We enjoyed staying at the Derby Swiss Quality Hotel. It is very close to the train station and has a nice view of the mountains. The staff is friendly, and breakfast is served on time with a nice variety of options. The hotel is very close to the Coop grocery store.

The hotel is so close to the station that you'd think the noise will interrupt you. The building is fairly quiet and the staff there is amazing. There is ample seating in the restaurant and you are well taken care off. I'd definitely stay here again.

Amazing views! You can't beat the convenience if you're travelling by train - it's right across the platform - and the trains are so quiet we slept with our windows open and still didn't hear them. The breakfast had everything you could desire and the staff were super friendly and knowledgeable.

Checking in was easy, warm welcome, room was spacious and comfortable. All amenities covered from coffee machine to toiletries. Breakfast was excellent, a really good selection across the board. Excellent restaurant for evening meals. All staff members were friendly.

Booked a comfort room and when we arrived at the hotel they let us know it was on the 5th floor when the elevators only go to the 4th floor. You need to take a narrow spiral staircase to access the room which is essentially the attic of the building with very low ceilings and no central air. I asked for a different room as I was traveling with my elderly mother who is over 70 years old and they could not accommodate. When I asked if a lower category opens up even in the middle of our 5 night stay the front desk man said he could let me know and started to reach for pen and paper but then changed his mind. He didn’t make any note so I believe he was just saying that but didn’t mean it. They did send someone to bring our luggage up the stairs for us. Then when we were checking out we called down to ask for help to bring our luggage down the stairs but was told no one was available as all staff are working in the breakfast buffet. It would be better if they let people know to call the night before or have luggage be sent down the night before.

Even without the stairs/luggage issue, we will not be staying at the hotel again. There is no central air and funky smell throughout the hotel probably from cooking in the kitchen as there is poor ventilation throughout the dates building. Breakfast buffet is just okay as they only have 2 hot items (eggs and bacon) but they do not even provide any condiments (ketchup, salt/pepper, hot sauce) that you would normally see.

Staff were fantastic telling me where to go and helping me with bags and moving my car. Couldn’t do enough for you! The food was lovely and waiters created a lovely atmosphere. The room has a fantastic view. My only criticism was that the TV remote didn’t work but didn’t really need it with the view!

I found this hotel to be a pleasant traditional hotel with friendly staff and mostly good facilities. On the negative side the rooms are little old-fashioned and occasionally run down in small areas. But the public areas are good, as was the restaurant. Pleasant buffet available for breakfast The best thing is the convenience for getting on the train which is literally right outside your door.
The worst is the ski room arrangement because you are forced to exit from the basement of the hotel so to get back to the train station to ascend the mountain, you must lug your skis, wearing ski boots up a flight of rickety steps and all across the outside of the hotel.

Great Views of Eiger

We booked a south facing room for one night, so that we could view the Eiger. We enjoyed out stay so much we stayed an additional night. All of the staff was very helpful, and I'll likely stay here again on our next visit. Oh, it about 10 meters from the train station--you can't get a hotel closer to the Grindelwald train station.

Good stay but no Wifi for one day. They could not fix it. We also had to ask for soap on second day and no refills on coffee or other in-room amenities. Otherwise all good. Large rooms. Great location next to train station. Restaurant was surprisingly great.

I read some of the reviews and was a bit worried as some people complained on the breakfast, size of room, and location near the train. I have nothing but great things to say about the hotel. Yes, it is right next to the train! The breakfast has so many options, I could tell that everything was fresh. The eggs were delicious! The people working there from the front desk to the restaurant, and the cleaning staff were all polite and friendly/helpful.

Perfect Stay

It was right in front of the train station and steps away from the bus station. Everything was perfect! Front desk lady was really friendly and even help check the weather for us before we went up to Jungfraujoch. Breakfast was good. The view from our room was spectacular. It is an older hotel so you can hear some squeaking when you walk but that didn’t bother us. I would stay again.

Property is perfect. Literally next to train station. 2 min walk to bus stop. Market close by. Rooms have balcony for smoking so that’s perfect for me as I’m a cigar smoker. Great views while smoking. Highly recommended

All staffs are very nice and have good services mind. We got to hotel around 9 pm, but the staffs still had smiling & greet. Moreover, at 10 pm we were so starving, no where open and actually so does the hotel restaurant, but they told us they can make some easy plates fir us. Yes, we got the good pasta plates and they made us sleep well.

The Reception Personnel are exceptional and the bulk of the Wait Staff are also exceptional. However, the dining experiences was disappointing - we signed up for a meal on a Thursday; and then Friday evening we were informed that the Rump steak was replaced by Veal Shoulder steak (grizzle and fat). This was explained by a logistics issue - however, it was offered the next night when the hotel had more patrons. But, then they also replaced the Creme Brulee with a Pear Tart?

Now to the Hotel's credit, they did comp our meals - but, we were not in search of money, we were in search of a good meal.

It was excellent. I really enjoyed it.
We had a very good rest in the room even though we were just next to the train station.
It was really clean.
Food was good. We didn’t eat in the restaurant.
I have only one complaint and those who come by car should pay special care. The parking spot is tight and insufficient when many are logged.
Insist that they reserve you a place or find yourself a different deal beforehand.
The place is kind of expensive if you take into account in Zürich 5 star hotels cost less.
Otherwise I totally recommend the property.

The most convenient option just steps from the train station. The staff were friendly, the restaurant staff were even more friendly, and the rooms were cute. I highly suggest the Mountain View rooms because wow 😍… the only reason I this wasn’t a perfect review was because for the accommodation style, it’s pricey. All in all, I would still recommend this hotel.

Last minute booking was a gem. Great central location across from the train station. The staffs were exceptionally helpful, from the warm and helpful front desk to attentive restaurant team. Single Room is cozy, not very large but more than comfortable for 1 person. Very close to bus station as well for moving about the town. Centrally located to restaurants and other points of interests. Only original question mark was noise since my room overlooked the platform. Even if the window was cracked open the trains weren’t much of a noise, people were louder. With window closed it was quiet. What you do get with a room overlooking the platform is an unobstructed view of the stunning mountainside.

Great location and quality at great price!

Ideally located next to the train station, you can’t miss this hotel when you get to Grindelwald. The personnel is extremely welcoming and flexible. Restaurant and shopping within a 2 min walk, and the gondola going up to First is a 10 min walk. Even rooms facing the train station are quiet, but you can ask for the rooms facing the opposite side.

Great location but disappointing property. The heating is only working during daytime and I had to complain about being too cold at night two times. In the end they gave us a radiator after 5 cold nights. For New Year dinner they told us they are fully booked although we were their residents but all worse to better as across the road there was availability and the food and staff were amazing.

Two nights stay at Grindelwald

The Hotel is a nicely situated in front of Grindelwald station so its very convenient and you dont have to worry about dragging your luggage uphill. Hotel staff was polite and helpful and the room was clean and cosy. The hotel also has a nice view of the valley and the Mountains. It is a good location to stay if you are heading to Jungfraujoch or Lauterbrunnen.

One of the best hotels in our trip to Switzerland > they gave us a free upgrade with our balcony door opposite the mountains . Griedewald as a mountain town made our stay even better. Super handy if you are there to visit Jungfrau mountains with the trains literally infront of the reception door .

The property is very well maintained and the rooms very comfortable. The staff are also extremely efficient, professional and helpful.

The rating could have been a 5 had it not been for the extremely poor breakfast. Coffee was so bad as to be near undrinkable. Tinned fruit. Poor quality breads (except the croissants) and cheeses. Tinned ham. These items are all simply unacceptable in today's age.

The central location in Grndelwald next to the train station and across the street from the ski bus was excellent, made getting to all the major gondola lifts very quick and easy. The staff across the board were very friendly and helpful.

Great experience overall at Swiss Derby. Check in was very quick and even though our room faced the train station there was no noise at all. Rooms are well furnished with frig and tea pot. While rooms are economy size, we were very happy.

Hotel is located right next to the train platform.. have a wonderful feel..modern fittings... good restaurant and staff..

They insisted we upgrade to a bigger room.. which actually worked out well.. the kids enjoyed the room.. i enjoyed the double balcony.. and the toilet was nice,clean and modern..

The hotel has a lodge feel with a library, big balconies..

Also, got a chance to eat at the restaurant.. which has a weird rule of serving pizza only for takeaway.. so my kids had to sit outside the restaurant to eat.. but good vibe overall.

Will stay and recommend the hotel again.

Hotel is in a great position literally on the station platform, but with no disturbance from trains. An easy few minutes walk into the village with plenty of restaurants and shops and surrounded by glorious scenery. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and friendly and the hotel was spotless, I would thoroughly recommend the hotel and would certainly stay there again.
