Fantastic room at a great price. Pool was lovely.

It was a family friendly hotel, that was more than adequate for our stay. Room size was larger than expected. Food was best at the hotel's buffet, other dining options were not worth the time for us. Not enough loungers and people were \"reserving\" them every day. Outdoor pool was freezing. Evening entertainment was just okay. Area was a bit remote but walkable to beach and nightlife.

We had an adequate stay at this hotel. It is definitely not luxurious and I wouldn't class it 5 stars. A low 4 stars at best, but as long as you don't expect luxury staying there, it's fine.
Reasons for this review:
The hotel is clearly quite dated and the rooms aren't in 100% condition. EG our apartment had quite a bit of mould in the corner of the living room and bedroom walls. The curtains were very dated and the couch was very, very worn.
We did all inclusive, which gives you access to all the food across the properties in Algarve. The main hotel restaurant had an ok selection but not amazing. It was pretty clear that the staff at the restaurant did their best but they were not staffed adequately because every meal time the tables were not adequately re-set in a timely manner after diners left. Likewise the food was not replenished fast enough and often many dishes were missing for a long time before being replenished.
We visited a number of the different restaurants and only the aqua restaurant had a kids menu, which made it challenging with kids as not all the staff were very accommodating about making adaptations for the kids.
The alcohol selection for all inclusive wasn't great. Very basic and dated cocktails and the quality of the beer and wine honestly was not good.
The pool entertainment was pretty basic.
Overall this place was ok but as you can see from above it certainly wasn't luxurious.

Very nice hotel. Clean, spacious and also very quiet, which was good. The location was also good - walk distance to beach, old town and the stripe.

The meal (breakfast and dinner) was average. One thing not very happy was for arrange a taxi to Faro airport - was told by the front desk staff that they could arrange taxi with fixed price of 50euro but actually the driver charged by meter for 56euro saying never be fixed

The Hotel staff was very accomodating Their Shampoo dispenser was poor. The TV channels were very limited and several channels didn't work. There was no oven, but had a microwave. There is washing machine which was very nice. There was a lot of entertainment around the pool. Good restaurants walking distance.

A nice stay in this hotel, which was a good base to explore Albufeira and around. The property is a little bit tired, but the rooms were spacious, the beds were comfortable, the spa was functional (though closing at 6pm is a bit early) and the staff were friendly, particularly Cristiano at reception who gave us excellent local recommendations throughout our stay and was always a friendly face.

Really nice hotel in a quiet location, walkable to the Old Town, the beach and the Strip. Room was spacious, bed was comfortable, air-conditioning was welcome, shower was decent. Restaurant had a good range of dining options and all the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Loved the pool with its lunchtime barbecue and bar. We will return again next year!

We really enjoyed our stay as a couple . The outdoor pool I feel needs some repairs on the tiles as when you were in the pool you could feel broken tiles underneath your feet. We were very happy with the food and there was a good choice . We would come back again.

The Barman in the poolside bar was brilliant, was so creative with the drinks and was always making new concoctions for us to try which were delicious! Staff were all really friendly. Entertainment was poor except the quiz night was good. Hotel was ok for the 3 nights we stayed.

We really liked this Hotel. Close to walk to the beach and plenty of eateries. All inclusive options are ok, but we went for eating out instead, with the occasional meal in the hotel. The only down side is the sofa bed was terrible to sleep on; you could feel every spring. But would definately return.

It was a comfortable stay, love the location of our room as it was few steps away from the pool and the beach. Everything was in immaculate conditon in our apartment however there was probably a blockage in the bathroom drainage that gave a foul smell. Luckily enough we only spent 2 nights, however, overall stay was very good and reception were very helpful and friendly.

Bit of a let down.

Its says it a 5 star hotel. I would barely give it 3 stars. The rooms are old and dated. the beds felt old, the sofa slumped in the middle and the toilet seat was chipped. The only plus was room was a good size and it was very clean. Breakfast wasn't great. they had two counters keeping the food hot but one wasn't working so the food in that one was cold. I don't really like cold sausages and beans. Staff knew it wasn't working but made no effort to transfer the food to the working counter or to keep it warm by other means. very disappointing

Good hotel in good location

Great sized apartment rooms with fully fitted kitchens. The hotel is located in the middle of the old town and the strip so a few minutes walk and you have plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. The beach is also only 10 minutes walk away. The pool area is good and a real sun trap during the day. The hotel staff are friendly and speak a number of languages. I would definitely stay at this hotel again when visiting Albuferia

In desperate need of refurb. Cleanliness was shockingly bad, especially bathroom. Poor choice of food and quality. Although we don’t really drink, only local beer and cheap vodka / rum within all-inclusive so stay away from it if you do like your evening drink.
Swimming pool (both indoor and outdoor) not the most welcoming place ever, but relatively good gym if you choose to use it.
Also packed breakfast only and no lunch on last day as they were closing the hotel, despite having some gusts?!?
Within positives, all team very friendly and helpful.

Room couldn’t fault at all. Spa was really good on the days that weren’t as sunny. Food was really tasty and good although the last day I asked for a coke from the back and it came with a cluster of ants which was off putting . Little things such as waiting for a drink at the bar when being the only person as the bar as no one was behind the bar, the pool bar not being open till 12 so not being able to get a drink from breakfast shutting to 12 was a bit of a pain. Some of the staff were very friendly others looked like they didn’t want to be there. Overall good stay but things to improve on .

Spacious room. Pool area was nice. Great location, short walk to old town, new strip or beach. Staff at reception were exceptional. Fridge in room came in handy for drinks. Only downside was daily housekeeping was just to change the towels. Sheets weren’t changed for a whole week and room didn’t get a dust or sweep in a whole week, so flood got quite grubby.

Disappointing on so many levels

Wifi in the room was virtually non existent.
We were booked from Friday to Monday and despite being out of the room for most of the day on Saturday, our room had not been cleaned by 5:30 pm when we got back. Then we were told that the rooms are not cleaned on Sundays so our room did not get cleaned at all during our stay.

We all loved the spa and gym, however the hot tub wasn't hot at all. Hotel staff are very friendly. Fresh towels were provided daily, but anything like a shower cap etc wasn't replenished. The hotel is in an ideal location as only 10 minute walk to the beach and strip and 15 mins walk to Old Town. Lots of places to eat nearby. Evening buffet at the hotel is reasonable at €18 but food choice was limited.
My only criticism is that there was no drinking water provided upon arrival and as our flight was a late one all supermarkets were closed when we arrived at the hotel. There is a vending machine at the hotel with water but we had no change neither did reception so that wasn't at all helpful to us. But we had a lovely stay at Forte Do Vale!

I really cant fault this hotel, everything exceeded our expectations. If a have a tiny complaint its the fact that the room safe cost 2.80 euro a night to rent, I think it should be like wifi, free of charge. To be fair the manager said they would look into this fee. Everything else was superb, I didnt try the food however as there are so many dining options nearby. Lovely hotel, you wont be dissapointed !

Outstanding. Beautiful hotel. Excellent location, 5 mins walk to beach, 10 mins to the strip, 10 mins to large shopping center and supermarket and mcds and kfc. Moped hire near mcds, highly recommend it. Hotel very clean and defentiley 5 star. We had one bedroom junior suite, highly recommend it, overlooking pool with sea view in distance. Beautiful decor. Very clean and spacious. Extras including iron, hairdryer, washing machine and dishwasher. Very quiet. Clean towels arrived everyday. Staff extremely friendly. Games room such fun. Didn’t use spa facilities but looked good. Breakfast all you can eat 7.50 euros. Mini supermarket 2 minutes at the side with a lovely restaurant next to that that you get 3 course for 9.50. Land train stops right outside to take you around albuferia. Albufeira is a beautiful place. This hotel is highly situated to enjoy both the peace and quiet and the bars and clubs if needed. Beaches out of this world.

The Hotel was in a good position to get to Albufeira old town, but the hotel itself was very cold as well as the apartment we stayed in.
We where all inclusive for x2 nights for the first time & to be quite honest it did not live up to my expectations.
The first night the food was very ordinary & all together not very good , we where so disappointed that we ate out on the 2nd night.
The breakfast was quite good but the restaurant was not very big & sometimes you have to wait to be seated.
The bar area was not very big also & again seating was a problem.
A very disappointing stay .

If you get the right room you will be fine, but sadly a Studio room with a large partition wall splitting it in half is not a one bedroomed apartment. As we were only staying for a week we let it go, but it is not acceptable as a rule to advertise the above.

But to be honest we will not be returning to Albufeira it is simply boring especially the New Town which is to be avoided like the plague. It is a pit to be quite candid. Unless you are out to get hammered on drink and don't mind countless hen and stag parties. Then it will be heaven. But for families? AVOID!

Hotel is clean and tidy. Apartments are a good size with everything you need in there. Our room was above the entrance which made for a very noisy experience. People waiting on coach pick ups our out having a cigarette meant the noise travelled straight up to our room. Likewise the noise coming from the bar. The entrance foyer design enhances the noise which isn’t ideal. Hotel would be better if it was adults only. The noise of screaming kids in the entrance/hallways would put me off returning. The Spa is adequate but they insist you wear a swimming cap in the pool / jacuzzi. These can be purchased at the reception, but given that it was empty most of the time suggests that no one fancied the idea of wearing one. I certainly didn’t. Hotel is rated 5 star. I’d say it’s more like a 4 at best. Very clean, lovely entrance area. Rooms could benefit from modernisation.

Great location for Old and New towns.

Excellent hotel which provided easy access to both the Old and New Towns. Little Puffer Train available beside hotel if the hill down to Old Town becomes too much of a trek. Not so good coming back as have to go the whole route to get home! We like a good walk here there and everywhere so didn’t mind. Probably 5 mins to New Town and 10 mins to a Old Town. Room was lovely and spacious with super comfortable beds. Air con and wi-fi facilities absolutely fantastic. Best we’ve ever experienced on holiday. Highly recommend this hotel and we’d definitely consider staying there if we were to return to Albufeira.

An okay place

Main positives is the hotel has very large rooms, good location and good facilities. Negatives are that room was not made up by housekeeping on one day, they charge 2.6 euros per day for the in room safe ( without mentioning this in their profile) which is cheesy and really not appropriate behaviour for a 4 star hotel. Finally the tv did not work. All in all a reasonable stay but certainly nothing special.

Could be great Hotel as well layed out but outdoor pool not heated and indoor pool very poor. Jets and flume not working and algae on edging. Jaczzui has very funny smell. Promised free bus between other MGM hotels and old town not running and reception don’t know when it will! The actual bus is outside in car park. Not all rooms
/apartments have balconies. First one we were offered didn’t but we were reallocated to one that did. Hotel does AI but we were pleased we were self catering as restaurant had little atmosphere but might be better in busy season. Nice restaurants close and in old town. Our favourite was Stews + More about 3 minutes walk from hotel, run by young couple Nano and Natalie. Excellent food well priced and fabulous service.

This is our second time staying here and we enjoyed it just at much this time . The reception staff are absolutely excellent and nothing is too much trouble for them . The bar staff are however not as good and are a little slow. The hotel is in a perfect location and is spotlessly clean

A fair walk to the old town but courtesy bus available every hour if required. We were there on a b&b basis, so didn't eat in the hotel, there are restaurants and cafes nearby or in the old town. Hotel was clean, room comfortable, although not 5*. Would stay again.

Definately not a 5*.....no luxuries, food ledt under the pool cabana cushions. I liked the pool but the music is too loud & annoying every day playing till 6 pm.the pool area was lightly cleaned daily but needs a lot more attention. Appartments the same, not cleaned regularly. Our TV table was dusty & had sun cream smears all over it for the whole 10 days. Towells are very old & grey, and i called 3 times in the 10days to have them replenished. All inclusive is very basic. staff are great the hotel is ok just needs some extra staff to bring it up to scratch & add some little luxuries. It is bearable but not 5 star.

The rooms was very big and comfortable. The kitchen is wonderful if doing self catering.
Hotel food was pleasant. It was different food every day.
But the room cleaning was not upto standard of 5 star hotel.
It was a lovely experience. Close to beach.

Excellent apartment, great location

Read all the reviews before booking & set expectations accordingly - massively better than expected, thank you MGM.

Firstly; it's primarily an apartment hotel - room(s) are large, very well accommodated, & clean. Kitchen has everything you need (including a washing machine which proved a godsend). We have 2 teenagers, so space & excellent wifi (yes, excellent free wifi) is a must.

Secondly; facilities are excellent - it offers brilliant gym/spa, games room, & great pool(s). Staff are very helpful and attentive. Quick tip - read some bad reviews on all inclusive - would not recommend all in (but you have an apartment so why anyway & good restaurants with in 200m), however breakfast is great: exactly what you would get in most 4 + star hotels - a no nonsense hot and cold buffet with cereals/breads/fruit + hot bacon/sausage/scrambled eggs/tomato/beans/hash browns. Kept under hot lamps, so as usual, get there early for piping hot, but even a late arrival is still warm and tasty.

Thirdly; location is perfect - the 'Strip' is about 400m east (bars/nightlife), old town 800m west (cafes/restaurants), beach 500m due south (take the opportunity to visit both the main beach & the one ajoining to east round the headland - quieter and great cafe/bar).

Great holiday, thoroughly recommend.

Nice looking and clean hotel

The hotel was nice looking inside and clean throughout. the bars served a good range of drinks and the restaurant food was nice although there wasn't a large range of food. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our sta. The rooms were huge and very well kept with plenty of storage. the hotel is in and excellent location close to the beach (although it does have a big swimming pool), the tourist train stop is across the road and old town is about a 10/15 min walk.

Happy Days

Have been visiting FDV anything up to 4 times a year for about 10 years now. Staff tell us we were part of 'the family'. We only ever take room as there are far too many good eating places withing easy walking distance or a short taxi ride (very cheap) of FDV. Facilities are excellent although rooms are now becoming just a wee bit shabby particularly fold down couch/bed and bathroom grouting but everything else is kept spotless and beds changed every other day and rooms thoroughly cleaned. Outdoor pool area could do with a bit more cleaning too first thing in the morning before it opens as there is often debris left behind by thoughless guests from the day before. Overall I would thoroughly recommend the FDV and will be back again and again.

Good choice ,maybe it is not 5 * but they are good,big appartment,nice swimming pool.The breakfast was quite basic,I ate better in 4 * hotel.Very good location,easy to acces everything.I will come recomand to others.

Lovely Hotel

Check in was easy, hotel beautiful very nice pool area, strange & disappointing thing was there was a kettle & cups in the room but no tea coffee or milk to make a drink with, reception didn't have sachets or couldn't sell me any, a shame for 50p worth of sachets for a 5 star hotel, The pool bar is also very expensive €7 for koperberg cider in a plastic cup, old town is a good 30 minutes walk away also.

Good gym (they charge you though) apartments were good with washing machine and fridge freezer. Pool area decent. Food rubbish - I definitely wouldn't advise all inclusive. Kids club limited and not really used

Not 5 star!More like 2 smell from sewage very bad.

Arrived at 11pm. No mini bar so had to go to shops for cool drinks. Breakfast poor. Staff lovely and clean hotel. Rooms dated. I never would say this is 5 star. Very disappointed.

The hotel didn't have a reservation for me so I had to wait sometime to check-in. It was eventually resolved after being told a number of times to wait longer with no indication of how long, but I was kindly offered a room upgrade. The hotel itself is somewhat tired and not especially clean, good gym equipment available however grubby and not well maintained. The staff were friendly but seemed super busy therefore everything felt troublesome. The hotel seems to be trying to live up to its 5stars , but there is some attention to detail, deep cleaning and 5star customer service, unfortunately it is far from this.

Overall a good apart/hotel

Pros:
Good location, with the mini train stop 50 metres away. Apartments are spacious and well equipped. Good pool.
Didn't go all inclusive as the restaurants close to the hotel were good and cheap

Cons: There is obviously a drainage problem near the hotel with a strong smell. Limited number of sun beds with most having towels on them with no one there. Pool bar doesn't open until noon so no drinks coffee etc until then.
No tea cloth for the dishes

A Quiet holiday.

Really good hotel away from busy/noisy areas of the town. Beach only a steady ten minute walk away. Hotel food was excellent. Restaurants within a 5 to 15 minute walk. Recommend Donaldo's,amazing portuguese food and a very entertaining doorman.(George).Will be happy to make a return visit in the future.

nice Hotel. shame about the transfer bus was not running. Ok to walk down to the old town but a big hill on the way back so had to get a taxi back at €4 ago that is why they have a bus to take you to the town? .loved the room as big and we'll equipped. wanted to get towels for the pool was charged €10 this isn't a deposit like normal 5 star hotels strange. so costs me €30. WiFi was good and was free in all areas.
