Property is in a good location for the parks and has a good restaurant and bar. Biggest issue for me was my room backed on to the lift shaft which meant I had a very noisy stay and trouble sleeping. I asked for a room change but hotel was full and staff really didn’t care.

We stayed in this area strictly to go to universal. I read all the reviews and decided to save a few dollars and stay a little further from the park here. Well needless to say I wish I would have just stayed at one of the closer to universal hotels. We got a family room at the garland. Which wasn’t very well described on the websites. It is a little nook with bunk beds and no door. Not very useful for getting kids to bed earlier and having a dark separate space for them. There was also no night light or natural way for them to have a light if they got up at night. The staff kept coming into our room while we were gone. Parking was also $50/night which I also don’t feel like was well advertised. They’d pick up towels and always close the blinds. It kind of caught us off guard that they were in our space so much but not really an issue I guess. The bathroom had a frosted glass sliding door and was right at the head of one side of the main bed. Odd. Definitely woke that person up anytime someone used it. All in all just a bit of a disappointment. The room was still very expensive despite all of this (~$400usd/night with taxes and fees and parking). For that price I am wishing I had stayed at the Hilton or Sheraton right at the park.

What a great property and area. There were many organized activities for both adults and children to keep them occupied at the property. The pool area was very nice. The hotel is minutes away from Universal Studios as well as many other sights to explore nearby. Our room was comfortable and modern with a retro flair. The bed was super comfortable. I will definately book this place again in the future

Spent two nights here. The hotel is charming. Our coffee machine filter was dirty and had weird fuzz in the water compartment. I asked to replace it the first night and no one arrived. Asked reception for it the next morning, was promised it will be taken care of, but nope. Replaced on the third morning. Otherwise, it was a good stay. Nice to have a balcony to some trees.

The stay was amazing - love the hotel and the facilities but the lobby bar and seating area was significantly understaffed at peak service times. It took 90 minutes for us to get dinner one night and that was only after my husband went into the bar and placed our food order. One person working the tables (even with a manager bussing) is terrible for the staff and the customers! I would consider implementing an order system that has guests place orders using a QR code for the table and having staff handle greeting people and delivering orders to tables. Room, decor, staff were great and vibes were high but food service needs work.

This was our first time visiting and we were very pleased with our stay here. The property exceeded our expectations with the courtyard and pool area. Beautiful and relaxing area, with multiple places to hang out. Movie nights, while soaking in the hot tubs and pool were just what we needed after our day of excursions. The food was good and staff were so helpful and friendly. We will definitely stay here again! And we’ll definitely recommend it to our friends.

The most gorgeous hotel. The grounds are so beautiful, and everything is so central and convienent. My daughter loved the pool and movie nights. The room was lovely.
Shuttle to universal was always ontime, and only about 5-7 minutes journey. Staff were all great. The only thing I wish was different is that there were a few more vegetarian options in the buffet and main restaurant. Would 100% stay here again and would recommend to anyone.

The Garland was such a lively and fun place to stay. We stayed at two hotels during our trip, and I’m really glad this was one of them. The energy was great and the events they hosted were awesome.
The pool and fitness center were really nice, and the room had a cool, groovy design while still being super comfortable. The trolley to Universal was one of my favorite parts. It was so cute and made getting there really easy.
The restaurants both looked great, and I loved the store too. Everything felt thoughtful and well done. I would definitely stay here again.

the hotel is nice and I enjoyed my stay. The staff I interacted with were great. The building I was in on the 4th floor stank of old cigarette smoke. Additionally, there was a rattle coming from the bathroom for two nights before it was fixed, but the rattle started to come back on the day i left. Finally, the room was not restoked with waters each. I had to call and I think that should be standard. For the price, just not up to speed.

We stayed here while visiting Universal Studios. This hotel is so much better than Hilton or Sheraton, and is a fraction of the price. The hourly shuttle to CityWalk was great. Staff was friendly, rooms were stellar, and the environment was so fun! Nightly movies in the pool and complimentary wine in the room was fantastic. We will definitely stay here in the future.

As soon as we came out of the elevator it stunk like cigarette smoke on the entire floor and in our bedroom. The smell was so strong in the carpets and curtains, it was pretty gross.

The shuttle to Universal was really convenient, and the food in the courtyard was good. The movies playing at the pool was a really fun idea although it was too cold at night.

This is a a really nice hotel to stay if you want to be near Universal Studios. The place smells good when you walk in. Very clean and organized. The free bus to and from the park was great. The pool was very nice you can order drinks and food while there, super chill vibe. The restaurant was nice, food and service was good. Wish the breakfast was free like many do around Disneyland but I guess that cuts back on too many people at once. One thing i wasn't expecting was the $300 deposit per room so we had to pay 600 bucks even though the rooms were already payed in full. I expected a deposit just not so much. The Wi-Fi was not good, my cell service worked better without it. Other than that I’d say this was an excellent place to stay for a Hollywood trip and would definitely recommend!

The property was beautiful and staff were delightful. But be aware, the charge you pay through Expedia will not be your total charge when you check out. I was shocked that at check in they charge $300 “deposit” and then charge “$50” a night for you to park your car plus another $5 for “parking tax” along with a ton of extra “fees” and “taxes” for nonsense things like “CA tourism tax, Room occupancy tax, HWMO CA tax, etc.” there are too many to list but they basically do their best to not return the extra $300 that they charge in the beginning. Also, when I checked in, I was told I was an Expedia VIP and they would usually give me an upgrade but since they were “sold out” they gave me a bottle of wine… they didn’t even ask if I drank. I was there with my minor daughter and not with any other adult so they should have been more accommodating to their “upgrade.”
I’m a frequent traveler and I’m aware of these deposits that get charged at check in and then get deposited back at check out. This experience just seemed somewhat odd.
