It was overall good experience to stay, the location is spurb, just less than a minute to Tram station, tourist vibe, Grand bazar, restaurant are nearby, once you're on the road by the tram line you reach Macdonald, or burger king in 5 minutes, Breakfast was included in our package but couldn't try it because stayed with kids and was lazy to wake up early - Room was clean and cosy , with facilities, you can make coffee tea or can grab drink from the small fridge with full stake of - free chocolate, drink etc , even they put new water bottles with after every cleaning service, I've very less interaction with the reception staff but i feel them polite and good -

However, do not trust them with tours, etc from the staff of this hotel. Also first and fourth floors were renovated. Second floor and third floors were in poor condition.

Our stay wasnt that good as our room had no lights. We had to use the bathroom lights. Informed reception and nothing was done. On the description it says there will be bottles of cold water and an electric kettle in the room for teas and coffee but nothing was there. Dissapointed

Impressive service

Probably the most attentive, friendly, helpful staff I have ever seen in a hotel. The staff is extremely helpful and attentive to the guests needs. I love how charming the hotel is, but the best part was for sure the staff! The hotel is also located in a great area so people can explore the city walking or via the city trolley. I absolutely loved Istambul and I believe my experience was great and I know that had a lot to do with the wonderful hotel staff. They gave me ideas many times and told me what was the fastest, cheapest way to get around the city. My room was cleaned daily, and I appreciated my free water, with ice too! I was very impressed with my whole experience! Thank you Balin Hotel crew 😄👏

Excellent location, but it needs more cleaning.

We stayed for 3 nights. The location of the hotel is excelent, less than 2 minutes from Beyazit metro station. There is a mosque in front of the hotel, so if you need more silence, you can ask for a room in the back(no view). Beakfast was good, but you need to wake up early, 8AM is okay, 9 is too late. The hotel in general is in good condition, but it requires more cleaning and some small fixes . In the bathroom floor of the room that we stayed were small pieces of broken glass. The reception arranged to be cleaned on the following day, but it was dangerous as somebody could get a bad cut or worse. Overall we had good stay. 3.5/5

Hotel was fine but rooms were not properly clean.the first day was ok but other days you would see staff on the floor for previous days.i even wrote that they must clean the floor.

They will enjoy the bin and wipe the floor if there's empties of shampoo or what so ever they will leave it there.if you left a cupboard open in the morning you will find it in the evening opened till you come back.

They will give a plate with cold breakfast that you can see it's yesterday's but it was on the fridge.they choose on what you eat sometimes

Don't waste your time.

Honestly there are so many places to stay in Istanbul, please don't feel like you need to pick this one. When we arrived, they couldn't find our reservation. They said they would have to see if there was a room available. We ended up waiting for 2 hours until someone checked out and they were able to get the room ready. I would have left except that the reservation was non-refundable and they has my credit card info. When we FINALLY got a room, it stunk of smoke. I tried to open the window and it fell on me. Other than that, everything was fine, but the above mentioned is enough for me not to recommend this dump. Beautiful city, stay somewhere else!

The hotel was decent, had a perfect location very close to the shops and as well as to the train and bus station.
Wasn't very satisfied with the hotel cleanliness. Needs a renovation perhaps as well

A quaint hotel

This hotel was very nice and had a very helpful staff. It is also right across from the bazaar, which is always a good thing. The ONLY complaint, the beds are small and hard...and for two full grown men (father and son) it was a bit uncomfortable.

A VERY nice hotel. Rooms a bit small but everything else 100%. Great variety at breakfast (English & Turkish) and very filling - a good start to the day. Hotel 2mins walk from Grand Bazaar & very convenient to tram (called a funicular there.) Check-out 12pm. Luggage room to store bags if you're not going straight to airport. Smoking lounge looking on to road for smokers.

1/2 block from the tram, great service, good plumbing, reasonable\y quiet for this location. The breakfast was good. It's nice that they have a full service restaurant right in the hotel. Breakfast starts at 8. Roons a little small but the hotel is a beautiful old building.

Nice hotel in a good location

On the first night we had a problem where the hotel didn't have two twin rooms as we had requested so we had to settle for a double. We were moved to a twin the next morning and given a complementary free breakfast as an apology. For the rest of the stay, there were no problems and the staff were fantastic and extremely friendly. The hotel itself was located a short walk from the blue mosque and a tram station and staff were very forthcoming with advice on what to do and how to get there. Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay at the Balin and apart from the first night there were no problems.

Elegant, small hotel near Grand Bazaar

The hotel is close to the tram stop and large bus turnaround station at the Grand Bazaar. The hotel is about half a block from the main street and a downhill walk to the main mosques and museums (take the tram back up from the Spice Market!). I could have used a better map to find it. The hotel is elegantly appointed and the rooms have all the modern amenities including AC. Very friendly English-speaking staff. Nice breakfast buffet served in the lobby which makes the seating tight.

Staff polite and responsive. Place is new and clean. Great shower. Air conditioning was needed and worked. The window opened to another building 1 foot away (no view whatsoever--couldn't even see the sky). Breakfast was tasty. Great location--5 minute walk to Grand Bazaar and many restaurants. Maybe a 10 minute walk to the Blue Mosque, etc.

Location, location, location

We had a 2 night stay following a tour of Turkey. The Balin Hotel is well placed about 50 metres down a side street off the main street where the tram runs and about 300 metres to the Grand Bazaar,.Plenty of other shopping, including street traders, and eating places close by. Formalities on arrival handled most efficiently by Davut and bags whisked to our room by the obliging porter. Room was smallish but sumptuously furnished with cream and gold wallpaper and matching brocade curtains. Bathroom was clean with shower only (which suited us). Air conditioning was very effective and fast. We were told that the restaurant was due to reopen in a week so only breakfast (ample without being lavish) and the bar were operating. The hotel is directly opposite a mosque and while we loved the 5 times a da/night calls to prayer, light sleepers might not.

A Bad Experience!

I normally do not write up hotel experiences, but have decided to do so as this is a hotel I will not use again.
I spent 15 minutes waiting in line to check in as there only one staff member behind the desk. Could never have breakfast as it was served from 8am. Being on business, I was leaving the hotel at 8am!.
My room was on the 4th floor in the attic area and requiried stooping at the window end of the room as to edge around the bed . The window in itself was very small and opened on to the roof ledge which meant that it could not be left open at night for security reasons. There was no safe available in the room, but the most insulting experience of all was on checkout. I was made wait until a staff member went to my room to check the mini bar and validate my prior statement which was that I had not used the mini bar. I felt embarrassed, insulted and my integrity brought in to question. I stay in Istanbul hotels every month in the Beyazit area and have never been subjected to this type of experience.
Sad, as the hotel looks nice from the outside!

I booked one week double room in this hotel, when we arrived at about 11:30 am at the hotel, it was completely full and we had to wait till 2 pm Then we were offered a very small room, it was small even for a single room. Then after long wait and complain we were offered a
second room and again terribly small. The third room was good but
two single beds joined together.
Later on everything seemed much
better and the staff were very helpful and we had great time. The room even had a small balcony and only couple mins walk from the tram.

Alla fine ho chiesto un late checkout (3 ore in più) e chiesto quanto sarebbe costato. Non mi hanno voluto informare dicendo che avrebbero chiesto che fosse gratuito alla direzione. Tuttavia, all’uscita hanno fatto pagare l’80% di un giorno pieno. Non mi è sembrato serio questo atteggiamento.

Aucune compréhension en cas de force majeure

Mon avion a été annulé, certes je n’ai pas pris d’assurance vu que j’ai pris la chambre la veille et que j’étais sur d’y aller, je n’ai pas demandé un remboursement mais un report à ma nouvelle date d’arrivee Qu’on m’a refusé, une fois j’ai eu un cas similaire l’hotel Avait accepté de me laisser un solde créditeur chez eux. Je suis donc insatisfait de leur sens du commerce et de la satisfaction client surtout que je ne veux pas de remboursement . Merci à l’equipe Hôtels.com qui ont tenté d’arranger également le problème
