Overall great stay, the staff are very friendly and accommodating.

Only thing I would keep in mind next time coming to Albufeira is that the breakfast isn’t the best. Very limited options and the same spread everyday.

The Vila Gale Cerro has everything that you would need at a resort hotel. We were able to enjoy the pool area which had food and drink options throughout the day. Pool was a bit cool but refreshing and large - perfect for a hot day. We had no problem finding pool loungers in the middle of the afternoon - plenty of space. The location of the hotel is also convenient for walking to the beach and nightlife. Room was clean and comfortable with a nice balcony. Great option for a stay in Albufeira!

Excellent hotel with amazing and friendly staff. We really enjoyed our stay there, staff were very helpful. Hotel is located between the old town and new town of Albufeira, so you get to enjoy both areas. There are entertainments every night, organised by their manager known as Marcos, very nice gentleman. Hotel is not noisy at all, even with the nightly entertainments which start from 9pm until 11pm. Breakfast and dinner are lovely and very tasty.

We had a great time in Albufeira and the hotel experience was the icing on the cake. We will definitely be returning there in the near future.

Bed was comfortable, tv and air conditioning are fine. Had a duvet which isnt needed in august. Hair dryer has time limit of a minute. Floors of room werent being swept.

Water presdlsure in sink a bit low.

Great buffet breakfast, nice pool with morning activites and nightly entertainment.

Internet for phone was fine but for a laptop keept playing up.

We would highly recommend this hotel. We arrived earlier than check in time; they allowed us to use their amenities and pool while they readied a room. They upgraded our room to a better view. The pool was beautiful, clean, and refreshing. Though it was full, we could always find a place to sit. Staff were super friendly throughout the stay. Breakfast was typical of most hotels offering fresh fruit, croissants, cold cuts, cheese, bread, and granola. The surrounding area was full of places to eat and the hotel was walkable to the beach and tourist attractions. Parking was readily available at the hotel. The room was comfortable, spacious, and clean. Our biggest complaint was the shower which had a tub that was hard to get in/out of and had a small shower.

Clean and simple hotel with everything you need. I was traveling solo, but it seemed popular with families—lots of kids around. The pool area was great, and the daytime poolside restaurant had solid options (loved the burgers). My room was clean, though the walls were thin—I could hear doors slamming pretty clearly. Location was convenient, close to fast food spots and a grocery store. Overall, a good budget-friendly stay in Albufeira.

Ok hotel in good location for the old town.
Have stayed here before and definitely needs a revamp it looks tired.
The breakfast was not great with basic items not being restocked and staff seemed uninterested.Management really need to get a grip of the problems there.
Around the pool the sun beds are well past there best and need replacing and food and beverage prices are crazy high 4euro for a small water 5euro for a coke 6euro for a local beer.
Would rate this hotel as no more than a 3 star and would no longer stay here.

We arrived very late. All was satisfactory on check in but the room was so cold. It did have an Air conditioning unit which we used initially to heat the room.
The problem was it was on the ground floor facing the road (back of the building) with high hedging . This made it difficult to attract sun into the room
We woke feeling very cold.

Hotel is Okay and not great.

Hotel is old and things are falling apart. Flush push was not working. Heating was not working. Though staff was helpful and they fixed things. Also i have never stayed in hotel which will charge you for In-room Safe box. Overall stay was okay. But property is in need of upgrade.

Plenty of good but not perfect

The hotel was in a perfect spot for us, two middle age gents over for the weekend playing some golf. Close enough to the old town craziness for a drink and some food but not on your doorstep. It is also in the perfect spot to pick up the main road and get to the courses. We never waited more than 2min for an Uber.

The hotel itself was clean and the breakfast buffet served its purpose. We had the suite room, and for two, it was ridiculously spacious. Only slight gripe with the room was the lighting as it was quite time and only lamps for the bedroom/living room. Other than that I’d say better than a Premier Inn not as nice as Marriott.

Now for the cons on our stay.
-Steam room was out of service usually not a problem but given it was raining on the Saturday of our stay we did want to make full use of the facilities.
-You had to buy and wear a swimming cap to use the indoor pool, I feel if this is a rule it should be stated upfront on the hotels facility listings.
-The boiler had broken in the hotel so there was no hot water from 1-4pm during our trip. This was a bit of a pain when I used the gym at lunch and then had to have an ice shower.
-Finally there isn’t a single iron in the hotel and for me that’s not good enough for a location with a 4* status. That said the staff were great and did get my few bit ironed in a 4-5hrs turn around granted for a fee.

Overall though I would definitely stay again and use as a base for any Algarve golfing trip.

This is not a 4 star hotel. The amenities are in good shape but the rooms are very outdated. For the safety box they charge a fee per day and for the indoor pool you need to wear a head cap which also they sell.

The AC does not work, it just throws air but not cold air. We reported this issue and they did not fix it.

Pillows are getting old and smelly, bedsheets are thinning out, could use some new bedding. A group of young guys came in drunk at 2:30 am and were running and making noise in hallway and on balconies till 4:30 am. Complained to front desk, they would take care of it and same problem again the following night. It seems the hotel was okay with that. I stayed there last year and liked my stay enough to come again, but next year I won’t stay there anymore. The breakfast is good, the location is good.

This hotel was in the perfect location! Less than 10 min walk to the beach area where you could enjoy the water and walk to old towne. Also a short walk (15 mins) to the strip. Quiet area with restaurants within minutes.

I picked this one because it is close to everything and I wanted a gym. Everything was clean but pretty dated. The sofa in the room was so uncomfortable and the lighting was terrible. They have no tissues in the rooms and none are available. They also have no iron or ironing board. My husband went to a shop down the street and had to buy one since our clothes were wrinkled from being in suitcases. Another guest was there buying one at the same time and the woman at the store said they sell a lot to hotel guests.

It was dated building , with paint coming off and walls with crack inside rooms. Bath tub had sealant weathering away and yellowish all over. More like a 2 star if going by star rating . Their pool is not monitored by life guards and timing of gym and sauna is really unhelpful with it all being shut at 7 PM

I don’t feel it merits a 4star rating. Lacking some amenities. Room floor could’ve been cleaner, very dusty. Hotel a bit far from old town, but got used to the walk. Front desk staff was helpful and friendly. Breakfast buffet was very good. Room was quiet except for when neighbors had tv too loud. Bed was a bit hard, but okay. Couldn’t use the Spa facilities, twice went down and it was full of children. 6 kids in the whirlpool, and lots of yelling and screaming. Spa should be for adults to relax in! Stayed in February, I imagine summer would be impossible. Wouldn’t stay here again.

A very pleasant stay at this hotel for a long weekend. Staff were friendly and helpful, rooms although a bit dated were clean and very spacious and comfortable. We booked a pool view and were very happy to see that it also meant we got a sea view too. Lovely and clean outdoor pool area. Plenty of options at breakfast. A great food selection. Had a drink in the hotel bar, great cocktails too.
We did book a massage which was wonderful but wanted to use the indoor spa/pool area after. It was very busy and noisy with lots of families and there were no spare loungers or lockers in the changing rooms so we had to abandon our plans to relax by the pool. Other than that a faultless stay.

I consider this a solid 3-star property by US standards, or compared to Lisbon and Porto. The hotel is clean and spacious, but it's simply too dated. The common areas and rooms are dim, which leaves you a feeling of being in a basement. The indoor pool was a treat for my children since we came in October and the outdoor pool was too cold. The staff was helpful and friendly. I had a lot of problems with the spotty WiFi and was stressing out since I had to work 2 days while I was there. The staff arranged to give me a mobile WiFI hot spot to save me. The location is great for Albuferia as it's across the street for restaurants, grocery stores and 12 minute walk to Old Town and the Strip.

A very average hotel. Great location but everything else is just average. Rooms are quite small and tired looking. There are definitely not enough sunbeds to go around so unless you get to the pool before 8am, you won't get a decent spot. Entertainment was lack lustre and the breakfast was pretty boring and repetitive. We had a room that overlooked the main strip which meant that it was really noisy.

The pub is great though and the cleaners are fabulous.

Everything you need for a great vacation is available at or near this hotel.
Spacious room, huge outdoor pool (indoor pool too), spa, fantastic buffet breakfast; walking distance to beaches and great restaurants.
We stayed in 5 different accommodations while exploring Portugal, and this hotel was definitely our favorite !! We hope we have the opportunity to return one day.

Check in was efficient, room clean and spacious but a little tired, nice pool but more umbrellas and beds required. Good choice for breakfast but had to wait for hot food at times. Rooms at front of hotel can be noisy and have a view of main road pool view rooms have a much nicer view and would probably be much quieter. Dog and Duck bar is unusual and pleasant and reasonably priced for hotel bar. Good location about 10 to 15 minutes walk to beach and old town. Would like to thank the managment for providing us with bubbly and cake on the occasion of my birthday and also our annivesary, nice touch.

Nice view from pool view room towards sea, hotel clean, staff helpful. Location good as near main road with buses and local road train.

Dining room dark and gloomy decor, food labelling could be improved. However, if you don't eat meat or shellfish you will be disappointed with choices for evening meal as only once in 4 nights was fresh fish offered which meant I had to eat cheese for protein with main meals.

Albufeira is a party place with both the Strip and old town being full of
bars and places to eat, however, avoid the Strip as many young visitors going there to drink excessively even during the day.

Hotel was dirty, pool area was never cleaned, birds droppings all over the sun loungers. Maids cleaned rooms however floors were still dirty.
I got my handbag stolen at the breakfast area on the last day, not one member of staff helped looked for it. We were treated like criminals!

This hotel is nice with a great outdoor pool area and indoor pool. Rooms are spacious. The food for breakfast was poor. Also you had to queue to get a coffee or boiling water for tea at a machine. This meant by the time you got back to your breakfast it was cold. Also had to queue for the toaster and it was very slow. The only part of the breakfast which was lovely was the fresh fruit. Room wasn’t serviced until late afternoon which is not great if you want to come back to your room after lunch for a nap. Also when I rang reception to get an iron they said they couldn’t supply one and that we would need to go down the street to a laundromat to get a shirt ironed. Great location as it is walking distance to beach and old town.

Hotel needs updating throughout, old fashioned decor. Spa opening hours are ridiculous and inconvenient for early risers like myself although you can still access the very basic outdated gym. Jacuzzi room had cockroach in it and often cold water. Heated pool not heated although room was warm and cosy. Outside pool area nice but music annoying. Corridors leading to rooms very dark. Room and bathroom was a good size with a basic kitchen which again needs some serious updating. Breakfast okay with lots of options but same every day. Staff pleasant and helpful.
Not a 4 star rating (UK standards) in my opinion but as we spent most of our time in the outside pool area or at the beach it was okay.

The cleanliness of the property was terrible. We had to move due the floors/windows being filthy and the room having an infestation of ants!

We were expecting so much more from this hotel but were greatly disappointed!

Will not be back.

Fabulous hotel & service

I took my mum here for a 4 night stay for her birthday and we were absolutely delighted with both the hotel itself and the staff service. We loved the pool/sea view from the room & the breakfast was fabulous! We could not fault our stay at all. We would definitely recommend this hotel & would definitely return.

Was very clean, friendly staff. Good location walking distance of both towns. Lots of information available for local activities. Very close to places to eat and 5 minute walk to the beach and old town.
