The room was very clean and spacious, the bed was comfortable to sleep in, limited tea/coffee supplies with extras needed to be bought from the mini market onsite which wasn’t open during my stay.
The sauna was not functioning either.
Gluten free options at breakfast were limited despite giving enough notice of my dietary needs. The location and overall look of the hotel was good.

We just checked out today (7/24/25) from our honeymoon. I see what people say online about the hotel being outdated. That being said, it is kept very clean including the pools, restaurant and rooms. The staff are outstanding and the location is quiet in a beautiful neighborhood that is conveniently close to the marina as well as a few beaches. We walked to 4-5 of them and saw (and went) to a lot of restaurants that are close by. Another good thing is that it is truly adult only with no screaming kids. I love kids but sometimes you just want to be in a quiet location. We would definitely stay here again.

The hotel itself needs a complete makeover, very dated, looks like it hasn’t been updated since the early 90’s, but is made up for the cleanliness, we stayed in a triple room which had amazing views from the balcony (one of the best) no tea or coffee facilities provided with paper cups and a kettle, main light not working in the room not enough sockets,breakfast was ok the selection basic, spa facilities was disappointing as mentioned needs updating, outside pool was good, lovely location small beach ten mins away with a nice restaurant/bar, marine not to far away cabs reliable and a good price to get around all in all if you’re looking for a luxury spa hotel then this is not for you, if you’re looking for basic with great location then you re good to go as it is very clean and the staff are friendly enough, this should be rated 3 with a good make over 4 or even a 5

Lovely stay . We were there on a weekday and it was so quiet and calm which we loved. We were able to Uber to old town and the strip. The room was very clean and spacious. Comfy beds. We got a room with a patio and side beach view which was very worth it. The breakfast was convenient but not my favorite.

Hotel was great though as other reviews have mentioned, the gym and the sun loungers are tired.
The pool area would be improved with new furniture.
The multi-gym machine is basically not functioning.

Rooms are spacious and sea view with massive balcony was one of the best features. Possibly a lounger could be added and the wooden chairs in 212 would have benefited with seat and back cushioning.

Breakfast was great and up there with best in our experience. The selection was more than adequate and having a freshly cooked (hot) breakfast was better than cold bacon and sausages typically found in buffet style trays.

We ate some hot snacks in hotel too for lunch which we both enjoyed.

In the evening we ventured out to various eateries around the hotel and found a variety of restaurants which will appeal to different budgets. The area Sao Rafael is quite affluent and the villas and hotels in immediate area all appear to be very high end. The area to me felt very safe and quiet.

I didn’t expect as many restaurants within 15 min walk so we only ventured down to Marina and Old Town for food on a couple of occasions.
Bolt taxi to old town square was charged at €3.50 (economy taxi max3 passengers)
Walk to marina is 15 mins though there is a hill on way down and funnily enough on return 😀

I’m scoring the Maritur an 8 overall.
Seems to be the consensus and they might be ok with that. For a little investment in pool area and gym, they would easily be a 9.

What a hotel! Really liked the decor in the room and in the lobby. The breakfast was delicious, they cooked you a full English up when you request at the chefs Kitchen area.
The outside could do with a bit of work, I.E the wall by the pool could be glass to add extra class to it and front needs more trees and plants. That's my only flaw with this Hotel the rest is amazing.
The indoor pool is what you expect with a 5 star hotel, as they have a hot tube secluded in the corner, which you control the jets yourself. The room was very clean, bed was comfy and the bathroom was outstanding.
The location was only a short walk from 3 outstanding beaches, a few local bars and restaurants. It was only a 20 minute was to the maria as well!

Will definitely be staying at this hotel again.

We spend a long time looking for the right hotel. Maritur ticked most of our boxes because it is: adults only, not many rooms, not in a town, close to beaches, on a bus route, walking distance to marina and old town, local Portuguese restaurants nearby. We only had breakfast at the hotel but their prices were comparable with most of the restaurants nearby. The area Soa Rafael is very pleasant to. There was a good choice for breakfast but the tea/coffee/etc was from a machine (powdered coffee/cocoa/milk); I assume to reduce costs. The outdoor pool was nice but I seemed to be the only one swimming in it the week I was there. In door pool was not heated but little difference in temperature from the outside pool. Made use of the laundry room which was a reasonable cost. The staff are very friendly, from the reception staff, dinning staff and cleaners. If you walk to the marina walk the 'back' route (the road that runs along the wall where the outdoor pool is) and turn right at the old cork-oak onto the unsurfaced road. Much nicer than going alone the main road. If you like to eat out I suggest walking to The Sunshine Restaurant.

Wonderful Stay!

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Maritur. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was perfectly situated as our base as we explored the Algarve, nicely secluded from the hustle and bustle but close enough to be in walking distance to many lovely beaches and restaurants. I would recommend hiring a car to stay and visit this area to get the full experience, the car park at the hotel is free and very safe.

Resort was really quiet, perfect for what we wanted. It was situated in a very quiet area and had to get a taxi to the closest restaurants. Mini market about 400m away has next to nothing. I would suggest downloading It’s My Ride app, free of charge but will need to pay taxis by card (contactless). Indoor pool was being filled up for first two days of the trip, jacuzzi spa wasn’t working. Water feature on indoor pool didn’t work for the duration of our stay. Wouldn’t recommend the restaurant for dinner as we waited for a long time on both occasions we ate in the evening - however breakfast was incredible each day. The room was basic but perfect and you’re able to smoke on your balcony. Would highly recommend going to the marina for dinner in the Italian restaurant - €4 to get to the marina at 7pm

We booked as it was adult only. Managed to find a baby sitter, so thought we would treat ourselves. :D

Cannot say enough good things about the hotel, facilities were great, food was great, we had bed and breakfast, but paid for a lunch and dinner, which was worth every penny.

The hotel is about a 30min walk from the old town, (which is an amazing place) or about a ten minute taxi trip. We used Uber and cost between 4 and 6 Euros (different every time for some reason).

Will definitely be visiting again.

The Hotel is situated within a fantastic area with lovely, clean and peaceful beaches and not crowded. The Hotel was overall good, only we missed a bit welcoming felling from staff. Nice breakfast and good dinner available. The TV in the room was really a small one, but hardly used since we had a amazing view to the beach/see :-)

Close to a small beach and the old town, where you find lots of great restaurants etc. etc.. But hotel itself, Not much atmosphere, slow staff, lunch was bad, not much to offer other than the pools. They hold deposit for everything. Turkish bath was out of order, but you have to pay to use it in any event. I don't know if I would recommend it. Maybe young couples would. Not impressed but that me, others may love it

Nice hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. We we upgraded to the suite which was very nice and spacious. Breakfast was very good, there’s something for everyone. It’s close to the center of Albufeira but definitely not within walking distance. I would certainly stay there again.

4th time at this hotel and I have to say it always is good.. very clean and very quiet..
They have renewed a lot of things and the rooms are freshly decorated.only thing I would say is the small pool needed a clean! I would return yet again to this hotel as never disappoints us. Its walking distance to a nice beach and also to the harbour which has become a lot busier, food is very nice from the Portuguese restaurant... But be prepared for a good hill walk back from the harbour.

if your given room 114 DO NOT ACCEPT as your above the kitchen deep freeze compressor and the noise and vibration will keep you awake all night ,we stayed on a 3 night trip and this was the first night and had to sleep in car as they said they were fully booked ,but offer us to sleep on the couch in the lobby ,,at over £100 per night this hotel is not worth it ,,miles from anything and you will need a car ,,,desk staff not very friendly when there is a problem ,,,this hotel is dead at night and day time ,,,felt more like a b/b ...we have stay over the years in many hotels in many different countries ,,but this must rate as the worst ...much better to be had at a cheaper price

The hotel Maritur is a very nice hotel that’s located a 5 minute walk form one of the most incredible beaches I’ve ever been to. The hotel could use a few updates or freshening up but it’s nothing that will affect your stay. For example the TVs in the room were small but I think I had them on for a total of 20 minutes during my four day stay. However the staff at the hotel is just great, incredibly helpful always pleasant and smiling. I would not hesitate to stay here again

The hotel is just an average hotel and promotes itself as a 4-star hotel. I have to say I have stayed in better 3-star hotels. The free wifi intermittent at best and only fully available on the last day of my stay. One of the reasons I booked this hotel was because it was adults only and paid a premium price for this. However, when I visited the main lounge to watch England playing Sweden in the quarter-final of the football World Cup there were children in the lounge. The bedding was not changed during the duration of my visit..

Hotel is close to two nice beaches in a very quiet location. Other than that you need a car if you want to move around and explore. Not sure I would call it a 4 stars hotel but it's fair to say that rooms are spacious and breakfast offers plenty of choice. The only down side I feel like mentioning is the staff not very welcoming and friendly. It's nice to be welcomed by someone smiling. It did not seem to be the case. Overall anyway for the price we paid it was more than worthy. And I would recommend it.

Possibly a high 3 star but not a 4.Staff are super helpful and will go out of their way to help.Breakfast could be improved by better quality produce..cheap bacon, sausage and beans..looked and tasted the part.Good selection of fruits and mediocre pastries. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner but again very basic dishes..better off going to the marina and old town for more choices.

Had a great experience staying at this hotel! Most amazing was the staff: pleasant, accommodating, highly professional and always ready to assist and/or give honest advice on local attractions, food, transportation or whatever else you might need assistance with. The owner of the hotel was frequently seen on site, also greeting his customers and making sure that we are safe and happy with our stay. Comfortable, clean rooms with a beautiful view on ocean or on hills (depending on the side of the building), delicious breakfasts for various tastes included (and lunches and suppers are also available on site for additional cost), conveniently located close to the ocean and not too far from the Old town and shopping malls (we walked by foot, but taxi is only 6 euros).

Very close to the beach,not long walk to marina and beautiful views around. We have it room facing the ocean. We enjoyed mornings and evenings in a balcony just watching to the ocean. Swimming pools are nice too,but most we spend on a beach. We found one restaurant, not far after the local shop,food there is very good and people are very friendly.Shame I don't remember the name.

Good hotel and location

I visited the hotel for 4 nights as part of a business trip. It has a good central location in the resort (which is mainly hotel and residential). There are a few restaurants and a shop nearby. The hotel has its own breakfast restaurant which served a good buffet, and a separate pizzeria that I didn't visit. The beach is just over a 5 minute walk away. The pool area is good and the indoor pool is a nice touch. The gym is okay. My room was very comfortable and a good size, especially the bathroom, which was huge. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

In my view, this hotel did not warrant a 4 star rating. It was very dated and rooms and pool/dining areas needed a complete updating and refurbishing. Rooms were very basis, although very clean. The pool area sunbeds and parasols were very worn and drab and the parasols in the outdoor dining area were torn and tatty - there was no ambiance to the area for eating out. The breakfast provided was a good selection but was disappointed with the evening meals - not well presented and certainly not 4 star rating.
On a plus point, the staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the Manager and Reception Staff.
The hotel is in an excellent position and had lovely views of the sea from the balcony - with some investment into its upkeep, this would be a lovely hotel which has the beautiful beaches of Arrifes Beach and Sao Raphael Beach only a few minutes walk away with their own excellent beach restaurants - their fish dishes were delicious and very well presented.

First time at this hotel.

We have stayed in the Sao Rafael area many times but never at this hotel. We were pleasantly surprised and have had a very enjoyable stay here. The hotel is very clean and modern with friendly and helpful staff. The room was a good size with good quality fittings, TV and tea making facilities. There was a welcome bottle of water, tea bags, coffee and some milk. The bathroom was also a generous size with a bath, shower, bidet and toilet. There was a plentiful supply of shower gel and shampoo, toilet rolls and tissues. The balcony was large with a carpark/village view which is what we expected. The only thing I could say is that the matress protectors (I know they are necessary), were plastic backed which is the reason I gave an OK review for the room. I found them uncomfortable especially after a very hot day. The bed and pillows were, however, very comfortable. The air con is extremely efficient. There are 2 outdoor pools and an indoor pool, all maintained well. Shower/toilet facilities round the pools excellent. Had a B&B stay. Breakfasts good with lots of choice and even had live violin music on 2 occasions, very civilised. We only ate in the hotel one night and unfortunately I think they were a member of staff down and we had to wait for food as the visitors on full board were being served first. Service was, as a result slightly disjointed. Food was ok. Fairly close to beach, about 10 minute walk and 20 minute walk to Marina and 45 min walk to Old Town.

Relaxing hotel with friendly and helpful staff

We are a middle-aged couple. We booked this holiday two days before arrival. We hadn't rented a car. Upon arrival at 9.30, we were still able to have dinner at the hotel restaurant. Staff seemed very competent and friendly. We discovered on our 4 day stay that this extended to all staff in the hotel including particularly those on reception and in the breakfast area. The lady at reception was particularly pleasant helpful and informative, whether it was in order taxis for us, giving directions to local beaches or to the Marina or with advice about places to go or eat out at in Albufeira Old Town. The Fishermans Festival was on that weekend and she also gave us a view on the music we could expect. There are two outdoor pools and one indoor plus a range of other useful facilities in the hotel. The hotel and rooms are spotless and as someone who loves fruit found the breakfast ample and tasty with a wide range od different foods and fresh breads.

Great variety breakfast buffet & close to beach

Had a real relaxing week with loads of variety at the breakfast buffet. The staff were helpful and friendly. Restaurants and the minimarket were in walking distance. The beach was close and the marine was within a 20minute walk.

Relaxing break

This hotel is really good. If you want peaceful relaxing break. Hotel is very comfortable. The staff are friendly and speak good English. The room was good and had a large balcony. There are two nice pools outside and plenty of sun loungers. Beach is just 10 minute walk away. The only downside is not much around hotel. There is a free bus to old town once a day but need to get taxi back. The old town is full of bars,shops and restaurants. I would recommend this to couples who want to just chill out and want piece and quiet.

Romantic stay for young couple

Myself and my partner had a very nice time at the hotel and we would recommend it for any young couples like ourselves, who are not used to 5* luxury, it was certainly the best hotel either of us have ever stayed at.

The staff were very accommodating before and during our stay and were all very friendly. The room was excellent and very comfortable, however the shower was a little weak.
We enjoyed the outdoor pool (indoor pool was closed throughout our stay) and thought there were enough sunbeds, contrary to what has been written on some of the reviews.

We had mixed experiences with the restaurant, dinner was a bit of a confusing experience but the three course meal was good value at €16, lunch was sometimes extremely slow to come out alongside drinks, but the staff were pleasant enough.

Myself and partner enjoy walking but i wouldn't attempt the trek to Albufeira if you aren't reasonably active and healthy as it's a challenging 45 min walk including steep hills. The beach nearby is amazing, I popped the question down there, as was the Sardinha Arrifes restaurant which is close by, other than that the nearest places of interest seemed to be in Albufeira.

All in all we loved the hotel and would definitely stay again

We had a great stay

We wanted a short break in the sun with no kids running around screaming and this hotel looked perfect. We arrived late and the greeting was lovely. Overall the staff were extremely helpful and polite throughout. We booked a standard room which had a car park facing view but it was fine and still had an open view from the large balcony. Breakfast is very good with a good selection of hot and cold buffet and an fresh orange juice squeezer. In high season they have a violinist playing at breakfast and live music at dinner. We opted for half board and were not disappointed, soup, salad buffet, meat, fish, or vegetarian choices for main, and lots of dessert choice. The hotel is 10 minutes drive from Albufeira, so a rental car is useful or it is 5 Euro by taxi. There is a supermarket with coffee shop within 5 minutes drive on the road to Armacao de pera. you cannot walk to anything from the hotel so bear this in mind. San Rafael beach is a 15-20 minute walk and there is a smaller one about 10 minutes away. Loads of other beaches within a short drive. Finally the pools are quite small but there is sufficient beds and shade and it is DEAD quiet. There are showers and toilets by the pool for those with later flights after check-out time.

Peaceful, clean hotel. Two good pools. Close to two very good beaches, especially Sao Rafael. A handful of good restaurants close by or 10 minutes by cab to Albufeira Old Town. Very good breakfast, as healthy or unhealthy as you like it. Would definitely go back

Good location, super clean and quiet....bliss!

Good clean, hotel, fab breakfast (squeeze your own orange juice), delightful staff. The rooms were spotless and cleaned efficiently daily. Good location for amazing walks along beaches, 30 min walk to Albufeira. We were half board and although evening meal food choice was basic the salad bar was a delight. The staff were helpful, gracious and ,of course, spoke perfect english. The spa was another delight, nadine, the super beautician/masseuse, was amazing...book yourself a massage! We did eat out a couple of evenings when out for the day. As its adults only it is quiet so if you like laying by a pool, basking in the sun sipping pink gin, this is the place for you.

Not touristy Gorgeous beaches sea view

The 2 sandy picturesque beaches had briiliant restaurants. Easy to walk to. Very quiet location 1 shop had all needs. Marina a 15mins walk lots more shops restaurants.
