Infrastructure - there is no weather seals on any doors or windows and there was a million bugs getting in. Looks like unfinished renovations on a nice room. I do not know what the new owners are doing but I do miss Bill and I know he would make this right. The energy is just not the same and but I’ll definitely come visit as the vibe is nice. Don’t know if I’ll stay again as the rooms need improvements. Definitely nice scenery and staff is nice which made up the difference in the room. Overpriced for what I got. Good luck AMA!

This hotel is not just adults only, they allow woman who work in the adult industry to solicit their services in the bar. While the services are not performed in the bar, those take place elsewhere, be aware that every evening the bar area has numerous working women in the bar. I did not find this information in prior reviews, just references to there being pretty Latinas at the property.

If you are nervous about visiting San Jose then this place is for you. An ideal spot for a guy looking to dip his toes into the country. The property is nice enough. But the staff will look out for you and keep you safe and out of trouble. What an easy place to make friends!

We got there at 630 pm. No one was there so we left and never stayed. If we knew check-in was by 530pm we would not have had dinner. But seeing no one at this hotel and no food service or staff there we would have had a horrible time.

Rooms near the bar are very noisy immediately off the bar area then they have the back rooms that are much quieter 9 o’clock shuts down half the music but if you’re in the front bar, it’s still very noisy if you’re trying to sleep after 9 PM

If you want a dirty hotel, “for hire ladies” filling the lobby and bar, dirty sheets, and a xxx rated movie playing on your tv when you turn it on….. this is the place for you. I couldn’t even put my bags down. I checked out and paid for a different hotel quickly. Unfortunately they would not honor a refund and Expedia was not willing or able to help. A wonderful stay. The room is extremely large and while older had everything needed. I live the hotel, the old mansion is beautiful. There are a couple of nice sitting areas for quiet time and the back veranda is a wonderful place for morning coffee.

This trip was just a weekend trip, but wonderful as always. as with any hotel, what truly separates the best are the staff this place has the best staff have any hotel around whether it’s the owner, the management, servers or housekeeping, you’re always treated like family. Manfred does such a great job of making everyone feel like a priority. The bar staff is phenomenal, service with a smile (beautiful smiles). I’ve always been very impressed by the staff, one special lady in particular. Thank you Ana🙏❤️

It’s a great small hotel that was renovated out of a mansion evidently. If you’ve been to Costa Rica or other “third world” countries you’ll realize it’s not same quality of the US, but it’s also not the prices. It was $92 for the night w a king bed, hot shower, little fridge (threw a 6 pack in there). Pool table at the bar, cool bartenders. Do a shot w them!Hazel was super sweet. On a Monday night there were some ladies around. Good times. George is reception, maybe a manager..? Good dude friendly.

Seems very safe with 24-hour guard out front and no strangers wandering around. Didnt even lock my room most of the time. Liked my room the Amistad except 2 things, needs a deep cleaning, there was a lot of mold in the cracks and crevices and in one spot it even leaked water when it rained and there was black mold. Towels and bedding were dirty too. Other issue was WiFi in room was very weak. Couldn’t use it on my phone or computer so had to pay extra for using my phones cell phone service all the time. There was stronger WiFi in common areas but I got an error trying to connect to it. Staff was very friendly and helpful, as were the patrons. Like that they had a lot of English movie channels.
