I made my reservation on online with the room of my choice, I went down there hoping to stay in the room which I paid for , surprisingly they gave me another postcode, hotel and totally different room. Very dirty and untidy. I have no option than to leave room the same night that I meant to there to have some good rest. Very deceiving , I’m totally disappointed, will never recommend

I was sent to another hotel when I booked here. It was a 10-minute walk from Britannia. The second reception I arrived at then directed me to a room in a third building. It was not worth the effort! The room was OK but full of the scent of weed from outside. Staff were polite but hardly friendly and frankly I felt like a burden! The shower wasn't great either. I appreciate it's a budget hotel but all in all, I won't be going back.

My room was clean, bed linen clean, towels clean, bathroom clean. Mattress was firm, no dips. Furniture a bit tired, but what are your expectations of a private hotel at this price? Mine are a clean and secure place to kip. Got that, with helpful and polite staff, well-lit courtyard and 24h attendance. I would stay again.

Beware they may send you somewhere else!!!

When we arrived I discovered there is no car park. There is a couple of spaces out the front. I asked at the front desk and after taking £100 deposit (2025!!) I was then informed that we weren’t in this hotel, apparently it’s OK for them to just have another hotel on the other side of Ilford and put you in that hotel. There was no mention of this in the many emails the hotel sent informing me of how to check in and the need to pay £100 deposit at check in.

As I was in London for a concert I didn’t have time to argue so I took the postcode of the new “hotel up the road”.

This took us to a petrol station on Ilford High Street. The “hotel” is actually serviced apartment’s. There is no parking. If you are very very lucky you will get on the side of the road. Otherwise it’s a shopping centre car park near Ilford tube which is then a 20 min walk back “hotel”.

We went up to our room, past the shared kitchen with someone cooking a curry and past the bloke who had his flat door open sat in his pants on his bed. Our room was basic. It was clean. The pillows were pointless. The mattress was about an inch thick. Duvet I think they forgot the duvet part. Bath towels large enough for a toddler. The room was incredibly hot. The windows are about as soundproof as cling film. The room is on a very busy London high street so is very loud. Lesson learned.

Was handled by Sarah and she was amazing, made us feel very comfortable. Very professional and welcoming. They had limited parking spaces but we were lucky to find one on site. Room and bathroom was clean, comfortable and not bad for the price. I do think they could do with new bedding and carpets, they do look old. In their emails they state free breakfast subject to availability which i thought was misleading as they had told us we had to pay £7 extra for breakfast. Regardless was not bad

The bed and the pillows were not the most comfortable and when sitting on the toilet it had to be done sideways which isn't comfortable. The service was really good, when we requested extra pillows and the fan they happily obliged and allowed us to keep our car parked at the hotel after we had checked out which was really helpful l

I had booked in with britannia inn hotel upon reaching there they said they don’t have room available so you need to go to another hotel we have talked to them to accommodate to you. I asked her if the room is better than what we have paid for already she said yes it is definitely an upgrade but when we reached after walking 10 minutes more that hotel named western hotel ilford have shifted us to their oldest building in which upon entering the corridor was smelling and then when we reached the room that was also smelling.
I asked the receptionist he provided with room freshener for only once and said give it back right now.
After that when we tried to sleep someone started fighting in the corridor and it was very loud few moment later someone was moved in our front room and even when they are going into the room by using the key the noise of even that thing was very clear in the room.
Then shower had only hot water cold water was non existent.
Overall it was a horrible horrible stay and also the check in process was even worst for me

I booked hotel with Britannia inn , I went to reception and lady at reception was very rude . I received an email before check in that I need to pay 100 security deposit. I wanted to pay and she starting asking me for 300. I showed her that I email it’s mentioned that I need to pay 100 security deposits. Then after long conversation she said to pay 100. Not even single time she apologised for her rude behaviour. After payment she said we don’t have room available and we 6 guest including children need to go to another hotel which was about 1 KM away. We had lot of luggage and it took us about 15 minutes to reach there. I went to best western hotel and manager there was nice but they send to to another building which was a guest house not hotel. People were making noises till 12 AM in the guest house and out stay wasn’t really pleasant .
I want to add, If I booking rooms in one hotel they shouldn’t send us to another hotel. If they have any problems they should let us know before arriving. I was not expecting such bad experience with Britannia Inn

It was okay for tge night. I was told to give a deposit of £100, which was strange as I have paid for the hotel use before coming to the hotel. I think that if they were going to ask for that it should have been incorporated into the payment, so that helps to consider the use of the hotel.

★☆☆☆☆ Absolutely awful — avoid this hotel!

Booked a family room for 3 nights, but when we arrived late after a long journey, we were told (only after paying a £100 deposit) that we couldn’t stay due to a \"leak.\" We were sent to a disgusting “partner” hotel (Lucky 8) in a filthy alleyway full of rats and bins. The room was dirty, sheets and bathroom were filthy, and it was nothing like what we booked. I later saw reviews from others who had the exact same issue months ago — so clearly, they lie and scam customers regularly. We left in the middle of the night with two kids and had to find another hotel which was not easy. Total scam and false advertising. Do not book here. Hotel.com also don't want to take any responsibilities. The pictures did not give back how dirty was the room (especially the carpet and the beds) and the bathroom. Also the Top of the toilet seat was missing.

Room we stayed in this time was small bit everything we needed. Downside was guests above us had loose floorboards so heard every step and pigeons right outside our window making an awful noise constantly!

Failed to be even a basically decent hotel

I didn’t stay at this hotel as when I arrived they told me that the room was under maintenance and sent me to another hotel down the road. The room was okay, however it was outdated and needed some proper tlc. People were also going up and down the hall knocking on random doors at 12am making me extremely anxious. Breakfast was diabolical, with two hard boiled eggs, some fruit, some cheese, a hard croissant and a yogurt. Hardly the full English breakfast shown on the hotels website.

The beds were uncomfortable and the double was just two single beds pushed together and held together by a sheet. The shower was okay but I kept being squirted in the eye while showering as the head wasn’t screwed on properly.

It was also a bit concerning that the reception wasn’t even in the same building as my hotel room it was across the street.

Wish I saw earlier that there was no air con. The two fans helped, but the single tiny window in the bathroom was not enough to allow fresh air in. Also, why was I sent to another building? The only explanation I got was “maintenance issues” which is what you say when you have no idea or can’t be bothered to give an answer.

We had booked three rooms, only two of which came up to the expected standard, the third room was most disappointing to us, no kettle, no tv remote control, only one towel which had to be used to mop up the water in the wet room in order to use the bathroom facilities.

We would like a refund for the room booking.

Again not the Brittania as booked. 2nd hotel wanted to charge again £100 security deposit which is refundable and also said we needed to pay extra for breakfast which according to my booking confirmation is included!!! Bit of a poor show overall

Serious Warning: Avoid This Property!
This hotel appears to operate a deceptive scheme. Upon arrival, they demanded an additional significant sum for potential damages, which was not disclosed upfront. After payment, they claimed no rooms were available due to maintenance issues and refused a refund. This forced me to accept alternative accommodation, despite the hotel showing vacant rooms on Expedia.

Crucially, they marked me as \"checked in,\" preventing me from canceling the booking. My assigned \"room\" was not in the hotel itself, but in a shared house at a different address, a significant downgrade from what was booked, and at an inflated price due to their added charge.

This establishment engages in highly questionable practices. I urge Expedia to investigate how such operations are permitted on their platform.

So disappointed. Went to hotel and he changed me for security £100 after payments everything he told me go to another hotel which is in 5 minute by car and we will give u room there .then i went to another place and that was kids nursery and 50 plus baby stroller was there in hall m then i went to my room and i didn't sleep at all bcz there were kids with parents and all day crying playing in front of my room.. i had extremely bad experience. I just wasted my money. Better not to book room ever in this hotel they will send u to another's places to stay there

I wanted to find a hotel with a car park close to station for London. This hotel fitted perfectly. The young lady at reception was wonderful, taking account of my poor hearing. She took me out into the street to explain the 5 minute walk to Ilford Elizabeth Line station. Personally, I had no complaints with this hotel. I should add though that my partner found the other residents were noisy during the night. Sometimes having poor hearing is a blessing. I do recommend the Britannia Hotel.

Got to the hotel to be told i was staying at great western 5 minutes down the road. Got there and then went from that hotel to argyle. Eventually got a room. The room smelt of damp. A hole in the wall. A front door that had a winter that looked over the bed. A hole in the floor that no one told me about and i nearly broke my ankle. There was no hot water, stains on the carpet.

please dont stay there for godsake- worst hotel

transparent curtain and it was torn. due to bright light in the morning around 4:30 AM. was unable to sleep. tried my best and called them around 7 am with lot of difficulty.

person attended after 3 calls (I was asked to go to reception which was few blocks away). the person attended- did not even apologise for the inconvinience. kept telling that no one had complained before (kept repeating the same)- she pretended and ignoring the casual relationship of bright light and sleep.

she even blamed (retracting later)- me. I could surmise that she is not experienced and owners of the place just recruited random cheap labours. their motivation is just moneyt dont value anything else (most definately they are asians- even I am).

towels were- little bigger than hand kerchief.

reception/ was accusing me that i am trying to check out later with this blame (transparent curtain- bright light seeping through). I had to rent another room (still not graet but little less transparent- i had to sleep as i did not sleep for more than 3 hours- as i went to bed late after few drinks with friends)

-another issues is- booked for brittania- i was sent to best western which was half a mile away with poor direction skills. may be both franchise owned by the same rougue owners.

Dust on wardrobes and rubbish in drawers. No kettle, you have to ask for 1. Carpets need to be cleaned. Grounded in dirt in the carpets, didn't want to walk around without any shoes on. Front of house was pleasantly at all times. No iron in room and when you asked, they are very over used by tape on the wire to cover it. The mirror in the bathroom the paint was peeling off the frame which looked untidy. Pillows are flat like they have been run over, no plump in them. I have stayed in many hotel's and all grades to rate them for people, this was very low standed at this place, ok if you're just a quick visit.

Not very happy with service or quality of amenities. Although I've stayed into his hotel before this time it was quite poor. The lock on my door was not working, after bringing it to the attention of the receptionist he said it will be done within the hour..only for me to return 6 hours later with the same problem. Furthermore my car was blocked on the drive by another car so manoeuvring out was very difficult.
Would not recommend to anyone wishing a restful stay.

I would not stay there again . I went to the hotel that i booked and paid a deposit then to be told that i am staying in a hotel 10 mins away. So after walking to next hotel i was then take to a room that was very worn out and rough round the edges. I was then woken up all night by people slamming doors all night and shouting.

So the hotel over all was good but we stayed in the best Western part down the road and we had a terrible nights sleep due to the celing being so thin we had people above us a 11pm deciding to bang around drag furniture and just be as loud as they could.

Upon arrival I was told that I would be staying at their \"sister company\" which was only 5 minutes down the road. Unfortunately, this was closer to a 20-25 minute walk away in a completely different direction.

Once I had checked into the room, it was clear the hotel had seen better days, a fire alarm was beeping constantly because the battery had ran out, the room didn't feel very secure due to flimsy locks and the hotel in general was extremely noisy due to doors constantly banging.

Ended up cutting my stay short and checking out a day early. When asking staff questions, there were very few answers except email head office.

For the price, our room was reasonable. (£50 for one night)

Could do with a bit of a refresh and maybe some spare pillows. Bed was reasonably comfortable and warm.

Shower cubicle is a little small and the shower needs a bit more grunt, as it's a bit of a trickle (new washer in the handset would help).

If you were staying for a few days, there's a little kitchenette between a couple of the rooms, arranged like a 2 room apartment. Had a fridge and microwave in our room too.

Was clean and tidy, though the smell of bleach was a little overpowering.

I have been using the facility for the last more than 6 months staying there for few days almost every month and it worth's the money. although it becomes little noisy when the house is full and all the rooms are occupied but does not bother much.
The rooms are clean and staff is cooperative and friendly.
Manager Mr Haseeb takes care of everything at personal level and it always ready with a smiley face to listen and help you.

very bad experience. I called the hotel to underline for them that I was about to book and arrival time would have been 3 am due to flight delay. The flight being late was the only reason I wanted a hotel not to drive in the night. they confirmed it was ok to check in at that time. Additionally, I expressively asked confirmation of having the parking on the property's door for safety as I own a luxury car. they said yes. Got there and the arrangement did not match what I va been told at all: the last available parking space was 5 minutes by foot away in an unsafe-looking neighbourhood. And once I have Been given the room and I walked into it at almost 4 am, the heating was off. it was freezing, that room had not been used for weeks as well. it was impossible to sleep there in the cold and I left driving home in the middle of the night. the following day I called the manager explaining all that happened and they also denied me a refund. not even partial.

The Hotel was absolutely hirandace, they didn’t any sort of compensation. Only a 10% he offered on following reservation. The was a next story was a whole filth! what can I say it doest get any better gets worse.

It was dirt on the carpets and pillows where the lowest ever Quality and I asked for further pillows and the coneirge”they don’t have further pillow” so I had live with that..

Very good value!

Just under £40 (assuming I get the damage deposit of £100 back!). Extremely good electrics - with no less than 12 sockets, and a USB point, TV, fridge and microwave. The bed was comfortable and everything was very clean. I had off-street parking, but there are only 3 spaces, so I was lucky. Parking restrictions in the nearby streets apply after 8am, which might be a problem if you're a late riser. The reception staff were very friendly both in the morning and in the evening. The only negative point (which actually did not apply to me as I was so very tired I would have slept through an earthquake) was that the door opening on to the permanently lit courtyard at the back had a window (with frosted glass) which had neither blind nor curtain, so that the room was lit (albeit indirectly) throughout the whole night, and was never in darkness. This could be remedied by fixing a blind or curtain, and I would suggest to the owners that they do so.

I booked with Britannia Inn but after checking in they sent me to Lucky 8 Hote and it’s a nightmare.

Reception are rude, racist and unhelpful.

The lights are switching off every minute. I reported to their reception but instead of helping me they blame me and they want to charge me.

Never never to this hotel, avoid at all if you don’t what to have problem

Worst experience so far

I arrived at the hotel where I was charged £100 as an additional deposit for the period. After I was checked in, I was informed that there was no room available and I was sent to another structure that has been infested with bedbugs and guests were in discomfort from bedbugs bites. I refused to stay in that facility and after much heated discussion, I was sent to another structure that was full of moulds etc. The whole experience was a nightmare.

The beds are all gone, we were unable to sleep as the mattress was not comfortable at all, the room wiil require some refurbishment. Though we had a free parking which is good, plus you have to deposit £100 🤔, what if someone does not have that much to put down, i really don't know the logic behind the £100

Horrible customer service

I made the booking online and I arrived late, after 12 am from Scotland. ( 8 hours driving). I received the company policy at 11:33 pm by email, so I did not manage to prepare for the 100 pounds card deposit. ( I only had cash available at the time of arrival) The receptionist did not let us stay, although we had nowhere else to go, so we had to sleep in the car.
Would never go back or recommend to anyone. Very unfriendly service.

Breakfast is Frustrating, Don’t Pay for it

I booked and paid with breakfast, what they served is only slice bread, egg, small packets of jams and coffee. I don’t drink coffee so I asked for juice or water but they said they don’t serve, so that’s disappointing and frustrating.

Lastly, during checkout I waited for about 15mins because no one in the reception area, total of 6 people waited.
