An okay hotel for the price paid, really well located for everything. I like that they take a deposit and be clear to guests about noise and disruption - it was very quiet at night which isn't often the case with Albufeira hotels. Good roof terraces and pool.

Disliked - reception (AM) taking really, really long to do check in process -passport/tax/give you room info. They talked between themselves and gave the impression you were inconveniencing them by arriving on an early flight. The only option to leave bags was for them to be left openly in reception area which is common, but really not great.

A lack of recycling bins in room/hotel.

We booked through hotels.com,a 4 night stay at this hotel.
On arrival, we were informed that our room was in the \"heritage\" part of the hotel. After 1 night we requested to change rooms due to the very strong and noxious smell of cleaning substance, used, we suspect to mask the smell of something else.
The receptionist was annoyed by our request, because the cleaners had finished for the day, and that she would not be able to\"let the room\"
We eventually were offered another room, above the one we were in, but declined as it was worse than what we had.
We requested a room in the newer part of the hotel, but were informed that these were for Jet2 customers only.
This hotel is an absolute disgrace, in its appearance and deception, and it's attitude to hotels.com customers.
I would like a full refund, but I don't think I am going to get anything after this review.

Hotel rooms and bathrooms are very dated. Unpleasant odours filled the room and corridors almost daily (I guess from the drains). No kettle, hairdryer or iron in the room although are available from reception. Very noisy with it being a popular location for cheap and cheerful stags and hens, which makes for an uncomfortable nights sleep with people knocking on doors all night long. Reception only give one key per room which causes problems with drunk people going back to the room at different times

We booked hotel for 1 night on Friday 28th march. The room was clean but had no hairdryer which I thought there should have been. We were in room 505 which I think is the last room in the hotel. When we went to bed there was a noise like a generator in the balcony which came on for about 15 mins then went off for about 5 mins. It was impossible to sleep. We put up with this until 2am when we decided we would have to let reception know as we could not sleep with the noise. The receptionist said they would come up to the room to check this but they didn’t. We then packed our stuff and went to reception to be told that the receptionist was new. By this time we were tired and fed up. We decided to leave as there was no attempt to either fix the problem or move us to another room. Reception took a note of our details but we have yet to hear from them. Really not happy with the service.

The rooms are dated with improvement needed in the bathrooms but spacious with Air conditioning. The hotel also provides a good happy hour offer during the late afternoon.

I would not stay here. We booked 3 nights and left after 1. We had ants in our room and were promised on site parking. Parking was a mile away. The pictures of the room were nice, however, the rooms were not as photographed. Old, outdated, uncomfortable, and dirty. We did not receive any refund for our 2 nights we did not stay due to the staff not being cooperative. For the price point - stay any where else.

If you’re looking for a hostel looking hotel this is the one. The first room I was given was not at all what was advertised, there wasn’t even any room to open my suitcase. When we spoke to the hotel they moved us the next day to a new room, which they failed to tell us had just been freshly painted. We had to live in a room that smelled like toxic paint, what customer service. Don’t let the cheap price fool you, not worth it.

This is a terrible property, it had a bad odour throughout it, if your 20 and want to party all night and don’t care about your room or what your sleeping in, this is your place… at 3am we had someone urinating in the hallway, we left the hotel after one night , they still charged us for 3 and said we have 200’young people here doing whatever they want… avoid if your looking for anything otherwise its disgusting, paper thin wall, mold in bathrooms

Hotel is in a brilliant location, less than 5 minute walk into the old town, to shops restaurants pubs and the beach! Rooms with pool/sea view are quite noisy at night time. Majority of staff are lovely and very helpful, one lady at reception (blonde short hair) was very rude, no people skills, wasn’t approachable and not helpful at all!! Hated seeing her whilst passing reception. Everyone else is lovely though

Room was too small for 2 people - we were tripping over each other to try to pass each other within the room. In addition, free wifi was offered but the wifi did not reach our room which was frustrating. Mirror in the bathroom was disgusting dirty/stained with dirt - it should honestly be replaced. Front desk staff was super nice and helpful. The location was perfect and would consider staying there again for this reason alone.

Staff were really lovely, had a leak one morning and it was sorted within an hour, offered a new room but it was fixed so felt no need.
Only downside is the church bells that start from 8am so it’s hard to lie in, and also the doors aren’t very insulated so you hear everything going on in the corridor/when the cleaners clean the rooms in the morning on the same level.
I paid for breakfast and couldn’t eat anything as I’m vegan but I had lots of coffee which I’m happy with. They did tell me if I mentioned it prior they would have gotten me food which is nice of them - I booked last minute (day before) so it didn’t bother me at all. There’s places close by that cater.
Location is great, super close to the beach and the bars and restaurants. Pool gets sun all day. Overall really happy with my stay

Room at first seemed clean but towards the end there was an ant invasion that was on the balcony, i explained to the maid and on arrival back in room i found the ant invasion had moved into the room itself, as it was my last night and i had arrived back to the room late after the maid had finished her duties i put up with the ants running around the room walls and across the threshold of the bathroombut it was not nice dodging aroung them , unfortunately it spoilt my stay at the hotel.

We absolutely loved our stay!

I was slightly worried before we arrived. We booked our trip last minute and this was the only hotel available at a reasonable price. The reviews weren’t great but the photos looked nice so decided to take a chance.

I’m so glad we did and we were so pleasantly surprised. The hotel was spotless as was our room. Check in wasn’t until 3 but our room was ready before 1 which was great after an early flight. We were on the same level as the pool which was so handy.

Hotel is so close to the old town centre and the beach. Lots of restaurants and shops close by. Couldn’t fault the location at all. However with a pram or wheelchair I don’t think the hotel would be a great choice!

Pool is a really nice space, plenty of loungers and a beautiful view. Pool itself is really nice but it definitely needs some work. If they don’t get the broken tiles sorted soon someone is really going to be injured.

We choose not to eat breakfast in the hotel but did eat across the road in eddys, a fry was only £3.90

We would definitely return as a couple but don’t think we would come here as a family holiday with our daughter. Definitely just perfect for a couple or friends coming away to the sun for a few days/week

I honestly wouldn’t be out of by any negative reviews and would just book it. For the price they offer and the location it’s definitely value for money

The property exterior was nice, the restaurants and beach are within walking distance. Staff was alright. There were drunks in the hallways all night, barely slept a wink. Called reception and it just kept happening. Didn’t get any sleep. They don’t enforce any of their rules with law enforcement, and so we got no sleep. The rooms were not what we expected, very crowded and paper thin. You can wash your hands while sitting on the toilet. I loved the location, but would probably never stay here again.

We paid extra for a room with partial sea view and requested a room high up with expedia.
When we booked in, reception told us they do not do rooms with a sea view and had not recieved information from expedia regarding this.
She told us she only had one room on the lower level, we asked to see it, this was a dark hole of a room at road level and was unaceptable to us.
She then stated she had another room, we looked at this, still low level with no view of sea and overlooked the swimming pool.
We then said we would have to have a full refund, at which she then produced a third room for us to have a look at, this was what we had expected from our booking website with a partial sea view and we happily accepted.
This experience tainted our start to our holiday.

The property is in a good position within easy walking distance to the old town, bars, shops and restaurants and the beach.
The breakfast is very basic, only offering Chamomile or decaf tea.
I found the bed very uncomfortable it was extremely hard.
There isn't a hair dryer in the room but thankfully I had taken one. There was only one socket in the room so taking a multi usb charger is usefull if you have more than one phone/tablet to charge.

Great location near Old Town and just happy it was only a pit stop for the night. Don’t get me wrong, the people at the front desk were real nice but the hotel needs some work. We were given the first room when you walk into the hotel (room 300). Felt like I was in a jail cell! The room was located in the lobby of the hotel and as you can imagine, the traffic and noise level was very high. Pretty sure it was a handicap room because the entry way had two wooden doors that were paper thin. Cobwebs, stained blankets, and a dirty straw that was left behind from a prior guest. The carpet was disgusting as well. Not to mention, the mattresses literally felt harder than concrete. The air conditioning and the view from the window down to Old Town was the best part about the room. Fortunately we didn’t stay in the room for too long. Let’s just say we didn’t sleep too well (or at all).

We stayed in this hotel just after the 1st proposed brexit date at the beginning of April. After getting really cheap flights we looked for a good value accommodation. Vila Receife came in at a great price. Located very close to Albufeira Old Town it seemed perfect. It is located up a big hill and this is a hotel not for the infirm or unfit. On the plus side the taxis are not too expensive from the old town back up. The reception welcome was excellent. The staff were so friendly. As the hotel is built into the hill we had to go down two levels to our room. The room was immaculate. Very clean, roomy with a clean and functional bathroom. Only downside of the room was that it had a very small balcony. There was only one chair on it which was not ideal for us as we tend to retire to the balcony after our evening out before bed. As this was a corner room I think is the reason why there was a small balcony. I'm sure other rooms have more spacious balconies. The room was thoroughly cleaned every day. We're not early risers and were never up for the cleaners arriving. Everyday they returned to clean the room for our return in the evening. Excellent service indeed. There are some lovely little bars very close to the hotel and just down the hill there are some fabulous restaurants. This is a great little hotel in a nice location if you're not worried about hills. Would I stay again? Most certainly yes.

Really good location, 2 minute walk to the centre and beach. Breakfast could be better, basic and little choice, however there is a really good breakfast place right across the road, a full English was 3.50 euros. Ground floor and level 1 rooms have poor views, either pool on one side or a wall the other. Pool wasn't very busy and a good size for a cool down. Staff were helpful throughout our stay and spoke good English. Actual room could be updated, however they seemed like they were already starting to update furniture.

Just got back from a 9 night stay at this hotel, and we were pleasantly surprised how nice it was considering it’s 2 star rating.
We arrived late, and were greeted by the lovely lady on reception who sorted our rooms, we had two rooms on the lower level next to the pool, which was very handy as you can open your sliding door in morning and literally put your towel on a sun bed.
The pool is not massive, and it loses the sun later in the afternoon, but as it’s really hot this was quite nice to be in the shade later in the day, no pool bar mind..
Rooms were cleaned daily, with clean towels supplied...there is free wi-fi in the hotel, and you can get it round the pool area.

Nice courtyard outside at the entrance, and a breakfast area has a bar also, only open from 4pm and quite cheap prices.
Would highly recommend visits to blue bell bar & eddy’s across the road.
The old town is very hilly, so if you are disabled or struggle with walking, you may want to look at somewhere lower down in the town?
This is a lovely hotel, in a great location and we will certainly be going back for a second visit, give it a try..

Great location

This hotel is in the perfect location and in comparison to others, is relatively inexpensive.
It is a little bit run down and I would suggest paying more for one of the newer rooms (I believe there are renovated rooms). I stayed in a twin room close to the entrance. It was very old and felt like you were in a wind tunnel as the door rattled very loudly all the time in the wind draft. I had to find something to jam in the door gaps to lessen the noise. You also get noise from the hallway and people next door, not to mention the bar across the road.
You have to pay to use the safe which is pretty poor considering the safe is already in your room!
And there is no wifi in the rooms which, in this day and age, is usually a standard feature.
On a positive note, it is so close to the main part of town and the beach (both around a 3 minute walk). The marina is an easy 17 min walk. And the shuttle service is prompt and friendly.

So although there are definitely negatives I would stay here again due to the positives.

Apart for location, not much to say

Wouldn't stay there again. Old part of hotel is \"falling down\" you could open some of the doors with a spoon !!! New build isn't much better, walls & corridors are \"paper thin\" . Only friendly staff were the chamber maids & the girl in the bar. Most of the others, particularly the reception staff would avoid eye contact..... although it is hard to blaim them I suppose, as there were constant complaints I'm sure.

We do like the Vila Recife more because of where it is situated, the cleanliness of the room is spot on, just the shower could do with staying hot long enough to have one, the hotel has had a slight renovation which was needed and is now looking good, could probably do with new curtains too, I will continue to stay here...

fantastic place to visit

The hotel staff was friendly, helpful and spoke English which is good, the rooms have also been refurbished to modern standards compared to old pics currently on their website which can be a put off.
The breakfast was ok and basic not much options. They could do better with Wifi access in the rooms and not just in lobby or dinning area. I did enjoy my stay without any fuss.

Great location and clean

Emailed asking for 4/5 floor room overlooking old town as we had stayed previous year on 5th floor without view. No notice taken and were given reception floor with no view , before given the key , I asked would you not have higher floor ( sun terrace on 4 and 5) I was told “no”. Reception floor (3) was very noisy.

Great hotel, close to the old town

Hotel being refurbished so looking very nice and will be great when finished. Perfect location, close to the old town with local bars just outside the hotel gates (Eddy's and Blue Bell). Breakfast ok, limited choice but fine for what we needed. Weather nice and sunny - overall a perfect stay!

poor night receptionist - manager saved the day!

I booked a room with partial sea view. I was given a room with pool view. I went to reception (evening and night) and complained. She had no sympathy, was rude and never apologised. I think the hotel didn't understand the meaning of 'partial'. They think it means 50/50 if you get a pool view or not. I spoke to manager, who was quite pleasant, the next day and after debating the 'partial' thing they said to come back at 11 that morning and would change the room. I called back and was given a room which I was very happy. Overall everything was good but was spoiled a little by the first night experience.

good value basic hotel

Old hotel with spotless rooms.linen and towels changed regularly every two days. Refrigerator in room with cups,saucers,plates,knives and forks and glasses. Basic Continental breakfast which is adequate. Lovely pool. We enjoyed our stay. Noisy at night as music stops at 4am.

4 of us stayed in 2 rooms on 2nd floor over looking pool and old town for 6 nights. The hotel is a bit dated and needs some updating and noise from old town stops you keeping doors open at night. Apart from that for the price we were very happy with or stay. The location is great and the cleaning rooms excellent. Bar on site never opened during our stay but you can byo. Rooms also have fridge,kettles ,cups, etc but no supplies byo.

Nice hotel needs a bit updating but clean change of towels most days bed clean and comfortable staff really nice and helpful just a short walk to beach and old Town lots to see and do over all a great holiday
