The room was very clean and spacious. The staff was great and helpful. I enjoyed the way breakfast was done here. They would bring it the night before, and we had breakfast in our comfort in our room. I enjoyed the location but if you want to be close to the center then this place is not for you unless you don’t mind walking 20 minutes. I highly recommend this place.

Positives: The apartment was clean and business was well run. Communication with the host was excellent, they were very responsive.
Negatives: The bathroom needs updating. I would have preferred a hot breakfast but the breakfast tray ( included a variety of breads, pastries, OJ, milk, cereal, and a small plate of ham and cheese) was adequate. Walls are thin.
Need to know: Location is near the edge of town. Consider staying here if you have a rental car.
Overall a cute and cozy stay. We enjoyed it for our family of 4.

The cabin we stayed in was a charming, rustic retreat with two floors. Surrounded by lush trees and vibrant flowers, it was the perfect setting to unwind. One of the thoughtful touches was the breakfast delivery the night before, which allowed us to enjoy it whenever we pleased. The breakfast selection was generous, and the staff were warm and accommodating. We also appreciated the traditional meals served at the nearby restaurant, which were cooked to perfection.

This is a good place to stay. Clean and nice, big cabins in a cozy property.

Pros: Helpful staff, well equipped rooms and cereal & toasts breakfast.

Cons: No 24hrs front desk and no convinces stores walking distance.

Acceptable beds in a cabin well equipped, the hotel has a restaurant, the only walkable option, but the zone has great restaurants if you go by car.

What a great place to stay. Front desk staff was
Welcoming informative and helpful. We were allowed to check in early. Our cabin was quality clean and well
So tan Ed. There was an upper balcony with a door, a lower deck on the front facing the afternoon sun. Bedrooms are up some tight stairs. Bed was firm but very comfortable. Shower had hot hot generous water. Breakfast was generous and allowed us to use some of it to make snack sandwiches for our day out. It is a bit of a walk from town, 2k walk from the bus station (or 8000ar peso cab ride). There is a shorter walk to a bakery/cafe and to the shoreline. There is a small restaurant cafe on site.

We had two early morning departures but waited less than 5 min for a cab to arrive.

I would recommend staying here. The hosts were delightful.

Beautiful little hideaway

The grounds are beautiful, bursting with flowers that are clearly well tended to. Room itself has nice charm and a beautiful view of the lake. We arrived extremely late due to a flight delay, but we were met by a member of their staff who drove to the hotel after midnight to check us in. They also reached out to arrange our airport pickup, which was really appreciated. Staff was incredibly nice and made us feel very welcome. Breakfast delivery is to your door the night before, nice touch. We walked into town in about 30 minutes using the low road by the riverside, which we enjoyed. My only complaint is that the water sometimes worked in our unit, and sometimes didn’t come out of the taps at all. We didn’t bring this to the attention of the staff so I’m not sure if there was anything they could do to fix it.

The sweetest place

This place is so cute and cozy. The food is delicious. The staff is so sweet! They arranged taxi pick up and drop off from the airport. The Wi-Fi is bad toward the further away cabanas, so might not be an idea location if you have to work. The food at the restaurant is excellent! Tours also pick up from this location.

Loved this property during our stay. Everyday around 7 pm they came with a beautiful breakfast tray which made it very convient for morning excursions. The main girl that worked there made our stay super welcoming. Beds are comfortable and our room had a full size kitchen. Overall would stay here again

Excellent rooms but a little worn

Clean, comfortable, plenty of hot water, and a great view. The space is showing wear around the edges. The staff is great. The breakfast is adequate, but barely. The WiFi is slow. Bottom line - there's nothing wrong with the rooms but there's nothing great about them either. This will work better for you if you have a car.

Value for the money. Very attentive service. Generous breakfast every morning in the room. Accoutrements in the room a little dated, but you came here for nature not to sleep in a room. The key system if you are used to american locks a little bit annoying. Takes practice. The view spectacular. But it's vacation, enjoy.

Interesting place

Very nice place. People that work there were very friendly and helpful. It's a ways to town (long walk, better to have a car or take taxi). They bring breakfast to your room the night before. Breakfast was more limited than most but was fine for our needs. More like staying in a little cabin than a normal hotel room.

We loved our one night stay here, just wished it could be longer. We had our own little cabin, breakfast was on a tray the night before which made it very leisurely. Great views of lake and mountains. Nice gardens and friendly service.

Beware of owner

The owner lacks bedside manner; maybe he was having a bad day. As he was showing me the cabin i felt like I wasn't allowed to use most of the basic facilities. I can appreciate conserving gas/water however his attitude was not welcoming and I felt like he was taiking down to me which made it very unpleasant. The towels were stained but I thought, hey they are just old. I got back from an excursion and he greated me with a complaint. I stained his towels and he was trying to \"save them\" i advised him that they were in that condition before i even used them. Customer service goes a LONG way. I didn't dispute the charges, booked and paid for 5 nights and checked out after the second. The young man at the front desk was polite and helpful, he should be running the place.

close to glacier further from airport. if you have a rental car be prepared to wait in line for one of two gas stations.. they bring your breakfast to you the night before because you have a little kitchen to prepare the food.

Very nice mini-townhouse set-up with great view of lake from bedroom balcony. 1st floor had a kitchen, full bath and living room/dining area. Very cute. We walked to town but probably to far for most. If you drive there is parking & there is also taxi service. Staff was great and very friendly. Everything very clean. They drop off a hardy breakfast the night before for you to prepare in your own kitchen...so it was nice not to have to shower and dress to go to breakfast. The place oozes with character!

Wonderful hotel walking distance from city center.

Wonderful hotel. Great, friendly service. The front desk representative fronted me money to go on a tour from his own pocket without hesitation. The food was delicious. Breakfast was hand delivered to my room each night. I received reminders from the front desk about upcoming tours. The hotel is a bit far away from city center, but I easily walked to and from the hotel each day (roughly 30 minutes). Beautiful, quiet downtown area. Very friendly people. I highly recommend this hotel to everyone. Although I was traveling alone, I would consider this hotel a must for families.

Cosy hotel, very convenient for tours

Very helpful and friendly staff. We stayed over Christmas and Solares colleagues managed to sort out tours to all of the main attractions at the last minute. The location is ideal for the tours - you get picked up last and dropped off first, compared to the hotels in the centre of town, saving a lot of time.

It wasn't good enough to be so far out of town.

We stayed here with our 7 and 4 year olds. The cabin was nice enough and the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful when arranging e.g. a rental car. But a rental car was needed because the hotel is a long way from anywhere you'd want to go in Calafate. You can walk, but it's quite a long way and not a particularly pleasant walk.

I was surprised by the TripAdvisor awards on the wall.

nice cabana with breakfast!

we stayed in this cabin at the end of our bike tour in Chile and loved it! we had a private bedroom and our friends stayed in the two twin beds. the breakfast was nice. we used the kitchenette for dinner. it was a little out of the downtown area but had a nice view. the staff was really nice and spoke english well. they arranged a taxi to bring us to the airport with our big bike boxes in the back.

This hotel is a short and inexpensive taxi ride out of town or a 30 min walk but well worth the effort. The view from our bedroom was spectacular. The self contained cabin was clean and spacious. The staff friendly, helpful, and spoke good English. The attached restaurant served great food and had the most amazing view of the lake - why eat in town?

Very reasonable 2 bedroom apartment hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful lake view from the main bedroom and balcony. Good restaurant. Walls are thin, so you hear noises from another bedroom and adjoining apartments. Kitchen is well equipped. 15 minutes walk from town center, or 5 minutes drive.
For the space, location and service, excellent value for money.

This cozy little place is a gem that shouldn't be missed. The cabanas are clean, spacious and offer outstanding views of Lago Argentino. The service is what truly sets it apart though. Sergio and Martin take such good care of the guests, from recommending and booking tours for local attractions to the late-afternoon delivery of the next morning's breakfast tray. The only small drawback is the moderate walk to downtown, which is only a $5US cab ride if you prefer that. We loved it here!

Wonderful & Beautiful!

Solares was our favourite hotel in Argentina! Martin & Sergio are both so helpful and have all the info you need about visiting national parks/glaciers, estancias, car hire, etc. They book everything for you and they don't overcharge. We stayed in the lovely 'honeymoon cottage' which had a little balcony with a view of the lake - took some beautiful sunset/sunrise pictures from there. A simple breakfast was provided in our room everyday (juice, milk, tea, coffee, cornflakes, bread, cake, butter, jams). Solares can also provide you with a good packed lunch if you are out for the whole day (or you can buy food from the many supermarkets in town). Have dinner in their restaurant Quidu - it has huge windows overlooking the lake & town, and good wine and food (Patagonian Lamb!). The only downside is that it is a little far from the centre of town and it takes about 40/50 mins to walk (you could take a taxi) to the restaurants and supermarkets. At night, there are no lights on the main road (pitch black) and there is no sign showing the turning for Solares (there is a sign for Hostel Fresnos which is on the same street). So remember the landmarks when you walk out for the first time! There is a confiteria and a small supermarket on the walk into town. Use VES airport transfer bus to and from the airport as they will drop you directly to your hotel. I'd love to go back because Patagonia is beautiful and Solares Del Sur is a charming little place. I hope it always stays that way.

We really enjoyed our stay at this complex. The timber cabin was very relaxing and comfortable. It was nice to have the extra space you don't get from a hotel room. The receptions staff were very friendly and helpful with booking excursions. We were very impressed with the restaurant menu. Packed luches were also available for excursions days which was great. The complex was 25 minutes walk to the centre of el calafate but had a footpath and was a safe area so we didn't mind. Would definetely stay here again if in the area.

We are a family of 5 and we stayed here for 3 nights while seeing the surrounding area. The staff was so kind and helpful and always went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed. They were very helpful setting up a tour for us to see the glacier and gave us a variety of options of what we could do.
The cabins are large with 2 bedrooms upstairs and a kitchen, sitting area/table and bathroom downstairs.
Breakfast is included, which is delivered the night before. Not the best food, but there is cereal and milk which was fine.
The cabins are a bit outside of town (25-30 min walk) so it can be a hassle to go back and forth for dinner/groceries, but the front desk will happily call you a cab which costs around USD$4. We would usually walk one way and take a cab the other way.
We enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it to others.

Nice, quaint hotel located a little outside El Calafate. Great service and the people really helped me with the tour packages I closed ahead of time. Good thing I did before I arrived as many of the great tours (Big Ice & Glaciares) were sold out. To go to El Calafate and not partake in these tours would be a crime.
Hotel is not close to the city, but with cheap cabs this is no big deal. We walked it in about 20 minutes. We spent our New Years at the hotel and the restaurant provided a great menu (and great wine).
Breakfast was delivered the night before to the room, so that we could eat at our leisure before we headed out for the days activities. Reheated coffee is not the best option. Hotel could offer a little more variety at Breakfast, as we got tired of the same break, cake everyday.
Our cabin (cabana) was very clean and offered two rooms upstairs and a dining room/tv/kitchen down below. The cabin temperature was ideal and kept out the cold.
The hotel staff was excellent and were always available to help.
Going back to El Calafate, I would return!

FYI. Tour packages only accept CASH, so make sure you are prepared...

Os passeios normalmente começam bem cedo , pensando nisso a hospedagem deixa no dia anterio a cesta do cafe da manhã no quarto. Fique receosa nesta informação , por ter tido experiências negativas , mas quando vimos a cesta com fatia de pao, bolo, geleia/doce de leite, leite, salada de fruta, chá/cafe ( pó)/ chocolate..., gostei muito.
Na cozinha tem itens básico para preparar.
Unico porém é na questão do aquecer do quarto , fica próximo da cama, pode incomodar o calor excesso, deveria ficar mais afastado. Em todas hospedagens que passei repete.

Buen hotel, sin embargo tiene algunas cosas cosas que podría mejorar, el wifi fue muy malo, era difícil tener una buena conexión, los colchones de las camas eran duros, en lo personal no me gustan las camas duras, falta mejorar el pan del desayuno (estaba duro).
El hotel estaba limpio, la atención del personal excelente y muy amables siempre, la vista al lago muy bonita.

Fuimos muy bien atendidos, tanto por el personal como por los duenios.. La habitacion que seleccionamos (romantica) estuvo dentro de nuestras aspiraciones..La vista, el estado de sus jardines,la comodidad , estuvo todo muy bien. Lo unico a destacar es que esta a 16 cuadras del centro y hacerlo a pie es algo cansador.

No había personal durante varias horas del día. El desayuno te lo llevan a la casa por lo que hay menos opciones y solo podes comer lo que te llevan. En familia es más difícil. La calefacción hacía que la cabaña pareciera un sauna. Muy difícil de regular. El baño no andaba llame y me explico cómo repararlo en ves de pedir disculpas y reparado bien. Luego lo reparó el. Los colchones son de gomaespuma muy incómodos.

La Facturacion.-

La estadía en el calafate muy buena como siempre, lo único que no me gusto, es que tenia que abonar una diferencia de iva, no se podía pagar con crédito ni débito, era de contado, lo abone y solicito la factura, la empleada me informa lo anoto y mañana se la dan, me retire y no la tenían poco serio, hasta el día de hoy estoy esperando la facturación.-
