Property looked great online, unfortunately this is not the case.
Beds and mattresses needs renewed, kitchen is in poor state, bathroom is ok just extremely small. One staff member on at a time, that doesn't do much. Cleaning is definitely not a strong point. Well never be back. Also hidden deposit required upon check in, yes you get it back but it was a surprise

Stay away!! We couldn't get a room we payed for or any other so at 11pm we had to go to other hotel. Next day we got the studio, but not what we booked. Dirty,moldy, smells horrible, full of bugs on beds, dump. I have photos if anyone need, I'll send. I never saw such a bad accomodation ever.

The hallways were barely lit so as 2 female travelers, it was a bit spooky to walk around the premises. In addition, the front desk was not very helpful and straightforward unless pressed in respect to our inquiries. The room itself was okay. Would only consider staying again for the price point.

At £20 a night, for two, being right in the centre of the old town, you cannot complain. The beds are lumpy, the apartment is a bit grotty, but it's OK for say, 10 days. The staff are nice, but oddly, hardly ever there, even in the posted time periods they are supposed to attend. It may be worse in the winter season, but a lot of people simply cannot get in to check in, even if they arrive in the 'staffed' periods of 12noon to 8pm. If you miss the opening times, or if the staff have gone away (normal) you will not get in, booking or not. The staff are however friendly but mostly unable to deal with problems - like missing kit in the rooms, broken showers, broken room entry doors, broken showers etc. We hit lucky compared with 2-3 people who also stayed but had many issues.

As for the €100 breakage deposit, as far as I can tell, this seems to be a \"holding payment\" that expires on its own, so there is no \"return of deposit\". In any case you'd be insane to not use a credit card (which gives a lot of protection).

The building is obviously being \"camped in\" by the owners, hoping to make a capital return on a future sale, or maybe looking to get a deal to sell - this may be why the apartments are so obviously under-invested and run on a show-string.

On the other hand, we were OK for only €20 per night, as we were there partly for appointments, and it was only partly a holiday.

We were in room 21 it was very dated & only fit for 2 people Not 3, just too small for 3, kitchen was in a coboard , no balcony to dry clothes, our towels were not changed. On the plus side we had air conditioning, bathroom &bins were cleaned & emptyed every day, and best of all was the location

The roof terrace was the best bit, although we didn't use it as we went out! The whole place needs an overhaul. There were not enough powerpoints in the kitchen area and chairs were dodgy. The location was noisy, beside a steep road out of Albufeira used by motorbikes and heavy vehicles. Cleaning staff never appeared until late in the afternoon when we were wanting to rest. Reception staff gave different stories about returning our deposit. We have been to Portugal several times and this is the least favourite. Least favourite anywhere come to that.

Arranged late arrival in advance by email and telephone as reception shuts at midnight. Arrived at 12.20am to closed hotel. Rang numbers by door and a chap said he would be there in ten minutes. Nobody came. Rang again and stood there nearly an hour until he arrived and let me in. As a lady travelling alone it wasn’t ideal.
Other than that, fabulous location. Basic but clean base for a budget holiday.

located in the middle of everything in old town area . room was ok living area consisted of table and chairs single bed kitchen area hotplate microwave toaster kettle and utensils . no corkscrew tho . also satellite tv aircon and wifi . all free . separate shower room shower unit sink and loo . had a separate bedroom with another two single beds wardrobe cupboard/storage area with safe inside .the hotel has the benefit of lifts to the rooms . up from the 3rd floor has a bar area with veranda you can have coffee tea bottled beers dosent serve food tho . has pool on roof . January not open . takes 45 mins in taxi to get there .26-29th jan weather 19c day 12c night very surprised at how mild it was . personally found beds comfy . fridge had a wobbly foot . please don't expect the ritz .but excellent value for money £21 a night for room in the heart of everything had a great 3 nigt mini break

Fabulous location for the old Town

First of all the reception staff Ellie and Paul are lovely. Helped me with every query that I had.
The Pool had an umbrella in it and wasn’t to a standard I wanted to swim in. After a chat with one reception Guy I got it’s not my job I then told him it’s not mine either and that I would contact Expedia. Next day I mentioned it to Paul and by the Afternoon it had be dealt with.
Pool is small but was enough for us. Rooftop is great for sunbathing and relaxing.
Rooms are clean and basic but you get what you pay for. When we wanted anything ie toilet rolls towels bins changed we just asked at reception and it was always dealt with.
You get what you pay for and I felt that it was worth the money.
I would say it could do with updating but hey you are staying in the Old Town.
Restaurants are about a 5 minute walk also there is a Spar supermarket.

Travelled as a young couple. Heart of everything. Extremely close to beach and square full of shops, bars and restaurants. Rooms dated but suited our stay for the price. Rooms could have been cleaned more regularly but we spent most of our time in the square and on the beach. Balcony was a bonus. No frills but couldn't complain. Staff very friendly also.

Don't deserve their staff

They don't have staff to do the daily room service but they get paid for it. Not a single day in a whole week we had room service. Even the garbage we had to find a solution with the reception.

Very basic, but clean, and comfortable albeit the beds creaked every time you moved in them. Perfect location off the old town square. Close enough to the heart of it but far enough for a quiet nights sleep. Rooftop terrace, bar and pool is an added bonus. Very very good value for money.

Ok for the price, but don't expect too much

We arrived for a short 3 night stay, but was told there was no room for us until the next day so we needed to stay at another hotel for the night then come back in the morning.
The staff were very helpful in both hotels but it wasn't ideal as we had to spend double the time checking in to two hotels.
When we finally got our room is was ok but very tired and the bathroom was so small if you were a bigger person this would have been an issue getting in and out of shower. Also the bed wasn't very comfortable.
Staff were really nice but I wouldn't stay again.

Amazing stay in an AMAZING location!

Stayed here for almost a week and we ABSOLUTELY LOVED it!!! The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. They are all smiles. The bar area is quaint. The outside patio is beautiful. The rooftop pool was great in the sun ! We also loved the 1 euro coffee in the morning! . Thank you so much !

After pre booking a time of arrival with regina when we got to the hotel we were told there was no room left as the guy on the reception thought we weren't turning up, so I can only imagine he gave our room away.

We were since then moved to hotel da gale that evening, the reason we booked with Regina was purely for the kitchen in our room so that we were able to save money by cooking and the room in hotel da gale did not have this so we ended up spending a fortune in meals out for lunch and dinner, we also had a strong smell of sewage in our room and when asked to move rooms we were told that would not be possible. The room smell was that bad we could not use the bathroom and therefore had to use these facilities elsewhere.

Half way through our stay at hotel da gale we were basically told to leave because our stay was apparantly up after 3 days (although our holiday was booked for the 7 days) and while all this was going on as the person behind the reception desk at that time was having none of it we were then made late for our golf tee off time that day.

I'm extremely upset how we were treated for the whole of our trip, a holiday that should have been a relaxing break rather than what it turned out to be.

I have since then emailed Regina with no reply.

Room that we PAID for didn't exist!

PAID Expedia in advance the supplement for a 2 bedroom room only to discover on arrival that the room didn't exist! We were originally given a studio apartment, followed by a small one bed and then a slightly larger one bed! Expedia having taken my money have refused to refund the money we paid for the supplement, offering only a credit that has to be spent with them within 12 months! WHY?

Perfect location literally right beside old town

Regina Apartments were fine for me, you get what you pay for, cleaned every day, great shower bed okay, location perfect, I would go back because you are right in the centre of the old town. Food lovely no matter where we went, great experience for us and it wasn't our first time in albufrira. I personally would highly recommend a day trip with safari jeep, brilliant experience from start to finish and Hugo our guide was great. Thank you albufeira we will be back

Good value for money

The hotel itself is old and as soon as I entered I felt the smell of dump. I am allergic so it was a bad sign for me. But it didn't trigger my allergy. The room was a good size and clean. Everything was old but in a good condition. The reception is in the 3rd floor and during the week is just open during the afternoon. The girls in the reception were great and super friendly. The location is great and having a parking is also a plus!
During the night the noise from drunk people coming is is quite loud. Feels like they are inside the room. And when my kids were crying inside the room with the door closed you could hear it from the main door.

Beside that we had a great time there and I recommend for people with low standards and who wants to not pay much. You get what you've paid.

What amazing value for money. Everything was incredible except for the fact that the Wifi was limited to reception only which was a pain. A few more routers / boosters would hardly break the bank but this was the only fault. Nice desk and well equipped little kitchen. Reception and cleaning staff were all super friendly. .

Never made it past checkin

Despite dropping my bags off two hours prior, at checkin I was advise there was no room available as there had been an incident with a pipe(?).

Travelling with my nine year old son for a short trip I had no option other than to accept the alterative offered by the management. I was advised that hotel was a better option anyway.

If that is true, I cannot imagine what this hotel must have been like.

I was disgusted when we arrived after emails being sent phone calls made to the apartments we still never got our balcony s the reason we went was for my father's 80th birthday we like sitting outside enjoying a talk and a wine sadly we tried not to let it spoil our holiday it is very basic apartments kettles ,toasters,irons and hairdryers all wired to the walls staff done the best they could and the director but still put a dampener on what should of been a family holiday.

Great location for Albufeira Old town

The hotel has a number of issues, but overall I would go back there. Firstly the bad points: - light bulbs were missing from some of the lamps. I asked for bulbs but only some were available. I was promised this would be fixed but didn't happen. The sealant around the bath is in serious need of replacing. Although clean it still had black mould spots (this didn't bother me but might some of you). The pool on the roof is very small and no good for swimming. The paint is in need of replacing and there was some bits of leaves floating on the top which didn't inspire confidence. Also there was an area on the side of the pool that the sea gulls had used as a toilet. I'm not sure if the pool is neglected because no one uses it, or does no one use it because it is neglected??? The Good Points: - Location is fantastic for access to the Old Town of Albufeira and the beach. The town is on the doorstep and the beach a few minute walk. Staff are friendly. There is a pleasant bar area with a roof terrace where you can get WiFi free. I didn't expect a fridge, kettle, microwave and sink. There should also be a supply of crockery and cutlery but most of that was missing. Plenty of towels. Secure free car parking. My description makes it sound bad but criticism needs to be taken in context. The place was plenty big enough, beds were comfortable (and made up daily), clean and all this for 17 euros a night.

I will give a review after I get back the 20 euros deposit I gave them for the use of 2 remote controls for our room. ( TV & air conditioner) The manager didn't give me a receipt for the deposit & the last day when I turned the remotes in they didn't believe me that I gave them the deposit money. Other than this it was a pleasant stay. I would never recommend this place unless I get my money back.

The room couldn't have been more basic, but what an amazing location, 250 mts from beach, no more than five minutes to all shops, stalls, bars and restaurants. People in Albufeira are so friendly and made our stay memorable. The rooms have no luxury whatsoever, beds creek every time you blink, but for a place to sleep couldn't be better. Went with my teenage daughters (17 and 18) and they loved it. I'm saying i'd recommend it, but only to people who don't need luxury.

Very disappointing, nothing like the pictures!

Arrived at 9am no one answered the door. Knocked for 20 minutes - no staff came. Eventually let in by someone staying there. Instantly when we walked in we knew it wasn't going to meet our expectations. It was dingy dark, stale smelling and in diar need of modernisation.
The apartment we were given was dusty and grimey. The hobs in the kitchen (the \"kitchen\" was a cupboard!!) hadn't been cleaned and were stained. The toaster and kettle were wired to the wall and the wires were burnt - such a safety hazard!
The floor had chunks missing out of it which was dangerous.
There was mould in the tiny bathroom - which didn't have a tub as described.
Lots of basic things were missing - glasses, cups, cooking utensils, hairdryer, coat hangers.
After complaining we were moved to a different room which was better - it had glasses and a hairdryer and the bathroom was newer with a tub.
The biggest disappointment was the pool area. It looked nothing like the pictures. The pool didn't even have steps to get in, they were broken and abandoned on the side. No one ever collected people's empty bottles and cans so the blew all over the place. I questioned why it didn't look as advertised and was told \"the pictures were when it was new.\" This must have been 20+ years ago.
They only changed towels once in the week we were there! Never changed bedding and didn't clean anything just emptied the bins.
The pictures on this site are not what it looks like now. Beware!

The best thing about this hotel is the location. Right in the heart of the old town Albufeira. 3 minutes walk to the tourist center and 5 minutes from the beach. A very good restaurant in downstairs in the same building. The judgement should be made in the context. This is a 3 star hotel and if somebody expects a 5 star hotel, than he should get and pay for a 5 star hotel. We enjoyed the view from our balcony and when we walked out, we were right in the middle of busy tourist happening.

This hotel is dirty and run down with broken down furniture and kitchen equipment. You have to enter through a garage it smells mouldy. The reception is on the third floor, if the lift is working.We only stayed long enough to check out again.

On arrival after 9 p.m. myself and another couple were told we had to go to another hotel due to a burst pipe (hotel speak for overbooked) for first two nights. When I returned to hotel the air-con in my room did not work. Reported this to staff but nothing was done. Had to sleep with windows wide open resulting in being eaten alive by insects and woken frequently by noise from outside. On the upside location for the Old Town is excellent

air conditioning wasn't working and receptionist said it wouldnt be fixed.Room was very basic -wardrobe doors couldn't be opened and we were provided with 1 hand towel .We didnt use the kitchen but the furniture was pointed and we constantly bumped into sharp ends of beds etc .Noise levels were ridiculous and every time somebody came in the main door we were awoken .We asked for a change of room twice and on both occasions we were offered the same room without air conditioning.I would never stay here again nor would I recommend it .

We leave of this hotel with a very good opinion about the quality of the service and about the apartments. The girl of the reception was very helpful. We call to the reception to inform that we were late and she say to us that was ok and stayed on the reception until we arrived (01 AM). We want to thank her for everything. The apartment was clean and tidy and large enough for us! The location was the best thing in here because the restaurants and the souvenir stores was very close of this hotel. This was good because we didn't need to use the car one single time!

Is the second time we came to albufeira and stay on this hotel !! The location is the best because is on city center, so we don't need to use a taxi or bus to go to albufeira or to the beach!! Shouldn't even be available to book

Where do I start.please read the terrible reviews and take notice . Do not book. The entrance to the regina was enough to send us packing .but we thought we would give it a chance.after being shown 3 rooms we selected \"The best\" !! Well .the window was off hinges,the curtains were off rail the ceiling looked like. It was going to drop at any minute.the electrics were a disaster . The toilet had to be reported as wouldn't flush then wouldn't stop ! . There was 1 cup. No kettle and a camp stove .fridge I have to say was clean as were the sheets .the pool was clean but small but only 3 sun beds however don't think you would want to sit there the surroundings made you want to leave..the location was great though amongst everything...we suffered one night then ran ..I really think tour opperators should not be offering this accommodation..

Expected !!!

Stayed here for one night. On arrival we waiting for 20 mins at door ringing bell with no answer eventually a person carrying out maintenance work granted is access. The reception was very friendly and greeted us wel. However other staff which we met in the hotel were not so . Nothing great to say about this place only for its location is central. Damp musty smell, dirty and dated interior. Could do with being freshened up.. Not a suitable place for more then one night. Ok for person planning to spend little time as possible n the room.

Cheap but not very cheerful

It was a very cheap apartment. But when you're paying about £20 a night for an apartment (bedroom, lounge + kitchenette, bathroom) you get what you pay for. It wasn't very clean, felt very shabby and a fair chunk of the equipment in the apartment didn't work.

However, the location was amazing for Old Town and the beach.

If you just want somewhere to dump your bags and sleep, and you can get a good deal on price, then this could be value for money. However, if you were being offered a price comparable to other hotels, or wanted more than just a bed, the i would not recommend this hotel to you.

great central location great value brilliant staff

we arrived at 1.30 am the reception closes at midnight they gave us a number to text on arrival at the airport and the airport the receptionist stayed on and was there to greet us ,really helpful friendly staff our room was was large and really clean with all mod cons and huge double balcony
The hotel location was very central beside the main square in the old town and close to the beach
When we left for the airport we forgot our boarding passes in the room Ryan air wanted €140 to replace them a phone call to the hotel had the staff searching the rubbish to find the passes and faxed them to us at the airport ,they could not have been more helpful

Read other people's comments and I was worried but took the chance and I was glad I did. Well the toilets and old and the kitchen is so so but the studio was so huge I couldn't believe it.

Great Hotel

As soon as we got there the staff were on hand, very welcoming and friendly. Altough we had our doubts about the hotel after reading some bad reviews from other previous guest we took our chances and went for it and it was the best decision made. They have definitley took into account bad reviews and made things better, we will definitely go back there again :)

My Short stary at Regina Apartments

Location wise the hotel is great, just minutes from the beach and only steps down to beach to contend with. Very close to the old sqaure where most of the restaurants and night life are located. You had the close proximity of these without the noise level effecting your sleep. Bar from one night when other guests were arriving home in the early hours of the morning. The most disappointing part was the decor of the apartments. Bathroom was very old and not very appealing but have to say the shower pressure was very good. The kitchenette had on socket for the cooker, kettle, toaster and extractor fan. All the equipment was \"tied down\". Bit of a nightmare trying to cook anything in the room, so we didnt. The boards on the bed base were broken which made the bed very uncomfortable to sleep in. On the night we arrived on entering the aparment there was a very musty smell. The hotel did move us when we requested to another room and this was better but the decor very dated.

The staff in the hotel were very friendly and helpful. Would I stay here again? Not unless it was redeorated. The quality in this day and age just not acceptable.

Nasty!

Was a cheap one night stop off. Would not book again. Great location very central, right in Albufeira old town. Good parking, secure. Bed sheets were clean but everything felt grubby. Stayed in room 3. We were shown to the room and then left on our own. Front door was open all night. Got the impression no-one (including any staff) were there. Room BASIC and ugly, felt like a doss house. Every appliance secured to something non moveable with a wire. One blanket no heating (3 of us?)- it was January and we froze. Bathroom an eyesore, toilet seat did not even fit, brown water came out of the hot tap, did not want to even try to have a shower. Kitchenette arrgh!!! (we just closed the doors and tried to ignore it.). Wifi was not offered. Would not recommend, would not stay again.Better deals available even at the cheap price offered. Not even backpacker standard.

i stayed here for one night and checked out, location ok for old town. very noisy at night could not sleep, very dirty rooms very small no balcony, bathroom dirty and door banged off the toilet pot!! dampness smell in room. kitchen opened up into a wardrobe. would not recommend this not anyone. i am not a fussy person have stayed in many hostels and this was just not nice!!

Basic but good location

Definitely a budget hotel. I would not rate it 3 stars. Good price in a great location. Convenient car park. Rooms are dated but for the price you can't expect too much. Kitchen was a closet with basic amenities. Bathroom in much need of updating - water stains. Good basic hotel for someone looking for a place to sleep in a great location and cooking facilities.

Avoid like the plague!

No one in reception to let me in when I arrived, so had to find another hotel for the night! Appartment turned out to be a 1 suite instead of the 3 suite I booked!
The whole complex was in very bad condition, everything seemed to be either faulty or dirty!
Staff were very unhelpful and unsympathetic to complaints and hardly ever answered door or phones etc!
-3 star more like, avoid like the plague!

The hotel s reception does not work long hours, upon arrival (8 pm), we had to ring 5 different numbers several times until somebody picked up. We then had to wait 20 minutes for this person to come and check us in. The room was dirty, the white shower curtains were absolutely disgusting, with damp patches, no room service. If the hotel rating is 3 stars, I wonder what 1 star is in Portugal. The location was good though.

DO NOT BOOK WITH REGINA APARTMENTS

First, Regina Apartments is NOT in Faro, its in Albufeira about 20 KM away. We wasted a couple hours driving to Faro and searching for the place before we discovered this misrepresentation.
Second, it was a bait and switch. We had booked two apartments for three nights at $300 per night, when we arrived the apartments weren't available, they gave us some BS and said that instead they had rooms in another hotel across town. The other hotel was a filthy flophouse in a slummy area without AC or any other amenities. It was late and we had no other options, so we spent one night then escaped.
Third, even though we stayed in a dirty room, in a different city, we were still charged the $300 for the apartment.
Fourth, it was over 100 degrees, so we had to keep the window open, the hotel was on a busy street, the traffic, the barking dogs, the large (and obscene) music bombarded us all night.
At best, this place is dramatically over priced, at worst its a scam. STAY AWAY.
