Excellent restaurant and bar. The staff was great, and the hotel has been restored to perfection. I am amazed that they seem to have been able to keep or replicate so many original features. My only complaint is that our room, 313, looked out over the HVAC units, and there was some trash laying around up there. They need to get someone out there to clean that area up. Also, one of the shades in our room wasn’t operable. Our view wasn’t good, but we still would have appreciated the sunlight.

They refused to honor the reservation I made through Expedia. They made me make a new reservation directly with them directly even though the Expedia reservation was valid and non-cancellable. The staff was amazing! We loved all of the antiques throughout and the traditional decor. This would’ve been a 5 star stay for us but the windows are not sound proof. We were one of the top floors, and got woken up several times throughout the night due to loud trucks revving up outside. The sound bounced off all the buildings downtown and really amplified the sound all the way up to our room. I track my sleep, and that is the worst sleep I’ve had in months. If we come back, I’ll be sure to bring ear plugs.

Big Spring, Tx has become a destination for us because of this hotel--we'll find any excuse to go through Big Spring so we can stay at the Hotel Settles. First of all...it is beautiful--restored to her 1930's glory about 12 years ago. The lobby is adorned with beautiful art, an unbelievable staircase and period furniture--it is simply gorgeous. The staff are so friendly and my check-in and check-out experiences were awesome. The room was squeaky clean, the beds and bedding were top-notch and our room looked out over the Big Spring area. We never venture further than the hotel restaurant for meals because it is so dang good. For supper, we had the salmon and the chicken fried steak--both delicious. I have to shout out the chef for my collard greens--lordy they were good. The pool and hot tub area are beautiful and very relaxing. If you are in the Big Spring area--make an excuse to go there and treat youself to an overnight stay at Hotel Settles.

There was a large bleached out stain as soon as you enter the room as well. There was a less noticeable stain by the bed. This is not a Motel 6 so I expect more much than to see a huge stain as soon as I enter the room. I share this so they understand it’s definitely not a quickly forgotten blemish on the room quality. The prices here are fair and it’s in a great location.

Terrible for business travel. Staff will mess up your meeting schedule and threaten to throw your stuff out the room. For business travelers just stick to your fav - Marriott, IHG, or Hilton. Hotel staff very unprofessional and this hotel seems measured toward travels on holiday

The room was very roomy and extra comfortable. The bedding was very clean and the HVAC easily maintained correct temperatures. The interior lobby is beautiful and well appointed with interesting historical data. The pool area is very nice but we were there during weather too cool to use. The problem here is the street noises of traffic and one night people partying loudly on the opposite corner for over an hour til 2:30 am. The restaurant was good at breakfast and hotel staff were excellent. The downside was the holiday dinner buffet was less than desirable. The meat was good but all sides were not warm, some too mushy and both desserts rather bland. Our reservation began at their last hour for service and the staff were breaking down tables and chairs next to us in the middle of our meal; 20-30 minutes before end of service which greatly distracted from the intended atmosphere. The area around the hotel was not as meticulously maintained nor attractive. Settles is like a diamond in the rough--not much around except rundown shops and parking lots. The areas around I-20 appeared to be more active and inviting.

We'd had many many hours in the vehicle & needed safe & clean. WE GOT SO MUCH MUCH MORE. Hotel is absolutely jaw dropping beautiful. Restoration of one of Texas's fine treasures was done to the perfection. We even encountered a gentleman who toured us a bit so we could see enlarged photos of the work on re-gutting & rebuilding. Room was perfect a/c (or heat), very very comfie beds, gorgeous original windows, coloration was so 1930s and elegance -I felt Jean Harlow (30's film star) could've graced the big descending staircase. If one's in Big Spring, TX - don't miss this gem of a stay. We hated to leave. Visit the fab bar & casual areas, bring your books and if ya wanna sleep, don't plan to go anytime soon!

We are always so impressed at how nice this hotel is. I have been wanting to use the pool and finally had the chance. I was very surprised that the pool area was not impeccable like the rest of the hotel. Especially the jacuzzi - it had lots of bugs in it and could use a facelift.

The food in the restaurant was very good. As for the staff, everyone was amazing. However, there is one who was above them all and she was the evening front desk lady during the week (I do not remember her name). She was so polite, caring and always greeted us with a smile. She even went above this on her day off when we saw her and she came up and greeted us and asked how we were enjoying our vacation. This young lady should get a raise just saying. The property was so amazing and was ultra clean. We will stay again very soon.

Was there for a wedding and I was hard to believe the bar upstairs wouldn’t take cash so they elected to hang on to my credit card and leave in a plastic box. After paying cash downstairs and clearing what thought was both tabs they charged me again upstairs. Odd. Room was super clean but had trouble getting it to cool off. Love the property as it is AMAZING and thought it was a good price for the room.

Beautifully restored, historic hotel. Our room was huge, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Friendly and obliging staff. The onsite restaurant looked lovely although we did not use it. We arrived during a rainstorm but the hotel lacks a covered drop off area. We got quite wet as we had to park out on the street. This is not a walkable area as there are very few facilities nearby.
