Staff was horrible with the exception of 2 people Abel and the bell boy.. they were the nicest people in the entire facility. I would never go again… the rest of the staff seem to have an attitude problem and looked like they didn’t want to be there or help the hotel guest. My first night there my room got flooded with water that came out of the restroom from the shower. The food was not good. I felt like it was unsanitary. I did like that they came and clean the room every day! I expected so much more from this place but was totally disappointed

If you have a rental car be aware there is street parking only. There is no offsite option for a fee as mentioned on the Expedia website. This is not a beachfront property and you will have to cross the street into a public beach if you want to. The elevators are miserably slow and you will need roughly 10 minutes to go back to your room. The food is ok at best. The pool is very small for the number of guests in the hotel. The entire building itself is very run down and not up to par with other Decameron locations.

The service in the restaurants is good and so was the food. This property was clean but needs to be remodeled. The bar by the pool area has several fans that do not work and the ones that do work aren’t turned on all the time. WiFi dropped several times during our stay and then it was changed without notifying the guests.

The staff was very friendly and attentive, the food was great but the property itself needs alot of remodeling and renovations. The staff at breakfast were very polite and sweet. I visited the property about 11 years ago and everything looked the same. The air conditioner in the rooms need to be replaced the staff had to bring a fan to our room, theres alot of mold around the property and rooms, it can definitely use paint. Some of the rooms get leaks in the bathrooms from the ceiling. You used to be able to make dinner reservations with staff but they changed it where you have to use an app which is not user friendly and contains alot of errors, some visitors were not able to make dinner reservations. Tiles in the bathroom are chipping and the faucet to our bathroom would come apart. What saves this hotel is that it is all inclusive and how super sweet and friendly the staff is. Maria and Rosiris from the restaurant and Carlos that helped us with our bags always tended to our needs and made sure to make our stay super comfortable such sweethearted people.

Very overpriced for what it is offered. Food and drinks were awful. Rooms and common areas need to be restored, ceiling had leaks The only good thing was the shows at night. I definitely DO NOT recommend for anyone to stay at this hotel.

Hotel was clean and safe, across the street from the beach which was great. Hotel offers free beach umbrella vouchers, but like restaurant reservations, it's first-come first-served so you have to ask early in the day. Otherwise, it costs $10CAD for an umbrella and 2 basic chairs, which is reasonable. Hotel beach table with free non-alc drinks is super convenient. Lots of \"salespeople\" at the beach, gets annoying to wave them off so often, but great if you want a $2 beer without going back to the hotel.

Some hotel areas and amenities are dated, but clean and everything works. We tipped the maid, and at every meal and each time we were going to sit around for drinks (~$20-30 CAD total tips per day for 2 people, a litltle extra on day 1), and the staff were super friendly and nice.

Very good local food choices at all meals, enough variety, never seemed to run out of anything. Snack bar offers good \"North American\" food choices.

Lots of people try to sell you boat & bus tours. After listenting to about 10 people in the first few days try to sell us the same things, we finally bought a full day private boat tour for our group of 8. It was an amazing day and cost 1.9million COP ($650 CAD).

A couple inconveniences that shouldn't change your mind about staying here:
1. Check in was slow
2. You get 1 physical key per room, so you have to navigate when two people are at different places

Staff was absolutely helpful , they are wonderful! Property is an older building, and their air conditioning system needs to be upgraded or redone, as room never really cools off. We enjoyed their food, service was excellent, kind and carrying staff. Main complain is Air conditioning. Thank you for a great experience ! ❤️

We were in this place 11 years ago and the place was great... Now is horrible... Service was ok, but the place is super old...AC did not work properly. smells bad, the water in the shower didn't drain. The bartenders at the lobby bar, horrible super rude even that I am a good tipper. Some of the staff at the front desk Rude and don't know what they are doing I had to wait for Luis to help me, it was the only nice one. MAIN there is NO beach at front is under construction.

When I check in. I was given a room that was not even cleaned as yet but they gave me to keys to go up.. very disappointed when I went in the room very dirty. Very small, no closet space. The water barely ran to take a shower. The staff, very difficult to speak too because of the language barrier. Food was not great. You had to make reservations to eat breakfast, dinner and lunch very difficult because when you call to make reservations no on answers the phone.

Either Expedia or the Hotel fail to inform us about requiere documentation (other than Government issue ID cards) for checking when traveling with children so the checking process was long and stressful, which thanks to the collaboration and good attitude of the staff was possible. Other wise I would have cancelled and go to a different hotel. The hotel have different dinning options in the all inclusive but their reservation system is a nightmare. When you are on vacations the last thing you want to do is have to wake up early to try to ge online to try to reserve your restaurant spot for breakfast, lunch and dinner before the website crash. This was something that could also be inform and take care of prior arrival or don’t use any RVP system at all.

Lack of communication and unprofessional front desk staff, the other staff was great, I believe they need to work on their communication better for their guest especially for people that are not from that country! To be all inclusive that food wasn’t that great, I should have stayed at the Hilton.
No mini fridge no ice machine, only one roll of toilet paper it’s ridiculous. Lack of communication regarding the pool towels there is no staff on site after 6pm if you do not physically hand the towels to the staff they will not let you check out, they closed the front doors on me like I wanted to steal their towels they would have known if staff member that was present the next days saw towels on their area they could have run the cameras to see what guests Turned in their towels not hold them hostage! Unprofessional!!! I would advice read a book on how to communicate better and be more professional. Communication is an important key in any business that you run!!! Very disappointing, I’m on vacation not there to tell you to watch the cameras and see. That’s YOUR job not mines!

My group and I had a nice time. There is one suggestion I would like to make. There should be a requirement that your employees have a working command of the English language. There should be more than a handful of people who can communicate with your English speaking guests. The entertainment was all in Spanish. My group had a nice time because we had someone who spoke Spanish fluently.

We came early to the hotel, we know checking is at 3 pm but they do not give the bracelet until room is available, so was unable to eat in the hotel and we have to go out to the nearby restaurant to buy food, room as able at 5 pm. We got vacations to other places and if we are early always have bracelet they hold the luggage and we can eat in the buffet. Well this was a very bad experience .

Worse hotel I had been, the experience was nothing of what I had expected, I been to Decameron before in Panama City and it was way different. I would never recommend this hotel ever again. The WiFi was only in the lobby and from the 5 days I was there the internet was down 4 days, you would have to make reservation for dinner or else you wouldn’t be able to eat.

Horrible check in forgot to print the Expedia voucher and at 6pm no guest computer(closed) was send to an Internet cafe which was also closed. When I returned I was asked to email it but no luck an 1 1/2 later they took me to an office next to check in and a 2 min later which took me to sign in a print the voucher they had what they needed it. I woundered why they did not do that from the beginning. Checkin staff not helpful and rude.

Cartagena experience magicali would go back in a heart beat but not to this hotel. Many negative factors not just with checking.

Not what I expected.

I'm not a picky traveler. But I want if I pay- the customer service is horrible at the front desk and all around. I think it might be a culture thing. But they have to understand that they have to treat the guest a bit better. I've traveled all over and this country by far has been the most disappointing. The food was ok. The room didn't always get done. Provided very few towels.
Hats off to Joel in the dinning area. He was pleasant and always asking if we needed anything.

Not ready for \"all inclusive\"

I got to the hotel at 5:00 PM and couldn't get anything to eat, because they only offer breakfast an lunch until 3:00 pm. In order to get Dinner you have to make reservations the day before.
There is no swimming pool, since is being renovated. You must take a bus to go somewhere else. I ended up having dinner at a restaurant outside twice. Personnel, however is excellent. Service is great. If I ever went back it would be because of their employees. They made mi feel good.

Don't bother staying at this hotel

What I didn't like.
1. The front desk people very rude and disrespectful at check in.
2. Kept asking for an iron and finally got one on my third day and then I have one out to use it.
3. They use cheap liquor so drinks are horrible. They were so horrible I had to go out everynight to get drinks.
4. They refuse to give you glass cups and give you plastic cups the size of salt and pepper shakers when you order drinks.
3. They only give you two towels.
4. You have to make dinner reservations every other day. The only times they give you are 630pm and 830pm.
5. They only give you one bottle of water for the day. I stay at hotels all over the world and I never had this problem.
6. Even though they give you free Wifi it's slower then AOL and you have to log back in every single time. It's is also only offered in the lobby.
7. The pool area is very small and it's just looks dirty. No one comes around to pick up used cups.
8. They don't have stools around the bar area.
9. You can't leave the hotel without some trying to sell you fake Cubans and T-shirts.
10. Not related to the hotel, but I was short changed many times by vendors and bars. Make sure you have correct change. They even charged me more for a beer and told a Colombia couple they gave me the grongo price.
11. You have to share tables with complete strangers when you eat your meals. You don't even do that when you vacation in Mexico.
12. The elevators are hott, very slow.

The beach is public the pool is smaller than my at home for 257 rooms this it a motel 8 do you know towels old the bed harder than the floor the air conditioner we cant control the food nothing new the bar open at 6pm and only the pool bar is open the chair for the beach are regular plastic we can lay down on it expedia is a fraud I and will tell everybody at work I work with a airlines and will put your reputation down you should send a agent to hotels and rate then before sale then my worse vacation in 18 years ,my aniversary expedia ruin my vacation 1,570.00 for a motel you should send me half of my money

The place needs a total overhaul. It is like a zoo with people running through the lobby loudly and recklessly. beach is not private. pool is embarrassingly small. stage for show is too small. Hotel room was outdated had no window to open and had moldy smell. Air conditioner could not be self regulated. Common areas and elevators are wet due to peoples wet feet and bathing suits. Food during day and afternoon marginal. Evening food is excellent at restaurants. Show performers are excellent. it was a long 5 days.

A two star All Inclusive Hotel and Resort at best.

1. Does not have direct access to the beach. The beach area consists of a poorly maintained bar and tents. Of course, if you want to use one you have to drag a cheap dirty plastic chair. We opted to rent a tent next to the hotel because it had two cheap plastic chaise launges
2. After spending a full day at the beach we came back to our room at 4pm to shower, rest and get ready for an early dinner and found out our room was still not cleaned. We called and asked for someone to come in and clean our room, no apologies or explanations were given.
3. The restaurans in the hotel are 2 star at best. their menu is very limited and caters to the locals. I spent 5 days at this hotel and every day I found myself with the same options like rice and beans, chicken dishes, and other colombian dishes. About their restaurants ..you have to make reservations wich is normal for resorts, but in this hotel you have to get up before 8am to make sure you get a timeslot you want. We tried the seafood restaurant and was very dissapointing, very limited I guess they spend more on fish that is cheaper than on other seafood; of course, you will not find calamari, lobster or any of that.

To sum up, I loved Catrtagena but would not stay at this hotel if I go back to this city

Excellent choice if you like an all inclusive hotel

We really enjoyed our stay, the staff are very welcoming and helpful at anything being asked. The entertainment provided and daily events surrounding the pool area are excellent, don't miss out on this free entertainment. The only thing that we disliked was the constant pressure of re-booking the hotel for future stays, but they will leave you alone if you respectfully tell them to do so.

Decameron All-Inclusive: Disappointing

First of all I should say that the Decameron is not a bad hotel. The amenities are endless, the security is tighter than Fort Knox and the views from the upper floors are breathtaking. That being said, for the price that I paid I was expecting a little more from the room in the way of creature comforts. There was no A/C in the room, the bathroom was small and cramped, the decoration was minimal. Basically it was a bare room with the essentials thrown in. Once again I'd like to reiterate that I expected more for the price, if it had been more reasonable I would not have been so critical.

Love my Decamerons

Although I seemed to be the only english speaking guest at the Decameron in Cartagena Colombia, I was looked after very graciously! I have stayed at the Royal Decameron Flamingos in Puerto Vallarta three times this last year and prefer this chain of hotels.
The hotel was very clean, my room was clean and comfortable. I found the bed alittle hard but nothing to really complain about. The views from the hotel are outstanding as it is right on the beach. I found the food delicious even though it is different than what we generally eat in Canada. It's good to be open to new experiences culinary wise
My only suggestion would be to have a bottle of water in the room itself in addition to the water cooler in the hallways.
The Bartender Roy was a gem. I like bloody marys and he made a special effort to find the ingredients to make them and then he delivered them to my poolside chair. excellent service, thank Roy!
Check in and out flowed smoothly and I felt safe during my stay

Wonderful hotel!

Everything was excellent. The rooms were clean, the staff was amazing, it's across the street from the beach, the food is wonderful. It's a perfect hotel for any type of vacation or getaway - families, couples, friends, people of all ages were enjoying themselves. We loved it.

Probably the worse hotel of the chain....

Although we were welcomed earlier than the 3PM check in. However, to get a Room Lock key (Which is necessary and THE HOTEL charges extra for....) took us ~ 5 Hrs.... It is a complete disorganization chaos the front desk... No one knows anything.... (Including the management.). They just turn their back at you and let you talking by yourself...

Hotel sponsored tours were a mess. They did not inform the operator of reservations and they left us and at least 2 more couples without the tours we purchased.

Manager tried to help, but there's not really much he could do....

Anything you do takes 5, 6 signatures and a bunch of paperwork.

The pool is extremely small for the size of the hotel. Operates only 8am to 6pm.

Going outside is asking to have at least 5-6 people trying to sell every sort of things things and services. (I saw a lot of people stranded waiting for these services that never happened..PURE SCAM)). Saying 'NO' only make them follow you around, until you either get into a cab or get back to the hotel.

The bad stinks so bad my wife decided to sleep in the floor. The Management was notified. The pillows and bed clothes they brought smelled even worse....

the food was OK. Not perfect, but good. Service for dinner sucks. You have to make reservations early in the morning to try to get the food you like. Otherwise, you have to get whatever is left. If you are seafood allergic and that's what's available, then.... Too bad. There's no other options to eat after 6PM. The bar is open until 2AM, but no food. You will have to go out (face the street vendors and the danger) and eat outside.

Nevertheless, unless you are to choose at 5 star hotel, it is probably the best in the area, and the only one 'almost fully 'ALL INCLUSIVE'. We had to stay an extra night in town, and picked another supposedly 'ALL INCLUSIVE' for an extra night... It made this Hotel look like paradise.....
