Absolutely stunning location right on Lake Annecy. Took about 25-30 minutes to drive to Annecy itself. Rooms relatively simple but very comfortable beds and perfectly well appointed. Staff all very friendly. Only disappointment is that bar food options were limited to cheese/charcuterie boards - this left us with limited options with one pregnant person and one small child. It would have been very helpful to have a couple more options for food so that we could have eaten in the hotel with our young daughter without needing to book the gastronomique restaurant at €80pp - the menu at the time of our stay didn’t really take our fancy, although I’m sure it would have been delicious. I expect this situation is improved in the high season when the bistronomique restaurant opens. In the end we walked into town and ate at Cafe de Place, which was a lovely authentic restaurant.

The Abbaye is a great venue with amazing views of the lake and is so peaceful. We had a fabulous room with views of the lake and mountains, long balcony, comfortable bed everythingyou need in the room. The staff were great helpful and approachable. The Spa facilities are good we had it to ourselves as this is out of season. We had a lovely 4 day stay.

We really enjoyed our stay of 3 nights and hope to make it back again in the next few years. The hotel is well situated in Talloires with access to a number of great restaurants within walking distance. The pontoon deck out front is relaxing, though they were understaffed in being able to provide good service. The spa is also a nice touch that you’d typically find in more expensive hotels.

Our stay at the Abbey was pretty nice. The hotel grounds and its location on the lake make it beautiful and picturesque. The room we stayed in was very dated and extremely basic - the furniture was not pleasing to the eye at all and there was zero charm to the room whatsoever. I feel like it was overpriced for the quality of the room but if you’re paying for location then it’s a fair price. Having the private deck on the lake for hotel guests was a nice touch. The breakfast was pretty good with a nice selection although a bit overpriced as well. The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. The bed was comfortable but the WiFi was almost non existent. Despite the room being overpriced I would stay here again for the fact that the location is beautiful and peaceful.

Vive L'Abbatte (for another 1000 years)

Staying for a couple of days to visit family. Love L'Abbaye - although it doesn't have an elevator, so not good for those of us who may have physical or age problems! But the staff helped greatly. The hotel is lovely, the paintings and other displays mouth watering, and the location is beyond beautiful.

Beautiful hotel; stunning surroundings

The Abbaye is situated right on Lake Annecy with private access to the lake, complete with loungers The gardens are lovely and you can sit outside enjoying a leisurely kir royale while soaking up the view. Inside the Abbaye has been beautifully restored as a hotel, and art gallery - changing exhibitions of local artists (painters, potters) adorn the walls (and are for sale, should you so wish). Our first room was with a lake view - it was small - somewhat monastic, with not a lot of space should you have as much luggage as we had. Because of an impending wedding in the hotel, we were moved to a garden view room, which was significantly larger which we felt was much better for us (and the luggage!). There is no lift, so people who cannot climb stairs should perhaps look elsewhere. The staff are warm and helpful. (One of them kindly reversed by car out of the car park as I am so useless at reversing!). I would definitely recommend L'Abbaye for a special stay; it is one of a kind.

Delightful location in an old historic setting. Small rooms (I guess French clergy did not need large personal space...) and mixed feelings at the concierge: some professional friendly faces, some remind you why French make you feel that they do you a favor to be there for you.

Beautiful location, charming and relaxing .

We had a wonderful time there staying four night. The staff is very friendly, hotel has amazing charm, the combination of modern and old time spirit. A special thank you to the staff, because my husband left his valet in the lobby full of cash, but he discovered it next morning. The valet was returned to us - we were very happy to find it safe. The lake is warm, even in September, clean and views are beautiful. You need to have a car to drive to the city - 15 min and many beautiful places around the lake, it was wonderful to walk in the city and enjoy food, views and the atmosphere with mountain and many castles. We found the parking very reasonable if you use the whole day around 7-8 euros.
The breakfast is 25 euro , but you have buffet and diversity of choices.

We would like to come back again and spend more time there

We had 1 night at the hotel and were very impressed. The room we had was perhaps smaller than average but was well equipped, comfortable and clean. The hotel itself is a fantastic building, right on the lake with it's own pier on which to sunbathe. The area of Talloires is a little on the pricey side but with such great views of the lake and mountains it's not hard to understand why. The only annoyance was that the hotel's restaurant was closed on a Tuesday, but the reception staff advised us of a range of restaurants in the area which were in walking distance. We really enjoyed our stay (even in the heatwave!) and are already planning our next holiday here!

Fabulous day and night at Talloires

We stayed one night during a tour of France. We booked it because we couldn't get into our first choice which was in Annecy. Thank goodness. Talloires is small, secluded and charming and the hotel has everything you could want. So pretty, plenty of shade, private pontoon for swimming, tables under the trees just by, easy parking, as it was about 39 degrees this was all very welcome. The staff were fantastic - nothing was too much trouble. I am already planning a longer stay!

WATCH THE TIME OF THE YEAR

If you choose the right time of year, probably mid-June to mid-September, this hotel is a wonderful choice. We were a bit too early in the season (mid-May), encountered rain and very cool weather. The restaurant was not open on a daily basis yet (except for breakfast) so we had to leave the hotel in the rain to have dinner. Definitely too early in the season to enjoy water activities. Lake and mountain setting is beautiful any time of year.

GREAT location and staff

Be careful when you reserve a room if you expect to eat at the hotel and have all of the facilities open and available. the hotel is very special and it's location is truly amazing but i was disappointed that the restaurant was not open the two nights i was there and likewise the bar was closed so you could not even have a drink on the terrace before you went foraging for an alternate location to eat. the staff is terrific.

Amazing Location, unfortunately we visited whilst they were undergoing renovations for the roof and exterior. We had a smell of fresh paint in the room, so obviously major renovations underway. Ancient building right on the lake

We stayed at this hostelry several times in the 1980's and were pleased to find that relatively little has changed. Talloires, like every place else, has grown more crowded and touristy but L' Abbe is still a fine place to stay. Beautiful view over the lake and swimming from the dock. A room facing the lake is a must.

We stayed here on our way to the south of France, and wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel is right on the lake, which is swimmable and has aquatic rentals nearby. Rooms were fine, but no elevator. We wish there was an affordable snack bar area, but instead there is a more formal restaurant which did not suit our style. Overall, an enjoyable stay.

If this hotel wasn't a 4 star hotel and priced accordingly I wouldn't have been so harsh on the rating. The good things are that it is in an amazingly beautiful location and the Abbaye is a really great place to stay because of its history but while I can understand the the rooms being aged I don't see why the bathrooms can't be redone. The bathrooms looked like they were out of a motel six. The tvs had a max volume that was too low to actually hear, which made sense because the adjacent rooms could be easily overheard. Oh yeah, and the breakfasts are crazy expensive for what you get. That being said, I am extremely happy that I stayed there, would I stay again? Not unless they make some upgrades.

Lovely Hotel and location. There is a lack of hot water in the rooms and dont eat in the restaurant. There is only 2 choices for each course and the menue only changes every 10 days! It is outrageously expensive with no bottle of wine on the list below 80 euro. 5 star prices here.

the lake is beautiful, but our rooom was horribly

The hotel cost was very high for few ammenities. I swam in the lake to stay cool, as our room was sweltering, until ten pm. i resent a price fixed menu, ie: 50 0r 90 euros for dinner in the hotel, so we ate elsewhere. the room was small, hot and at the end of the hall. we kept door open and the balcony door, to try and get air. iI would not stay there again.

The hotel is beautiful, with friendly staff and lovely surroundings. Only down sides were that the jacuzzi was a bit cool and the breakfast was 25euro a head! For a standard continental breakfast this is incredibly poor value for money. Take a tip and avoid it, there are lots of places nearby.

L Abbaye De Talloires- a quiet haven

Our party of four stayed for a night at L Abbaye. After driving through the French Alps, we were in need of a good rest and were glad to have chosen this quiet haven. Nestled by the lake with the Chamonix rising grandly behind, we particularly enjoyed the spectacular scenery here.
Service was prompt but we had to lug our luggage up 2 flights of stairs- one of the downsides of staying in an old property. Rooms were adequate although the furnishing in one of our rooms was a little shabby and dated, and there were cracks in the plaster ceiling ( the other room looked like it had been recently refurbished). However, the beds were comfortable and bathrooms were clean.
We enjoyed dinner at the restaurant and were glad that one of the waiters could explain the menu to us in English (although having an English menu would have been better).
We enjoyed our stay here but there could certainly be improvement in terms of upkeep as some areas in the hotel looked neglected. The location and views it provided however were superb and we did have a good rest!

Our first time in Annency area...we found it by chance as the International Car Show in Geneva had filled all rooms in Geneva. What an outstanding area of the world. This is a fantastic old building, full of character and beautiful pieces of furniture, paintings, etc. The position is wonderful right on the edge of the lake.
The only complaint with the room was that the toilet was completely separate from the bathroom and had no handbasin. We enjoyed our stay.

Abbaye at Talloires

Talloires is a beautiful and romantic location, and the Abbaye just adds to the atmosphere. The check-in and service was efficient and friendly, the bed was large and comfortable (we had a garden facing room looking upto the mountains behind Talloires, but from the balcony you had a view of the lake). Would recommend this hotel as it is such a special location.

This is the sixth time that we've stayed at the Abbaye when in the Haute Savoie region. What a wonderful hotel and location. The Abbaye has everything you need to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable. Good resturant and the staff is wonderful and very helpful. Set on the banks of Lake Annecy, it's just a beautiful location. Court yard is very relaxing. You'll enjoy an evening walk around the small village of Talloires. Nearby Annecy is one of our favorite spots in France just 20 minutes away.

L'Abbeye had charm, history, uniqueness, quality, peace and quiet, a beautiful garden located at the water's edge (Lake D'Annecy), in a quaint, friendly, flower-filled village of Talloires,, with hikes to a waterfall, drive up to a panoramic view of the lake and the snow-covered French Alps, and is just down the block from the world-renowned cuisine of Auberge du Pere-Bise. When can we go back?!

Très agréable séjour dans ce magnifique hôtel chargé d’histoire et situé dans une magnifique région. Personnel très sympathique et bienveillant, fabuleux repas. Tout était parfait, sauf peut-être les oreillers qui pourraient être un peu plus durs à mon goût. Merci
