all looked very nice but not sure about the details as we didn't use them during our stay. There is no facility for evening meals in the dining room but there is 24 hour service from the bar menu of platters, pizzas and sandwiches etc. The standard of the food from the menu was very good and it can also be served in your room for no extra charge if you prefer. The prices of alcoholic drinks, coffee and tea are also very reasonable and there is plenty of choice. The other thing I really must say is that the hotel staff are absolutely excellent - nothing we asked for was too much trouble and they all really did go the extra mile to make you feel welcome. My wife has a good command of German but it's not a skill I can boast, however the reception and breakfast room staff all spoke very good English and were wonderfully pleasant to everyone. I don't like fussy, snooty hotels so this hotel is definitely one I would recommend for its pleasant, family-run atmosphere which makes you feel at home as soon as you walk in with a high level of friendly, efficient service to back it up. First class!

We booked this room because it was near the event grounds for Volksfest, which is a blast by the way. The hotel is out of the way in what appeared to me to be a residential district. Staff was very helpful. The room was nice with a separate closet section and good, free internet. Nice pool and spa in the basement. Make sure to get over the night before with a steam and a dip.

The Hotel staff where very helpful, we asked lots of questions and they answered all our requests, mainly for buses or trains to places. By looking on the internet.. It is in a very quite location about 20 min to 30 min walk from Stuttgart main train station. The only thing that we did find strange as in UK we have tea and coffee in the room , Germany does not. We was looking forward to a nice cup of tea after all the travelling. The only other thing was the TV did not have any English channels. I think the next time we book there, we would have half board as It was hard to find food in the town as all the menus was in German.

not a bad choice for close to down town and quiet sleep.

may be a bit expencive without an Expedia deal but very good, very quiet location with only three bus stops to down town. 24 hour bar and snack service but no restaurant close.
Stuttgart has an exellent public transportation system, ask for the StuttCard!

Hotel Azenburg Stuttgart

All in all a very nice stay. Staff were helpful, hotel was clean and comfortable. This hotel is located in a residential area so there is a curfew for the outdoor garden area - no drinks outside after 10. Breakfast is not included with a room and is a bit pricey. I didn't notice that and wound up with a large bill upon checkout.

Nice hotel; unfortunate location

This hotel is very clean and well kept with friendly staff in a nice neighborhood. But it is very difficult to get to using public transportation and its location on the top of a hill makes walking tedious. We eventually figured out how to get around but not without difficulty. Rooms are clean but very small. No air conditioning either - though outdoor area is generally quiet.

My mom and I stayed for one night. I gave the overall rating a "3" because I had expected more from a 4* hotel. Maybe the standards are lower in Germany than elsewhere. Everything is clean and everyone was nice and welcoming, parking was rather convenient as well.
The matresses are very comfortable but the room was quite small and there was no minibar/fridge.

Good hotel

This hotel is very nice and in a residential area, but close enough to walk to the center. The only bad thing is that the check-out is very early in my opinion. 1000 when you have been out all night at a beerfest is a little early. Also, at this price point it should include breakfast. Other than that, this is a nice hotel, clean, and has comfortable beds.

Nothing around, extra costs for Internet

The Hotel location is in a quiet neighborhood area and a bit difficult to find. The next restaurant is a 10 minutes walk, downtown 15-20 minutes to walk. 5 minutes to a bus-stop, no subway around. House and rooms are ok, but a little bit dated and nothing special. A bit ugly from the outside. Nice small garden. Beware that you have to pay extra for Internet or Breakfast (9,30 Euro)!

Very Comfortable

On arrival I was told that I would be staying in one of the apartments. The decor was a little dated so first impressions were not great. However, the bed was extremely comfortable, the bathroom had a great shower and WiFi worked fine (and was reasonably priced). Overall, I was extremely happy with this hotel. If you are thinking of walking to the hotel when you arrive at the main station (as the it does not look far on the map) you may want to reconsider as the hotel is at top of a hill and the walk is quite strenuous when pulling luggage. Staff were excellent - quickly bringing an iron and ironing board when requested. Would happily stay again.

While The Azenberg is not in the middle of the town centre, it is quite a pleasant walk or short bus trip. The room was very neatly appointed and the staff were extremely helpful.

This was our favorite hotel in the six we stayed in in Germany. The staff was incredible! So over the top helpful with directions, restaurant recommendations, bus schedules. She even booked our hotel in another city for us. It's a beautiful, quiet, clean and friendly hotel with everything you could want or need. The breakfast was outstanding, the lounge comfortable and inviting. I just can't say enough about the staff. They were awesome!

Hotel Azenburg Stuttgart_dissapointing

Difficult to review this hotel. The room on one level was perfect; good size, comfortable. However, why no tea and coffee making facilities? Very difficult to control the heat in the room as the radiator valves were obscured; it was too hot. There was too much noise transference between the rooms and above. I do not need to know when someone is flushing the loo! The location is poor, a good 20 minutes walk from the nearest train station. The breakfasts and service was very good, but there was something missing. Hence my 3 star rating.

The staff were most friendly and helpful. We had booked this hotel purely as an overnight stay before continuing to Stuttgart by train the following day. We had to use a taxi both from and to the railway station as with suitcases it was too far to walk to the nearest bus stop and the fare was not cheap.

Nice suburban hotel

I was traveling with a friend and we both had single rooms. We checked in early and the rooms were not ready yet so the manager offered us a seat in the garden and some coffee. The staff was friendly and polite and the bathrooms in the room were modern.

The only negative was the location. It's more of a neighborhood feel and is a considerable walk to downtown. If that is what you are looking for then this is a good hotel for you. It was a 7 euro cab ride from the train station and the rooms were comfortable.

Oasis of calm in a City

This hotel seems to be really loved by the owners. Little touches and attention to detail. Lovely pool and Therapy areas as well. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Hard to believe its in a city.
