We've stayed here twice: in 2023 and 2025. Hotel is just next to Hakata JR station, an excellent location. Many food and shopping establishments within a 10-min radius. AMU Plaza is a major shopping mall within JR Hakata Station. The hotel itself is quite old but well maintained. Overall, an enjoyable stay.

Dated hotel with malfunctioning air conditioning

The room is dated and the temperature control doesn't allow you to set a temperature. The central air conditioning unit has a very high temperature for an April month. My sleeping quality was very bad in my two night stay.

Please also be carefully when booking this hotel as it has smoking room and I had unfortunately booked one without noticing my choice (this is my bad though)

The saving grace of this hotel is the location of Hakata Train Station & self-serve laundry. Honestly, based on other reviews, star ratings, and the cost per night, I expected more - especially for Japan. Walking in, you're immediately hit by a strong aroma of cigarettes and you somehow time-travel back to the 1970s: think mirrored walls & bright carpets.Check-in was fair although deperatly underwhelming.The first room we were given was a smoking room & I think the amount of nicotine on the walls & soaked into the curtains was the equivalent of huffing a pack of Malborough in one sitting. In fairness, they did move us to a non-smoking room on request, with zero hesitation. This next room was a little better but still had a strong cigarette odour. The curtains were fixed in place which allowed little natural light so we had to manage with artificial office-style lighting. The \"couch\" was akin to a piece of plywood covered with old and stained material, the wardrobe had about 2 years' worth of dust on the ledges, one bed was so soft you dropped a floor when getting into it whereas the other was the other half of the plywood from the couch. My husband located the fridge in the wardrobe and even after hours, items were lukewarm at best. The bathroom smelled like damp laundry, although I did get a chuckle out of the mustard-coloured sink & toilet. I'm not a germapho but let's just say, I tried to touch as little as possible. I hate giving sh*tty reviews but just dont with this one

The hotel is very dated. There is a strong musky smell in the room. The beds are extremely hard, almost like the floor. The rooms are well equipped with strong air conditioning. The good points about this hotel is the pricing and the unbeatable location near to Hakata Subway and the taxi stand.

Clio Court hotel has an excellent location in Fukuoka. The building entrance looked very grand with the reception area very modern but the room itself was poorly decorated in
a dull brown and generally outdated.

다음에도 또 방문하려고요

트윈룸 썼는데 방 짱 넓어요. 좀 오래된 호텔이라 인테리어 옛스러운데 오히려 좋고 현관에 전체제어스위치는 없어요. 청소 잘 되어있고 나름 단열 방음 잘되어있는것 같아요. 일본호텔은 봄여름에도 자다보면 추운데 그런거 못느꼈고 에어컨도 잘나와요. 어매니티 따로 주는건 별로 없지만, 다회용 샴푸, 린스, 바디워시, 핸드솝 있고 기본칫솔같은건 다 제공됩니다.
위치 하카타역 그 자체고 방이 워낙 넓어서 캐리어 네개 다 펼치고 지냈습니다.

This hotel has the best location right next to the Hakata Station. We had two twin beds on the 6th floor. The hotel is a little old but very clean. They provided delicious green tea and coffee with a hot water pot in the room. Shower worked well and they provided many amenities. Overall, a great value.

we are returnees to this property due to its location very near the Hakata station. We also loved the wonder fun breakfast buffet spread in the past bu unfortunately the selections have been altered and reduced. we are elderly and have some health issues but the hotel staff refused to call a cab to the hotel front to ease baggage loading, instead was told to take baggage to Hakata station and catch a cab there, did not provide or offer assistance. The distance to the Cab area aprox 150 yds and it was a difficult endeavor to shell 3 pcs of luggage that distance

overall location is fantastic but service was not so good. front desk did not provide complimentary breakfast vouchers until i was told i needed one the next morning. Also wasnt able to explain that there was a running taxi stand and we did not need to call a taxi when we requested them to assist in booking one. needed good understanding on japanese manners to understand front desk. will not recommend.

Unfortunately, the buffet breakfast, which featured an excellent selection of Japanese items, has been discontinued. Fortunately, the Deitos Annex across the taxi/bus parking lot has several restaurants that offer very good Japanese breakfasts for very reasonable prices.

Right next to Shinkansen station and subway. Large room, compared to other hotels at same price. Showing its age a little but bath, shower etc. all good. TV and internet connection average, charging facilities poor. But who cares when the room size is four or five times larger than the modern chain-style hotels. ♡

Hotel is conveniently located on the outside of the main entrance of Hakata station since we use the trains. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and clean. They are dated. The staff was very well trained and courteous. I will stay again on my next visit. Solid 3.5 star hotel.

One Night Stay Before Flight from Fukuoka Airport

This hotel was conveniently located just outside of the Hakata train station and close to Fukuoka Airport, which was nice since we had an early morning flight the next day. It was also very close to lots of restaurants and shops, so we were able to get something to eat within a very short walking walking distance. The complimentary bottled water was very much appreciated, too. We would definitely stay here again if needed!

This hotel is perfect if you need a place close to the shin station ans subway. Its literally right outside of Hakata station. We needed to catch a flight the next day and took the subway which is also located next to the hotel and it takes you right to the airport. The room was clean and the location was perfect. Highly reccommend for people need a hotel and have to transit in the morning

To set things straight,our stay at Hotel Clio was free of problems and convenient. So I guess these are the only two aspects I've based on to give an average review.
As far as asthetics and comfort is concerned, I'll rate it below average. This hotel IS old. I believe it was built in 1976 (that makes it 42 years standing). The furniture is outdated and the toilet is distasteful what with the green spinach or yellow tamago tiles! Surely they were popular back in the 70s. It seems that the hotel went through a renovation in 2003, but it beats me as to where the uplifting went. Honestly I couldn't even set my feet on the floor in our room, instinctively I kept my bedroom slippers on on every inch of the room.
I believe there are better choices around, and unless the convenience to Hakata station is of paramount importance to you, it would be nice to come back to the present and leave the old in the past.

I've stayed at many hotels in Japan, but this one was the nicest. Very room by Japanese standards and modern. I had booked two nights at two different times and, because of availability of rooms, ended up having two different kinds of rooms. This meant I would have to check out after my first night, wait until cleaning was done, then move to my second room. The desk clerk understood my dilemma and found an even better room that was available for both nights, at no additional charge. My only quibble was the 2nd floor restaurant.

The location couldn't have been better - I stayed for 1 night after arriving at Fukuoka airport then caught a train to Nagasaki in the morning.
The room was spacious and the bed was ok despite being firmer than I would chose.
I was happy to see vegan options on the breakfast buffet such as natto, tofu and rice.

This hotel experience was extremely disappointing and not worth recommending.
First, we were given a smoking room despite clearly requesting a non-smoking room during the booking. The room was filled with an overwhelming smell of smoke, which was completely unacceptable, especially for non-smoking guests. I even tried using an air freshener, but it didn’t help at all.

Second, the ventilation system in the room was completely useless. Whether we turned on the heater or the fan, there was no airflow at all. The room temperature was close to 30°C, making it impossible to sleep. I woke up drenched in sweat, and the air in the hallway was better than in the room.

The most disappointing part was the staff’s attitude. When we reported these issues, they showed no willingness to resolve them and simply dismissed us with \"No, no, no.\" Even simple requests, like borrowing a fan or an air purifier, were outright rejected, showing a lack of respect for the guests’ needs.

The only positive aspect of this hotel is its convenient location, but other than that, it’s a complete disaster. If you’re looking for a comfortable stay, avoid this hotel at all costs, or it will ruin your trip.
