Food was mint, staff were great, room was fab.
Only very smile gripes would be the breakfast started earlier, it was 8.30 start but as i was working away i left before this and the radiator in my room would not turn down or off, even using the stat. These would not stop me from staying again thoiugh.

Very nice room. Comfy bed. TV reception not great but weather was poor so could be the reason. Room was cold but on searching found a heater in the wardrobe. Lovely staff and great food in the evening. Good breakfast and they accommodated us for an early breakfast as we had a 6 hour drive home and wanted to leave early.

Our second visit to the Blacksmiths Arms. Stayed in room 11 which was one of the little cottages at the rear of the property. Very comfortable room with full length shower in the bathroom. The food was outstanding with a good breakfast selection and delicious evening meals. The staff are very helpful and friendly. There is a bus stop on the main road every half hour to Whitby (via Robin Hood’s bay) and Scarborough in the opposite direction so we were able to leave the car and travel by bus. Would definitely stay again.

We had one of the outside little rooms at the back of pub with double bed and ensuite. 2 nights there and loved the pub the staff and food. Great location for Whitby, Robin Hood bay and Scarborough all in less than 30min drive.

Plenty free parking in car park at rear of hotel, we did not use our car for the three day stay, as bus stop right outside hotel in both directions for Scarborough 10min and Whity 20 min straight fair of £2 each way, so no parking costs which are expensive at £4.40 for two hours.
Would definitely recommend staying here if on the area.

The hotel is absolutely wonderful, we had a lovely welcome, the room is so beautiful, spotless and clean. We loved the four poster bed and the spaciousness of the rooms. We would definitely recommend it.

Really nice place let down by a desperate need to upgrade the decor and fix the plumbing. Whilst we couldn't fault the cleanliness, the water pressure in the shower was little more than a trickle. The decor is very dated. Our room overlooked a surprisingly busy main road which was noisy when the windows were open (a must in the heat, the room was very hot). The pub itself is lovely and a great base for getting around.

Furnished in keeping with the age and style of an old pub but all very clean. My only suggestion for improvement would be to have a larger and more comfortable bed.

Room was cold, wardrobe door didn’t close, one waitress was unco-operative when I requested cheese and biscuits instead of dessert then later served them to the next table. When my husband quietly questioned her about this in the bar when paying the bill, she denied knowing anything about it.

Fantastic overnight stay at Blacksmiths Arms Inn. Large car park , lovely bar and dining area and superb staff. Was made to feel at home from the minute we arrived until we checked out. Room was of good quality and the food at dinner and breakfast was great. All staff were chatty as were the locals in the bar area. Definitely will stay again if in the area in future.

The Blacksmith Arms Inn is a beautiful estate with so much history and character. The owners and staff were all very friendly ready to share stories from long ago including hosting a luncheon for Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip just 10 years ago. Fascinating conversations!
The only con is exiting the grounds. The building is located on a curve and the street is boarded by tall shrubs. During the day it can be very dangerous exiting the parking lot. At night at least you on coming headlights. Be careful!

What a gem of a find and without hesitation would return. The bus stop is literally just outside around the corner where we got the bus to Scarborough for £2 esch way. We did the pub quiz on the Wednesday night for a good cause at only £1 each to enter with a free bowl of chips and a plate of sandwiches. The pub has a great atmosphere and we eat in the pub on the evening. I had home made steak pie with yorkshire puddings to start. The bedrooms are modern and very clean with tea msking facilities in the bedroom. Good selection of beers in the pub. This pub has so much history and even the queen has bern for lunch. The breakfast was excellent, staff are so lovely, polite. We are already looking to go vack. Cloughton is quiet place and just down the road at Seamer is a local chippy. We really enjoyed our stay, nice and quiet for us, great bus links, great food, great staff. What more can i say. A pub steeped in history. Thank you.

Very lovely pub, lots of character and charm, great welcoming staff, easy parking , good breakfast. Issue's was a bit noisy in room 3 in the morning ( cleaning, staff, emptying bottles ) and the saniflow system in the bathroom gets annoying after a while. Stayed for 3 nts and over all very good.

We stayed for 3 nights in room 9 which is a ground floor room at the rear of the property, next to the car park. The room consisted of a lobby area with a bathroom and bedroom off the lobby. The room was very comfortable, clean and tidy and met our needs as my husband has mobility problems and cannot manage stairs. We booked bed and breakfast but also dined in every evening. The food was outstanding and the staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. The inside of the inn is very characteristic and well presented. There are bus stops close by with a service to both Whitby and Scarborough every 30 minutes which meant we didn’t have to use the car. Found this by chance but would definitely stay again.

This is such a lovely little find. A great village pub with character. Close to the coast for the Cleveland Way or the Cinder Track cycle way. Close to Scarborough, Ravenscar and Whitby. The North Yorkshire Moors national park is right on the doorstep so the perfect spot if you want to spend time hiking, cycling or exploring this beautiful part of Yorkshire. The food was excellent especially the full English breakfast, superb. Our room ( 11 ) was poor, cramped, with only room for a 4’ 6” bed of poor quality. It had old fashioned furniture and very little floor area. It had long standing cobwebs above eye level.

Stayed in room 8 which was not in the main house but in a building behind next to the car park. The room was small but clean with comfortable beds. The wifi was very poor. We couldn't connect to our room wifi so the landlord gave us the password for the room next door. This cut out every evening which was frustrating. Breakfast was a choice of full English, cereals and yogurt with tea/coffee/juice.

Lovely Stay in Scalby
Not knowing this Inn at all, I was unsure what to expect, but can say that the service was friendly, the food was very nice, we chose to eat here both nights of our stay and all the meals were large, and lovely. The had a birthday party going on whilst we were there, this never interfered with our stay at all, the party was away from the main bars and we had a really nice time. Room was a good size, comfortable and other than a few steps that we needed to navigate to get to them, the whole experience was seamless. There is a bus stop just outside which will take you in to Whitby, and just slightly down the road on the same side is a bus into Scarborough. This is ideally located for a few days visiting the area.

We stayed here for 2 nights. The room was clean, spacious and comfy. On our arrival we were given a brief history of the building and its Royal connection, this was very entertaining and informative. We only ate 1 evening meal here which with hindsight was a mistake, should have eaten here both nights. Food was amazing as well as being reasonably priced, with plenty of choice. Breakfast was yummy too. A lovely place to stay.

Our room was self contained and part of an annexe close to the inn. Therefore we enjoyed privacy as well as easy access to food and drink. Our evening meal was of very good quality, as were the ales. A full breakfast was included, and yes, it did set us up for the day. We walked off the effects of the car journey by going on the Cleveland Way, with dramatic views of the sea. Scarborough was a mixed bag, but well worth a visit. The Golden Grid restaurant did not disappoint. Our room was comfortable and well equipped, and everyone at the inn friendly and helpful
