I did not stay there. In fact I would like my money back. When I checked in, there were three very aggressively friendly men who were very creepy. They asked personal questions. They gave me the room near reception. There was no inside lock and they said it was safe. I did not feel safe. I thought about it and decided not to stay.

We had a great experience at Splendid Holiday in Hanoi. The staff consisting of Harry, Emma, Lily, Anna, Mina, and Jon went out of their way to help us and make us feel comfortable and welcome. They are very knowledgeable and hospitable towards our questions and needs. The location is central and gives walkable access to significant Hanoi landmarks. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was yummy.

We had a room with two king beds and it was a great set up for four adults.
The location was fantastic, especially at Christmas because of proximity to St. Joseph's and all of their special public events.
We booked tours and the hotel is in the free pick-up zone for tour operators, which was very convenient.

We stayed over NYE and had an excellent time. This hotel is in the right spot if you’re looking for an authentic experience in Hanoi. The second you step out the front door there’s cafes, spas, bars, and tiny hole in the wall restaurants that serve up quick and delicious bites! Not to mention you’re a short walk from the lake and other really cool spots. I will mention there is very noisy traffic and music outside, especially when the church is in service. If you are sensitive to noise this is not the place for you. But if you can look past that, it was truly a terrific place to stay!

The hotel is on a small street away from the hustle and bustle of Hanoi, so when you get to your room after a busy day of sightseeing, you feel right at home. The spa with massage treatments is an added plus. Had a great foot massage after a long day of walking. Breakfast buffet is great with good variety of food. The hotel was very convenient and highly accessible to the Old Quarter of Hanoi. It is located off a side street away from the busy street that made it more pleasant to stay in. The rooms were comfortable and had plenty of space and served traditional cuisines for breakfast that we were able to try and enjoy. They were also very helpful with coordinating the transportation to and from the airport and gave us recommendations of places and restaurants to visit.

In general, we had a great experience at The Splendid Grand Hotel. The rooms, particularly the bathroom was a bit dated with 2nd rate painting facelift painting. The Front Desk staff were all very friendly and helpful, in particular Kimmie who had great knowledge with the day tours. The breakfast buffet was excellent with very good variety with fresh fruit, and a mix of western and Vietnamese options.
Now for the more serious problem. My daughters brand new pearl earrings were stolen from her unlocked backpack in her locked room. After turning her room upside down and looking in every crack or hole in the room, we reported the theft to the Manager who immediately stated that in 25 years, he has never seen staff steal from guests. Unfortunately, my daughter discovered the theft as she was packing for our Check out, meaning that calling Police was not a probable option. The hotel manager simply said sorry and hoped that we find it when we got home. Needless to say, we did not find them. My daughter was excited with her purchase and did not want to wear it whilst in Vietnam and wanted to save it for a special occasion when she got back home so she knew that when it was missing, that it had been stolen The hotel's handling was akin to sweeping it under a rug .

The people at Splendid is what makes it a special place. Customer service was five star and could be compared to some of the top end hotels of the world. In fact, better than most five stars hotels that I have stayed in like the JW Marriott and Taj. Fantastic location in the old quarter. The rooms are nice and roomy but the bathroom was not as nice one would get in a four star hotel. Overall package and the price point makes it a very compelling choice

This hotel was an amazing start to our trip to Vietnam. The hotel was in an excellent location, near to the St. Joseph Cathedral and only a short walk from the old quarter. Really big rooms, clean and wonderful staff. Good selection at breakfast with food cooked to order. Best thing was the staff. They were so nice and super helpful. I enjoy creature comforts while traveling. Many of which this hotel had: \"turbo\" air conditioner, comfortable beds, clean towels, hot shower, friendly and helpful staff. The lack of an elevator for a 6 level hotel made things a bit dicey for a BIG American Guy like myself. But, let me be clear this \"budget hotel\" meets expectations. No more, no less. They do a good job and you'll get a good night's rest.

Also, we had belongings STOLEN from our room by the hotel staff but nothing was done about this other than waiving airport pickup and drop off fees which weren’t even a quarter the price of the stolen goods. Don’t stay here, your belongings are not safe.

Stayed in this hotel for one night on the way back from ha long bay and it was a great place to stay when visiting the city. Set back off the main road makes it a lot quieter than some of the other hotels in the city. The staff were super friendly and helpful providing us with everything we needed. They even booked us a very cheap transfer to the airport which made it a lot easier when grab can be a bit hit and miss from the airport. With a really good breakfast included too this hotel was a great price and just as good as the one we stayed in the other night we were in Hanoi which was double the price.

We had a nice stay at Splendid Star. The staff is exceptional and helped a lot with booking an overnight bus to Sa Pa and to the airport. They were able to throughly explain our options for transportation and book the right one for us. Location is convenient to many points of interest and there’s great food/coffee all around. Note, since it’s a narrow street, cars cannot come directly to the hotel, but that was not a problem as the pickup person from any of the excursions / bus came to get us on foot and we walked to the vehicle. Other than that it’s a pretty standard 3/3.5 star hotel.

Although hotel room was adequate for our stay as we weren't in the room that long & didn't require much; the photos on the booking looked a lot different to what we had. Hotel staff were lovely & attentive. Location makes it walking distance to most old town sights.

The hotel markets itself as a 4 star hotel but it’s really a 2-3 star hotel. It is so old and dirty. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting and I had to wear shower shoes. The room had a werid smell. The pictures of the hotel does not look like the room at all. NOT EVEN CLOSE. the carpet was old and smelly. They had some stains on the wall. My faucet would leak when I would turn it on. The shower head was broken.
I asked for half refund but they wouldn’t allow it. We finally got a new room the next day and it was BARELY BETTER.

Staff were great. Breakfast had a good tasty selection. Went of the recommended Ha Long Bay boat trip which was well worth it. Wifi access intermittent in the room but hey, you don’t go to Vietnam to surf the web. You can do that at home. Overall, for the price, friendliness, location, this place is excellent value for money.

Right in the heart of the French Quarter. Very convenient to walk to the night markets. Hotel is on a side street so it is very quiet at night. Customer service was excellent. You can book all kinds of tours from the hotel. We booked our luxury tour to Ha Long bay there.
