Fully renovated but with the charm and warmth of all Dutch houses, this Hotel is the perfect place to stay in Den Haag. The location is perfect, right at the center of all main tourist spots, on a lively but cozy street. Walking distance from the train station. Good value breakfast. Check in and check out can be done online, or though the AI assistant or with their welcoming staff. Elevator, so you don't have to carry your luggage through Dutch stairs. A real bathroom, not like modern hotels. We stayed for 7 days during our honeymoon, as we chose Den Haag as our base ground while exploring Holland. Every day, after many trains and sightseeing, it was like coming back home.

My stay at the Paleis hotel was nothing short of fantastic. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is very comfortable, quiet, and privacy is respected by all. The situation of the hotel is excellent, as it allows you to explore The Hague's best food offerings, is close to museums and galleries, and public transport such as the tram in case you want to travel to the beach or other areas of the city.

The Paleis Hotel is in a great location for shopping, dining and sightseeing. The bed was very comfortable and the room was generously sized with lots of storage for clothing and suitcases. The only difficulty was with check in. There isn’t a regularly staffed front desk and we did not receive the email with the code to open the door to the hotel before we arrived. It was unclear how to contact hotel staff to be let in.

The bathtub in my room was amazing. Everything was done with care it appeared. So cute and unique. Felt the ambience from my window that overlooked the street below. Staff was all really friendly. I saw a couple of little doggos so that must be an option. Would stay again.

Property condition deserves 3.5 stars, not 3. The deduction of 1.5 stars has to do with some leaking by the windows and a partially torn plastic strip in the shower door. Some minor fixing will make this hotel a great place to stay.

The staffers were FANTASTIC. The front desk crew I met, Miranda and Naomi, were very helpful and friendly, . The housekeeping attendant even picked up and folded clothes I left on the floor.

The location is good. Tramlines, the central rail station (about 20 minutes walking), shops and lots of restaurants are close by. At the same time, the area is still quiet at night for a good sleep.

A beautiful boutique hotel in the centre, ideal for exploring the city. There is no breakfast on site and we didn’t take the arrangement with a couple of nearby restaurants but there are many coffee shops and bakeries around. There is no air conditioning in the property but they provide an efficient fan in each room.

What can I say about this fantastic hotel which was the pinnacle of my stays during my trip to the Netherlands; the staff were nice and friendly; the hotel and room was clean and spotless and the location was perfect for exploring Den Hagg. Clean and newly renovated. Photos on the website are misleading: only the 1st floor has big windows and high ceilings. The hotel has 2 other floors that have only very small windows. I booked a “Superior” room and had only 1 small window, and the room was quite dark. Not the “royal” experience I was expecting.

It’s one of the pleasant stays, 50% of ot thanks to the great service and very much helpful staff. The hotel is located in a city heart with many cafes and small shops around. The great sightseeing spots and department stores are 7-15 minutes walk max. I had to work on the check out day and was enjoying to do it in the beautiful salon.

The location is superb, lots of nice bars and restaurants in a 1-10 minute walking distance.
Check in as well as check out was smooth as silk, we even got our room right away despite being early.
Our room was really nice and tidy, with a roomy ensuite bathroom.
Breakfast was served in picnic baskets every morning, while coffee was self-service pickup from the reception. Highly recommended, will visit again.

Sight-seeing, excellent location, quiet etc. Try breakfast in and out. Plenty to see on foot. But the street is Procrustean. If you are driving, the manager will help you park. Just leave the car and enjoy your stay.

The best assets are the genuinely first class service from the friendly / attentive staff plus the excellent location.

There is nothing one can dislike. However, I would say that the signal for the TV was hit and miss in my room. Bedsheets sorted and bathroom cleaned and supplies replenished daily. However, I would have liked for the carpet to have been vacuumed cleaned in greater frequency.

Overall, a truly excellent hotel that is highly recommended!

Wonderful location near Central Hague. Excellent rooms, beautifully decorated. Of course up up grade always helps so the room was larger than we would expect for the price. The staff were really friendly and helpful. This is a simple small hotel without lots if facilities but beautifully presented and every aspect of gje staying experience seemed carefully thought about. I'm sure some people would finf something to gripe about but I thought it was one of the nicest hotels I've stayed in.

Lovely hotel in the centre

Nicely decorated hotel. Our room was lovely - we were up in the attic and had two big windows. The hotel is located not far from the centre on the corner of two side streets and ideal for shops and restuarants. Our room overlooked a small street with lots of small bars, although not noisy with the windows shut. We were on the third floor, and the stairs are quite steep - there is a lift (although it wasn't working when we arrived, which was a bit unfortunate with suitcases to carry up). Also the air conditioning had stopped working and the room was quite warm, however the staff provided a very effective fan. One slight improvement - some more lights in the room would be good: there were a couple of lamps which look nice, but not so useful when you're looking for something in your suitcase at night.

I stayed here for 3 nights. Although the room upon check-in was not entirely clean, I was upgraded to a bigger (and very red) room and very much appreciated the management and cleaning staff's efforts at making sure my room was clean. The bed was extremely comfortable and the air-conditioning very good (although it did take me a while to figure it out). The location was superb and the person checking me in (Cheryl I believe) and the night manager were very nice.

Cool hotel with adaptable staff

Really comfortable stay- wish I’d stayed for another night, will be back. The lounge has a nice laid back and stylish atmosphere with a great range of teas to drink and a chessboard to spend some quiet moments, the room was a good size with 2 cool Juliet balconies and a roof view of the Palace. Bed was firm but not hard - slept like a baby. Lovely staff. Also like the paperless check in.

This is a real boutique hotel, small and personal, with very helpful staff who speak several languages.
It is situated in a really good location, within walking distance of the Mauritshuis, round the corner from the royal palace and right next to the oldest street in the Hague, full of restaurants and bars, but my room was very quiet. The bed was really comfortable. All in all a great base for a fantastic new year cultural break.

Charming hotel in the Centre of The Hague.

We have stayed at this hotel twice before, so knew what to expect. it is right in the centre of town, (not easy if you are trying to get there in your own car, but OK by taxi}.

We felt our room could have had more in the way of lights, though there were two windows, being November, in the evening we needed more electric light than there was.

Breakfast was good, but on the Sunday, when the hotel was quite full, the sole person there was not able to cope, so our coffee took a long time to come and was luke-warm when it did. The next day there were two people and the service was considerably better.

Unique boutique hotel downtown The Hague..

My husband and I stayed at the Paleis hotel for 7 nights. Having lived in the Hague I knew the area quite well. Our room was (209) was spacious and beautifully decorated. Numerous restaurants, coffee shops, pubs close by as is public transportation. The staff was very courteous and helpful.
I definitely will stay at the hotel again.
Our only disappointment was the breakfast (ca. Euros 20 pp). Very expensive for what they offer: eggs, croissants, yogurt, fruit, cold cuts, cereal etc.
Around the corner from the hotel is a wonderful bakery: highly recommended for a take out breakfast (less than Euros 10 for 2)

Beautiful and chic.

We arrived early in the morning to find the well presented lady having to calmly deal with a difficult guest, I wouldn't have been so calm. We asked if we could leave our cases as we would not be returning until late that night, no problem. We returned to find our cases were in an upgraded room, wow, stunning, beautiful and chic with a massive bed, thank goodness we hadn't paid for breakfast as the bed was so comfortable we slept so long we would have missed it. The dining room just like the rest of the hotel was lovelly. The hotel is in the centre of the premium shopping area with nice cosy cafes and bars. Every one of the staff we met could not do enough for us. On the day we were leaving again they kept our cases until we required them. We have stayed elsewhere in The Hague before, never again, the character of the hotel won us over.

Cute Boutique Hotel in a Great Area

I was mostly pleased with this hotel. The staff are really wonderful and want to be helpful in whatever ways they can. The hotel is small, nicely renovated. It's located in a very pleasant pedestrian area in the heart of Den Haag -- lots of restaurants and shopping all around it, without it being too crowded or busy (as up the road on the Grote Markt). Two things a guest should know in advance: not all rooms are air-conditioned (if air conditioning is important, be sure to let the staff know in advance; the manager was happy to put us in an air-conditioned room after we realized that some were available); and second, do not get into a taxi that will not drop you off at the door (I made this mistake and had to walk several blocks because I got such a terrible cab driver who said he wasn't allowed to drive on their street; later, when I needed a cab to the train station, a different cab driver parked right in front of the hotel and waited for me in the lobby, so it's possible -- don't let the cab driver get off easy). The king sized bed was really two smaller beds pushed together, so that was a little less comfortable than I would have expected, but it didn't really make much difference -- I slept quite soundly in this very nice hotel.

We enjoyed this hotel very much for its comfort and appointments tho it would have been even better if there was a small frig. Staff was helpful and friendly. Location is great in old part of town, very central and convenientvto sights. Lots of good dining by it too. We were able to get a pretty reasonable room rate without breakfasts which were very pricey.

This clean hotel is in a great location. It's excellently located for touring The Hague on foot.
The only negative draw back with this hotel if you want any early night is the noise level. Our room was directly across the lane from a bar and restaurant. As a result groups of patrons would exit the bar and smoke and continue on with their conversation. The patrons were not rowdy they were just loud. This continued well after 11:00 PM. In the early morning street cleaning and deliveries wake you up. I would recommend this hotel as long as you you can get by on 7 hours sleep or can sleep with complimentary ear plugs.

too 'vintage' and greedy

an advantageously located, small vintage hotel with spacious rooms and comfy beds.... however , some things about it are too vintage to my taste - like worn off or fallen out water tap caps, a water stopper in the basin that wouldn't completely open, nicely painted but old stile window frames that can't hold the morning noise away. No minibar, but an old tiny (unconnected) fridge inside the wardrobe (isn't that a strange place to put the fridge in) that I mistook for a vintage safe box. While most of the 4-star hotels these days proudly avail Nespresso machinettes in the guest rooms, this hotel offers you cheap Twinings tea bags and Nesscafe instant packets - all complimented by an old stile water boiler. Furthermore, unlike other, even lower rated hotels, at Paleis they don't offer you even a single bottle of free water . But if you agree to pay EUR9,95 you can have a mini-bottle of white wine - at room temperature, as the hotel didn't care to cool it in the fridge . Not too smart ...
And finally, a long female hair found in the bath tub didn't add positively to the hotel entourage either....

Room for improvement and better/smarter service!

I was extremely disappointed in this hotel. The main reason I booked this hotel was due to the fact that the other room I wanted to book in Den Haag, at another hotel, only had twin beds. As a solo adult traveller I dislike single beds. And I dislike that assumption that we will just settle for one if all else fails. Let´s face it, I´m not a kid anymore. When a double room at the Palais Hotel was advertised as available with a `double bed´, I booked it. But upon arrival at the hotel I was informed that only a twin room was available (which did not feature air conditioning that my original room would have had). I was then told another room was available. But that it was more expensive and that I would have to pay the difference. And there lays the problem. It was clear that they DID have a room that had a large bed. And the hotel should have offered it to me (due to their own mistake) at no extra cost. I use to work at a travel agency. We fixed mistakes like that for clients and wore the cost.

I accepted the room as it was getting on in the day and I had paid already. The hotel staff need to learn the proper art of turning a negative into a positive. Save face! Not even a free breakfast was offered. Just a lousy postcard saying thank you for your stay. Very disappointed.

The room itself needed some love and attention. Lots of scuffed walls. And very dated décor. And way too much clutter on the main desk. I should have taken the other hotel.

Issue dealt with swiftly did not ruin my stay

Overall stay was very good. Comfortable, friendly and cosy. Although an incident this did not overshadow my stay and will come back. In short the housemaid stole 15 Euros from my room; the Manager returned the money immediately and dealt with the employee who is now no longer at the establishment.

A gem of a hotel with character.

We spent 3 nights at the Paleis. It is a fabulous hotel with fantastic staff. The location is magic very central to everything. It has many wonderful restaurants around it just a few minutes walk all reasonably priced. It oozes charm and being small is very quiet. I give it 10/10 and hope to have the pleasure of staying there again. Loved it

Great little hotel in the heart of The Hague. Didn't matter which angle we took when we left, we found something interesting, good food, beautiful buildings. The staff was very helpful and attentive. Would love to find ourselves staying here and wandering around again one day soon. Watch out for the bicycles!

The best hotel in Den Haag.

Beautiful hotel right in the middle of the old Den Haag centrum. Super clean and restored to mint condition. Very classy and elegant finishout. Walking distance to all points of interest. Lastly, the staff was super friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this hotel over any hotel in Den Haag.

Beautiful hotel in an ideal location

There's always some trepidation when your taxi is bringing you into the city to your hotel. When our cab pulled up in front of the door of the Paleis, my wife and I were thrilled by the location. Lots of smart shops and intriguing restaurants. We were even more thrilled when we went inside. A very lovely boutique hotel. Friendly staff. Lovely clean and spacious room. Nice bathroom ! As we started plotting our first days excursion we began to realize what a perfect location the hotel was in. My wife was full of compliments at my booking choice. I gave Expedia full credit !

A true gem.

Cosy and central. Highly recommended hotel.

Strikingly excellent service from everyone I encountered during my stay. I was given a choice of rooms on arrival and accepted the recommendation I was given. The room was very comfortable and cosy, with high-quality honey-scented products in the bathroom. Great desk, and easy to connect to the free wifi, so very suitable for someone travelling on business. It had character and was a really nice alternative to staying in the usual business hotels. I would definitely stay there again.
