I liked the idea of lodgging on a ship.

Good location. Poor service

Requested 2 beds Received a double. When i asked if they had another room the receptionist said they were full which was clearly untrue. I didn’t bother to argue and then the lady said ‘well you booked the double’ with some attitude. Pretty dusty and a floor that felt dirty. Mattress was very firm and think. And I usually prefer a firmer mattress. Breakfast was shambolic. Instead of having a toilet roll we had one of those dispensers which gives out one small sheet at a time and then got jammed up. Overall poor experience. The location is fairly good but its such a small city it isn’t worth worrying about location too much.

Cool in 70's, now not so much

Don't expect a good breakfast. The options were very limited. Soda was offered as the only option to tea and very poor coffee.
For a vegetarians/vegans there was only toast, sliced tomato and cucumber.

The general state of the hotel made it look like it needed repairs. There were spider webs everywhere.

The location was great for seeing the old town and the Danube river.

Stay in a hotel or airbnb but not this property.

When you book a boat and reach at 11 am, you expect you will get water side of the hotel room, but we didn't and this was Monday, when we went for breakfast we saw only 2 other families so all the rooms were empty but we were not allowed a room may be because we were asians? The room was very stuffy and the curtains were so light I could not sleep past 5 a.m.

The room was clean, comfortable, and warm in the meddle of the end year's night, in the reception everything went easily and nice, the breakfast was nice, we liked the view of the Danube while we were having our breakfast, it was so beautiful, the best thing is that the property is in the centre of Bratislava and you can walk to the old town, good price for nice, pleasant, comfortable stay

Room and Breakfast with a View

Wonderful views of the Danube and the boats that ply it PLUS easy walk to most of the sights of Bratislava. The chief negative was stained/dirty wall-to-wall carpet in our cabin. The bedding was spotlessly clean, however, and everything else was fine. Ample and tasty included breakfast. With a new carpet or other floor treatment, this room would deserve a rave.

Great hotel!

I liked it very much. Especially due to the balcony with view on the Danube. It's beautiful during the morning and evening. Room was clean, breakfast was delicious and the bed was extremely comfortable. The restaurant on the top of botel have good food and prices. 5 stars from me.

I live on a boat. This was not a boat I would want to live on. Even for one night. Ugh. Filthy, smelly and I had to ask for a room change so as not to be staring at the flashing police van all night and instead the river - which is what I requested in the booking.

Unique property near old town. Has to deal with the problems of being a boat on the river. As a boat they cannot deliver the same standards as a land asked hotel. But a land based hotel cannot deliver ambiance as a water based hotel. Has no AC but during my stay the first week of October opening the windows was sufficient.

Great views

If you get a river side room, you can watch all the river traffic from your bed and feel you're living on the river. On the other hand, the room and public areas need thorough cleaning and updating - only the bed linen and towels seemed clean. I felt like I was in a backpackers without the advantage of a low cost.

The botel was a great stay, although I would say that they need to be more observant when cleaning the bathroom... the shower still had lots of the previous guests hair all over the bottom and had clearly not been cleaned, apart from that everything was great.

Great Botel, fab location & cosy!

I would definitely stay on the Botel again. The man at the front desk was lovely and really funny. The room was so cosy, warm and everything we needed it to be. Breakfast was as you’d expect to get at any European hotel offering breakfast, the juices were fizzy and not nice tasting though.
The area is the most perfect!

One night in Bratislava

I had very good experience from the beginning. I came little bit earlier but because they already cleaned the room I was able to get my room before 14:00. The lady at the reception was very helpful and answer all my questions about public transit in Bratislava. The internet was good. The TV had only 5 channels, 4 in Germans and one in Slovak. That needs improvement. The fan in the bathroom did not work. The breakfest was very good. The botel is close to the downtown and I am sure that I will be staying again in this botel Gracia.

Bed bugs infested!

The major souvenir from my stay at this place are a number of bed bugs bites! And now for a few days so far I'm etching badly :( A huge disappointment as an idea of a boat-hotel is nice and it's perfectly located next to the city historic center. But the bed bugs infestation completely spoils everything.
By the way, there is no air condition and it may be hot in the summer on the sunny (river-view) side

Great value in a great location

I am not sure why anyone disparages this place. Considering the price and location, it is excellent value! We had a couple of niggles on the first night with our balcony door not closing and the room being cold but once that was sorted, perfectly comfortable and a decent breakfast; wish it was served in the top floor restaurant. Bathroom was newly renovated and they have a nice little lounge area. Would stay again

Cool location in a boat next to the Old City. Excellent location for walking to the sights of Bratislava. Great view on the river and the UFO bridge. Staff was friendly and helpful, pointing out locations on a map and recommending restaurants. We were there on a Friday night I. The summer and across the river was a large party space. Perhaps this won't be an issue for everyone, but as we were travelling with a child, we went to bed earlier than some. The DJ and music could be heard loudly until almost 2 am. This is not the fault of the hotel, but something to be aware of, especially on a weekend in the summer if you need to go to sleep early.

Lovely being on the water and only a 5 minute walk to the centre of the old town. The only bad points were that the restaurant was closed (hired out for private functions) for two nights - though we were only 5 minutes walk from the shops - and the doors were sticky, needing a bit of force to close them. But lovely staff, lovely room and lovely location.

Stay on the Botel - great location

Only a one night stay in Bratislava and the \"Botel\" was an interesting experience. The location was absolutely great for walking to the main sites in the old city or taking a Danube river cruise; everything was super close! Of course, there are some drawbacks to staying on a boat (small bathroom and some noise) but overall would recommend based on the great location and the good price. Definitely a great value for the money!

Botel on the Danube

I booked this hotel due to the price, location and the novelty on being a boat on the Danube. Overall it was a very pleasant stay. The staff were polite and helped me check in earlier than planned. The room is generous in size though the bathrooms are small which is due to the boat design. You do hear some noise from other rooms as well. Rooms are smart and clean.The location is excellent- within walking distance of the old town and the price is very competitive. The main selling point is being right on the Danube so I would advise to request a room facing the water. The breakfast is decent with both hot and cold food being served. Overall if you are looking for a well priced room in Bratislava near the old town this is a excellent choice.

1st stay (11 & 12 Oct), room had a musty smell, which cleared after leaving windows open for some time. 2nd stay (26 Oct), no problem re smell. Bathroom very small. Shower OK. Breakfast pretty good. No tea / coffee-making facilities. TV not working on 1st stay: no TV at all on 2nd stay. Therefore, Botel had some downsides: however, we also stayed at supposedly up-market Grand Hotel at Stary Smokovec during our time in Slovakia, & that had problems too (lack of shower-curtain, poor evening buffet meals, cold dinner plates, no tea / coffee-making facilities). Proof that just by paying big money, you don't necessarily get top quality. Overall then, Botel is not bad, but not brilliant: OK for a short stay.

great location and value for money

convenient location right in the city centre with loads of options for restaurants, shopping and a supermarket just in the next street, great value for money. Room is spacious (not what you usually get on a boat) just the bathroom is quite narrow, but all new with a good shower.Breakfast buffet had everything you need (cereal, different bread types, cheese, sliced meat, hot sausages, different type of egg, yogurt, fruit, tea coffee...) Definitely would stay there again!

The hotel is a retired small ship. So adjust your expectations before booking. access from the street to the Botel is not easy and it has no lift to access breakfast room and restaurant on the 2nd floor. Our room was hot and wet in a hot summer afternoon with no air-condition but an old fan which had no cover and so dangerous. We enjoyed support from friendly staff and nice food.

Terrible room.

Our friends and us stayed in this hotel and rooms were awful. Old, smelly, with wet floors. Front desk said those were the only rooms that they had and could not move us anywhere.
I booked this hotel because it claims to have free parking and close to city center. Location is the only nice thing I can confirm about this botel. They have only 3! parking spaces and of course, they all were filled. I was sent to the parking lot near by which I had to pay for.

The Boat is on the river at the closest point to the town. 50-100m away are where all the bars, restaurants and interesting building start. So really is good

It is a bit dated. some of the plugs didnt work, so we had to move rooms. Rooms were small as expected, shower bigger than it looked on photos.

Right on the Danube next to the iconic bridge in Bratislava facing the historical old town.Room bigger than I thought for a boat.Breakfast is a European one not English.Staff although friendly couldn't answer basic tourist questions which I found a little odd.I got this placed or a very reasonable price,its clean and best of all its location is fantastic. The imagery for hotel is small so look for the large restaurant sign Surf and Turf which is above the Botel

The hotel is quite pleasant. It rocks very slightly, which we found quite pleasant. The breakfast was generous and had good variety. Our room was on the land side, so less scenic, though we could see the castle in the corner of our view.
Main downside for us was a very small, narrow room, which was next to the laundry; it was noisy from 7:30 am on. The bathroom was very tight. The beds were comfortable, the lounge was pleasant to hang out in. We had good WiFi in our room. I enjoyed sitting on a sunny deck in the afternoon, reading, and seeing the great view. The main sites were all within easy walking distance, and the price was great.

A novel experience gone poorly

We chose this hotel because we though it'd be a new experience sleeping on a boat. What a mistake. The boat is old. Our room was in poor condition: stained carpets, dirty windows, pieces of the wall coming off. The bed was not an actual bed but rather a hard uncomfortable pull out sofa. The bathroom was clean but very small and your shower was a mix of burning water followed by freezing cold. The room itself was large given that it was on a boat. The room was hot but they provided a weak fan. Breakfast was terrible. We arrived at 8:30 when it started at 7. The milk for the cereal was literally room temp. There was no pastries, just some gross eggs and bread rolls with bologne and cheese. The only redeeming thing about this hotel was the location, we could easily walk to everything. For the price we definitely could have done much better.

This hotel was very average. Fine for the price. The room was fairly big, but not quite as clean as I had hoped and the bathroom had a strange smell to it. The included breakfast had good variety. Great location. 5 minutes walk to old town. If it's a hot week ask for a room on the 'city side' of the boat - yes, you will lack a view of the Danube but the room will be 20C cooler than rooms on the water side. Very good breakfast considering it was included in the price. I would def. stay here again!

Comfort, Great Location and Accommodating!

Right in the heart of the old city of Bratislava and very convenient to transportation routes. Room was more comfortable than expected--completely stationary although on the Danube River. The breakfast was good and with a variety of choices. I was able to check in early, which was a lifesaver because I had gotten to Bratislava at 5 am. My only complaint was that the TV didn't work so I used the wifi to watch YouTube.

Great Botel, first time experience staying on a boat type hotel. Very pleased with staff and service. Arrived a bit early and wanted to leave bags until room was ready, but managed to get a room. Location is perfect, right in the city center and heart of the old Bratislava. Would definitely recommend for anyone traveling solo or with family.

Knew prior to going that it was a 'budget type' accommodation. However, room and service was diabolical. See-through curtains not covering all of the windows, rooms not cleaned during our 4 night stay, bins not emptied, no fresh towels etc. Awful breakfast. Great for One Night!

We only stayed one night and I think it is a good place for one to two nights stay maximum. The location is great for getting to the old town, and it's fun to stay on the Danube! The botel could use a renovation. It smells (it's on the water so it's hard not to, but would get old if you stay a long time), and everything is old but not in a historic fun way, but just old. The check-in was smooth and the check-out was pretty smooth. The woman was nice enough to call us a cab, but did snap at me about paying (something I already did.) It's a fun experience to stay on a boat, but it's not luxurious so just keep that in mind. But it's a cheap rate, so for the money it's worth it.

the hotel is in need of a make-over, the rooms are tatty looking, there was a tv in our room which didn't work and when we asked about it the reception said that they didn't do tv and that there was no ariel. We arrived late and there was no tea/coffee facilities and the bar was shut, the only decent thing was the breakfast.

Botel provides basic but sufficient accommodation. Unfortunately the Botel was undergoing major refurbishment during our stay and the restaurant and bar were closed. Our room looked like it had been partly refurbished: the ensuite bathroom was new, and some fitted cupboards looked modern, however the carpet , despite being good quality, had been down for some time as it was faded by the sun, which poured through the windows. Decor looked a bit institutional: dark wooden formica panelling with large depressing prints of historical naval battles on the walls! Continental breakfast was OK, but cooked breakfast disappointing. Also, dogs allowed in restaurant: although well behaved, I saw their owner hand feeding the dog, then going up to the buffet and touching the food!

Like I expected

That's a boatel and , considering this, I got exactly what I was looking for. If i ll go to Bratislava again, I'll choose the same.
Note: for those comming by car, parking place in front of the boatel is quite limmited. They offer a place in a secure parking located 200 m away though.
There is an extra city fee to pay at the hotel desk, but it is very small ammount.

This was a quick trip to visit Bratislava for the first time. The botel is close to the old city (and easy walk) and right on the tram line as well as being close to one of the main bus stops. The Botel folks were fine and helpful. The room was surprisingly large. The doors are thin, making any sound (late groups coming in at night) a bit disturbing. Still, I'd stay there again.

The hotel was closed

When we arrived the hotel was closed, and we were lucky that arrived at lunch time. There was the only one person, who informed us that we had to go to botel marina. The Marina was not clean, and more cheaper than Botel Gracia.

Great location

The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel has a great location, near the old town and the SNP bridge, so easy to get buses to Devin or over to Petrzalka . The facilities in the hotel were a bit basic-little variety at breakfast and could only get a couple of TV stations , but actually could get wi-fi which isn't always the case. The restaurant was closed for reconstruction

Does what it says on the tin

Very clean and tidy. No noise. Just what I needed for a good night's sleep. Friendly English speaking staff. Good price and 5 mins walk max to the old town. Would go again!

Convenient for Cycle Touring

Entering Bratislava, it was very easy to find the hotel (right below UFO bridge), and didn't,t require us trying to find a place in a strange city after a long day,s ride from Vienna. We could bring our bikes on board. Reception was a bit slow and was perfunctory, but the room overlooked the Danube & it felt like being on a cruise ship. Of course, the Botel was old, but despite being rough around the edges, it was clean. The facilities were adequate and the location gave us easy access to the major sights of the city for an affordable rate.

Unacceptable

Botel Garcia is in an enviable position on the Danube adjacent to the historical centre of Bratislava.
The room allocated was on the lower floor. A basic standard and furnished cheaply. However the smell from the bathroom shower drain was awful.
The other residents seemed to comprise of mainly large group of younger English males on a stag trip.
At 0320hrs, I was woken up by two drunken males who partially climbed in through the window, pulled over the curtain and thought it amusing to frighten sleeping guests.
The lone female botel receptionist proved to be unable to control the other residents who drunkenly ran up and down the corridors.
On complaining in the morning I was offered relief from paying city tax of €3.30. I had to enjure breakfast in the company of the two drunken idiots who thought it acceptable to attend the dining room in bare feet and one wrapped in a blanket. No member of staff paid any attention.
In short the accomodation was sub standard, smelled unpleasantand was dominated by drunk residents who went unchallenged no matter there standard of behaviour. My worst over night experience ever. I would never consider returning.

Very good location

A very good location, close to the Old City, 5 minutes walk to the Castle and a very nice view to the Danube. The hotel is not on a boat, it is built on a floating pier, so, not so shaky. The room was not too big, but enough for 2 of us. However, it was not very clean and it seems to be renovated a long time ago. It was still a very good value for the price we paid.
