This is not a 4 star hotel! Despite having a nice pool (with few sun lounges) and being in a good location, the additional costs of a kettle, iron & pool towels is mean-spirited & not consistent with a 4 star hotel. The limited, inflexible, unappetizing breakfast is also poor. In a country that grows millions of oranges, why would you offer guests orange drink? Horrible, Other reviews have also mentioned the limited breakfast. Our hotel room wasn’t cleaned - when my wife complained, the female receptionist argued with her, & the cleaner herself insisted she’d cleaned it, despite the head house keeper establishing clearly that the room hadn’t been cleaned. The female receptionist overcharged me for the per day hire of a safety deposit box; while the male receptionist was polite & tried to rectify the payment, the female receptionist sought me out in my room & personally objected to the fact that I was trying to retrieve my money because (in her words) “it was only a few Euros”. This sort of personal attack on guests is unacceptable & unprofessional. I asked for a quiet room and was given a room above reception and next to the bar / entertainment area. It was advertised as parking on site but in fact you just parked in a public space wherever you could find parking.
Very disappointing.

Do Cerro…

The staff were so nice and friendly. Wonderful reception, thank you Claudia!!! Rooms were spacious and we had a balcony overlooking the ocean, town and beach. Food was good at the restaurant. Always ready to help. Wonderful stay.

A bit overpriced for what it is.

A solo stay for short holiday - the hotel is nice, very clean, with friendly and helpful staff.

Cons - It is a bit more expensive that other hotels that offer much the same, so it depends on personal preference. I prefer self catering so for me this it's unneccesarily costly, and I was shocked to learn that you have to pay (as a guest) to use the gym, sauna and steam room, as well as other things, such as hiring a kettle/towels.

Pros - lovely pool area and late night services for food/drinks (10pm). Close to ammenities.

Fantastic Vacation

Just returned from a wonderful week-long stay at the Hotel Do Cerro and I must admit that we were both hugely impressed by the layout and most of all, the friendliness of the staff who are simply wonderful. Although the location is slightly uphill, do not let that put you off as it is located within a quiet area less than ten minutes walk to the centre of the old town. Rooms were clean, the pool small but comfortable (no fighting for sun beds!) and my wife and I had a great stay. I will return to this hotel and can highly recommend it.

Overnight on my way to southern Spain - with a dog

Great location 10 mins walk to the beach 20 min walk to the marina. The rooms only had 1 electrical outlet. It was a challange charging devices. I have never been to a hotel where you have to pay to use the gym. The pool area is nice however the snack bar inside is very expensive. There is a convience store 3 mins walk away. Go there for drinks and snacks it is very reasonable. Don't forget to ack your beach towel. They do not provide towels at their pool.

Location was excellent. However in room there was only 1 electrical outlet avaliable for phone charging. Not even an outlet in the washroom. I have NEVER stayed at a hotel that charges for use of their gym to guests. Breakfast food was the same everyday. After day 3 it was dissapointing.

Was very happily surprised by this hotel the pictures did not do it justice was a lot more modern than I was lead to belivie, all the staff very super friendly and could always find someone to help with any questions. Very close to the beach and old town both only a 10 min walk away which is very handy. I would 100% go back!

Pity about the gym

Really friendly checkin and great location. The breakfast was satisfactory continental style. I enjoyed the stay but it would have been even better if the use of the gym was actually included in the substantial cost of our 4 star stay: this was disappointing and the fact the pool was so deep despite being a short length. Overall a great location and nice hotel but lack of the gym and the deep pool mean I very much doubt that will stay here again. Albuferia is beautiful.

Decent, basic and dated hotel in a good location

Hotel is well located with the town 10 minutes walk downhill.
Basic hotel with basic rooms and comfortable beds. The shower was okay though didn't like the shower gel provided-i suggest you bring your own.
Breakfast was okay but the same choice daily so got boring after two days.
The views from the hotel room were good.
The staff were mostly very helpful.

A very good experience

No kettle in room but you could hire one which came with a cup but no tea coffee or milk. Not so bad as there was a very good buffet breakfast. Overall hotel was better than I expected and will stay there again.

Nice hotel 10 minutes from Old Town

Our room had a view of the ocean and lots of place to put things in both the room and bathroom. The breakfasts were wonderful and the hotel has a very nice bar and great pool area. The only negatives were no room coffee or tea, and our WIFI was terrible.

Lovely hotel but not so lovely location

The Hotel do Cerro is an excellent hotel with lovely staff, but the small swimming pool area let the hotel down, the sun beds were very close together and not many of them were in the sunshine. We were put off by this, which was annoying as we prefer to sit by a swimming pool,so we went down to the beach area.
The hotel is about a 10 to 15 minute walk \" downhill\" to the beach, easy going down, but walking back up to the hotel is quite hard. Albufeira old town is beautiful, a lovely resort.

We had a really enjoyable stay here during a long weekend in Albufiera. The hotel is quite central, about 10 minutes walk from the old town and the beach, but far enough away from the nightlife so as to not disturb sleep. The hill is a bit steep in places though.

With so much to do in Albufiera we didn't really spend too much time here, apart from breakfast, some lounging by the pool and sleeping, but found the hotel a good base.

Staff are friendly and helpful, rooms were clean, and breakfast was enough to set us up for the day.

Lovely hotel

My boyfriend and I stayed in hotel do cerro for 7 nights, we enjoyed our stay at the hotel, the only little thing I didn't like was that the room was small (I expected a bit bigger, but after couple of days it didn't mater :-)).
Staff was very friendly and we received good service from them.

Location was great. Staff were ok. Felt they were 'cheap'... Charged for ice, gave paper cups for room. Very loud halls. Never changed sheets. One shampoo and shower gel for four nights get stay. Towels changed once. We had to continually ask for the service that should have been automatically done. Disappointing.

Second year in the hotel & only gripe would be lack of tea/coffee facilities & locked fridge - never did find out the hire cost. Location on a hilltop might put off someone with mobility problems but we found the climbs good exercise which eased the guilt from excessive consumption. Plenty hostelries to break the climb as well!

Great value for money long weekend break

My Husband and I stayed in this hotel for a long weekend on March and had a lovely time. The hotel is up quite a steep hill (which has steps) which leads pretty much to the beach. It is 10 minutes walk from the old town and lots of the restaurants etc had great local reviews.

Breakfast was a mixture of continental and cooked so there was lots of choice. My only small critique would be the juice wasn't fresh, it was cordial and very sweet. But lots of choice of coffee/teas etc as alternatives.

We chose to pay a bit more for a lovely sea view room with a queens size bed and were very impressed with the room and the view. Well worth the extra money we paid over the 3 nights we stayed. We had a very late flight on the Friday and didn't arrive until 11pm but they have 24hour check in and free parking so this wasn't a problem. Check out isn't until midday which was nice not to have to rush when we left.

Would definitely recommend this hotel. Some of the decor is quite dated in the main lobby and corridors etc, but the rooms are nicely furnished and great value for money

This hotel also has an indoor pool and spa facility which was an added bonus and an outdoor pool and cafe which was open during most of the day. Both of these we took advantage of during our stay.

Great hotel at a reasonable price.

We had an excellent stay here. The staff were friendly, the rooms were pleasant and the hotel a decent distance from the main town.
It was winter during our visit, so there was a bit of a chill in the room, but not bad at all.
Breakfast was a buffet, and they provided a really good spread.

Location was nice-close to the Piscador Beach just 300 m downstairs.Nice view from the balcony.We were in November so Bar which is in hotel was very quiet at this time that I can't say in summer time. Room is big but hotel itself is old fashion but cozy.

The hotel offers a gym but you must book your time in advance and pay 8€ per day. Fridge is available at a cost of 4€ per day. No ice machine in the hotel - when I asked for ice my answer was we do not give ice we sell ice. Location was great but will not return to this hotel

The room was clean but had trouble with air condition. There were no varieties at the buffet breakfast especially for people with gluten free allergy and milk intolerant .
Access to pool with good but not easy to go to the beach.
I will definitely not pay another visit there.

Fun, Friendly, and Convenient...

I was passing through Albufeira on my way to Lisbon and decided to try this place. It's a bit from the main highway but offers a great view of Portugal's beaches and has the perks that make or break my stay - good wifi, free, ample parking, a decent restaurant, clean, comfortable rooms, and a helpful staff. I happened to stop by on a karaoke night and the bar was a blast all night. I booked a room during the off-season and got the place for a steal. I have no complaints and would definitely visit again.

The Hotel is comfortable and the reception staff very nice and helpful. The location was also good. The negatives were the meanness of charging for things.It cost to use the gym! it costs for a fridge!. The other negative was the quality of the food....very average canteen like food not befitting a 4 star hotel. Another annoyance was that the wireless that was supposed to be free and hotel wide did not work in our room. Irritating to say the least. I would say it is a good 3 star hotel, but not a 4 star.

Hotel with character and friendly atmosphere

This was our second visit to this hotel and we were not disappointed. It is a quirky hotel in terms of its layout, the location is great, on the hill overlooking the fisherman's harbour but close enough to walk into central Albufeira. The hotel is very clean and cosy; the beds comfortable. There is a good selection of English TV channels - even got to see Match of the Day! We were on half board - excellent value for money - food was good, home-cooked although not a great deal of choice. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It is a good place to base yourself if you like energetic walks although the bus runs from the front of the hotel.

Hotel is ok, location is good only 5 minutes walk to albufeira old town and there is a city beach close as well. The hotel itself it is nice but rooms are very basic nothing special and what kills you on entrance is that you have to pay €4 per day to use little fridge - nonsense. What kind of 4 star hotel does that? They charge for almost everything, €5 for gym, €5 for sauna, €5 for jacuzzi soon they will charge for sun beds at outdoor pool! They have facilities for the 4 star hotel but nobody uses them as it is ridiculous to pay for every thing that you expect to be for guests use. The only good thing about the hotel is the dinner - good value of price and very good selection of food each night. Breakfast ok the same thing every day.

We loved the room... the view, the bed, the whole room was awesome... except we had ants... When we complained they just said sorry and didn't offer a discount or anything. For that we were disappointed as when we made it to our next location we packed some of those pesky ants with us. We did however like the location a lot, view of the ocean and was quiet!

This hotel was fantastic value,particularly the indoor pool as outdoor still too cold in march. Scenery around coast & walks spectacular, goes without saying!Only small fault was that things like cold baked beans @ breakfast doesn't really suit UK custom & most prefer Uk sausages not european version!Great selection of food & lots of it. I will be back definately.

The hotel is well located, not far away from the sea and the city center of Albufeira. Very welcoming team. Our room with terace was spacious with a nice sea view. Useful to have snacks available at the swimming pool. Having a free public parking space is also a great plus. We have had a very good time at this beautiful hotel !

Sniket beteende på Hotellet. Inga näsdukar på rummet. Bara en nyckel. På frukosten fanns vita bönor varannan dag. Lovades rabatt i restaurangen som vi aldrig fick. Maten sådär, mycket bättre att äta ute i stan. Däremot kvar städningen toppen och det två av receptionisterna var mycket trevliga.

Personnel très sympathique et disponible pour répondre à nos questions.
Hotel propre mais chambre avec décors désuet, ne remettent pas de produits comme le savon, shampoing s’ils sont terminés ou presque, insonorisation pauvre a cause des portes en bois et des planchers en céramique, 2 lits simples moins appréciés....tout cela nous a déçu pour le prix....trop cher selon nous si on compare avec les autres hôtels faits durants notre séjour au Portugal.
Bien situé mais très en hauteur par rapport au centre et a la plage, ça tient en forme!! Environnement calme apprécié toutefois.
Piscine extérieure avec resto snack très bien. Déjeuner très bien.
N’avons pas pu profiter de toutes leurs autres installations car n’avons pas eu le temps....
Je recommande mais avec certaines réserves selon les critères de chacun!

O Hotel é rasurável, porem não ficamos no Hotel e sim ao lado, ou seja, em uma extensão do Hotel na Rua ao lado, num quarto no subsolo, muito velho e de ruim acesso. Tinhamos que sair na Rua e andarmos até o Hotel para tomar o café da manhã e se queríamos usar as demais dependência do Hotel, como piscina e etc, também. Porem não gostei de reservar um Hotel no preço que pagamos a diária para ficarmos em outro local, ou seja, em um pequeno prédio ao lado e não no Hotel. Não gostei.

Perfekt läge på höjden endast kort promenad från Albufeiras restauranger, barer och fin strand. Lugnt men nära till puls. Utsikten från balkongen över byn och stranden var fantastisk. Allt var rent och fräsch dock lite gammalmodigt. Frukosten var ok men inte den bästa. Gymmet kostade extra och depositioner krävdes för allt från safetybox till poolhanddukar. Det fanns två gratisparkering nära, men hotellet garanterade inte en plats, vilket antyddes i beskrivningen.

For lille altan med for dårlige møbler.
Det stank fra kloakken på badeværelset
Det dryppede med vand fra et lys armatur på badeværelset, så der var Farre for brand.
Værelset var for lille til prisen.
Der var tusindvis af måger der skreg døgnet rundt.

goed hotel. het ontbijt is zeer goed; veel keuze.
niet zo ver van het centrum en de zee; maar enorm hoogteverschil.
De kuisdames waren niet mild met de toiletartikelen; met één flesje moest je met twee de gehele week douchen. Toen ik er nog vroeg kregen we er toch nog ééntje bij.

slechte WI-Fi.
avondbuffet was lekker, maar weinig keuze.

Fantastisk utsikt från vår balkong. Sol och måne speglade sig i havet! Branta backar för att komma till havet eller centrum. Poolen hade för kort öppettid. Mycket trappor, ingen hiss!!

Alojamiento muy bien situado, a 10 minutos del centro y la playa.
El desayuno buffet aceptable, aunque echaba en falta algo más de dulce, ya que solamente había croissants.
La única pega la cama, a pesar de ser enorme (2x2), era excesivamente blanda, y la espalda sufrió las consecuencias.
Por lo demás, estancia muy agradable.

Not close to the beach at all

Cockroachs on the floor
A long way down to the beach and to the centrum of the city ( long way up to get to return back to the hotel )
Cleaning ladies were very nice. The personal of the hotel was not so nice, they say it’s an hotel for pets but when asked about it they said it was not an they were rude with the fact that we left our dog in the room.
