We stay 4 nights, 3 times in a row the towels were not changed without our request, twice the bed linen was not changed, once the room was not cleaned at all. Besides, it's not a good idea to put two twin beds together and to call it double bed.

Having use of the Thermal Spa makes this hotel stand out but otherwise I thought it was over priced. We did take the cheapest room option but the wall paper was coming off the wall the room was small and without aircon so in this 30 degree weather it was unbearable sadly. )a small fan was provided it just blew hot hair around). I hate hotels that think shower gel & shampoo can come in one bottle , it can’t and for the price I want shampoo and conditioner and shower gel. The coffee machine overflows the coffee cups if you select the large. All picky things but for the money it should feel plush and it didn’t. Staff were exceptionally nice though and well trained.

Nice property in a quiet location. The crowd was definitely much older than I expected (all grey hair with a lot of canes or walking sticks). I believe that there is a physical therapist located nearby. It did matter. My only complaint was that the room didn’t have AC and it was warm that evening. They provided a fan and it was enough for the heat.

Hotel is excellent. However, we specifically booked at the hotel so that we could go to the thermal bars on the 24th. We arrived at 15:15 and were told that the thermal baths were closed. It did not say this anywhere on the website which we checked before booking at the hotel. We also called to ask if there would be a normal service at the hotel on the 24th. We were told about the special service in the restaurant and agreed to book in the restaurant. We were not told that there would be limited access to the thermal baths. This was extremely disappointing and means we paid for a service that was not available.

Great Hotel - Spa Pool is Extra

By their own admission, they are a little short of staff at the moment, due to covid, but what they lacked in numbers, they made up for in service and smiles.
The hotel itself is excellent. I would argue that at this level, rooms should have air conditioning but that would be our only criticism if there is one.
One note for HOTELS.com customers... the spa pool illustrated in the listing, is an adjoining company and NOT part of the Dorint hotel. There are preferential rates and it is a great facility, but you will need to pay separately to enter. If you study the 'inclusion' list thoroughly, this is covered, but the illustrations are a bit misleading.

Lots to improve

Our stay was quite disappointing. The sink in the bathroom did not drain. There was mold on the tiles. mosly transparent door to the bathroom. No AC/ klíma. Breakfast costing an extra €25? You have to take the bus to eat anywhere else. Oh, and the bedframe made it painful to get up. Wifi worked for 5 minutes. And we were told by the checkout person that this room is very cheaö for €120 a night.

The hotel provides robes and towels. They also have an enclosed walkway to get to the thermalbad. Really appreciated the convenience. The parking fee was very inexpensive. Would definitely stay here again.

Just AMAZING - perfect stay

Just AMAZING,
Great breakfast, relaxing thermal baths, very comfortable bed and pillows.
It was my girlfriend’s birthday and the hotel staff just went the extra miles to help me make it a memorable one, from breakfast in the room with a birthday cake, late check-out and flowers delivery.
We were both very happy of our stay and are looking forward to coming back!

Beautiful location! The spa next door is closed until September. If you are using the city bus line to go to the city, do your research about the trams and their routes and service times, otherwise you will get stranded somewhere and have to find a taxi. Cleaning staff walked and said “hello” instead of knocking. Awkward. But, it’s a fantastic location, and excellent facilities!

Currently there is a major construction site next to the hotel. There is noise and disruption. When we arrived tgere was no electricity as power cable had been cut by construction work.
Our hotel room view was the building site.

This is a business hotel not one for private travellers. It has a soulless atmosphere and is dominated by business conferences.there were two there when we arriced.

Food quality is very average and poor value for money if you do not have a conference rate.

More like a hospital recovery retreat.

It was a very average two night stay. The beds are small and creaky, they must use this facility for the recovery of patients as the room feel more like that with emergency buttons everywhere. It’s not good for a romantic weekend away or a family. However, surprisingly they have this amazing restaurant which was always full.

Such a beautiful hotel and location! The grounds looked like a picture perfect fall postcard. The hotel rooms and main areas were lovely and felt like a mountain chalet. The staff were great. We especially loved the close proximity to the thermal baths! Would definitely stay here again and for a longer time to enjoy everything the hotel has to offer!

Dorint is an amazing hotel. Very clean, everything looks new, and the breakfast is amazing (but comes at a price — 18€!).
The spa connected to Dorint isn't included in the stay, and you have to buy entrance chips separately at the spa.

WiFi use with username and password which you need to authenticate each and every time you want to check your email around the property. Don’t forget that ticket.

The “gym” isn’t a gym. Its a geriatric physical therapy ward. There are no running machines for younger guests. You have to wait till 08:00 for the gym to open.

Staff very friendly and helpful, room was so comfortable and clean. Mini bar in room. Hairdryer in bathroom. Had a small Juliet balcony. Food on site was a little on the pricey side but was excellent. There were singers every night as you ate your meal or having a drink at the bar. Would certainly recommend to friends. lovely walks from the hotel around the Black Forest.

A good place for corporate groups.

The accommodation was comfortable and staff very helpful. Probably a mistaken choice, though, as it seemed to cater better for corporate groups (which were present) than for the casual holiday visitor. No criticism of the hotel is intended in this, apart possibly from limited staffing in restaurant. Also Dinner Menu choice was rather limited and nor of the best quality.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay. The only two negatives were the wi-fi (slow and having to sign-in constantly), and that the room was very stuffy (which the staff did warn us about, however, we underestimated how hot it would truly get). The room itself was spacious, with nice amenities. Great escape, and wonderful been so close to the forest.

Very nice stay in this hotel. It's a few miles out of the city, adjacent to a hot springs resort, very secluded in the forest. Friendly staff and comfortable, we rented bikes to cycle around the area then soaked in the tubs. The hot springs resort is excellent, separate charge from the hotel though some discount for guests. Very pleasant outdoor dining/seating area in the summer. Overall really enjoyed the stay, quality of the food at dinner was OK, not bad but not great, a little expensive for the quality, otherwise very enjoyable.

Excellent hotel if you are mobile and can drive to freiburg- 7 km away. Great location for people who need some spa. The next door hot water pool is outstanding. Unlimited hours daily swim/water massage and sauna costs only 16€. All worth it! Breakfast is typical German. The bread is unbelievable, as is the coffee. Personnel very nice. Overall a good choice for the price if you're there for te spa not Freiburg.

Lovely hotel in a great setting but the info should make it clearer that the pool cost E11 per head extra. The food in the restaurant was expensive and average at best. Finally, and most disappointing, was the lack of air con. It was a hot day and the room was unbearable at night even with the window wide open. We had to have cold showers during the night.

Overall, a lovely place but turned out to be v expensive for why it is.

Meh... Not bad, not great.

Stayed one night as I was passing through. Reception did not have my reservation and couldn't find it. After about 20 minutes I was given a room. Cell phone reception in all rooms is poor. Wifi was good. Upon checkout I had to wait about 30 minutes. There were 5 other employees standing around and apparently only one could check me out. I won't stay here again. Pretty hotel, staff is poor.

We chose this hotel mainly because all others were sold out. It had more amenities than we were looking for, which we didn't take advantage of, such as large outdoor swimming pools that required additional purchase to use. The hotel was nice and modern. Our room was clean and comfortable.

Great Place To Stay

We stayed for one night on our way to Italy although it appears other guests were there for longer as it is a spa type hotel. The staff at reception were excellent, I was a bit embarrassed with my poor knowledge of the German language however I need not have worried as they spoke perfect English. The room was immaculate and very comfortable, there was no air conditioning however a table fan was provided. We did not have any meals there so cannot comment on their cuisine. Very easy to find from the Autobahn turn off and only a few minutes drive. I would certainly stay again.

It's a beautiful hotel and the staff is lovely....but there is no air conditioning and I was there during a heatwave. It was in the upper 90s Fahrenheit and I sweat the entire night, miserable, with both the outer door and door to the hallway open. It was almost unbearable.

Very friendly hotel, wonderful staff

I stayed at the Dorint for the second time, and it was even better than the first. The staff are always very kind and considerate. I was taken ill during my stay, and they fetched a nurse and a doctor immediately. The setting is lovely, with trees and parkland around, and it's easy to get into Freiburg, even by public transport as I didn't have a car. The thermal baths are next door, and the restaurant is of a very high standard. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

It was not what i expected to be

It suppose to be a resort with all the fqcility but when i reached there i found out that you have to pay for everything.

Can you imagine that you have ro pay for the pool per person and it is not a cheap one.

Also their room key is strange and i could not know how to open my room with that key and if you dont return it you pay 20 euros

I think all their profit come from those things

I dont recomend it for any one and i would advise you to run away from this hotel

Fine but not quite worth it.

The hotel is very nice and the staff was as helpful as they could be, but the hotel isn't completely as advertised. None of the pools are free and the lazy river isn't much of one. The bike seats weren't comfortable and the pillows weren't great either. The hotel is a bit out of town which has its pros and cons. The bathroom \"door\" was glass that you can hear everything through, so there is no privacy. Therefore, if you haven't broken those barriers with your companion, that will change real quick. German TV sucks for English speaking individuals. The shows that should be in English have horrendous voice-overs instead of captions. So, the television options aren't great, unless you speak German, which probably a majority of the guests did. The Spa was all booked, so book early, maybe that's a sign it's a great spa. And, back to the pool. It was pleasant and heated but not really worth 11 euro per trip. The restaurant wasn't spectacular, but they of course thought they were by the prices. The dessert size is ludicrously small, also. Overall, the hotel can be really accommodating, but I don't think it's worth the overpriced value that it is.

I stayed for 5 nights and found it to be a warm and comfortable hotel. It's set on the edge of the forest so all rooms have nice views. Rooms and bathrooms were well appointed, modern, comfortable and clean. The only thing missing was in-room tea/coffee facilities.

Staff were friendly and helpful.

The restaurant was a bit posh for my taste and the one night that I did attempt to eat there, I waited 15 mins for the waitress to take my order and then left. I ate in the bar instead and managed to find something good to eat there each night

On the down side, although the rural setting is lovely, it's about a 20 Euro cab ride into Freiburg and there's literally nothing to do locally in the evenings. So your dinner options are either the hotel restaurant or bar.

I understand that there's a host of spa facilities that I didn't use.

All in all, I'd happily stay here again.

Don't understand quality of service

Unbelievable that a 'quality hotel' doesn't have air conditioning or tea or coffee facilities. When their Breakfast Service fell apart we received so many excuses that you begin to ask serious questions about the management of this Hotel! Good job we didn't complain about the underground parking system breaking. It looks like a 4* but is actually 2*!

We enjoyed the breakfast outside as what a lovely setting. Hotel staff was vary accommodating and friendly. They could use a swimming pool on the beautiful grounds as lots of land. Also if it hot, the rooms (or ours was) are not air conditioned. It does cool down in the evenings. Definitely recommend this place to stay.

Beautiful, quiet hotel close to thermal baths

I was a little apprehensive about staying here as I didn't know the area and it seemed quite a distance from the city of Freiburg itself. However this was more than compensated for by the beauty of the environment, the lovely hotel, and the friendliness of the staff. The thermal baths can be reached directly from the hotel via an underground walkway. You receive a discount on the use of the baths, which are themselves very relaxing.
My only disappointment was that I could not get a booking for a massage at the hotel, in spite of staying there for three nights. It's advisable to book this in advance if you want one. Otherwise, a brilliant place which I would recommend to anyone.

A Wonderful Hotel and Resort

This hotel is super in every way. The staff speak excellent English and are very helpful. The rooms and bathrooms are beautiful, clean, spacious and very comfortable. The hotel location is convenient to Towns in Alsace and in the Black Forest of Germany. The resort is located in a beautiful wooded area. It is also an orthopedic therapeutic resort, so you have access to numerous swimming pools, whirlpools and saunas. The restaurant serves excellent meals at reasonable prices. Highly recommended!

Surpassed our expectations

A lovely place to stay in a quiet woodland setting near Freiburg between the Black Forest & Alsace, both within easy reach. Our economy room was great with great external electric window shutters to help keep the room cool from the afternoon sun as the room didn't have aircon - not that we expect it when we don't have it at home. We would definitely stay again - it was a great introduction to Germany having decided to stay there on route back from Annecy in France via Switzerland.

Great location for a getaway from everything to relax. The spa/pool is separate from the hotel but there is a underground passage designed for guests to go through without leaving the building which was very nice.

Very modern, trendy hotel, in quiet forest setting

Very modern, trendy hotel, in a quiet forest setting. Room spotless, nice comfortable bed and great en-suite.
Breakfast good although did take a while to chase down some coffee! However, highly recommended and would definitely stay again.
Note, some construction work around car park entrance area but would guess that would be soon completed.

Perfect in a wooded area and closed to downtown.

We had a great room and and enjoyed the springs.Very quiet and the personal was very good. If we go back I would stay at the same hotel.

Exploring the black forest with my wife.

As a central hub in the black forest this is a great location if you have a car. We live in Germany so it was easy to drive to the location and all of the sites we wanted to see. Parking is not an issue and they were even ok with us bringing our cat. The room was specific for small pets with bowls, mats and screened windows. Everyone at the reception desk spoke English and we were able to get helpful insights on the surrounding activities. As this hotel is in the middle of the black forest it was easy to walk a variety of nature trails that shoot out from the location. Overall I would recommend this hotel.

What a treat!!!

This Hotel was located in the beautiful, breath taking black forest area of Germany. It was wonderful!! The daily allowance into the spa area was great. The grounds were beautiful, an early morning run or walk is the most peaceful experience. There are just miles and miles of beautiful trails through the forest. You can also rent bikes. Oh, and do not miss the breakfast there. Also the other meals that we had there were outstanding. We would stay here again just for the food. The service was great!!! I had a great massage on the lower floor of the hotel.

Nice spa hotel but far from everything

We enjoyed our stay at Dorint Resort An den Thermen Freiburg because we needed to escape, but we were frustrated that a few things.

The hotel is incredibly far from anything, including Freiburg. You can take public transportation, but it involves a bus and a tram that half the time do not line up and stop running too early in the evening.

Based on google maps, i though the hotel was closer to steeper mountains. It's mostly fields and forest which are nice to hike through but not much of a challenge.

The room was small for what we were paying. We accepted this, considering the spa + pools attached, but half of the view from the pools was construction. The pools were also overcrowded. Laps were never a possibility, even early morning or in the evenings.

Top tip: the hotel restaurant was too expensive, but if you go to the spa restaurant, the food is reasonable and good.

Good for one night stay

We stayed at the hotel for one night on our way from UK to Tuscany and again on the return journey. Convenient for A5. One night we had a newly re-furbed standaard double room which was comfortable but the glass door to the bathroom meant lack of privacy! Rooms lacked a/c though we did have an electric fan on our second stay which was welcome as it was quite hot that day. Dinner was okay but we weren't offered the 'snack' menu - we discovered later that there was a more simple choice rather than the, quite expensive, a la carte 'organic' options.
Breakfast (15 euro each) was good, service efficient. The reception desk had only one person so checking in was delayed while another guest had a long discussion regarding items on their bill and our departure was interrupted while the receptionist broke off to answer the 'phone.

Not your typical spa

We arrived very early as this was our first hotel after crossing the Atlantic overnight. The front desk staff made every effort to find us a room that had been cleaned and ready for guests, despite it still being before noon. Our Expedia reservation was right there, no hassle.
This hotel is listed as a spa, which it is, but with German/European connotations. It is used by many locals as a rehab center, so the lobby was filled with people using wheelchairs, crutches, and walkers as they rehab from strokes, accidents, and other disabling health issues. It is not a spa in the sense of the word describing a pampering location for a vacation, even though they had massages, whirlpools, etc . The location was rural, next to a park, so very quiet and pleasant. (Many cuckoo birds in adjacent forest). We are satisfied with the hotel however most likely we would choose something less clinical if he had known the nature of the spa in advance.

Bon établissement, au calme, personnel très sympathique. Petit problème concernant la douche, le débit de l’eau est faible et la température passe tout le temps de chaud à presque froid sans raison.
