My fourth stay during last four months. Yet, the young man in reception couldn’t find my data. Well, no big deal.
As always nice comfy room with all necessities, as well as an excellent location.
I was in a hurry to my meeting so I didn’t visit the bathroom until late when I returned to the hotel.
A bit of a shock when I saw the toilet rim was brownish like someone had…..you know what…..on the rim.
Disgusting……
I checked, but probably it was some kind of discoloration, but still not a very pleasant sight.
I didn’t tell the reception, because it was late and unfortunately I forgot to tell them when I checked out the following morning due to I was late for my train.
Despite the incident in the bathroom, this is (still) my preferred hotel in Darmstadt….I think.
Finally, to whom it may concern…please check the bathroom in room 214.

Service was not good from the start, but the major thing is that you weren't able to help me with my last night that I cancelled! I understand that you have rules but you can help put if you really want. I stayed 2 of 3 nights of my booking.
This will make that I will never recommend your hotel, I will never stay again. So you may have saved a night on my cost but I will never come back again and I'm in the city once a month and will off course not recommend your hotel.

The terrible lady in reception

The hotel had no food/roomservice except for eventual breakfast. You could not get lunch or dinner at the hotel. They had nothing to chew on. They had an empty minibar, and the bar was not manned all times.The staff was polite except for ONE. She wouldn´t say hello when all the other did this at all times. She did not open the door to us by pressing the button before we give her our room number through intercom. It was heavy rain and we couldn´t just remember the room number at that second, we got all wet cause of her, terrible lady. I´m 37 years old and I spend almost 70 nights at hotels every year, I have never experienced a worse staff at any hotel in any country.

The hotel was good but unfortunately the air conditioning had broken down throughout the whole hotel and was unlikely to be repaired until at least the end of June I was told.
This made it very hot with 29 degree temperatures outside.
Having to have the windows open caused noise from the busy main line railway as the hotel overlooks the railway station, so sleep was very limited due to the noise and the heat.

Booked an executive room; it was on the top floor of the hotel. After checking into the room (approximately 6pm) we noticed it was very warm. I contacted the front desk and was assured the air conditioning was on. As we left for dinner I requested that they have engineering check our air conditioning as the room didn’t seem to be cooling off. We The room overlooked the main train station so leaving windows open was not acceptable.
Upon returning to our room it had not cooled at all. The clerk found us a room on a lower floor, a downgraded class with one window.
It quickly became obvious that this t very was no better. Additionally, this hotel does not have portable fans.
I asked to speak to a manager, and was contacted by one who was at home. Indifferent seemed to be the attitude.
Eventually they moved to the first floor, ended up leaving the window open, and got very little sleep.
This situation could have been avoided had I been informed the air conditioning was off ion my initial inquiry. I would have gotten a room at a different hotel. As it was, this situation was ‘resolved,’ unsatisfactorily, at around 11pm.
I don’t know if it’s fair to blame the hotel, Orr the booking site, however, it left a very negative impression. The downgraded room isn’t the source of the rating, though they felt no refund of the rate was due

What i didn't like for $246.00 the TV had no HDMI connection. The parking was expansive for the hotel. If you wanted to check out early you didnt get refunded the money for the day you didnt stay. There was dust behind the television. The air conditioner didnt work properly. There was no iron in the room. Paying for a standard room that much is still too much. The staff was great other than that. The price wasn't worth it.

Have stayed here before -- still grate. Nice room, clean and confortable, minifrigde, coffee maker. Big breakfast buffet every morning. Geared towards business travelers, next to the Darmstadt main train station and is transit hub. The hotel provides a tram/bus pass for the Darmstadt area for free so it is a snap to get around town. My room overlooked the train lines but was more or less noise free.

The hotel was nice - very modern and comfortable. They had a little trouble with their key card system, so they weren't able to give me a key for the first few hours I was there. They let me into my room and gave me a card to power the lights, but it was still a bit of a downer. Still, I enjoyed the hotel. Parking was 12 Euro, which wasn't too bad . They hotel gave a pass for public transportation in Darmstadt, which was nice. It was located in very favorable position, next to the train station and just three tram stops from City Center.

Nice basic hotel very well located by the main railway station in Darmstadt. The room was fine if compact, but very clean and everything worked. There is some noise from the trains at the back of the hotel which may bother light sleepers, but I don't think the trains run all night. The breakfast buffet wasn't bad, although not a huge bargain at €15. The lady at the check in was a little miserable although efficient. The reception can also provide free travel passes to use on the city's tram system which stops very close to the hotel.

Visiting Frankfurt Messe

We booked the Inter City Hotel in Darmstadt as we were late booking our hotel for the Frankfurt Fair and it was difficult to find a Hotel in the City. There was a Bus at the Airport that took us straight to Darmstadt main Train Station for Euro 8-60 and the Hotel was right next to the station so that was easy and then it was only a 15 minute train journey in to the City. It was so easy we intend to make this the Hotel of our choice for future Fairs in Frankfurt.

The Hotel also gives you a free pass to use the local Transport and with the Trams stopping right outside the Hotel it was easy to take a Tram to the Centre Square to find a Restaurant.

I also left something in my room and the Staff were very helpful in finding it and putting it somewhere safe.

Intercity Hotel Darmstadt is 2 minutes walk from the Hauptbahnhof in Darmstadt, in fact it backs on to the rail lines but is very quiet in the bedrooms.

No in-house restaurant however there are various snack bars and restaurants within a few minutes walk. Breakfast is a typical German/Continental style buffet -- very good coffee!

The bedroom was neat, clean and comfortable, a good size for one or two people for a short stay.

Very good feeling, the front desk staff were very friendly and supportive. I spent two nights but didn’t have breakfast due to my early morning engagements. Located right at the train station which was excellent for movement within and without the city. On the low side is the Provision of only one bath and hand towel. A single pillow on the bed seemed to me as strange, though I got an extra one from the staff when I complained.

Spent six nights here on a business trip. Excellent room with wonderful view of station - surprisingly quiet despite overlooking busy rail tracks. I did not eat in the hotel at all, but the buffet breakfast looked good. Would have no hesitation about staying here again, and will be booking in again in a few weeks' time.

Because this hotel is a new hotel and the room insulation is very good, I did not hear any noise when I stayed there for 3 nights. My room has two big windows. From one window I could see the railway tracks and from the other window I could see the square in front of train station. I believed that I got one of the best standard rooms of this hotel.

Best little hotel in Darmstadt

I have to say that the InterCity Hotel in Darmstadt exceeded my expectations for another year. It is the perfect location for those of you that want to be in Frankfurt but don't want to pay the Frankfurt prices.

Starting with my check in, early check in in need to add, right after a long flight from Toronto. Without hesitation or any question, my room was provided where I was able to recover and clean up.

The staff we 5-star all the way. Attentive and accommodating from the start every question answered, every requested responded to. A special thank you to Anna, Michael, and Antony. The entire hotel crew was professional through and through.

If you are looking for a 5-star experience right next to uncomplicated and easy transportation, look no further than the InterCity Darmstadt.

One final note; the only thing better than the staff, was the Managment. A special thank you goes out to Mrs. Nöke, a Consummate professional.

Business-oriented, modern hotel at train station

Stayed for three nights for a conference in Darmstadt. Clean, modern hotel with lots of business people during the week. Next to the hauptbahnhof for the town and the transit hub but not the usual dingy train station kind of area -- try the Darmstadter Brauhof across the street for a good brewpub with traditional food. The hotel provided a free pass for the bus and tram system for Darmstadt for the duration of my stay -- the hotel is a little away from the center of town so this was a real plus. Staff is very friendly and happy to speak English. The breakfast buffet was good with a wide range of warm and cold foods and a good coffee machine. The only issue is that one side of the hotel faces the train tracks and the other faces the street. The windows are sealed against the noise but get a street-side room if you are a light sleeper.

This is a fairly nice, modern Hotel located right next to the main train station in Darmstadt. The main reason I like this hotel is its location. There are taxis available at the train station at all hours of the day, and you can easily take a train to anywhere in Frankfurt or the surrounding area. Breakfast at this hotel is delicious. The only negative thing I have to say is that I checked in about an hour early and then after I checked out, I noticed an extra $30 charge on my credit card. I called the hotel and was told it was because I checked in early. No one at the front desk told me they would be charging me an extra $30 for early check-in. I understand the charge, but I wish they would have told me about it when I checked in.

Very Convenient

There are a few excellent things about this hotel. The location is perfect, right by the Darmstadt Hauptbahnhof (main train station) but with minimal train noise. This makes taking a train to anywhere in the Frankfurt area easy, and also ensures constant access to taxi cabs. It's a new building with central heating and air conditioning in every room. The breakfast is also wonderful, it's amazing how the good breakfast makes the whole rest of the day better. I highly recommend this hotel to everyone. This is the best place to stay in the Darmstadt area.

Basic hotel, good for a business trip

I'm not sure how the InterCityHotel qualifies as a 4 star hotel. It's not bad at all. It just covers the basics. It's like a Holiday Inn equivalent, but with smaller rooms and better breakfast.

The room was smaller than a typical hotel, but nevertheless, clean bed and bathroom. If WiFi is required, definitely pay the daily fee. The \"free\" WiFi is barely functional. There is soap provided but it's a body/hair/hand soap, so if you need more specific products, I'd recommend bringing your own. Unfortunately, the water heater was broken the first day, so the showers were freezing cold (but on the upside, it prepared my coworkers and I for the current outside winter weather).

Not a bad stay. Just not a very good one.

Excellent for travelling without a car. Free ticket for bus and tram, which goes directly to the city center in a few minutes. Ticket valid as far as Grube Messel. Right next to train station, still not noisy as there are good windows, and not a bad area. Nice, modern design. Very good breakfast buffet.

Nice Hotel, Good Location

This is a nice, new hotel in a very convenient part of Darmstadt. The convenience comes as a result of being located right next to the main train station (but with virtually no train noise), which is also the hub for other forms of public transportation and taxis. It's easy to get here from the Frankfurt airport, and easy to get around the Frankfurt area from here. The Hotel itself is nice, clean and well maintained. The beds are comfortable and the showers are good. I arrived about an hour before the normal check in time and they did not charge an early check in fee. There is free wifi but it is slow, enough to check email but watching a video is rough. Fast wifi is available for a few euros extra. Breakfast is excellent. I like this hotel.

The hotel is next to the train station which is also the main tram and bus hub including the coach from Frankfurt station 30 minutes away. Despite backing on the railway the bedrooms were quiet. The hotel is close to the city centre about 15 minute walk or 5 minutes with the free travel pass the hotel provides.

Bedrooms are a good size and very clean but a bit lacking in some areas. The bed was ok but the pillow had no support and the towels were thin.

Breakfast is ok with a good selection of hot and cold food.

I only needed one night without breakfast and was there with my car, so can't say much. Parking was EUR12, which I found far too much. Receptionists were very friendly and efficient. Room was very clean and nice, also surprisingly quiet, although my room was facing the railway station.Bathroom very clean - spotless in fact.
If you want to park you've got to drive into a car lift and park in a secluded car park next to the railway. When you're at the car park, there is a door that takes you back into the hotel. I was unlucky that, at about 22:30 noone answered the door and I had to find my way back to the front of the hotel, which looked tricky. A friendly man showed me the way. I did tell reception and they apologised.

Clean, comfortable, basic business hotel

Just needed to stay one night in Darmstadt to visit a friend. Hotel was incredibly convenient for that. Although it was not in easy walking distance to the city center, it was right next door to the train station and at a hub for tramways and bus lines, with several restaurants nearby. It also was almost brand new, and very clean and modern. And at least up on the 4th floor there was no significant noise from the trains passing next door.

The room was nice and clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. It is a nice place to stay right by the train station, without having to pull heavy bags onto a bus to get to the station. The breakfast room was a bit crowded and noisy but that is to be expected and places like that. you are right by the train station and the public transportation so it was easy to get around without a car.
