We've stayed in \"nice\" hotels around the world. The lobby of The Basics is stunning. One of the most beautiful hotel spaces we've seen. Our room was comfortable with a very good bed and some terrific features such as ambient lighting. However, our room lacked a dresser for unpacking our clothes. There were no safety bars in the shower. The provided slippers and sleeping clothes did not fit, even though we are not large people. The staff could not provide properly sized items. We had an upgraded room, which included \"club level\" privileges. The club room is pleasant, although not up to the standards of so many others. There is no service staff available. Very limited self-service beverage options and no breakfast or special food offerings. The beautiful rotunda lobby has massive bookshelves containing a wonderful, eclectic assortment of books, all available for your reading or perusal. Artwork abounds in this hotel. Check out the fabulous series of porcelain dolls on the second floor. We had breakfast in their dining room, and the menu was a mix of Western and Japanese dishes. It was OK. It's a short walk from the train station with many food choices in the neighborhood. Although the very best restaurants in Fukuoka are at least a ten-minute or more cab ride away.

A very modern and stunning hotel locating at a friendly and beautiful neighborhood. Very helpful staff and they did recognized your Expedia grade! Room is comparatively spacious as compared to traditional Japanese hotel. A walkable distance to the Hakata Train Station and they do offer free parking !

We had a memorable stay in Fukuoka and the hotel experience plays a large part in it. The rooms are modern, big and clean. The hotel is a 5 minute walk to Hakata station. Convenient location and at the same time quiet neighbourhood. There is a coffee shop beside the hotel. Our rooms come with a lounge access, which is a great way to regroup and unwind at the end of the day.

The lobby is gorgeous! Staff helpful and gracious. Concierge helped us book reservations for kid’s haircuts. They also helped with luggage delivery service and accepted credit cards for payment. You had to scan a qr code and enter the info and they would measure and weigh your luggage to determine the cost. We had a a clean and spacious room. There was a illy coffee maker in the room but no convenient outlets other than the extension cord where the tv was plugged in. There were tea bags but no kettle. Microwave was by the front desk. No coin laundry facilities but provided laundry service. They had moisturizer and cleanser provided at the front desk. Other amenities like toothbrush, comb, qtips, cotton pads, pajamas, and slippers were all in the room. They provided kids’ slippers and toothbrushes also. Note that there was no body lotion but no big deal as there was a drug store 3 minutes by foot. Great location with a family mart right next to it and a cafe that had really good coffee. It was less than a 10 minute walk to hakata station-actually felt more like 5 minutes. Numerous cafes nearby. Overall great stay!

Spacious and clean rooms in a beautifully designed hotel, perfect for books lover but probably not for international guest who do not read Japanese. Receptionist not as eloquent in English and did not know about any “Expedia VIP access” such as free parking only until we explained. No service beverage for guest like most traditional hotels in Japan, bottled water are only provided to match number of adults and charged at ¥200 each. We travelled as 2 adults and 2 children, only 2 bottles of water provided, better could be done in this aspect.

The hotel lobby is impressive, featuring towering bookshelves, comfortable lounge seating, and a thoughtfully curated collection of Japanese books for guests to enjoy. It is a highly Instagrammable space and creates a strong first impression.

The staff are generally helpful, particularly with luggage storage before and after check-out, as well as assisting with calling a taxi to the airport. However, a more prompt and proactive welcome would enhance the overall guest experience.

The rooms are indeed small and basic. While the bookshelf-themed wallpaper adds some character, the overall design could be improved, even considering the limitations of the circular architectural layout. Ventilation in the rooms could be better, and the rooms would benefit from a fresher smell. A humidifier is provided instead of the standard air purifier commonly found in many hotels.

The bathroom feels cramped, and in one of the rooms there was a noticeable smell of urine and mould during showering. This may be due to the shower curtain or wall surfaces and detracts from comfort and cleanliness.

In terms of location, the hotel is approximately a 10-minute walk from Hakata Station when carrying luggage, which is manageable. However, it is located on the opposite side of the station, making it about a 25-minute walk to Canal City and the Aeon Express supermarket.

Overall clean room, great staff, and wonderful amenities such as free bottle of water everyday. Loved how we had thw option to choose the degree of room cleaning and/or clean towels.
The only issue was a mold/mildew like smell in the bathtub/shower room. The drain area may need somw inspection and cleaning to remove the smell.

I booked the executive room with lounge access, even though the room is about 500 sq feet, but it looks small because both the bathroom and the closet were big, so the main room area seems small. On top of that, there was no drawers to put our clothes, so we ended up having our luggages opened inside the big closet the whole time. The executive lounge was just ok, mainly to grab a drink, but I have to say the breakfast buffet was pretty decent.

We chose this hotel largely because it offered on-site parking (and western breakfast). Although parking was first-come, first-served and could not be reserved in advance, they seemed to have more stalls available overall than other properties. The parking lot had ample available stalls and was easy for us to find at night. In the morning, we walked a bit to the convenience stores in either direction as the city woke up, then we enjoyed a delicious on-site restaurant breakfast with plenty of options to choose from. The food was very acceptable for us (can’t go wrong with bread, cereal and milk, and juice), as traditional western/USA breakfast eaters. Check-in and checkout were both quick and easy. The room itself was a great size, and they offered (and installed in advance) a bed rail for co-sleeping with kids. Overall a great experience.

I was pleasantly surprised with the contemporary architecture and decor of the property. Very well appointed and the guest rooms are large and very nice. I especially liked the shower and separate tub.

Unfortunately the fitness center is sparce and could use a few more machines or weights. I also wish they would offer towels at the fitness center and had a hot bath.

Great convenient location near to Hakata Station and many dining options and so much shopping selections.

Overall the stay was very good. Hotel and area was very convenient. My only issue was…they would not sell me more coffee kcups. I drink about 4-5 cups daily…and when I went to front desk to purchase more receptionist would not accommodate. She said; they could not sell and visitors were allowed 2 daily. These are special illy kcups and weren’t available to purchase in any grocery or convenient stores.

The hotel lobby is big and grand, with convenient stores within 1-2 minutes of walk. There is a small park across the hotel. It is walking distance to the JR Hakata via the main road.

There is a small carpark available at the basement. There are limited parking lots and space, especially for a larger vehicle.

The staff were welcoming and the check-in process was smooth. We like how spacious the room is with places to put our shopping bags, luggages and walking space.

The breakfast serves mainly Japanese food with only a few non-Japanese dishes like siew mai. We like it as we get to try on local dishes instead of the usual international selection.

Overall, we had an enjoyable stay.

The room was quiet, clean, and had space enough to relax and be able to repack our suitcases before our flight back home to America. Staff was kind and helpful as well. Very pretty and instagramable hotel. Booked the chapter 3 corner unit and was large and comfortable for 2A and 2C. Was able to open up 3 luggages and still sufficient space to move around.

We did not opt in hotel breakfast but had breakfast at the local stand cafe outside the hotel and the experience was very good. We were served by 2 very kind Japanese ladies who were so kind to our young kids.

Cons:

1. Not enough hanging space in the hotel room, esp the bathroom.
2. Location is rather far from main station and the returning journey to airport is quite troublesome for family with young children (if one decides not to use taxi).
3. The movable shower head that was in our room (stayed in 436) was cracked and magnifying glass light was spoilt. Showed a lack of ownership and sense of urgency to repair the items.
