Rooms were very quiet and the resort is very jungle like and serene. Would definitely stay there again. We had a wonderful stay at The Hive Hotel in Lamai the resort is lovely and very clean, the rooms are very clean and spacious, breakfast is excellent you also have an egg option just request with your server.
Pool is situated overlooking the beach with very comfortable beds.
The staff are fantastic and a credit to the hotel from reception to maids and restaurant pool staff all courteous and tentative to your needs.
We would definitely stay here again.

Very nice hotel. Villas and grounds could use a little updating. The hotel is convenient to town, and there are tons of bars, restaurants, massage parlors, and shopping options all within short, easy walking distance. Hotel is right on the beach, and the pool overlooks the beach as well.

We started with just a 1 day reservation to check out the area and facilities it was important we had good wifi and air conditioning after our first night we decided to stay here for the rest of our time and booked with the front desk the place has the best beach and the only one where there is a completely roped of area to swim in the ocean the beach chairs and umbrellas were many and the breakfast was amazing. Excellent value for the money

The hotel is on a lovely beach, a short walk to restaurants and bars in a quiet location, staff are friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was excellent for me as I like an English breakfast followed with a bowl of yoghurt fresh fruit, nuts/ seeds after a fresh cup of coffee from the coffee machine. The hotel restaurant in on the beach front a plus.
The rooms are a few years old, but are nice with a comfortable bed and a balcony overlooking the green walkways which connects the hotel complex.
Would I stay here again, yes it gets my approval.
The only problem was the shower water pressure was a bit erratic.
I had a fantastic holiday with my son here who also loved it.

We have had amazing time while staying at The Hive in Lamai Beach. Could the rooms (especially the bathroom) do with a refresh? Probably, but the beautiful staff and wonderful location. The staff, from reception, to restaurant, to housekeeping and grounds could not be more welcoming or friendly. I look forward to returning sometime

Its pretty central to the nightlife, which makes it fairly noisy, though convenient. I never had any hot water at the shower throughout my stay, fortunately it is pretty warm weather-wise, so it wasnt too unpleasant to have a cool/cold shower and then warm up in the ambient heat.

Great stay but room for improvement

Positives: Great stay in a villa. Very close to the pool & view of Gulf of Thailand. Breakfast was very good, service was excellent. Location is great away from the party strip.
Negatives: should be no shirt, no shoes, no service in restaurant; no dogs in restaurant; 1 out of 2 coffee machines worked; after 30 mins belongings should be removed from pool loungers as people reserve then leave; as smoking of all types is permitted there should be a designated smoking area.

The Hive - Best Value

What a great stay at The Hive. This is a wonderful boutique style hotel near the water with easy access to town.
Rooms are bungalow style with AC. Super clean with great staff all around.
Lots of chairs around to pool so no need to get up at 6 to throw a towel on a chair.
Breakfast is great and lots of coffee options.
Ive already recommended to friends and family who are now booked for March.

The photos looked a lot better than the current conditions of the property. There were LOTS of mosquitoes. This could perhaps be an acceptable three-star property but we didn’t play attention to the star rating when booking it (our fault). The staff was genuinely kind and professional. We left after one night. We didn’t get a partial refund, but thank goodness we moved. I can’t imagine staying five more nights. Again, it could be an acceptable three-star hotel, but it wasn’t for us.

Great breakfast! Excellent service, the lady at the reception area scheduled transportation from the Hotel to our next place (another island/hotel). Our room/cabin was very quiet and super close to the pool and beach. They cleaned the room daily and always left water bottles for us. They had plenty of chaise longues and towels in the pool/beach area. Definitely will be back.

Loving Lamai

This is our second time in the last three years to stay at Lamai Wanta. We loved the pool, excellent access to the beach and the wonderful buffet brunch. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The front desk staff are very accommodating and efficient. The rooms are clean and very comfortable. Besides being right on the beach, the resort is just one block off of the Lamai Beach Road for easy access to shopping, restaurants and convenience stores. Our time there was very relaxing. The downside is the European tourist habit of smoking. There are a lot of them and they are not very considerate and of course the Thai people are very polite and accommodating. I did not enjoy my patio much because of the neighbours smoking. It's great that there is a lot to do in Lamai. We would definitely go back and we recommend this resort. Great value for the price.

This resort is on a very rough part of the Gulf. The beautiful pool provided an alternative to swimming in the Gulf. The resort is very well managed and operated and the staff went out of their way for the guests. The restaurant and bar service during the day was great. We had lunch there twice and the food was excellent. Happy hour is something this resort should consider as the price of drinks are a little on the high side.

Initially there was no transparency, on the Expedia page, about the fact that Lamai Wanta was renovating their pool even though it is the draw card photo on the Expedia page. We would NEVER have booked if this fact hadn't been so ambiguously hidden. Upon our 10pm arrival, not only would they not refund our pre-booked 2nd night on our request but wouldn't budge with any customer-service spirit of compensatory offers, it was a case of passing the buck to the executive decision makers of old-school business principles, at our expense.

Lamai Wanta may be the best value for money hotel in Lamai. For the price, it’s clean, has nice rooms facing a well maintained jungle like garden area with plenty of shade, and the food is.good, with decent breakfast buffet. The pool is inviting and the
location good for accessing the “main drag” in Lamai yet the resort itself is quiet. Would come back if in Lamai.

It doesn't look as nice as the photos and the Manager & Resort staff are unpleasant and rude. The rooms are VERY noisy, you can hear people burping in other rooms, not pleasant. Management pretend they don't know, I find this difficult to believe.
There is a box jellyfish problem on the beach, people have died and the beach is VERY unsafe particularly for women at night. Not somewhere I would recommend.

Right on a great beach with fine white sand. Excellent walking beach. Nice and long.
Loungers and umbrellas with some nice tree shade just beside pool.
Staff were always smiling and helpful. Rom was always kept clean.
Close to lots of restaurants, bars, shopping, etc also has a night food market a few blocks away
Good party area but hotel is off the Main Street by a block, so nice and quiet.

Cons
If you want a lounger, umbrella, or shade you need to book one with the supplied beach towels by 6:00 am. They allow guests to do this so it becomes a must.

We enjoyed our Villa very much. Only disappointment was we were at the very back of hotel. Our holiday was booked more than 3 months in advance so was surprised at where we were located. It was however very clean and well maintained.
Staff were lovely and friendly everywhere within the resort, and loved the outlook to beach from where we had brekky each morning.

Resort Location is at Lamai beach which is quiet and far from chaweng beach, if you want to be at the center of Samui, this is not the location for you.
the resort is located in a nice surrounding , in front of a lovely beach , but its room are quite old and smell of dumps, the internet is very slow ,breakfast is very basic and require an update .

The resort is nice, the staff are friendly and welcoming. The resort is located right on the beach with many sun lounges available. The breakfast selection is quite minimal, not a very wide selection like i have experienced in other hotels. I stayed in a standard room, the room is very dark and outdated, quite small and has a strange musty smell to it. Bathroom is quite small but the bed was rather comfortable. I think the rooms need a little updating, furniture is very old and drab looking and not much effort put into it. For the price though it is good for what you get.

Wanta is the first hotel in Thailand where I haven't checked out after a couple of days and gone elsewhere. Apart from having softer hotel room mattresses and updated sunbeds this place is hard to fault. Nice staff and a location that more expensive hotels on Lamai Beach don't have. The interweb was pukka - probably faster than my home supplier lol.

( - ) We stayed at the rear of the hotel 406/407 which suffered with a bit of distant drum 'n' bass from the bars, but it was nothing too severe.

( + ) No Jellyfish during our stay.

Stayed in a deluxe double room which was very clean and comfortable. Lamai
Wanta Resort is in a great location for the beach, local shops, bars and restaurants. Lots to see and do. We watched a fantastic fire show 5 minutes walk from the hotel along the beach.
Positives - location, cleanliness, helpful staff, well maintained grounds. As two female travellers having night security on site was a bonus.
Negatives - The wifi could be a bit patchy. The on site restaurant closed at 6:30-7:00 pm. Whilst there are lots of restaurants and bars within a 2 minute walking distance, which we used every night, having the restaurant on site open in the evening would be great for families and those who do not want to venture out.
I would recommend this Resort to family and friends.

The room was on the ground floor and you can hear all the noises from the rooms above and sides. There are no phones in the rooms to call the front desk and complain, I had to get out of bed and get dressed to walk to the from desk. The room was awful, you have to exit and enter via the patio doors which was hard to lock and unlock and also allow the room fill with mosquitoes ever time you went in or out in the evenings. There are many other much nicer and cheaper hotels on lamai beach. I would not stay here again. The pool water was filthy.

Had a lovely stay, room was super comfortable, big balcony. The power stayed on when you left so you could charge things while you were out.
Lamai is a nice spot, water is good and lamai beach rd was close, lots of food options. There is a reason chaweng is the tourist centre though, the water there was amazing!
The only annoying thing about the hotel was their bar closed at 5. The restaurant there was really good though!

lamai wanta is set amongst tranquil manicured gardens, stayed in an upstairs deluxe room which had a patio amongst the young coconut trees ,, at night little grey thai squirrels can be seem hopping about ,eating the fruit ,the rooms are as pictured good beds and aircon .works well , although the rooms dont heat up much as rhe garden has a cooling effect , restaurant overlooks the beach and pool area ,, loads of breakfast choices , omelettes made to order while you cook your toast ,,, but its the location of the resort that makes it what it is , every thing a sones throw away , am a traveller that pays atention to detail , the restaurant tables , like a galaxy of opals , ?,, seasoned aussie traveller ,, , upon arrival , exhausted .. i picked up and went to smell what appeared to be a scented candle ,,,, ? it was a glass of orange juice !!! ting tong , , we could all take a leaf out of the thai i book of manners,,,, ,,at night , theres a security guard ,, he couldnt have a beer with me , so i put a few beers in his pocket , all night amongst the odd mozzie to ensure a safe stay , the sane level of dedication displayed by the room staff and gardeners should humble us all a little , , as for the orange stained white shirt , local laundry next day pickup , ? a stones throw away ,,, and it smelt like a scented candle , ,

A Little Bit of Paradise

We loved our stay at Lamai Wanda. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable with a great bed and a nice balcony to enjoy the evening. The area was quiet with easy, quick access to the Lamai strip for eating and shopping. The pool area, lounge chairs and beach access was excellent. Breakfast buffet was plentiful and tasty. It was enjoyable to eat in the open air restaurant. We were disappointed to leave and certainly would return if the opportunity presented itself.

We really enjoyed our stay at Lamai Wanta, it's location is probably the best on Lamai beach, it has a wide beach frontage, plenty of sun beds, the rooms are basic and that's the only reason I can think of why this gem of a hotel doesn't have a much higher rating. The rooms are basic but the bed was firm and very comfortable, had a fridge, air con, the balcony was private, and the setting of the rooms is nice and amongst trees, the best part of this hotel though is the pool area. It's the best of both worlds, directly on the sea, you can choose to swim in the sea or the pool, there are plenty of sun beds and as it's a private area so you don't get harassed by the hawkers walking on the beach, and best of all the staff are so very genuinely friendly and are happy to take your order and deliver you cold drinks, beer and delicious food directly to your sun bed at very reasonable prices. In general all else all the staff are so very kind and friendly. We will definitely be back!

Nice resort next to a nice beach

The resort has direct access to Lamai beach which is a very nice beach. The room was nice and tidy, TV was small but you don't use it much anyway.

The resort is also conveniently located close to restaurants and shops.

Staff were very helpful and quick when checking in/out and getting a taxi.

Perfect beach get away. Quiet. Clean. Variety of rooms/bungelows. On sight restaurant (beach side) had an amazing breakfast/ poolside drinks. Pool was simple but very nice. Lots of poolside lounge chairs. Beach was stunning! Jet ski/ para sailing/ tubing available. 2 minute walk to shopping, restaurants and bars. Very family friendly.

Recent 10 day stay, chose this hotel for price and positive reviews. Staff were friendly, helpful and fluent in English. Stayed in upper level room, balcony faces a very tranquil garden courtyard. Very comfortable stay, so close to all the amenities. Abundant restaurants nearby to choose from.
Best to wake up early to \"reserve\" a pool chair by leaving a towel or personal item on it. Windy days create significant waves along the beach. Those intolerant to cigarette smoke may be affected by smokers in adjacent rooms. Overall good value for the price, spacious rooms with high vaulted ceiling on upper level rooms, but physically showing its wear & tear.

Excellent location on the beach

Good hotel with excellent location. Clean with amenities available. Restaurant closes early in evening so need to eat away from hotel. Can buy breakfast and lunch if you wish. Rooms cleaned each day and beds and towels changed.
