Great 4-star hotel

Very friendly staff. Clean and comfortable.
There is a shuttle bus from the hotel to city centre. The food is great there.
The only thing that I can comment on is that there is no tea nor coffee at the rooms although there is a kettle and there are no supermarkets near the hotel

Room was clean and comfortable although not much space when the extra bed is in the room, although this did not cause to much of a problem as we didn't spend time in the room.
Modern bathroom and food shower.
Stayed b&b and breakfast was ok. Milk was never cold for the cereal and the glasses for the fruit juice were always warm.
Pool was excellent and always plenty loungers.
Food at the pool bar wasn't great for what you paid for it. Hotel is very remote so if you like to have some restaurants and bars within walking distance then this hotel is not for you.
Easy taxi ride into old town.

A short visit to Balaia Grande Albufeira

Very clean overall but no tea making facility in the room and no refrigerator. Breakfast was adequate but not spectacular by any means. Despite a large car park I had to park on rough terrain outside on a couple of occasions.
To be frank we were a bit disappointed because it was not the experience we had on a previous stay

Hotel was nice and had a great pool. The staff was terrific! . The bathrooms were outdated and dark, and the beds were hard.
Yes the hotel is within walking distance to the beach, but fair warning it’s not close. Especially when you are walking back and it’s uphill and hot.

Would stay here again. Great facilities, staff are helpful and friendly. The hotel is within walking distance of the beach and walking along the coastal path can take you to other beaches nearby. We didn’t eat in the restaurant but the pool cafe had a great range of classic dishes such as lasagne and bolognaise. The spa is lovely offering a range of different treatments. We had a great stay!

Overall the property was just what I was looking for and it was perfect. The service at the pool restaurant was unexplainable. Despite going everyday I could never get anyone to wait on me despite plenty of staff. They would bring menus and take other people’s order hole I was just sitting there. Then, I would go to the bar and order but they would never come by to see if I needed anything else. As I stated, the whole experience was unexplainable. Otherwise the property was great and Portugal was beautiful. My trip was prepaid and I was surprised to learn at check-in that a tourist tax had to be paid. I don’t remember this being explained when the reservation was made.

One of the ladies at the food area was extremely rude. She told us we could not get coffee as it was not included in our package. We were willing to pay, but she brushed us off.

A very basic hotel with no option to get water/coffee/snacks unless you pre paid for the meal option.

A little far from the centre as well.

The hotel is far from everything so you definitely need a car or taxi. The hotel was nice but couldn’t even get a coffee if you didn’t opt in for the breakfast plan, which was disappointing (even though we would’ve fully paid for the coffee).

This was our second visit to this hotel and it did not disappoint. We can only think of positive things to say. Cleanliness is outstanding, the staff work non stop to ensure that everything is first class. The area is quiet but there is still enough to entertain even if you have no transport. We will definitely be back, cannot recommend highly enough.

Food was average & don't expect Expedia VIP perks at this property as none received despite being gold.

For 4 star hotel you would expect free safe inside the room [here 2€ per night as rent]. Inside pool was a benefit.
We only had breakfast, quite repetitive and focus on british customers, after few days of stay we eat, but some more option would be nice. Few small improvements would maximise the esthetics view of the hotel i.e black silicon around sink, toilet seat in mens toilet in breakfast area.
Hotel far away from the sea, not sure if the sea view is worth of extra money.

Our stay was great! The room was spacious and clean, the view above the pool was awesome. I enjoyed hearing the water falling into the small pool. The bed was super comfy. The buffet meals were fairly tasty and somewhat varied, but not terribly creative, and, unfortunately they did not have good vegetarian and vegan options except the salads and desserts, which were exceptionally good! The place is located pretty far out from the town center. Free transportation to town is available, but limited. There are lots of interesting things nearby if you arrive by car. A popular beach is nearby and walkable and has a restaurant that serves food and drinks including a yummy Sangria. The front desk staff are wonderfully very helpful. The indoor pool and steam room are really nice but the pool could be a bit warmer since the weather outdoors was cooling and it would have been nice to have more indoor entertainment options like a games room or pool table. The free lounge entertainment was really good though. The tours the front desk arranged for us were great! The dolphin watching and caves boat tour was exciting and memorable and the bus tours were really, really comfortable, fun and enlightening as to the history of the Algarve. I would highly recommend this property and would gladly stay there again.

Alot of the staff was very good and hard working.
Most of it was good and a nice stay but given we went in November we chose the hotel for the indoor pool only to be told whilst in the pool we had to leave and buy a swimming hat to use it. This information was not provided on any site or told at check in. The attitude of the staff member was unpleasant, as a result we did not use the facility. So take a swim hat with you if you want to use the indoor pool!

This was the only property we stayed that was Expedia 4-star. The others were much less. We opted for the \"half-board\" internal restaurant food and we glad we did - PT is not as tourist-cheap as it once was. Thank goodness this property was located on a highland promontory outside the \"tourist strip mall\" of Albufeira. The sea view rooms are possibly worth the extra. Very clean, modern, functioning with good, competent service.

This hotel is a well run property catering for mainly older guests in the Winter period and a younger element In Spring and Summer the interior areas are pleasant and the leisure facilities are good. The restaurant is mainly buffet style with a slighty intimidating table policy particularly for new arrivals. We visit this hotel usually twice yearly but mainly in the Winter season.

Property was good. Secluded location. Large area. Were having a refurbishment at the time but allowed guests to use another hotel, albeit 3km away. We hired a car which made it easy to transfer a to b. No double beds but 2 singles pushed together, worked for us.

Have been many times and have never been disappointed. When we arrived this time we were told the inside pool was unavailable due to renovations being done but we were able to use another hotels facilities and Baia Grande provided transport to and from there. Staff are always polite, friendly and nothing is to much trouble for them. Bar area is bright and has a fantastic view of the outside pool area which is lovely. Can’t wait to return.

Overall my partner and I had a pleasant stay at Hotel Bahia. The hotel was very clean and the rooms were as advertised which was good.
The con's - The breakfast choices were not vast and could do with having more options. The pool area also could have done with a bit of modification. Given that we stayed in winter season, the use of the indoor pool would have been beneficial and made our stay more comfortable.

I don't know how this a 4 star hotel, far from it maybe in the 90s as well as the menu it seems stuck in time , buffet evening meal was over priced at 25 euros and very bland and nothing Portuguese about it, had better meal at soa Rafeal which IS round corner for the same price with drink best food ive had in long time , disappointed with cleanliness of my room , Bathroom wasn't clean for the entire time i was there. One last thing i checked out at midday but wasnt being pick up until 5pm so went out and enjoy the last of the sun before home and lest baggage behind , on my return i ask if i could freshen up ie shower as i hot from being in the sun and the beach , the management refused me a place or a room to use even though the hotel was far from fully booked , they said i could use the toilet, which i had choice but use it to get change in so i had to travel back sweaty and smelly , ive never had this treatment before for all years i have travelled , would i say money well spent got to say a big no .

This hotel is in the middle of nowhere so you will need a car to travel around. Was given the wrong room upon arrival, I was surprised to see a jungle as my balcony view instead of the sea view that I paid for. I was told to wait until the next day for a room and was also told that this should be ok as I can’t see the view at night time anyway. I was surprised they were taking their mistake so lightly. In the meantime I could not unpack anything as I would have to pack the next day again. The new room had a dodgy lock which kept making unlocking noise so it seemed like someone was trying to get in. Not a pleasant noise when you are trying to sleep! The bathtub was blocked. The evening/night staff were unfriendly and approachable so I waited for daytime staff who were more approachable. I was pleased to leave the hotel at the end of my stay and will not be staying there again.

Loved this hotel! Rooms were perfect and were kept very clean. Air conditioning worked great! The hotel staff was very accommodating and answered all the questions about the local area that we had. We were about a 10 minute drive from the downtown areas but we were closer to the beaches. The pool area was awesome and there was a little restaurant/bar where you could grab a bite to eat. The hotel also had live music at night which we caught checked out after we got back from a night out. There was a shuttle service that took you down to Old Town which was very convenient! We really enjoyed \"Old Town\" compared to \"New Town\". New Town was nice but Old Town had a little bit of everything. Both had great restaurants and bars. New Town had more of the club scene. Definitely would stay at Hotel Baia Grande again if we made our way back to Albufeira!

We had a lovely stay at Hotel Baia Grande. The hotel and our room were very clean. The breakfast was plentiful with lots of variety. Location is great for visiting the Sesmarias area. Coelho beach about 9 minutes walk and Sao Rafael beach about 19 mins walk both beautiful beaches. Daily shuttle bus to Albufeira and Mon to Fri shuttle bus to Gale beach. We found the staff all very friendly and pleasant. We will definitely stay at this hotel again.

Hotel is fine but far from old town & srtrip 15 mins by uber.
our sheets were not changed for the whole 5 days we was there, times we would only find one clean towel n no floor mat.
Found pillows on floor I’m the corner after cleaners came in, another time pillows at the bottom of the bed. Rug taken up but not out back on room floor, throws were left under the desk not out back on the bed.
Cutlery cups n teapot not removed from our room dispute cleaners been in the room, floors seemed not to be moped or hovered ...

Food area was over busy so asked if I could take my breakfast to my room & was told no

Save Your Money - huge regret

This place is ridiculous for the price. The convenience of it’s location does not make up for everything wrong. Our room wasn’t very clean, sink not fully functional, 2 cockroaches walking around when we woke up in the morning. The pool and outdoor bar/restaurant closes at 7pm. 7? What the heck is that. On top of that the food is expensive and the wait staff is BEYOND rude. I wanted to grab some fries to bring back to my room. I was told I need to sit down to order food, so I sit down and they bring me fries 20 minutes later on a plate. Then asked for them to go and they threw them in tin foil, scrunched it up and tooo me another 30 minutes before I could pay. Also it’s not a heated pool and was freezing. The indoor heated pool room smells awful. Walked in and walked right out. There is no convenience store in the hotel so If you drink the 2 complementary waters, youre stuck with sink water at night because nothing is open. The one good thing I’ll give them is that the breakfast buffet is good. But overall the staff is really uptight, I didn’t not feel comfortable moving about the hotel. Felt like I had to be cautious with everything I did. Spent almost 1000€ for 2 nights. I could’ve gotten way more elsewhere and been more comfortable. It’s awful to know that money went to this place.

It was a very pleasant stay, I went with my girlfriend and her parents and we all loved the hotel. We were given a private two-bedroom suite which was both pleasantly spacious and cosy. Breakfast was very nice however could do with a little more variety. Would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a relaxing holiday however as the hotel is situated far from transport links, be prepared to pay for taxis and UBER's if you haven't hired a vehicle. We mostly used UBERS which worked out fairly cheap so explore your options. Overall would recommend the hotel!

The room was beautiful and mostly met our needs. There were a couple frustrating things that we didn’t encounter in other hotels while traveling - the fridge was locked and there was a fee for using the safe. The breakfast buffet had wide variety of choices and the pool area was wonderful. There are public beaches nearby but my friend and I enjoyed more wandering along the coast and finding the less populated hidden beaches.

We thought it was a fantastic hotel, very clean, great pool, loads of areas to walk near, many quiet beaches close, plenty of food options near and not far from old town if you want a much more lively evening.

The food was ok and good at times but felt for the price we paid there were much better options outside.

The only downside to the hotel is that we found mainly the bar staff and waiter staff very rude and unfriendly at times. Not everyone deserves this critique, however 2 or 3 individuals you couldn't pay them to smile.

Overall though great hotel and location with only minor negative points.

Grande at Christmas

Some excellent staff that really went out of their way to be helpful. Grande is a worthy 4 star. Outdoor pool was freezing but there was foozball and table tennis games nearby. The outdoor bar and restaurant closed for Christmas. Lovely range and quality for breakfast. Indoor pool was nice and warm and not busy at all. Swim caps must be worn at a cost of £5 each, although they can be bought in town for £1. Restaurant/Piano bar was quite pricey but there was entertainment there each night. Bedding was not changed during our 3 day stay and we were bitten by mosquitoes each night as we slept and there were some ants spotted on the table, we were careful to use the net curtains when opening the side doors but maybe they slipped through. This is something other reviewers had mentioned too. Shuttle bus only runs to town and Galé beach at certain times but if one is overbooked they will put another one on just after. The airport shuttle advertised on website consists of staff calling a taxi for you but it was same price as as an Uber. I was being a bit presumptuous thinking it would be a free service. Internet reception is awful and it costs extra to pay for WiFi. There is a computer st reception which we we’re allowed o use for free and print boarding passes at no extra cost.ocation is within walking distance to some lovely little cove beaches but you would not walk to town. A taxi from the hotel to old town is only about £6-7 anyway. Overall it was worth the price we paid.

I will say that this hotel is good and many of the employees are very helpful and respectful. It has a lot of services for the people here. The only issue i have had recently is with some of the employees that work in the restaurant. I noticed that one of the employees used a cleaning rag right around my plate of food when i momentarily was away from the table. Why would an employee need to clean the table with a rag when the guest had all of his food on the table and have not eaten yet. I do believe that unfortunately some of the employees in hotels do not like and resent tourists or foreigners. I believe this is even more so of younger tourists and foreigners. some of these employees try to annoy or psychologically or emotionally harass guests that they do not like. I will say again that this was only some of the employees and i believe does not represent the overall business. other than that this is a good hotel and i appreciate all of the good employees at this hotel thanks.

Everything was perfect and the staff was really amazing but just that the Jacuzzi wasn't working but overall I had an amazing time in the hotel and was comfortable throughout. Had vegetarian options for breakfast, room service appreciated and cleanliness was maintained. Thankyou for making my stay in Portugal worth.

Great hotel and staff!

My family and I had a great stay at Baia Grande! Great pools and facilities, always had a couple of loungers available even if not your preferred speck. Food was really tasty and the bar and restaurant was very well managed and comfortable. My last bit of praise has to go to the staff: they were all very friendly and accommodating, especially with my young son who made a friend in Maria and one of the gentlemen waiters in particular. However, everyone was fantastic!

Ideal for a short break

We were only there for a weekend and for our needs of a little bit of sun, pool and shopping it was ideal. Due to how remote it is from any local shops that you could walk to, and the perhaps more restrictive dining than we are used to - I wouldn't have wanted to have spent a week there without perhaps hiring a car. The rooms are great and the air conditioning was a God-send during the heatwave. Just wish the rest of the hotel had the same air conditioning.

Far away from hustle and bustle

.... but close enough to most things I.e 10 min drive to old town and beach 15 min walk to beach. Shuttle times are ridiculous, really inconvenient times and last shuttle from the old town (where most restaurants, beach and shops are) was at 6.40pm. Uber’s were usually about €7 into town.
Room balconies were incredibly small, a table with 2 chairs fit but you couldn’t move around it or step onto the balcony with them there. The rooms were clean and comfortable. No tea and coffee facilities and you have to pay to use the safe. Food was amazing!!! A different thing every evening for dinner. There was even a bbq evening by the pool with entertainment on Thursday nights. Restaurant was clean and efficient. We had a massage each but I wouldn’t rate it. Yes it was relaxing but if your looking for a something a little more “effective” than just having oil rubbed on your back then it’s not worth it. Nice lady though just needy something more intense. She didn’t ask if pressure was ok I almost forgot she was there haha
Pool was freezing as most are. My only fault with the pool area was the sun beds. Most were broken and very uncomfortable. The black ones your bum would fall though the bit that separates your top from your bottom halve and most had the netting damaged so holes in them. the yellow ones you couldn’t lye in your stomach as they don’t lye Flat. Some had broken backs so you couldn’t lift the upper half to sit up. The flies were annoying. pool restaurant food was great

Excellent choice fir quiet stay

Hotel is nicer than photos suggest.lovely rooms.nice pool area with no loud music plenty of loungers and shaded area.Nice beach near the hotel -blueflag with stairs and small cafe/hire hut.Make sure you go to this beach and not the one to the left of it which has no stairs and is difficult to access.Nice piano bar for drinks/cocktails.Restaurant breakfast and evening meals good.Quiet hotel which is a bit out from Albufeira.Taxi to old town was less than 10 euros .

Great pool area although little disappointed.

Hotel it's self is lovley, nice pool area. Drinks are expensive for small cans of pop for kids. Also bar closed outside at 6:30 which is far too early, as didn't want to sit inside and drink when nice weather. Also didn't have fridge in room except if u asked at reception then used the drinks in it. Shuttle service was good to get lifts to other areas nearby as quite a walk to anywhere. Overall we had a great time just areas for improvement with being a 4 star hotel, would say better for adult guests as no entertainment for children.

Nice clean hotel is quite area

The hotel was very nice, at first I was worried we were off from everything but is was wrong. Many restaurants close by, 2 of them outstanding. The breakfast was good as was the pool area with many seating options and shade options. The one thing was that we found the beds very hard but that seems how it is in Portuguese hotels and is just a minor personal thing. The bedding was very nice though. Overall I would book this hotel again and recommend to anyone as it is close to the city by car but also a nice quieter area.

Spotlessly clean. Excellent staff. Clean and well maintained outdoor pool. Shuttle bus regularly to beach and into central Albufeira. Within walking distance of numerous restaurants and beaches.
Cons
Indoor pool needs a makeover. Possibly too remote for younger people who want bustling bars and music
