The resort was beautiful and as pictured. The pools, rooms and staff were all amazing! The buffet food was terrible, think hospital cafeteria food. It was very plain and bland. We had 2 specialty restaurants passes, the Oriental and the Authentic Mexican: they were both amazing. The snack bar had burgers and fries for lunch from 12-5 everyday and that is what we ate most of the week for lunch and dinner. The beach had a lot of seaweed in the water and was not as clear as I thought it would have been. Each night there was a performance in the open air theater, they were nice. The rooms had very nice A/C but the buffets did not. That was very unpleasant. The Oriental Restaurant did have A/C.

We had a blast at this resort! This was the first time my kids 16 and 12 had done a trip out of the US and it was so wonderful! The guys that do the entertainment during the day are hilarious and just fun to be around. Diego was our favorite! Only thing I can say is the night entertainment wasn’t the best that could use some working in but that’s it.

I am writing to formally request a refund and appropriate compensation for the unacceptable conditions I experienced during my stay at Allegro. After several hours of travel, I arrived at the hotel expecting a comfortable and safe accommodation. Instead, I was assigned a room that was infested with bugs. This was both disturbing and unacceptable, particularly considering the standards that guests reasonably expect from your property. To address the infestation, hotel staff attempted to fumigate the room at approximately 10:00 p.m. while I was already settled in for the evening. The use of chemicals triggered my son's allergies, creating an additional health concern and causing significant distress. I did not consider this an acceptable solution and, after several hours of discussions with hotel staff, I was eventually relocated to another room.
Unfortunately, the issues did not end there. The replacement room developed a significant water leak from the ceiling the following day. Despite reporting the issue immediately, it took approximately 15 hours for the problem to be resolved. This further disrupted our stay and prevented us from fully enjoying our vacation. As a result of these multiple failures including exposure to bugs in the bedding, exposure to fumigation chemicals, the health impact on my son, the water leak, and the substantial amount of vacation time lost dealing with these issues I am requesting a refund and fair compensation for the inconvenience, discomfort.

Where to start, clean rooms, nice pools but no one seemed to know anything there. Food was very underwhelming. Do not go thinking you are getting high quality service and food. Only kids under 4’ can be in the kids pool. Minimal to no kids activities.

Got food poisoning here left the first day of my 5 days I had booked. Food is absolutely terrible. Only allowed to visit a restaurant once per 3 days you stay here and first night doesn’t count. I highly recommend staying anywhere else.

I have been to Cozumel a few times and Allegro was probably our least favorite resort so far. Pros: Pool stayed open until dark, drinks were really good, air conditioning in the room was really nice, and the beach was amazing. Cons: The buffet food was TERRIBLE and the restaurants were super hard to get into, you can't take food to your room, the mini fridge wasn't restocked, there wasn't a ton of activities, they have cruise guest and it gets really busy, and the gift shop prices are outrageous. Overall, it is a good resort on a budget, especially if all you care about is the beach. There was nice play areas for kids. All the staff were really nice. Not a resort we would choose to return to.

Overall the resort is very nice, the beach is clean and nice to be able to get in the water from the sand. The only downfall here is the food, I’ve never been one to read the reviews that say the food isn’t good and I will eat almost anything but the food was the same flavorless options for every meal. We went off resort for the last 2 days to eat.

The resort was great, the beach was beautiful and the food was fine. If you can't find something to eat that you like, then you are too picky. I didn't like everything that they served, but I never went hungry!

My only complaint is that there are no shade structures on the beach, only palm trees. Not enough palm trees for everyone.

Allegro has amazing bartenders and staff that actually seem to enjoy their job. Everyone spoke both Spanish and English very well. The food was decent for an all inclusive. There was always multiple options for meals. The air conditioning was okay, not like American ac but it wasn’t terrible. The theater shows were fun and had lots of seating.

Good ac, fun shows, excellent drinks. Never had a problem finding a chair at the beach or by the pool. Children's play was nice and well maintained.

Expect a long check in process as they seem to need additional help up front. Though many understood English, it was spotty and we had some communication trouble but usually figured it out. The resort also could do with a more comprehensive website/app for guests. Locations weren't communicated well for activities and staff often didnt know where they were held either.

The beach is beautiful and the Allegro has what many would call the best location on the island. The problem is the restaurant booking process. It’s so hard to eat dinner at this resort. They make it sound like everything is booked up but when you get to dinner, all the tables are empty and there are maybe 2 waiters helping. Allegro, add more dinner reservations for your guests, add more waiters at the dinner restaurants! Every morning there is a long line of people totally upset because of your dinner process. We traveled as a family of 5. I only got to eat dinner with my kids one time! They made us eat separately! One night we were told there was only 3 available at the Mexican restaurant, we watched our kids get seated in a restaurant with 5 tables eating. The funny thing is there were 3 more seats at the table they were sat at. We did have one other problem, when I was walking to my room one of the cleaning ladies on the second flood dumped her bucket of nasty water on me from one of the upstairs windows. She didn’t even look down before she dumped it. She apologized promptly but ruined the new hat and shirt I was wearing. We have had good luck at Barcelona properties but the dinner booking process at this one was so terrible it ruined it. The food quality at the dinner restaurants is barely above the buffet so it’s not worth the fight or the wait, just eat the buffet or go to town. Bartenders are awesome, entertainment staff are awesome, beach is awesome.

I had high hopes but was pretty disappointed. We were only able to get reservations to the restaurants for dinner one evening and had to eat at the buffet for the rest of our dinners. It seemed like each meal had the exact same meals served (fish and chicken cooked a different way). We traveled with our four year old and thought there would be plenty of activities for him- there really wasn’t. We did like the location as it’s not very close to the port, so you aren’t dealing with a ton of traffic that way. Overall, we were dissatisfied and will not return.

The staff provides excellent service and the resort is impeccably clean, including the beach. Much thanks to Daniel and Felix who work in the pool grill areas for service with a smile. The food itself, however, it poor quality. Almost all of the food is comparable to a school cafeteria or hospital with some fresh fruit added in. While the breakfast and lunch were standard buffet fare, the quality of the dinner buffets were terrible and located in a non-airconditioned area (the Topaz restaurant) which doesn't have windows and is very hot. The Teppenyaki restaurant had good quality food but very difficult to get reservations there, even though it appeared mostly empty most night when we were there. We ended up going out to dinner to local restaurants a few nights just to avoid the buffet.

Horrible food!!! We are Hispanics so I have an idea of what Mexican food should taste like. Same food on a daily basis. You either had choice of beans rice veggies and chicken or pork. Stayed 6nights and only had reservations for Italian restaurant for family of 5 (even though we were suppose to get 2 reservations) and that was terrible. Had to eat out a few times. At the buffet, We had our table given to other guests as we went to serve ourselves. Only good consistent drink were their pinacoladas. Otherwise drinks varied in taste and what they were made of. Staff was ok. Some had an attitude especially late night staff. The pools were pretty clean ocean was ok, some sargassum but swim able no rocks. Theater shows were fun. Nightclub was karaoke with young kids. If you stay here definitely budget for extra meals out of the resort. I will NEVER consider returning to this hotel because of our experience.

Positves: Great beach location. Nice server staff, Danna & Ixtel at the pool bars were excellent, friendly, courteous, and attentive, as well as Felix and Oscar in the main buffet area. Beautifully maintained grounds. Air conditioner in guestroom.

Negatives: 1.-No air conditioning in the main buffet room. This is place where a guest usually gets some relief from the hot and humid climate. Every other resort we have been to has air in their dining areas. 2.-Room has very little space to unpack your clothes.

This place has a great location on the beach, don’t pay for the upgrade through Expedia: I paid the hotel didn’t see it, I paid $300 more for the week.
The other problem is that the food sucks, very bland , they ran out of eggs in the morning and I had to wait 30 m , they hide the bacon near the omelette guy so people won’t see it and the omelette line was very long, they don’t have enough staff for the restaurant.
The only food item that was really good was the seafood soup.
The staff was friendly,
For the money Iberostar is was better all around , but if you want the beach, then this place is ok.

We really enjoyed our stay at Allegro. I really like the accommodations with the hammock on the porch. It feels like the Caribbean.. Food at the restaurants was good but much better at the specialty restaurants. The beach is beautiful. I only have one concern because I have been going to Cozumel for years. Sings to be aware of Crocodiles was very concerning to me. And then to find out there was an attack not far from from Allegro in April 2026. I was disappointed that now you have to be weary about being on the beach after dusk. This is the first time I have heard of this danger. I definitely won't be going back to Occidental since that is where the crocodile lives but he has been down to Allegro. I know the staff and management want everyone to be safe but I feel it is a fatality waiting to happen. It almost did in April. We still enjoyed our stay at Allegro.

Allegro Cozumel: The Good, The Bad, & The Indifferent

Cozumel veterans with 13+ combined visits, we returned after a decade away with our kids in tow and chose Allegro based on its reputation as one of the island's better all-inclusives. The beach lived up to the billing — best resort beach on the island, well-staffed and beautifully shaded. The bar staff was equally impressive: attentive, skilled, and fast.

The restaurant reservation system, however, was a disaster. An undisclosed premier/premium tier locks standard guests out of prime reservation slots, and you're limited to one reservation per three days. Nobody offered us the upgrade — which we likely would have purchased. The one meal we did get was underwhelming, the check-in process was long and disorganized, one room lacked hot water for two days, and the snack buffet on arrival was borderline indefensible.
On the neutral side: the grounds are gorgeous but marred by the still-unaddressed remains of a Kids' Club fire from 2022. Breakfast was passable, lunch forgettable, and our room wasn't configured as booked.

Cozumel delivered, as it always does. Allegro, unfortunately, did not.

Terrible food. Everyone needs to stay away from this property. Crazy that everyone at the resort was ordering from outside restaurants and getting it delivered because the food was complete garbage. Save your money and please go elsewhere. Premium not worth it so don’t get it.

We had an incredible time at the resort, so much so that we extended our stay because we couldn't bear to leave! The staff at the resort were all exceptionally kind and attentive, and the facilities were all in excellent shape. The pools were lovely, and the beach was even better. We thought the food was pretty okay, but for the price of the hotel it was expected. The fish was always good, and the Mexican dishes were always better than the Americanized ones. Additionally, the drinks were great, and so were the bartenders. We cannot recommend the Hibachi restaurant, however, the buffet was generally good. There is decent snorkeling off of the resort and the dive shop seems well equipped for those interested in diving. You get a free thirty minutes in the spa, which was great, and we really enjoyed the other free amenities provided. There really is something for everyone all throughout the resort, and we will be back!

This is a little ways out of town? Take 25 minutes to get to and from the city of Cozumel the taxi cost about $20 each way which isn’t really that bad for 25 minutes of driving. This place was immaculate and beautiful. The only problem we had was that if you stay in an upstairs room it’s not very well. Insulated to the room next to it and you can hear pretty much everything that’s going on in adjacent room other than that it’s a wonderful place to stay. The staff was helpful, friendly and courteous.

This is a great resort. We upgraded to premium which we thought was definitely worth the price.

I wish I could give 5 stars. The only downside was the food quality. We ended up dining out more than we planned and what with taxi fares and restaurant prices, it turned out to be a more expensive trip than anticipated.

That said we did like the resort and beach. And the specialty restaurants were spot on.

Lastly, I cannot say enough about the staff. Great people!

Just increase the food quality and this could be top tier.

Rooms were small but clean. Staff was extremely friendly. The entertainment staff I wish you remembered our name and was extremely nice. Actual if you stay for seven days, the guaranteed reservation at two restaurants otherwise it was buffet style.. pretty much the same thing every night it said they would change out one or two things. There were six in our group and five of us had diarrhea for 4 to 5 days six days were there I ended up getting strep throat… we spoke to valet about ordering pizza and they told us that yes we can have plenty of pizza delivered there so we went to the front counter to order the pizza and the management told us we could not yet when we left today people had pizza delivered… employees were extremely nice … we do not make everything forever. It would be nice to have a variety of different types of food on a daily basis instead of the same buffet.

the food was not very good. It would be nice to have access to water at the pools and bars. I would suggest a water cooler so you can get water whenever you want. It was my granddaughters 18th birthday and the staff put a sign and balloons on the door and delivered a cake which was very nice. The rooms could use an upgrade. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. I felt very safe at the resort. I would say that the resort is very family friendly. It would have been nice to have more activities at the pool. The beach was very nice.

I know opinions vary by people. As for me, I'm a minimalist person. Not fussy about much, not wanting to be pampered. I don't inspect my room upon arrival. I eat whatever is on my plate. I don't want to complain about much unless it has to do with a safety issue. So if this is you, the Allegro is a fabulous resort. I've stayed there about 12 times, switching back and forth with another in the same area. Rooms are clean and comfy. AC works great, there's always hot water, the mini fridge is stocked. The food is fantastic, both buffet and the specialty restaurants. Some people are picking about what they eat.. not my story, I just enjoy it.

I go mainly for scuba diving. They have a really good dive operation right on the property. Some of the boats are aged, but the staff is wonderful and will ensure you have a good time. I'm also a scuba instructor (retired), so I may see what others might not. I have no gripes with how things are done. I just enjoy my dives.

The amenities are excellent, if you enjoy packing your vacation full of activities. I cannot remark on the nightly entertainment as I generally enjoy a quiet evening with a good movie.

The property is older and aged, but that is where the charm is. I'm not looking for a palace for vacation, but a bungalow to relax in and enjoy.

The pros: a flat, clean and very nice stretch of beach; the ocean is calm and very accessible and swimmable; the grounds are lovely and well kept; rooms are clean but outdated. The cons: organized activities are obnoxious (regular whistle blowing for volleyball and pool activities) and announcements over microphone. Walls of rooms are thin. The food is what you would expect for an all-inclusive, maybe less. It’s too bad. This place could be better with small changes and updates.

I do not want to reflect this on the staff at all as all personnel were extremely helpful attentive and friendly. But there are things that are needing improvement. The food was terrible 😭breakfast lunch and dinner was yucky! The only saving grace was the hibachi . Only buffet for breakfast and lunch and if you are Lucky to get a reservation at a a specialty restaurant at night . That’s the only à la carte ordering. The property needs updating and remodeling all around my shower head was hanging on the wall and we had to make it work with the in shower clothes line just as one example. The couple we went with had sewer water back up into their bathroom because of the rain. No one tells you that this resort isn’t even finished! There is a section that has unfinished hotel pads . The lobby has couches without cushions so upon entering you are

All staff were friendly and accommodating. The beach was beautiful... all sand and snorkeling right off the shore. It was relatively easy to get pool chairs, and the drinks were great! The Hibachi was solid, but otherwise the food was subpar (although that is pretty common when it comes to all inclusive resorts). This is a smaller resort, which makes everything easy to navigate and access. On the flip side, there aren't as many restaurants and amenities. The rooms were perfectly fine for us, but it was kind of like sleeping in a glorified tent. It was wonderful in the morning to wake to the sound of all of the wildllife, but it wasn't so great being able to hear neighbor's conversations and the evening entertainment. That isn't a deal breaker for us, but it is something to be aware of.

Nice sized resort with a beautiful beach. Pools were good and not crowded. Enjoyed the breakfast and lunch buffets. Staff was super nice and accommodating. We especially enjoyed the service from Yamili at breakfast and lunch and from Carlos at dinner.

Amazing snorkeling, pretty grounds. Would definitely go back!

Staff was excellent and very helpful. We were in a room very close to the entertainment initially and it’s very loud at night so asked to change. They were able to accommodate.
The food, especially at lunch, was not amazing with a minimal selection. Would like to see them up their food options. Also if you are gluten or dairy intolerant the choices were almost non existent.

Rooms are small. Noisy a/c. Thin walls between units. Public areas are nice and well maintained. Food was ok, better in the two specialty restaurants but guests are limited to one visit to each per week. Drinks are weak and wine and beer always the same single brand. The property is also a long way from town so shopping, dining, pharmacy needs involve expensive transportation. For the same money there are better, more convenient places.

All of the staff was so nice and helpful. The cleaning person for my room was a little lax, not leaving coffee twice and not putting out clean glasses twice. That was unusual, as I've been here before and that never happened. The recreation staff was really fun and the wait staff was very good. Had a great time there!

The kids pool and play park was not functioning or working properly.
We did not know when we arrived that there had been a fire which took out multiple buildings, and has not been remediated in over three years.
It was sad that there was such a limited booking availability for the alacarts.

It wasn’t terrible, but it definitely wasn’t great either.

The biggest disappointment was the food. I’ve stayed at many all-inclusive resorts and understand the food is usually average at best, but this was noticeably worse than what I’ve experienced elsewhere. The buffet options were very limited and lacked flavor, and surprisingly there weren’t even tacos available, which felt odd considering we were in Mexico. The best meal we had the entire trip was actually across the street at Iguanas Restaurant, which was excellent and a highlight of the trip.

The drinks were also disappointing and tasted very watered down most of the time.

Another issue was the limited dining availability. Only one restaurant was open each night, and reservations were difficult to get. The last reservation slot was around 9pm, which filled up quickly.

There were also several small things that added up. The hot tub was barely warmer than the pool, the pools closed early at 7pm, and the beach was completely closed at night. There were no hammocks or beach daybeds to relax in during the day. Entertainment in the evenings was minimal and not very engaging. We were traveling with a group of 12 people, and there really weren’t any good hangout areas large enoughfor groups besides the lobby couches.
Overall, the resort felt pretty average and lacked the little touches that make an all-inclusive experience enjoyable. Unfortunately, based on this stay, we wouldn’t choose to return.

The beach was absolutely amazing. The rooms were fine , not luxury-level, but comfortable and certainly not the worst we’ve experienced. The overall layout of the resort is wonderful, and the property itself is beautiful and very well maintained.

Unfortunately, the biggest disappointment was the food. Most of it was served at room temperature and lacked flavor. We made a reservation at the Italian restaurant one evening, hoping for something better, but it fell short. I ordered the ravioli, and when my plate arrived, there were only two regular-sized ravioli, not large portions, just standard size,which was surprising and underwhelming.

Super nice staff and the grounds are meticulously maintained. Lots of choices of activities through the day and the food was great too. Would be a perfect place for families with kids as they have a big playground, a giant shallow pool with slides just for children and a kids' club.
