The resort was nice. Great beach. Nice pools. Scuba shop was good and dive masters were great.
Food at the resort wasn’t great other than the specialty restaurants but reservations are limited. A lot of the buffet food was cold when it should be easy to keep it warm.

All of the staff was so nice and helpful. The cleaning person for my room was a little lax, not leaving coffee twice and not putting out clean glasses twice. That was unusual, as I've been here before and that never happened. The recreation staff was really fun and the wait staff was very good. Had a great time there!

The kids pool and play park was not functioning or working properly.
We did not know when we arrived that there had been a fire which took out multiple buildings, and has not been remediated in over three years.
It was sad that there was such a limited booking availability for the alacarts.

It wasn’t terrible, but it definitely wasn’t great either.

The biggest disappointment was the food. I’ve stayed at many all-inclusive resorts and understand the food is usually average at best, but this was noticeably worse than what I’ve experienced elsewhere. The buffet options were very limited and lacked flavor, and surprisingly there weren’t even tacos available, which felt odd considering we were in Mexico. The best meal we had the entire trip was actually across the street at Iguanas Restaurant, which was excellent and a highlight of the trip.

The drinks were also disappointing and tasted very watered down most of the time.

Another issue was the limited dining availability. Only one restaurant was open each night, and reservations were difficult to get. The last reservation slot was around 9pm, which filled up quickly.

There were also several small things that added up. The hot tub was barely warmer than the pool, the pools closed early at 7pm, and the beach was completely closed at night. There were no hammocks or beach daybeds to relax in during the day. Entertainment in the evenings was minimal and not very engaging. We were traveling with a group of 12 people, and there really weren’t any good hangout areas large enoughfor groups besides the lobby couches.
Overall, the resort felt pretty average and lacked the little touches that make an all-inclusive experience enjoyable. Unfortunately, based on this stay, we wouldn’t choose to return.

The beach was absolutely amazing. The rooms were fine , not luxury-level, but comfortable and certainly not the worst we’ve experienced. The overall layout of the resort is wonderful, and the property itself is beautiful and very well maintained.

Unfortunately, the biggest disappointment was the food. Most of it was served at room temperature and lacked flavor. We made a reservation at the Italian restaurant one evening, hoping for something better, but it fell short. I ordered the ravioli, and when my plate arrived, there were only two regular-sized ravioli, not large portions, just standard size,which was surprising and underwhelming.

Super nice staff and the grounds are meticulously maintained. Lots of choices of activities through the day and the food was great too. Would be a perfect place for families with kids as they have a big playground, a giant shallow pool with slides just for children and a kids' club.

1. Our door stopped working twice. It took over 45 minutes for someone to show. The solution was to fix it the next day. Until then we could not lock our door when we left the room.

2. We paid for a premium room. We were put in building 61. It didn't even feel like a premium room. The other buildings (63, 64, 65, etc) had upgraded patio furniture, while building 61 & 62 had the same patio furniture as regular rooms.

3. There were no extras, such as fruit, cute towel animals or flowers in the past. Every other visit, our room has these \"extras\".

4. Premium areas were crowded with non-premium guests.

5. Food is not great but it is edible.

We stayed here with four couples and absolutely loved our experience! The beaches at Allegro are hands down some of the best — beautiful, clean, and perfect for relaxing. The hotel staff and cleaning crew were fantastic and truly made our stay enjoyable. The food was good, the drinks were great, and the overall atmosphere made for an excellent vacation.

We would definitely visit again and highly recommend Allegro as a wonderful getaway destination! 🌴☀️🍹

Unfortunately we had a very mixed experience.

On our first morning at breakfast, I noticed that the pancakes were full of tiny ants. I immediately informed the staff and asked them to remove them. While they did take action, it was not a great way to start our stay and raised concerns about food hygiene.

Throughout the rest of our trip, the food quality remained disappointing — limited variety and overall poor taste. It definitely did not meet expectations for an all-inclusive resort. The drinks were also underwhelming, as most cocktails seemed to be made with syrups rather than fresh ingredients, which made them taste artificial.

The room itself was okay — nothing special but acceptable. However, we had an issue with the bathroom: water leaked into the room every time we took a shower, which was frustrating and inconvenient.

On a positive note, the Kids Club was amazing! The staff there were wonderful and our child had such a great time participating in activities. That was definitely the highlight of our stay.

Overall, while the Kids Club stood out in a very positive way, the food quality, hygiene issue, and maintenance problems would make us hesitate to return

We had an absolute blast. Myself, wife, sister in law and her friend all came down and once we settled in we had a great time. Arby that runs all the activities by the pool is great and hilarious definitely get to know him. I see a lot of comments saying the food isn’t good and I whole heartedly disagree. The food is fantastic, there’s always something you’re going to like at the buffet and the hibachi place is outstanding and you’re not leaving hungry.
Our room was always nice and clean, fully stocked with beer, pop and water which we enjoyed. I really can’t find anything negative to say about the place and yeah we are booking again

The resort itself was nice, great layout and beautiful beach. The room was clean and bed was very comfortable however its was a little dated and not very vibrant. All of the staff was very nice and friendly. The Asian restaurant was pretty good. It was also good entertainment. The rest of the food is lacking buffet is pretty much the main option for breakfast lunch or dinner unless you’re lucky enough to get a specialty restaurant which you’re only allowed one every three nights. The buffet is edible if you pick around long enough and stick to something solid. Go there for the beach, not the food. It was probably a good value, but definitely not a luxury resort however we had a great time and enjoyed a lot about this place.

The room was good! The drain didn't drain correctly in the bathroom and we had water dripping from the room above us through the light in the bathroom. We did tell staff and it was fixed right away and we were given desserts for them having to work in our room. The resort is beautiful and everyone was kind, especially Abery! He was a hoot and so funny! The beach was wonderful and snorkeling was ok! We had a great time here!

Room was fine. Sink backed up often. Staff was great ! Breakfast and lunch were ok but the dinners were awful. Most meals were missing bowls, spoons and coffee cups. Dinner had several empty food trays every night. There were never reservations available for sit down dinners. Waiting in line several times to book and had no luck. Very disappointing. The resort was definitely not the same as it was 4 years ago. The only thing that made it worth the visit was the great beach and bar tending staff.

The room smelled with mold. It came from the bathroom, where the mold was everywhere. I asked for changing with another room, and the front desk person said there is no room available. I reached out to the manager and after ~ 2 hours of coming back and forth to the office I got another room. When I opened it I found out it has been occupied... So, after approximately half a day I finally got a room.

Great beach (oh but read the sighs on the beach - don't be scare just talk to the staff about them) , clear warm sea, friendly staff, clean overall resort, and good Oriental restaurant. Downsides: rooms with moldy smells and some were with clogged drains, undercooked seafood and bad steak at the Italian, buffet items running out quickly and some were never reloaded, also very bad coffee from machines and no coffee at all from bars, overly sweet cocktails because of the concentrated juses used and limited evening entertainment. Diving is pricey but the diving center is right there and staff are helpful. Oh and be aware that diving might be hard to book and better bring cash for payments otherwise more expensive and no refund. Anyway, overall good for what I paid.

The property was clean and beautiful and well maintained. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bed and pillows were awesome. They had a lot of entertainment and activities around one of the pool. The nighttime entertainment was not so great but we are usually in bed by eight anyway. We did go to karaoke night and men versus women night and it was a lot of fun. We will definitely be staying again.

We have been to several all inclusives and really enjoyed this resort. The room was clean, staff was helpful, beach was beautiful, and activity staff made it super fun for my high school/ college age kids. Shout out to Diego!
It is a more affordable resort so drinks were about as expected but the food left a lot to be desired. It's basically all cafeteria style and you only get 1 restaurant dinner for 3 days. Compared to similar resorts it wouldn't take much to improve. Maybe a beachside grill with fresh hamburger/hotdogs and street tacos. Basic sit down dinner with fresh Mexican options.
A bit of caution that this is a family friendly resort but also lively and has people and entertainment until after 10pm.

Here is a balanced review of this resort

Positives: Great beach, pool/beach chairs and towels always available, rooms are clean
(however check your mattress.. one of ours was ripped and had what looked like dead bugs in the creases but the hotel did change it out for us when I raised this to their attention). Property is well maintained.

Negatives: check in took over an hour and we were given the incorrect room 2x. The food at the buffet was a 6/10 with limited choices and things like stew as your meal options however there was generally one made to order taco or fajitas station that was okay. You get 2 guaranteed restaurant reservation during a week stay but the line up in the morning to reserve the restaurants are LONG…
The tennis, pickleball and basketball court are great but they charge you $7USD to turn the lights on to play in the evening even though it says on their sign they are open until 9 pm. When the outdoor theatre is being used for evening entertainment you can hear everything in you room and it’s REALLY loud until approx 10:00-10:30 when things shift to the disco. Many families with young children were complaining about this.

Overall this resort has its pluses and minuses and if you can get a good deal it’s worth staying at but not if you’re paying premium prices.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Allegro for a week in December 2025. The staff were amazing, especially Arby and Diego! They have so many fun things to do each day at the resort and they also have a desk in the front where you can rent a car. I only give it 4 stars because the food was just okay, the specific restaurants on the property were amazing though!

The rooms smelled pretty bad. The food was average at best. The kids programming left a lot to be desired at times. Anything in the kids club room definitely gave off daycare vibes and my older kids were turned off from the start because of it.

Staff were wonderful and we had no issues while we were there. Diego was the best!

The entertainment was like no other resort I’ve been to. They are so nice and involved with the guest. There is always a game going on like volleyball, water polo, bingo, and more. There is also something for young kids to do too like face painting and treasure hunts. Very safe and friendly staff. You know everyone’s name by the end. The beaches were beautiful and clear. You can snorkeling and scuba diving at no extra cost! So many people we talked to had been to the resort multiple time. We will definitely be back.

Pros: grounds were beautiful and well maintained. The same goes for the pool and beach. Activities at the pool & beach were fun. The shows in evening was nice too. Kid friendly resort.

Cons: the food options were extremely limited. The food ran out regularly and either wasnt replenished or not replenished fast enough e.g. no syrup for pancakes; ran out of French toast and not replaced as far as my understanding. Also have to wait in line at times to enter buffet. Food was below average. We ended up taking cabs to the center of town for dinner. Defeats the purpose of staying at an all inclusive resort. The staff and waiters will pass right by you if you’re a person of color. It happened several times throughout my stay. They tried to charge me extra fees at checkout. I was very disappointed with the service and will not be returning.

It is an older property, but it is well maintained. I am happy to return to this resort year after year. The food is always good and the variety is plenty. The rooms are comfortable, and housekeeping does a fine job in keeping it tidy each day for you. I mainly come here each year to scuba dive because I believe it has one of the best scuba operation on the island. The dive shop is on the property, the boat picks up at the resort's dock. You don't ever have to leave the resort. The staff has always been friendly and will assist you with your needs.

GREAT VALUE for my stay at this property. I've stayed at a Barcelo property in Puerto Vallarta which was nicer. Come for the beach & convenient (but not great) food & beverages. There were always basic tacos & fresh fruit & vegetables available. Drinks had an odd chemical aftertaste. Front desk girls are amazing & very friendly. The bartenders are just there to do their job. Wait staff was great. Entertainment needs improvement & DJ needs to cut back on his \"ooooua ooooua\" calls to the crowd lol

We really enjoyed our stay at Allegro Cozumel. The place was beautiful, and that staff was pleasant and kind. We especially liked the entertainment staff - JD, Arbey, and Millie. So FUN! The swim up bartenders, one in particular (we never got his name...) were so fun and kind too. And we enjoyed our dinner at the oriental restaurant - so DELCIOUS! It was a great getaway. My husband and I really enjoyed ourselves, and we've discussed going back in a few years and bringing our three kids along. Thanks for a great time, Allegro!

Traveled as a family. Beach was perfect and hotel was very clean. My child had a lot of fun at the waterpark. Everyone was very nice. We liked that it was a smaller resort and it was a chill family atmosphere. We felt very safe and relaxed the whole time. We did the Cielo snorkel tour and traveled to mainland on the ferry to go to Xcaret which we 100% recommend! Overall had an amazing time and would definitely recommend Allegro to friends and family!

Every experience has been special and delightful. Everyone ,from employees to other guests, you encounter has a smile and hello. The rooms are comfy and kept regular clean. The beach is beautifully crystal clear and also kept clean. Food and drinks are great and always served with a smile. All services are excellent and the grounds kept clean and beautiful. It’s calm, peaceful and beautiful what more could you want if you’re looking to relax.

One of our rooms smelled absolutely horrible, the buffet food is mediocre, and the vendors onsite will tell you they are charging one price but will overcharge your card (25+USD) so make sure you stay on top of your credit card bill!

Room was small but very clean and staff was very friendly and helpful. Only disappointment was when we went to the Italian restaurant that you have to make reservations for. The food was horrible and they only give you a small amount. Service was still great but they don’t have a grasp on Italian food.

The food at the Allegro is absolutely subpar and I question the food hygiene. Itema that should be hot are lukewarm at best. Food that should be cold is warm. This is concerning. Members of our party were sick after consuming food at the buffet.

Cross contamination was a major concern. When the same utensils are being used on raw fish, pork, beef and chicken at the grill.

I know many resorts recycle leftovers from the day before but the options for breakfast being the same as what was served fo4 supper every morning became tedious. Often being excited for hardboiled eggs is not the level of food I expect at any resort.

There were not enough serving untensils per food items on the buffet which lead to more cross contamination.

The buffet was a huge disapointment and would not return or recommend the Allegro for this reason alone.

The majority of the staff are amazing. We quite enjoyed Wilma at the buffet and the female server at the beach bar who hussled all week, she always had a smile.

We had several issues with our room from the toilet not working to the roof leaking, with that being said maintenance and management were quick and professional with fixing the issues.

Everything about the Allegro is beautiful from the grounds, the beach, location it is so unfortunate about the food. This was our second time here, after giving it a second chance after the food issues last year.
