Resort is dated and old looks like the 1970.not enough storage for clothes .a dresser would be nice .i ask and email for a room not on a hill because of health issues,I got apartment on a hill . Got stuck in elevator with my husband for 15 minutes which was a terrifying experience,no apologies for that .got locked out of apartment one night for 30 minutes as lock would not work we were frozen as night is cold .
The staff were amazing especially Monica the house keeper very kind and helpful. So we had a few bad experiences that were never acknowledged.portugal is a beautiful country and beautiful people.

Our stay was pleasant. The apartment was very large is size, the views were gorgeous, the beds were comfortable to sleep in, the towels were of good quality, loved the bidet, easy accessible property and a large variety of tasty meals and drinks in the restaurant.

Weather was hit and miss.. A couple of days of rain and heavy rain at that. A few leaks about the hotel but nothing crazy. All was taken care of.. Staff couldn't do enough.. Love the hotel pool and that we are on the beach.. Plenty of food on offer and nice food at that.. Will happily come back to this hotel..

Brilliant beach location, excellent value

It's 10 out of 10 if you love the beach and swimming in the sea. Brilliant location just a short 10 minute walk into town along a boardwalk on the beach. However the pool area is a little on the small side, but I love the beach so it was a perfect for myself and my 15 year old son. For a three star resort, it exceeded expectations, excellent value for money.

Ideal beach location Hotel

Myself and my husband have just had a wonderful week in the hotel. We were all inclusive which we never go for as we love to go out to eat. But, the food was excellent and in abundance. Room was cleaned every day with fresh towels. Ideal location right on the beach and walking distance to the old town. Would definitely go back!!!

We arrived early and they did not want to give access to our room. But after some wining we got in an hour earlier than 3 pm check in. Tried dinner in the all inclusive. Was not food I would recommend. Beach is great. Access is good. Room was cleaned on regular basis Has kitchen but no kettle or way to heat water

Accommodation was a basic twin room but this was what we wanted and the very close location to an amazing beach by far made up for it. Had a room with a view of the sea and a nice little balcony that got the sun all day.

Hotel is very outdated. Needs a spruce up. We were supposed to have a self catering apartment. All it had was a fridge and where the hob should have been was a piece of steel covering it up. No other cooking facilities to hand. Hotel alcoholic drinks were watered down. The staff were very polite.

Worst part was the showers inside the hotel indoor pool/gym area which I can only describe as dilapidated

The room was nice and big and clean we were in A block had a sea view. The property is dated and could do with repainting. The staff are very nice and helpful. Nice pool with lots of outside seating. The food was nice lots of choice. The downfall was there was a lot of very drunk people through the day and evening and could be very annoying to other guests.

Great wee 4 night winter break.

We stayed here for 4 nights on a B&B basis and, given the previous reviews, overall we were pleasantly surprised! The hotel is in a perfect spot with fabulous views over the beach, the rooms are dated and in need of some tic but are ideal for a short stay. The buffet breakfast was perfectly fine....and would have something to suit everyone. We stayed in January which is off season and the hotel was fairly quiet....think it would be pretty manic in the height of summer with hundreds of folks all wanting to eat at the same time.
The evening ‘entertainment’ was not to our taste but seemed to go down well with other guests. Cocktails were 5 euros with beer costing 3 euros so, if you are not AI, the prices are quite cheap.
We enjoyed our short winter break but wouldn’t be rushing back in the summer....,it could get very very busy!

This hotel/club is one of the worst experiences I had. First of all, it has NO wifi, only at the reception area. Second, it says on \"Expedia\" that it got a GYM!!! guess what? there is no gym!!! it got only one OLD rubbish treadmill, and it is not even working!!!.
the place overall is not organized, you would not find your room easily, some one form the reception had to walk you to your room. No parking, anyone from anywhere could come and park there without anyone noticing.
The price was too high for this old badly managed hotel. I would not recommend this hotel for any one.

Just a good words for this resort.
Pool is nice and clean,rooms as well. Walking distance to the city centre and 1minute to the sea.
All inclusive in May we pay 26e per person and it's definitely worth.
Food is brilliant,drinks not really it's just simple ones.
At the end it was great stay and huge recommendation!

FOUR DAY WINTER BREAK

This is a huge complex. We were told at the reception that as we booked through Hotels .com they could only offer studios/rooms at the furthest most point away from all facilities; Quite a trek and isolated. We politely complained and after about a 10 min. wait were told that we could have a studio closer. We were happy to accept even though there were no views other than the backs of buildings. We had our own transport and were wanting to explore so sitting on the balcony overlooking the sea was not a requirement. This would not be suitable for everyone. We enjoyed the bkf. and dinner choices in the buffet restaurant that had great views over the sea. The bar was not for us. Large plain hanger of a place with no character, although did attract a lot of people. Other bars and eateries were a short walk away. Pay extra for WiFi in rooms, but having spoken to people who tried this we did not bother as reports were that the signal was not good. WiFi in reception area was good and free.
Excellent beach and pool area and we managed several times to walk to Albufeira town and the entertainment \"STRIP\" in the opposite direction, both along the sand and road. It is a hike but manageable, although there is a bus stop at the top of the steep gradient road from the hotel (200m).

Please don't listen to the negatives.. This place has it all.. Close to the beach.. Literally a stones throw with a lovely easy walk to the old town. We had a 2 bed sea view room in Block c.. Alittle dated yes but you get what you pay for and we were more than happy the view magnificent!! Sun sets incredible. The all inclusive option was overall very good plenty of choice and something different every night.. Hard to fault!! Only WiFi in clubhouse and reception.not in rooms unless you pay extra Staff are working hard especially in the restaurant so bare with them..they do there best. There is a slight hill down to the beach and pool area and snack barand you have to walk it, but we didn't find it an issue can see why some might. Overall I'd say the hotel may need a makeover but the views from the restaurant tasty lunch and dinners and comfortable rooms make up for this!! Definitely a wonderful stay and we would have no hesitations in returning.

Great price, very good location close to beach and 10-15 mins walk from Old town. Room was dated, bath tub really needs to be repainted or replaced. Pillows are old, very thin and firm. However, great service and amazing value for the price. Breakfast buffet was the highlight.

7 Night stay arriving 3rd November. This was the 6th occasion we have stayed at this Hotel in past 5 years. Our balcony in room 308 Block A had a restricted view of the sea. In previous years we have had really good sea views.

Facilities were good as usual although the rooms are in need of an upgrade.They are always kept very clean.
Evening entertainment varied please do away with the reptile and parrot shows.

Spent 8 nights at the Monica Isabel and found it ok. We only went B&B, and breakfast is breakfast wherever you go. The room was basic but you don't go on holiday to stay in the room, we didn't use the pool as we prefer the beach so spent most days here. Some comments are about the hiring of the beach sun lounges/umbrellas but the beach isn't part of the hotel so what do they expect... neither is the beach snack bar so why would expect to eat there for free?

If you want English tv channels then this isn't the place for you, if you want pool beach towels then this isn't the place for you, if you want Michelin star food then this isn't the place for you. But if you want a no frills holiday in a great location, in between the old town and the strip then I'd say consider this hotel. I wouldn't return to this hotel but this is because there's a big world out there and once I've been somewhere I don't go back no matter how good/bad the hotel was.

After seeing the pictures on the website, it doesn't mention that you could be put in a room quarter of a mile away from the reception and main area. Couldn't get phone service or internet. If I was with my wife I wouldn't have lasted longer than an hour.

Great hotel and a stones throw from the beach.

The apartments are really spacious and comfortable , no their not 5* but their not meant to be.
The hotel bar is a tad expansive but there are loads of local bars within 2 mins walk.

The beach nearby (Praia Azul) is absolutely stunning, and within walking distance of fishermans square in the Old Town.

All in all an absolute bargain, will definitely stay there again.

Nice beach hotel but running cheap operation

Old but well maintained building but facilities are not up to satisfaction of their guests.food outlets needs to be upgraded and kitchen brigade can make the food tastier and better presented with same ingredients if management aiming to bring up the standards of their hotel brand.
Pool and beach facilities needs urgent update, cheap operation approach should not be the company policy.
All staff looks like fed up and management team is not visible so that guest doesn't feel sure if gets quality service.
Managment needs to review policies and upgrade the service quality.

There are 2 parts to the accomodation; the hotel and apartments in block complex. I stayed in an apartment which had the basics. The apartment is close to the beach and the swimming area. The Hotel is rated 4 stars and the apartments are rated 3 stars. The entertainment area is close to the apartments. The sound is unbearably loud in the evening up until 11 pm. With small kids this is v.inconvenient. I can't imagine how the guest at the hotel coped. The sound system is literally on the ground floor of the hotel.
More serious problem is rats found on the lower parts of the apartment complex. We were lucky that our flat was on the first floor. Despite cleaning staff availability, there was overflowing bins in the swimming area; the floors around the swimming pool had kids and adults slipping and hurting themselves. The staff were aware but were helpless not to even put warning signs or advise guests. The hotel is in great location and perhaps many years ago was great place but lack of care, modernising has shameful turned it into a damp. I will not be staying there again paricularly since there are many more options and most definitely better options in around the area full of aparments and hotels.

Basic Hotel near the beach

The Hotel is a complex of different buildings set over a large area, we were in Block C, view of sea from terrace was obscured by a tree. It was a a reasonable walk to the main building for the bar and restaurant. Pool Area separate to main Hotel, smaller than anticipated. Room basic enough with aged decor and furniture, but had beds & good shower in the bath.
Steep walk back from the beach but only needed to do once a day so a bit of exercise.
Location great for beach. Restaurant nearby very nice. Bar further up the road ok.
Near enough to get to either New Town & Old Town for walk or cheap taxi.

Monica Isabel Beach Club - July 2017

I loved how the resort is right on the beach. It was a little hard to find as you have to drive down narrow roads to get to it. Almost missed entrance as the lobby sign is not very visible. Was received with a warm welcome. Was given a black and white pamphlet that provided some information about resort such as pool hours, breakfast, lunch and dinner times, and mini bus times to Old Town. It also included an area map and a map of the resort. Lastly an excursion list. I was taken to my room. My room was spacious and had an ocean view balcony. Bedroom included a full size and twin bed. There was a sofa bed in the living area. Had a sink and refrigerator with a table as well. Closet space was decent. Large bathroom. Front door had a crack in which sunlight came through. Decent room but could use a facelift. All inclusive gave me access to a large selection at breakfast, lunch and dinner. It also included snack at pool snack bar and drink at Bar Atlantico. There are water stations in different areas of resort. Pool area gets packed very quickly at 9 when it opens. At the beach they charge 10€ for 2 chairs and an umbrella. The area is absolutely gorgeous.

The location of this hotel is great. It is right on the beach and half way between the old and new town. We only stayed or 4 nights, so feel it is not fair to give full review.
Staff seemed friendly. Room was basic and almost clean. You have to hire safe, iron and hairdryer. We were out almost 80 euro before we started.
I selected bed and breakfast even though this is an all inclusive resort. The food at breakfast was awful. We didn't go back after the first day.
Because we were only there for a short period, it was ok. we never used the hotel pool as it was so busy, we spent our days at the beach which was perfect.

I stayed at Monica Isobel Beach for a long weekend with the girls recently (June 17). The accommodation was basic but clean and in my mind didn't justify a 4 * rating. On the plus side, the amenities were good and the hotel was well located with only a 10min walk into Albufeira old town.
I would not want to stay at the hotel for longer than a few days however it was adequate for a long weekend

Friendly hotel complex next to a big sandy beach

We had a wonderful week staying at the hotel. It is a large complex with the main hotel and several sections of self catering units which also have full use of the hotel facilities. We stayed on a half board basis and found the breakfast and dinner buffet excellent. The choice of food each day was huge, well prepared and tastefully presented.

The staff were very friendly and courteous at all times. The entertainment was fine, catering for both children and later in the evening for adults.

The outdoor pool has plenty of loungers but filled up quickly and was busy with children and also some water activities which would have made use of the pool limited.
However we did not stay by the pool as the sandy beach is right beside the hotel and was superb with a pleasant walk to the old town. It was not overcrowded in the least and we had the choice of hiring loungers and umbrellas or just enjoying the sandy beach.

The hotel is about 15 minutes walk along the beach to the old town. Alternatively it is possible to walk along the road to the old town. There is a small courtesy bus running from the hotel 3 times a day but we found it wasn't too punctual and on occasion there were too many people to fit in the minibus. 'The Strip' is about 20 minutes walk in the opposite direction

We had a wonderful relaxing and happy time with good, clean but a bit dated accommodation. The sea views from the balcony were breathtaking. We will definitely be back and highly recommend it.

Myself partner and 11 month old baby stayed here for a lovely 4 days. All the staff were lovely, hotel lovely too!! The pool and were perfect and not too far if you have a buggy...🙈🍼😁. A really lovely location. Rooms were fairly basic and a little outdated but clean and all you'd want for a cheaper break away. Food was okay - again, basic but what you'd expect for a cheaper holiday. Great location (only a short walk to both Old and New town). Poolside was busy from 9:30am and we struggled to get beds after 10.

Cheap hotel, you get what you pay for.
Hotel reception, shabby, uninviting, cold, drab.
Reception bar, also all of the above.
Room, Clean, spacious, nice view, double bed, full apartment facilities. needs updating.

Entertainment, dreadful. organist have seen and heard before. only has a few songs and sings them all in same key, Please stop. rest of Entertainment, Various grades of OK. One night was tribute night?? who too?? awful.
Best till last I'm afraid. Food, Not really worth the effort. certainly Breakfast and Lunch, don't bother. Evening meal, well various troughs of tepid food, don't forget to use the microwave to at least warm it up! Salad was OK but you can't really get lettuce cucumber and tomatoes wrong. The ONLY decent part was the sweet, but it's not too difficult to open packets of cake and slice them up.
Sorry not for me. Only the room was worth the trip. The rest NOT.
Glad only here for a few nights.

Excellent even in March

We loved it, close to a beautiful beach. The food was limited but always found something delicious. Out accommodation was big with an unbelievable sea view. It was good value going AI. We would go again no problem.

Nice hotel close to the beach & walk to town

Very good hospitality, changed room to better for sea view. It was my milestone birthday and management provided for this free. Staff were very friendly. Made lot of friends. Despite weather being reasonable, felt very welcome, comfortable and would return back.

great hotel complex good food plenty of amineties rooms have lots of space biggest ive stayed in
Pleasant staff.
Few swimming pools outside 1 inside pool with a gym and sauna
the complex has plenty of lifts and is layed out in diffent buildings
there are nice walks nearby
built on a hill but no too bad
all in all a good hotel

Cheap and cheerful, not 4 stars though

Stayed off season early Feb 2017, Cheap and cheerful experience with nice staff. The range of food was plentiful for breakfast and dinner, we enjoyed the food overall but some things were not that tasty. alcohoicl drinks were cheap at dinner. For the price (5 euros for breakfast, 15 euros for dinner) it was worth the money for all you can eat buffet.

Location was good, between old and new town, right on the beach. Wifi was good at reception. Rooms were dated but large and with a kitchen and balcony.

very pleasant stay.

we were pleasantly pleased with our stay at the monica isabel beach club. room was clean and comfortable and the staff had done there very best to accommodate me in an easy access room as requested. staff were always friendly and helpful and the food was very nice and plentiful. the dining room did get a bit over busy at the weekend when there were a lot of local guests and it became a bit of a bun fight with people loading plates with vast quantities of food without regard for other guests. a very nice time and excellent value for money.

Cell Block C

Arrived very late and night after a delayed flight and hotel did provide a packed lunch. Were taken to Block C which was awful. Two of the rooms were in a basement down two flights of stairs, the other rooms were dirty and damp. After phoning yourselves the manager did find alternative rooms for us, three of which were fine and the other two were not perfect but a vast improvement on the previous rooms. The standard of cleaning in the rooms was very poor, towels and toilet rolls were not replaced. The food was reasonably good but even on new year's even no entertainment was provided and bar shut at usual time. Then they closed the swimming pool which meant there was nowhere to sit in the sunshine. We were a group of 8 and managed to have a good time but would never recommend this hotel to anyone. The block we were first put into was being used as staff quarters!! A real shame this hotel is not being managed and maintained properly as it is a lovely quiet location but easily accesible to Albufeira old town by a 20 minute stroll along the beach or by hotel shuttle bus which only takes 5 minutes. Taxis were very cheap to go to main bus station where you could visit other resorts in the Algarve.

great would stay there again. only problem if you want wifi in your room they charge 5 euros for 24 hours and 30 euros deposit for the modem .over a week thats a lot of money. cannot fault anything else

overall ok experience, could be a better selection of local fruits like grapes or mangos or kaka, could be better service, more helpful and more encouraging and could be better cleaning room service, our floor was not swiped anytime only on our request they did it. I would like to have free wi-fee in our room not only in a reception area as it was not convenient for me. The quality of food could be a bit better and indoor spa centre could be more advanced otherwise was a nice experience. View from the restaurant and our room on beach and sea was great. Price was good too.

Nice Hotel shame about some of the guests

This was our 4th occasion visiting the Monica Isabel Beach Club. The location is excellent with balconies facing south towards the sea. You see the sun rise and set from your balcony. The all-inclusive facilities are excellent with a good variety of food on offer. The staffs are very friendly and helpful. The down side is some of the guests. On one occasion the there food and mess all over the floor at the pool bar an absolute disgrace. Some of the guests pile up their plates with food and leave it, what a waste. !

The hotel was dated but very clean, though it really could do with a revamp. We had fantastic views but it looked as if the tiles had not been cleaned for a long time and there was bird dropping all down the balcony so you could not lean on it.

Outdated and disgusting.

This hotel is rundown, outdated, and dirty. The room felt like I was stepping back into the 70's. The cabinet doors were falling off, non of the furniture matched, the sheets were probably 20 years old, and the room was lacking in amenities. Wi-Fi wasn't available in any of the rooms, only in the lobby area. The staff was rude. All of the food on property was greasy and tasteless. Plus, the sunbeds featured in the photographs are only available to be rented at an insane daily rate. This hotel needs to make some changes. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.
