The neighborhood is extremly convienitent with tourist attractions and major bus lines in easy walking distance. The room was clean and comfortable. I appreaciated having a microwave, plates, bowls and cutlery in the room. I found the breakfast only average. Some days tehere was ham, cheese or eggs on one day there was no protein. Just pastries, bread and cereal. Some days there were apples, oranges and bananas, but not everyday.

Good choice for the price

Excellent location, friendly staff. A tad run down; poor breakfast (at additional free from $15). Plumbing needs a bit of work (toilets keep running--they function fine, but that running water sound was impossible to stop in our room and the room next door). Suite comes with small stove, microwave, fridge, and few plates etc. Friendliness and proximity to Recoleta cemetery and other sites made it a good choice, particularly given low price (at least by US standards).

A bit dated but our executive suite was roomy and comfortable, with a fridge and microwave, dishes, cutlery etc at a very reasonable cost. Staff were all great and friendly - front desk, breakfast room, cleaners all!
Breakfast can be included but is the same everyday with small variations, and a bit boring after a few days.

I picked this hotel for a short stay because of its web site and location. The web description and photos do not match the facility. It was the third and last hotel in our trip to Argentina. The room and its furnishings need to be updated. The room had a musty smell and water stains. The lighting was dim. The toilet flapper valve needed to be replaced, because water ran slowly after the tank was full. The hair dryer ran for 9 seconds and shut off. We had to get another one from the front desk,
I asked for a US adapter plug, and they told me I could buy one in the morning.
We had a substandard breakfast the next morning. The food did look anything like the web. We discovered that the front desk people did not understand English. On the second day of our stay, I tried to open the room safe. It did not open. The owner changed the batteries. I am not sure what would have happened if he was not there.
I had to get a replacement for the air conditioning remote because the one in the room did not work.
When I asked about printing my boarding passes I Was told the printer was broken. When I asked when it would be fixed the answer was “I do not know, I am only an employee.”

The building is dated so it’s not in good condition and not very clean. Couple bugs in the room and a dirty shower. Front desk staff were very helpful and spoke English though. The room was large and had a fridge and kitchen. Great location!

Excellent location Close to everything. The building however needs some love. Our toilet kept not working. Kept having to tell them to fix it. It was endlessly running water. The room was supposed to be a “suite” for 3 but it was a typical room with some bedding on a sofa they were calling a twin bed. Definitely priced higher than comparable properties that are in better condition

Great location and a very comfortable bed. The staff was very friendly and I felt welcomed. However, I stayed at this hotel before but this time it was disappointing.
The hotel is being refurbished and it certainly needs it. I would recommend to stay after renovation.
Key issues:
1. wifi was intermittent which meant I couldn’t work properly as I was planning.
2. Air condition unit was old and very noisy. It’s on its last legs and it doesn’t cool the room very fast.
3. The socket next to the mirror in the bathroom was missing part of its cover which could be dangerous for kids. This can be fixed easily.
4. The shower head has seen better days and it’s easy to replace.
I appreciate they are renovating the hotel and the price reflected the condition but I would expect issues with basic things like sockets, air con and wifi should be sorted.
I would go back after renovation because the area is excellent.

Hotel small, elevator for 3 people max to start. 1 towel for 2 people. Very few electric outlets. Carpet stained. Spa tub didnt work. Breakfast toast and instant cofee.hotel door locked and sometimes had to wait for the lady to open it .

Great Value in a great location in Buenos Aires. This is a small hotel without any bells and whistles. The room was clean, the bed very comfortable, a little balcony with view of Alvear palace, close to everything in the heart of the upscale Recoleta area, a working desk in the room with a transformer for American electronic, and ask I needed for a comfortable stay at an unbelievable price. The staff was well informed and very helpful. They arranged for my can to the airport and made great suggestions on where to shop and where to dine, etc.

What a surprise!

This place has a fantastic locatio, walking distance from lots of places and convinces. Just next door to The famous Alvear Hotel. The staff was really nice and helpful. The room was spacious, the only issue is the condition the hotel is, needs maintenance. So, if you don’t care for some water damage in the walls, stained carpet, and pealing wallpaper.......you will love this place. Breakfast was included for my surprise. Oh....WiFi was slow.

The front desk staff were fantastic. They were friendly, gave great recommendations, and were very accommodating. The location was also great, and walking distance to the Recoleta Cemetery (where Evita Peron is buried) and outdoor markets. The only problem we had was that the a/c wasn't working our first night and there was a super annoying water drip that kept some of us up all night. However, the following date the hotel staff moved us to a bigger room. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Front desk staff was helpful and remembered me when I came back to get my luggage. Room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Only downside was where the toilet was located -- directly under the sink so not so convenient. Luckily, I could fit in the limited space but if I were a larger client, it would not work.

cute boutique hotel in a nice area of Recoleta. Close to restaurants, the famous cemetery where Eva Peron is buried. The rooms were a little smaller than it looked on the photos, but comfortable enough. The staff was very nice and helpful but lucky for us one person in our party spoke fluent Spanish because most of the staff did not speak English. Overall, a nice experience.

Where to start,,,repeated failures to get electronic door locks to function, even after many re-keying attempts. A/C not up to par (BA can be hot and humid!).
Loose electrical outlets, some apparently did not have power as our devices(using both the adapters and not)many times failed to received power to recharge. Two elevators, one barely big enough for two people.
Dated, tired, apparently lacking in basic maintenance.
Plus side: Jorge at the desk was exceptionally helpful. Location can not be beat.

A Recolela gem...

I was visiting our son who is at university in Buenos Aires and home-staying nearby the hotel in Recoleta. We have stayed at the Ulises in the past and it's both the ideal barrio location while being comfortable, clean, hospitable, and courteous. Room was good size and wifi was good- not obvious in BA! Would happily recommend and be more than content to return again...and again!

Location, location, location

We are repeat customers. Across the street is hotel Alvear, Buenos Aires best hotel, with all nearby amenities that mean: good restaurants, safe place to change currency, taxis galore. Very safe neighborhood: purse snatchers are common elsewhere in the city. Breakfast included in the fare was fine, although leaning excessively towards bread and pastries, a problem for those in a gluten-free diet. If you do not breakfast early, you may have to look for plates in cupboards, as tables are not reset promptly. Breakfast service ended at 10:30, which seems reasonable, but since we travel to Buenos Aires mostly for its excellent theatre and opera (I am more a visitor than a tourist), we barely made it.

The first room I had for the firs night smelled really bad, the carpet was very dirty and humid......I asked them to change my room, all they had was a bigger room, instead of give me the room for the same $$ they charge me an extra, not a good customer service in my opinion.
The hotel is in the best area in Buenos Aires. The room are relative comfortable, If they can only change the old stained smelly carpets it will be so much better...

Decent hotel in an excellent location; no better location in Buenos Aires. Hotel could use a minor refurbishment, but beds were comfortable, a/c worked well, bathroom was decent (shower head/pressure was only marginal). Included a kitchenette with two-burner stove (but no cooking implements, although they might have been available on request), refrigerator, sink, and toaster oven (no microwave). Breakfast was mostly continental, but with nice pastries, ham/cheese, fruit salad, etc. Best thing about breakfast was it continued until 11 AM. Last two days the WiFi was partially out of order, a minor nuisance (had to use lobby connection). Service was decent in breakfast room, limited otherwise. One day I asked for clean glassware in the room and was told I had to clean the glasses myself, not part of hotel service, although they were replaced the next day. Light next to my bed didn't work; I requested it be fixed but they were unable to repair it. Instead they provided a floor lamp, which was an excellent substitute.

Perfect location, very friendly staff

The location of the hotel is perfect - on a quiet street, right across the Alvear Palace Hotel, one of the most expensive in Buenos Aires. Close by taxi or even by foot to the center of the city, and very close for daily walks on the Avenida Libertador.
The hotel is small - about 25 rooms. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room furniture is rather old, but it didn't bother me. Breakfast was abundant, although I would like to avoid some of the tempting pieces of cake. In general, a perfect choice if you're looking for an economy hotel, and location is for you more important than some details regarding the physical maintenance.

Unbeatable location, very friendly staff

An unbeatable location just across from the Alvear Palace Hotel. The staff is most friendly and several of them also worked there when I first stayed there in the late 1990's. The Ulises has been owned by the same family for several decades and a family member is there almost every day to oversee service delivery. The decor in some of the rooms can be a bit tired and not all of the room safes work properly. However, I find those small distractions to pale in comparison to the location, value, staff and cleanliness. I will stay there again.

Simply Wonderful!

This little hotel has an outstanding location. It also has a very helpful, well trained staff who really make it a point of making you feel at home.
It is clean and has all the amenities needed as WiFi, safety boxes, kitchenette and many others.

I stayed in Ulises for a few days. And I love this hotel.
First, the staff is very helpful and fantastic.
--- I want to send my special thanks to the front desk staff-Orlando and Marina.
---When I talked with Orlando that I wanted to watch a soccer game if he could help me on that. It was 3pm on Sunday. And Orlando made a lot of phone call to contact agencies and friends to get me a ticket to the Sunday match. Finally I got one. Then he helped me order a Pizza. Very considerate. Though the Sunday match was cancelled because of the heavy rain, I had a good experience. Then he also helped to get my refund for the match ticket.Then I kept asking Orlando a lot of questions on Buenos Aires, He was always very patient and helped me a lot. Thank you. Orlando.
----When I first arrived Ulises, it was Marina to help me register, keep my luggage and guided me to the nearby bus stop and recommended several locations to visit. It was also Marina to recommend a good Tango show. I enjoyed the Tango show very much.
---The other staff were also very friendly.

Second, the service is excellent.
The room is very clean.The whole set-up is also very convenient. The room even has a small kitchen. It is also very quiet. The wi-fi is good and have a good speed.

Third, the location is great.
The neighborhood is safe and clean. It is near the cemetery, the museum, the bus stop and a lot of beautiful stores.

I am sure I will stay in Ulises again when I visit Buenos Aires again. And I know I will have a good time and enjoy my stay.

The hotel is sub-par, but the staff is super friendly. Many things in the room were broken, or did not work. However, it is cheap and the location is unbeatable. All in all, it is OK if you only need to sleep in a prime location and your budget is limited

Extremely helpful staff. Location was ideal. Wonderful quaint eateries, wine and cheese shops, flower spots, and parks nearby. Exclusive high end shops and hotels in this area. I would recommend this quiet, small hotel to friends and family.

Excellent convenient safe location

This hotel is situated directly across the street from one of the top 5 star hotels in Buenos Aires and where you can enjoy the same location for a fraction of the price! It is very secure with the reception \"manned\" 24/7. It is located very close to the famous La Recoleta Cemetery and is the right side of town for the domestic airport (Jorge Newbery) which is a big advantage if one is visiting other locations in this vast country such as the Iguazu Falls etc. The only negatives for us was the very small lift (when you have all your luggage with you!) and the small sized breakfast room which serves a limited but adequate buffet style breakfast. The staff are very helpful and friendly and we have no hesitation in recommending it.

Great location! In Recoleta, a Street away from Alvear Palace a luxury hotel in Buenos Aires. The neighorhood is Excelent, you can walk around and find good restaurants and Cafés. Also a Supermarket and Shopping Centers and stores. A good hotel for its Price. But... The hotel doesn´t look like the photos showed in Hotel.com web page. It looked great in the pictures, and personally is not that great. I also didnt like that the same day I arrived I reported the wáter mixer in the tub was not working. I left after 4 nights in the hotel and it was not fixed Almost burned trying to get the right wáter temperature when taking a shower. I reported it EVERY DAY, and never fixed! The Brown shoulder lenght hair lady of the Breafast room very rough; the short black hair a sweet! the breakfast ok... Will conclude that is a good hotel for the Price you pay.

Simply brilliant!

This boutique hotel was a pleasant surprise. Fantastic location just around the corner from La Recoleta cemetery and in the vicinity of many restaurants and a great flea market. Helpful and courteous English-speaking staff. Great breakfast that runs until 11am....ideal if you've had a late night out on the town. Free wifi throughout the hotel.

Fantastic location, helpful staff.

Location of the hotel is excellent. Close to everything and easy to get to other areas of Buenos Aires. The staff was friendly and multilingual. The beds are incredibly comfortable and the rooms are quiet with a minimal of street and outside noise. I arrived very early in the day and the hotel was able to accommodate an early check-in (9:00 am) and also helped with a later check out. I would definitely recommend the hotel to others as a great value.

Great location - this hotel is a gem!

I would recommend staying at this hotel for a visit to Buenos Aires. The location is great - we could walk to many tourist places from here. It is worthwhile knowing that the Subte doesn't reach the area but it is possible to walk from the closest station. The are was beatiful, service superb, small hotel with people who went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. I would stay here again!

Great hotel for singles and Recoleta fans

Very nice personnel, very helpful, some English spoken. Location is great - close to Recoleta best places. Hotel rooms would need some maintenance on cable lines. Less power outlets. Small breakfast room, nice continental breakfast bar. Great hotel for singles and couples, not for family. 4 rooms per floor.

Small hotel in a posh area

Ulises is a small hotel in a posh part of town. I chose this hotel because I was attending a conference a couple of blocks away, but it's not great for sightseeing. There is no subway nearby and the restaurants across from the cemetery are just tourist traps. Barrio Norte a is a better option for tourists.

Rooms are clean, big, and well-kept. Breakfast is not great, but it's typical of Argentina: lots of sweets and not much fruit. People at the front desk are nice and I didn't have any problems with my Expedia prepaid reservation.

Perfect location, correct hotel

I specially like the location. The hotel is small and new. I have stayed more than once. In the heart of Recoleta, half block from Alverar avenue. I will come back.

Comfortable and convinient

The hotel was great, but the check in process was not so great. First they told me that I didn't have a reservation and that was the end of it. When I told them I reserved through hotels.com they said, \"ohhh that we have in a different place and you need to forward us the email with the reservation, the confirmation number isn't enough\". So I had to get on their computer, and forward them them hotel.com email.

Location could not be better, a few blocks from Recoleta just hasf a blcok from the beatiful Alvear avenue. New, simple and comfortable without luxury. Breakfast was OK for me but the space is very, very small. I would say this was the only minor inconvenience if breakfast is very important to you. I was in a studio and it has a small kitchenette.

boutique hôtel/great location

This hotel was in a fantastic location for walking around the Redoleta district. We could walk to the shopping, points of interest and many great places for dinner.
Across the street is a wonderful bakery. The room was large, clean and neat. The staff was the best part of our stay at the hotel. We spoke very little Spanish. They
had staff who spoke various levels of English from very well to a few words here and there. We all communicated though and had fun doing it! We got very good at
charades and we all learned the others language a little bit better.

Time @ The Ulises Recoleta Hotel

I spent almost two weeks at this hotel and I would say that the overall experience was very positive. Location, staff, condition of the hotel, breakfast, and internet service were all very good. I would definitely go back to this hotel.

Ulises Recoleta Suites ~ Wonderful Safe Location

The hotel was in a very safe neighborhood and the English speaking staff were extremely helpful. Definitely make your reservation at hotels.com as the price was much cheaper than the price we were quoted by the hotel when we decided to extend our stay. Also, there are two restaurants close by Fervor and Sotta Voce that were fabulous.

3 nights at the Ulises Recoleta Hotel

This hotel is conveniently located in a very safe area of Buenos Aires and the English speaking staff were wonderful! To get the best room rate book with hotels.com. Also, two must try restaurants that are only a few blocks away from the hotel are Fervor and Sotto Voce. The meals we had were delicious.

A good and convenient place to stay

This is a very nice, clean and convenient place to stay. The room was very clean and well laid out. The bathroom was nice and roomy and very clean.
This is a place I would not hesitate to stay at again in the future.
