The hotel is very clean and had great facilities. The breakfast is also very good. The only thing that lets it down is the WiFi in the rooms. I have stayed here a few times now and the WiFi has not improved. I have mentioned this to the hotel previously. As I use this hotel for business trips this is something that is making me look to other options to stay for my business trips

Won’t book again and I recommend during my stay outside temperature was 11-12 Celsius and I was not able to warm up the room because the hotel administration decided what is a good temperature for the whole hotel and put it on the cooling mode only! It’s next to the railroads and it’s very noisy so noisy that they put earplugs on your bed instead of chocolate !

The room faces the railroad, so it wasn't quiet. However, it wasn't shared in advance. The check-in was not friendly, and we were checked in only after signing the BW hotel membership. No hot oatmeal, as is customary around the world, was served for breakfast.

Nice hotel... but a couple of pointers

Interesting that I have only just seem that I might have been able to use the airport shuttle bus rather than spend £65 getting from the airport to the hotel.

Nice hotel but if you stay there make sure that you avoid a room at the back of the building. High speed trains rattle through every hour of the night. If you are a light sleeper you might be disturbed.

Quick overnight stay while driving south… booked late, just one hour before arrival.

Hotel is a typical business hotel, a bit worn. The floor in the room was incorrectly laid and had raised in all joints which looked and felt weird.

The beds were excellent and the window could be opened for a very good nights sleep.

The parking was ridicously expensive at 18 Euro with no other options availlable in the vicinity.

Breakfast was very nice.

Worst night ever

If you're looking for a place to get a restful night's sleep, Best Western and Plaza hotels are definitely not the places to go.

I learned this the hard way after a recent stay at the Best Western Plaza hotel in Darmstadt. In the middle of the night, we were abruptly awoken by a loud electrical bang. It turns out there was an electrical hazard in the hotel. The noise was so loud that it was impossible to sleep through it (80-90db).

When I spoke to the night receptionist about the situation, he told me to take some ear plugs. The problem wasn't solved until an hour later.

Needless to say, it was a very disruptive and unpleasant experience. When we checked out the next day, the day receptionist was rude when I told him we were unhappy with our stay.

He rudely threw us a free parking ticket and acted like that should be thanking him up for the terrible experience we had.

I would avoid any Best Western or Plaza hotel in the future. If you're looking for a place to stay, it would be better to sleep in your car than stay at one of these hotels.

The hotel was so hot it was unbearable. The ac only works in the summer. The temp in the room had to be 28 degrees. If you opened the window, a train would wake up up about every 7 minutes. I should have realized there was a problem when I found earplugs on the bed at check in. I don’t recommend this hotel.

Breakfast needs a little improvement. Eggs not very good, sausages cold, not a great selection of meats for a German hotel.

Nice room and comfortable. Good service particularly in the bar when ordering my evening meal. Breakfast was a bit confusing in terms of how it was all laid out but receptions staff friendly and helpful. The only thing is if you are on the station side of the hotel, which I was, the trains are pretty loud. I stayed on the other side last time and will remember to ask for a road side room next time.

The hotel itself was very nice and comfortable, but my room was on the back side next to RR tracks and the trains woke me up several times, even though I am a very deep sleeper. I was surprised that parking cost an extra 12€ per night and breakfast was not included and was very expensive at 18€ extra.

To start, I have a problem with hotels claiming they have free Wi-Fi and then only providing speeds that remind you of a 1990s dialup connection. In order to receive \"faster\" speeds, you are required to pay a fee. In 2016, Wi-Fi in a hotel is the same as electricity and water; it needs to be provided and not in limited quantities. If you are considering this hotel and Wi-Fi is a must for you, do not stay here. You would be lucky to load Google's homepage before you had to checkout with these speeds. Moving on to the bathroom, there was a large thick black hair on my towel which was an unpleasant surprise. The water temperature is dreadful, switching from hot to cold with no reason. Taking a shower was like Russian roulette. For the hotel itself, it is nice enough. The rooms are quite large and have nice amenities. The hotel is outdated which can easily be seen by the brick of a TV in the room and It is directly on the train tracks so you have some noise if you are on that side of the hotel. I would not recommend this hotel.

Our experience was not pleasant

The maid did not leave the daily supply of shampoo bottles or soap. We stayed there for 6 nights but for the entire stay, wed DID NOT receive shampoos or soaps. In one occasion I made a note saying \"Please leave shampoo bottle\" and left by the sink and the note was ignored!!! We had to go to the front desk to get the supply.

This hotel is all about the location. It's great if, like me, you were visiting the European Space Agency because it's just across the road. It's smart enough from the outside but room facilities are a little old-fashioned and not quite what you expect. For example, my room was a double but consisted of two single beds pushed together. The TV was also so old, you had to push a button to turn it on. The TV reception and choice of channels were also poor. The lack of free bottled water or any tea/coffee making facilities in the room was also disappointing. As was the absence of any 'Do Not Disturb' sign in my room, which resulted in a maid opening the room door on the second morning and waking me up. One side of the hotel is located right next to railway tracks which are used by early morning freight trains. And they can be noisy. One train woke me up at 6.30am on the first morning with its screeching. So both mornings' sleep were disrupted for different reasons.

Nice place, good location

This is a nice place. The rooms are comfortable, the beds are great. The location is good, within easy walking distance of the main train station which means that it's easy to get anywhere in Frankfurt from this location. There is minimal train noise. It's also easy to get a taxi, and the train station has a lot of low cost food options. The breakfast they serve here is wonderful. For the price, you can't do better than this hotel in Darmstadt.

Check-in went smoothly! Everything was great! But my room wasn't cleaned when I returned the first evening. Don't know if it was because I didn't hang out the sign for ready to clean. But I hadn't managed to mess it up anyway so it really didn't matter. The other days it was nice and tidy when I returned ;) Will probably stay here next time!

Oh, and the room had the windows towards the railroad track, but I really didn't notice it.

Good value for the money

Overall, a good basic hotel, reasonably close to the city. Bus routes and street cars are right out the front door, making travel easy. We also had a rental car--but parking at the hotel is extra. Our room was a bit warm for us--which would have been ok if we could have left the window open at night or if the air conditioning had been turned on. We couldn't leave the window open because the main train station is close and most of the tracks ran just below our window--very loud! Fine with the window closed, and for a lot of people would be happy with the temperature--we like the room on the cool side at night so it was a bit uncomfortable, but not unreasonably so. It is too early in the season for the AC to be on, I imagine in the summer there would be no problem. If you care about the view, you will want the side of the hotel we were on, if you want total quiet, you will want the side away from the tracks. There is a companion to this hotel (Maritim Konference Center) about a block and a half closer into the city that is away from the tracks--don't know what the pricing is there, but that would be perhaps a better choice. A good thing about this hotel is that you really don't need a car unless you are doing distance travel. There is a bus that runs from the airport to the city center, and from there you can ride the street car to the hotel--there is a stop across the street. You would have to carry your luggage a little way, but very doable.

I hated the beds , the staff wasnt helpfull.
I had to carry all my bags by my self to and out of the hotel coz there was no one to do that, the ddnt even give me a troly .
Also room service suked . The only good thing was the cleanless of the room( when we first came only ) after that they ddnt cleane it well we were out . Am never staying in this hotel again

Best place to stay near train station.

Had a wonderful stay at this hotel and icing on the cake was a free upgrade to a suite room!!!
Though I did not have a chance to stay for long (just 2 nights) but I would surely appreciate this gesture. Internet is a problem but they acknowledged the fact and gave Hotspot voucher which you can use for a day with high speeds. Pool is good and also the room amenities.

I was very pleased to have booked into the Maritim, it is beside the Airliner bus stop from the main Frankfurt airport. Also close by rail station. Rooms are a good size, very clean, everything works. Breakfast is fine but pricey at 18 euros. There is another Maritim hotel across the busy main road. Bar is like in Cheers. Come out of hotel front, turn left cross road to Viaopiano.com past restaurant is large and busy, and cheap compared to uk.

Near to Deutsche Telekom

This is a conference hotel near to Deutsche Telekom. There is not much else near by. |It is a couple of hundred yards to the nearest railway station and when the sun shines the restaurant is quite pleasant. However it would be better if they filled and used the fountain in front of the restaurant windows instead of leaving it dry and sad. There is a very good Sunday lunch buffet if you are there on Sunday but in the week the service in the Restaurant is slow and it is expensive. Bar snacks are better value and good simple food. The WiFi worked quite well but there is little reason to visit this hotel if you are not doing business with Deutsche Telekom.

This hotel must have been really modern in 1988, but just a pity it did not change at all since it was built. The good side is that it's comfortable, big rooms with all the amenities you would expect, wifi works, restaurant is good, location is fairly near Hbf, but on the far side of a very busy intersection so sometimes just getting to the tram stop on the other side of the road can take you almost 10 minutes. Staff is friendly. Only downside I would say is that the furnishings are really old and worn, but not dirty or uncomfortable.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel and although it is an older hotel that can do with a style makeover, I still found the rooms to be more comfortable and convenient than most other hotels in Darmstadt. Also the wifi was fast and usable and the restaurant brilliant, except for breakfast. Location is good close to main station and tram stop to town center across the road.

The ancient tube tv in my room didn't work. The chair for the desk was so worn that when you sit down you bottom sinks so far in that your blood circulation is cut off at the legs due to the front wood piece. No ironing board or iron, no coffee machines in the room and no way of getting coffee unless the restaurant downstairs is open. Not even a hot water machine to make instant. Right next to the train station which is bad for sleep but good for travel. Airport transportation to Frankfurt was nice. Very close to EUMETSAT and the city center is not too bad of a walk.

Rooms to hot, no king beds.

The rooms were far to hot and there was no way to cool them other than open the window, if you open the window then you hear all the train noise. you hear nothing with the window closed and everything with it open. Basically the hotel cools in summer and heats in winter so in winter there is no way to cool the room. My so called king bed was in fact 2 singles pushed together which meant i ended up in the gap between the 2 most nights. the good things were, it was quite, close to the train station and very clean. Also good showers nice presure etc... But the heat of the rooms means a low score due to not being able to sleep well due to the heat.
