Houlgate is gorgeous. The property is tired, though. Felt a bit \"institutional\". Disappointing that the pool/spa only opens at 10 and closes at 7 which means you can either have a day out or stay and use the facilities. Not something I'd considered before. Spa was good though.

The location is beautiful, the flats are modern and comfortable. The only difficulty was to get the instructions for a late check-in (to get the keys for the flat since the reception closes at 19.00 and we were planning to arrive 19.30). We didn't get an answer to the messages sent via Hotels.com. Eventually I phoned the reception and they sent the instructions via email.

Beautiful surroundings, lovely location to Holgate and Carbourg. Excellent heated pool (kids loved it) and really friendly staff. The accommodation was slightly tired but would definitely stay again.

House with Beautiful views of sea & lovely town of Houlgate. Good sized heated pool & very comfortable town house with a patio. Beds very comfortable & lots of wardrobe space. Kitchen well equipped, good joint microwave & convection oven, 2 coffee machines, Nespresso & filter coffee, toaster, fridge, dishwasher & utensils. No shop & big hill to walk up so advise getting supplies before you get there. Can order baguettes for breakfast. Very dog friendly with lots of walks within the complex. Gardens are stunning & very peaceful. Didn't use spa as extra but looks lovely. Staff very helpful & will return for a 3rd time.

Tiny townhomes in beautiful setting

Tiny townhomes in very nice setting. These are tiny townhomes/apartments in a beautiful wooded setting not too far from Houldgarde. They can be very nice for families seeking seclusion and outdoor activities in a nice nature setting. The reception is closed half the time and a car is required to travel to the town (which is also closed half the time).

I have asked for a baby cot which was not in the room, I had to carry it myself from the hotel reception at my arrival. Overall no communication from the team, amenities are old and need maintenance.

The heated swimming pool was closed, which was a huge downside when we arrive, I assumed heated meant it was open during the winter months (we stayed in October). The maisonette had beautiful views of the town but the bathroom was really cramped. The place was really in need of repairs, tiles missing in the bathroom which also had plug holes in the wall from a missing soap tray, a lot of wear and tear around (marks on walls, floors), a plug was missing from the wall by one of the master bedroom's bedside tables with the wires visible inside the hole, there was visible dust on walls behind the bedside lamps, rusty looking sealant by the shower doors etc. We couldn't be bothered to complain as we were only there for three nights and wanted to hit the town and get some food before it was too late. The town of Houlgate is pleasant with many shops (butcher, bakery, small supermarket etc) and a nice sandy beach.

Fabulous hotel with spa attached

Very peaceful, within walking distance of beach. We stayed in a self catering little house which was immaculate, great view.
The only improvement I'd suggest is a coffee shop or snack shop onsite so if people don't want to go down into the town for restaurants & shops they can get a few essentials on site.

Good place to stay if you bring a car and food

Quiet, good view and reasonable price - but a lot of disapppointments, too. Difficult to find and impossible to get to without a car. No food, not a simple cafe on the property - the nearest coffee houses and restaurants are 15-20 min walk. True, the apartments have kitchens, but if you have not brought your own food, you are in trouble. Reception not 24 hours and fairly inefficient: they could not find my reservation, never responded any emails, the telephone listed on the website is not working - we really had lots of trouble with them. OK, this is France, we still love it in spite of all the efforts of the natives toput us off

I had to ask for any service availabe,
I have to asked for bakary service (didt tell me at the beggining)
I there sould be non information about indoor swimming pool in advert...... if u want to go there u have to use SEPARATE spa treatment no only swim and it cost minimum €32 (I would go to swim with my 2year old daughter when was rainy even for extra pay that why I was looking for hotel with indoor swimming pool)
when I asked WHAT we can use in hotel I have been told about outdoor swimming pool ONLY.... there is also cardio room to use FREE.... NEVER BEEN TOLD ABOUT THAT EVEN WHEN I ASKED WHAT CAN I USE IN HOTEL. there is veryyyyyy big lack of information.... I feel like I didnt used all what I paid for.... so disappointed..

Pleasant surprise in Houlgate

We were traveling with our 2 grandsons 14 &15. We knew that there was a swim pool, but we didn't use it. All food and drinks had to be purchased at local stores. They had a bakery deliver baked good (all were wonderful). Full kitchens. We used the hotel for travelling to Normandy, Mont st Michelle.

The hotel would have marvelous if some of the basics were included in the kitchen. There were pot and pans, plates and silverware, dishwasher with soap, but not one condiment, coffee filter or coffee. No sugar or salt or pepper. Other than that it was a great stay.

Very friendly receptionists who all spoke excellent English. Nice room with a kitchen area ( microwave, dishwasher, hob) with lovely views down to the town. Houlgate was a lovely place to stay with an enormous beach and plenty of restaurants.

Lovely apartment. Reception opening hours limited and staff at reception refused to talk to us when we arrived at 2 minutes past 7 as reception was closing. After that everything was great. Views are lovely and apartment well kitted out. Pity though that indoor pool was so expensive to use - €20 !

Delightful hotel with fantastic views.

We were a group of 38 people from the British Army and spent 4 nights for a Battlefield study. The location was excellent and the facilities were top class. It was a nice quiet area with an abundance of nice eateries and bars and cafes. The beach is a 5 minute walk away and there are plenty of little gift shops to take home souvenirs. The rooms are spacious and well appointed and we would definitely use it again.

We Loved this place

This Hotel is in the hills with a very nice view of the Ocean and the town of Houlgate. The rooms were very clean with comfortable beds and nice bathroom amenities. Would stay there again without hesitation.

After leaving Paris and very tight and congested rooms for the 4 of us in our family this was a huge breath of fresh air and privacy and comfort.

Okay now for the frustrating part. The streets to and from this Hotel and to and from Houlgate are very confusing.
We drove around for awhile even with a Garman Navigator before we figured out how to get to the Hotel. Later we went to drive into town we found that the road to the Hotel is One Way. The other direction from the Hotel takes you into the surrounding Neighborhood and finally into Houlgate. However this is also a One Way road the other direction.
Put simply you must enter the Hotel grounds from a One way direction, and leave on another One Way through the Neighborhood. Quite confusing.

We also got caught by a One Way road trying to leave the Beautiful town of Houlgate trying to find our way back to the hotel. Spend a half hour driving around trying to find our way back to the hotel after leaving our Navigator in our Hotel room.

Please don't let the roads into and out of this Hotel scare you off. Once you figure them out it's worth the stay.

The hotel is great, service friendly, and facilities good. The room may benefit from being introduced to a duster, there was a thick layer of dust on the light bulbs for instance. Its just the attention to detail that is missing but all in all a perfectly acceptable stay.

Horaires d’entrée pas compatible avec le spa

Nous avons été déçu par rapport aux horaires pour pouvoir profiter de la piscine et spa.
La piscine intérieur ferme à 18h30 et ouvrait le lendemain à 10h.nous avons passé 1 nuit.ont a eut notre chambre à 17h et il fallait rendre les clés le lendemain à 10h.Donc nous n’avons pas pu profiter…
Nous avons beaucoup aimé le cadre qui est super agréable et l’accueil très chaleureux.

Die Unterkunft liegt sehr ruhig. Die Wohnung war für uns ausreichend. Die. Bäder sind sehr klein/ eng und leider nicht mehr ansehnlich. Brächten eine Renovierung.
Für den Preis völlig in Ordnung, da man den Spa - Sauna und Pool mitbenutzen kann.

Dejligt kompleks med en vidunderlig udsigt. Fint udstyret lejlighed, meget bedre end forventet. Hyggelig by at gå ned til. Smukt område. Kommer meget gerne igen. Eneste problem er at det tilsyneladende er tilladt at ryge på terrassen og det generer meget når man er ikke ryger. Så terrassen blev næsten ikke brugt 😟.

Très bel endroit avec une vue magnifique. Bien situé pour visiter la région. Je recommande tout de même une voiture pour aller à la plage car c'est en pente. L'appartement duplex était bien décoré, propre et très bien équipé. Seules quelques finitions seraient à revoir (joints de salle de bain) et peut-être l'isolation phonique (nous entendions le chien voisin...). Le personnel était charmant. Nous reviendrons également pour le spa.

Schöne Unterkunft um die Normandie zu erkunden. Bäder könnte man mal renovieren. Das einzig zu kritisieren an der Unterkunft ist, wenn man mit Kindern reist, das die Poolzeiten für Kinder leider eingeschränkt sind. 14:30-18:30 der Pool öffnet um 10:00 Uhr. Sehr schade. Sonst zu empfehlen.

Résidence pas très adaptée à des familles avec de jeunes enfants. Concerne plutôt un accueil de personnes d'un certains âge.
La propreté n'était pas au RDV, surtout dans les chambres sous les lits où nous avons retrouvé une quantité de poussières datant d'un certain temps.
Cuisine non adaptée (petite) et un manque cruel d'ustensile pour cuisiner.
L'accueil était très bien et les hôtesses à la disposition des clients.

Séjour agréable sur les golfs de la région. L’hébergement était convenable même si nous constations ici et là quelques indications du vieillissement de l’installation ( fuite d’eau sous baie vitrée par temps de pluie, robinetterie entartrée, mobilier usé ) . Personnels agréables assurant un très bon accueil.
Logement propre et agréable.
Par contre électroménager défectueux et à la limite de l’acceptable ce qui noircit le tableau- dommage. Le lave vaisselle est HS et rebutant on préfère faire la vaisselle à la main, les téléviseurs sont HS, la porte du fraiseur vous tombe sur les pieds si vous n’êtes pas prévenus.
Dommage pour un logement P V premiun.
Enfin cela n’empêchera pas une prochaine location chez pierre et vacances.

Aucune activité pour enfant en cas de mauvais temps.

Dejligt, roligt og familievenligt. Imødekommende personale.
Skønt lokalområde med mulighed for basisindkøb og spisesteder. Dertil giver beliggenheden mulighed for gode udflugter.

Fine ferielejligheder til prisen

Fine ferielejligheder, venligt personale og flot poolområde, jeg synes dog at poolen bør have mere fleksible åbningstider, det er for sent at den først åbner kl 10
Selve lejligheden er lidt slidt og fugerne på badeværelse havde mug flere steder.
Der mangler lidt faciliteter på stedet som f.eks. En poolbar, hvor der kan købes lidt drikkevarer og snack, og måske en kiosk hvor der kan købes is og sodavand mm.
Der mangler en dobbeltseng eller trekvartseng i soveværelset istedet for to enkelte senge, hvoraf den ene slå ud seng var meget ukomfortabel.
Der er få lidt service i køkkenet, der kunne ønskes lidt flere drikkeglas. Og lidt flere klude.

Bon accueil. Terrasse, un bon coup de nettoyage serait bien, toiles d’araignée et table sale. Piscine agréable mais 27 degrés, c’est beaucoup trop. Vue magnifique. Nous reviendrons.

État de vétusté indigne

Nous avons choisi cette hôtel car il était annoncé comme premium. Quelle déception en arrivant dans les yeux, totalement défraîchie, téléviseur qui ne fonctionne pas, le seul pas tout à fait propre, les dalles de la terrasse extérieure qui s’enlèvent et manquent de blesser notre petit.
Les deux personnes à l’accueil font un travail formidable, compte-tenu de l’état de vétusté des lieux. Il semblerait que de nombreux clients aient formulé des plaintes récemment. Ceci est franchement inacceptable, je pense que nous pouvons appeler ça une arnaque.

C'est de l'escroquerie, c’est de l’arnaque.

J’ai eu un imprévu familiale mon père est hospitalisé mardi dernier donc j’ai demandé l’annulation de mon séjour j’ai appelé 3 fois le service Hotel.com à chaque fois ils me disent qu’ils vont voir avec l’établissement est j’aurais une réponse avant le séjour et chaque fois ils me balance un mensonge (la 2 fois ils m’ont dit que leur collègue n’a pas envoyer ma demande au service concernant)
Le jour de mon séjour à 18h32 j’ai eu un Email de leur part que l’établissement à refuser l’annulation et avec une 100% de pénalité (396 euros la totalité de séjour).
Donc je n’ai pas eu de remboursement.
C'est de l'escroquerie, c’est de l’arnaque.

다시 찾고 싶은 호텔

다음에도 꼭 다시 이용하고 싶은 아주 좋은 호텔입니다. 깔끔하고 넓은 객실에 직원들도 매우 친절해서 기분 좋게 잘 쉬다 왔습니다. 야외 수영장이 개장 전이었고 스파 점검 기간이라 이용할 수 없어 좀 아쉬웠지만 다음에는 시기를 잘 맞춰 다시 가고 싶습니다.

Hotel très au calme à 1km d'houlgate, belle chambre (duplex), personnel sympathique .
Notre expérience a été malheureusement endeuillée par l'indisponibilité de la balnéothérapie suite à un incendie !
Nous étions venus spécialement pour cela !
Incident du au hasard, dommage pour nous .

NEVER MORE - dirty and unmade

We were here 8y ago, everything was new and nice..BUT now we were very dissatisfied! Everything was damaged, dirty - especially bathroom, walls and floor was smudged, cleaning staff were very lazy, reception was open only sometimes as they wanted. We were totally dissatisfied. The rooms are max. 3 stars! Everything needs completely renovation! Never again! Be aware with children - damaged AC socket, reading lamps before lapse. I wanted to complain on site but it was not possible (they speak French only - out of spite!
