We borrowed their bikes and had a fun time riding around.
Good room size, Room has no carpet which was a plus!
If you like to to early check in there is a fee but it is possible as well as late check out
Elevator needs maintenance
They gave us great restaurants recommendations around the area

It took 2 hours to check in. The hotel and room is dirty and an a bit run down. The elevators kept getting stuck and we had to climb 8 flights of stairs to get to the 4th floor. The ceiling has mold and mildew stains. The hotel smells of dirty water and pets and it just has an \"ick\" to it. The staff was all of the place and not in a good way...the bar was always closed or took 20 minutes to get a drink. Couldn't order breakfast becuase nobody was to be found to take an order. Guest services was not very helpful. The pool was gross and no clean towels. They would come take our trash our the room so it over flowed. Beds was small and hard to sleep on and hardly any water pressure in the showers. They didnt even offer to refund any money or try to me make it right. Would not stay here again and do not recommend this hotel.

Our room had black mold all over the ceiling and went and told the front desk and said they would let the manager know immediately and heard nothing so 2 days later told another person there that works at the country club and they said they would do the same and still heard nothing. There was left over clothes in the drawers from someone that had stayed there previously and was hair all over the floor of the kitchen and bathroom. It literally took 2hrs for them to check us and family in because they had the booking messed up. We were never offered another room or a refund or anything I was very disappointed in this place and will never go back again. And the elevator kept breaking down and we were on the 4th floor so had to climb the stairs several times it was just very disappointing after looking at everything online before we booked it. Manager never contacted us at all and blatantly ignored us our whole stay!! We want be back and I have pictures to prove the black mold in rooms 407,406.

We had a great stay at Hotel Alice. The room was spacious and clean. It even had a clothes hanger in the bathroom for wet bathing suits. The beach access was very convenient and I loved being able to use their complimentary wagons to bring our things to and from the beach. Upon check in we got a drink ticket for my husband and myself which was a happy surprise, to be used for a free glass of wine or draft beer. Overall great experience for the price and would definitely stay again.

If you are looking for place in proximity to the beach, the location is great. If you are looking for proximity to the beach AND a well-maintained hotel, you may wish to look elsewhere.

The rooms appear shabbier than the pictures (as is typically the case) but the signs of neglect are obvious.

The room we received had a slow draining tub and sink. We were there for 4 nights and asked several times for maintenance to remedy the issue. I finally asked for a plunger and my husband ended up pulling a wad of hair out of the drain…ewww!

I figured he’d had done enough of the hotel’s job and would not let him try to remedy the sink!

If things how you wish to spend your holiday weekend, go for it. Otherwise, look elsewhere.

I enjoyed my stay with my son. The rooms were clean and spacious. I only wish there was a continental breakfast, but it would not stop me from staying again. It would be nice to have brooms to access to use in the rooms to sweep up sand. I will consider staying again if I return to the beach.

I did not realize this was a pet friendly hotel. There was alot of barking going on in the room beside us. I also noticed that people were not picking up poop when their dogs we using the bathroom outside. I would not stay there again because I am allergic to cats.

Pulling into the hotel there was active construction, otherwise looked nice. When we checked into the room we opened the door and ( just to be clear, we are dog/pet lovers) the room smelled of dog. It was so strong and uncomfortable. Under our feet we felt dirt. We left our bags and went to the Dollar General bought cleaning supplies including a mop, went back and spent one hour cleaning the room. Four times had to dry swift then mop and it was filthy!! What we picked up was disgusting. We wiped every surface down. Then the room smelled and looked clean. The dresser drawers would not stay closed my husband had to put splints under it in order to keep drawers closed. There was no breakfast as described, we were told they didn’t get their license back yet??? Overall not great experience and probably wouldn’t return.

There was no breakfast despite the website advertising that they serve breakfast. The employees at the front desk said they couldn't serve breakfast because they didn't have a valid health inspection. The elevators smelled like smoke, and sometimes wouldn't respond to the buttons. The couch in our room was dirty and had stains. Overall, for the price, I wouldn't recommend this place for the price.

The overall appearance of the hotel is beautiful and a great location. They offered a wagon to carry your things to beach, bicycles were also available and the pool was refreshing. We did hear live music in the lounge area and thought that was a great touch. I did however find the staff very young and not overly friendly.

Im not sure if we would stay here again. The location is nice in regards to the beach and overall centrally located, however, we had to drive for everything we wanted to do which we expected.

My kids enjoyed the pool. The room was spacious. There were cleaning staff constantly present.

They definitely need to update some areas as one of the two elevators were down every day. In addition, the cleaning staff use the elevators so it makes for a lot of waiting.

The worst part was probably the beds. The beds need updated. We had two doubles and a pull out. Queens weren’t an option so that makes it a little tighter of a sleeping arrangement. They weren’t comfortable for any of my family which is the first time we have experienced this at a hotel.

We didn’t eat breakfast there as it was an additional cost. Parking was free. There was live music on Friday evening so that was nice. They have bicycles and beach wagons you can utilize. The additional outdoor seating area was nice.

We rolled with it for the most part.

For starters their are no available carts to help unload your luggage. There isn’t any bistro (no breakfast) as advertised. You pay $15 a day resort fee but it isn’t a resort, it’s a hotel. The staff is friendly, however, very young and do the best they can. There was a language barrier a lot of the time. Your room is cleaned only upon request (not automatically if you remove the do not disturb sign). It was weird bc though the temp in the room was comfy nothing seemed to dry, even overnight, like bath towels and swim suits. Humidity issue? The beach across the street was beautiful! Bartender at bar very friendly.

For the price point and location - this hotel was great. Super easy access cross the street to the beach with a crosswalk and signal. The rooms were clean and the showers were warm. Super nice lounge area downstairs. We did not use the pool but it looked good. They were installing some water purifiers so food was not available on site but they did serve coffee and water.

The pictures they use to describe the outside property are very different from what it actually looks like. They included the golf courses that belong to the property in the rear. They also stood on the beach and took pictures of the building in the background.There is no lush landscape at the property just concrete. The woods hides the road but there is no grass area or anything just a cross walk to the beach which is across the road. Elevator was broken so only one working and staff are using it as well rediculous to not have a housekeeping elevator. The breakfast was closed because of construction issues so we were not told that until we got there. It was unbelievable so the only thing I can say is it was clean and the room was good.

Cute place, definitely could use some upgrades! The pool was closed the first two days we were there due to a light being out, the shower curtain was very thin so the whole floor was soaked, the A/C unit leaked ruining my charger and the device it was plugged into (This was discussed with the manager who refunded the room) they made us move rooms which was slightly inconvenient due to the sizing of the room but it was our last night. The water pressure the in shower is awful, house keeping didn't do very good the first time, the floors were covered in sand! The pool wasn't kept up very well, it looked like someone may have thrown up in it, and it's not very safe anyone can get in without a key. The plus side, they give 2 free drinks from the bar at check in, the problems were resolved before we left. Would I come back? Probably not.

This hotel was the perfect location! Close to everything but not right in the middle of it. The beach is literally across the street and there was a sidewalk and crosswalk making it convenient. Our room looked out at the ocean so we also got an oceanfront view without the hefty price! It had bikes, wagons, really anything you need. Restaurants and shopping are also a few minutes away. We would definitely stay here again!

We arrived on a very hot afternoon with our teens, planning our whole day to get there early so they could swim in pool before dinner. And learned the pool was closed; something was broken. I know that can’t be helped, but nothing was really offered in return. For a hotel at a location like this not to recognize this is a major amenity to not offer for guests, it was a bit of a miss. The bar also was closed both at night and in the morning…there was an advertised breakfast bar, and heard from manager that they were delayed in opening due to permits. Also no recognition that this is not what was advertised when we booked. Nevertheless, the location across the street from the beautiful beach on Emerald Isle made up for it; we had a lovely evening on the beach, the room was clean and big, with great views, and we were on our way easily in the morning.

Amazing hotel in rapid decline. The property is beautiful, and has so much potential but it is clearly not managed well and starting to show the consequences of poor management.

The place was understaffed and the little staff they had were not qualified or properly trained in hospitality services. You can tell cleaning was not a priority. Floors, walls, counters, pretty much every surface was dirty, stained, and worn.

The elevators were so so slow, and had a terrible smell of rusty metal - we walked up and down the stairs to the top floor as much as we could to avoid the elevators.

Front desk only had one person working and on many occasions no one was there at all. Forget about buying anything from the little shop. No one there to charge it to your room. The people who did work the front desk clearly were not trained for that role.

We stayed for three nights and housekeeping never made it to our room. On the last day they were “stuck” cleaning just one room next to ours for nearly five hours. Never made it to our room. I let the front desk know we’re completely out of towels and the room hadn’t seen housekeeping the whole time we were there. Someone ended up dropping a stack of hand towels off while we were out. That was it. We didn’t end up taking showers the morning we were checking out cause all we had were hand towels and I didn’t want to deal with front desk anymore.

It was really sad. This hotel looks so cool in the pictures but it isn’t being taken care of.

I want to note a few concerns about my stay. First, I was surprised that there was an additional fee for bringing a dog, which was not clearly expected.
More concerning was the condition of the room: some wires from the air conditioning unit were exposed and lying on the floor, which felt unsafe and poorly maintained.
Overall, I don’t think the property justifies the price. The only positive aspect was that the staff were polite and friendly, and the beach access was convenient.
Because of these issues, I would not recommend this place and I would not stay here again.

There's supposed to be a breakfast you can order but whenever we called for it staff always said it was \"broken\"?? Sucks because that's part of why we chose this one. Additionally, later in my stay I heard several other guests in adjacent rooms talking about cockroaches and staff was very dismissive about it to them. Made me pretty uneasy rest of my stay. My rooms couch was also sopping wet soggy. There's no creamer or anything for your coffee unless you go to the bottom floor, and your room only comes with 2 packs of actually caffinated ones. We asked for more and it took like half an hour and they still brought decaf. Having to pay $15 dollars \"resort fee\" a day is also ridiculous, why am I paying to pay? Greedy.
The Good- It was only about a 5 minute walk to the beach.

When I booked online, I thought I had made a good choice. Alice pretends to be different, but it's just another one of countless beach workhorses — ugly out front and worn down on the inside. The couple of kids working the front desk only confirmed my suspicion that I'd made a bad choice.

I was particularly disappointed by the accommodations. The walls told the whole story: picture hook holes slathered with plaster, exposed screws with no pictures to show for them. Bad vibe — that's really all I can say.

Found black mold in the bathroom all over the ceiling. Which halo had paint falling off. The toilet once flushed ran for two hours. The shower leaked the entire time we were there. The main level and hallways are 100x different than the cheap falling apart outdated rooms. If I knew it would be easy to get a refund I certainly would try. Based off reddit posts. It seems this is very common.
The tv is also 15yrs old and just has cable with a joke of a menu. Keep that in mind. The charges haven’t come out yet, but apparently I should have hidden fees to look forward too as well according to other posts. If I could give this hotel zero stars, I wouldn’t hesitate.

So to start off this is NOT a book now and pay at property hotel as I was lead to believe. Was charged the full amount of almost $800 48 hrs in advance even though the hotel sent a message to me via hotels.com stating that they needed to secure the room by charging the first night's stay 48 hrs in advance. Then upon arrival I was surprised to see that there is also a resort fee of $15 per day that I had no idea about so that along with the dog fee I paid and extra $145 at arrival. Then the maintenance man had to clean the room next to us, and used so much bleach it smelled so strong in our room they had to lock us out of the room and open windows. I got stuck in the elevator for 2 minutes between 1st and 2nd floor and then it jumped finally to the 3rd then the elevator was out of order. Unfortunately the property looks nothing like the secluded pics online. It's not on the beach, it's near the beach, and loads of homes around it. Night staff (an older man) was very rude to me when I asked for help with the intense bleach smell which is harmful for my asthma and dangerous for dogs. My vacation was ruined staying here. Lots of money wasted lesson learned. I'll stick to chain hotels thanks.

Rooms are clean. Staff are young and there for a paycheck. Daily amenities fee is a joke. Price is good for the location. Lots of big dogs which they used to only allow on the first floor. Used to offer two free drinks. Now u can get 1 warm keg beer if the front desk staff wants to pour it. Can tell the hotel is under new ownership. Not as good as before

Our stay at Hotel Alice started on a high note. Check-in was impressive. The staff were friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The location is another big plus; only about 100 yards from the beach. Unfortunately, that’s where our smooth experience ended and our housekeeping saga began. After two days of beach time, some sand naturally built up in our room. Nothing dramatic. I stopped by the front desk and politely asked if housekeeping could do a quick sweep. They asked if we could be out for several hours to fit their schedule. Wanting to help, we adjusted our plans and stayed out all afternoon. Five hours later, we returned. No housekeeping. We saw housekeeping cleaning rooms in the hallway. \"Perfect,\" we thought. We tossed our suits inside and headed back out, certain we were next.
Four hours later. Still no housekeeping.
Now, 48 hours later, I'm writing this while staring at a floor with enough sand to qualify as a beachfront extension. At this point Room 302 is the closest beach access in the hotel. Looking for seashells? Start here before the actual shoreline. We took every precaution. Shoes came off at the door. We tried to contain the invasion. But without housekeeping, sand achieved total dominance. We're one tide cycle away from being added to local beach maps.
That said, staff were wonderful at check-in, the location is fantastic, and we enjoyed our stay.

Hotel was ok and rooms are spacious. Was told about $15 resort fee per night at check in that I was not aware of. No towels available at the pool and was told “laundry was backed up.” If I’m paying a resort fee I expect to at least have pool towels.

Absolutely amazing hotel! We stayed one night for a scuba diving trip, and ended up staying in morehead city another night. Sadly we didn’t stay at hotel Alice for the second night but we will definitely be back and always stay at hotel Alice for any future dive trips! We booked on Expedia and the price was the best around, which is crazy considering this is the nicest hotel around. They also gave us 2 tickets (1 for each person) for a free drink at the bar!

The pool was nice and having a wagon to take things to the beach was helpful. Liked all the lounge areas as we were visiting with friends from another state.

I loved the close proximity to the beach and the pool! Staff including female bartender(forgot her name) were very nice and helpful! The negatives are dogs barking in other rooms at 9 pm, the landline phones in the rooms do not work so I had to call the main number twice before someone picked up and they seem bothered by my request. Also, a lot of the parking areas are very dirty with trash, cigarette butts cups, straws, things like that I feel like the outside areas need a good cleaning. Also the 100& hold on your card is not needed as they are also charging a 60$ “resort”fee which this hotel is not a resort! I think correcting a few of these issues would definitely make this a five star stay thanks again to the staff
