Great villa style apartment in a fantastic resort

Spacious, clean, well equipped and top condition. Our apartment (essentially part of a large villa) was perfect for a week away with a 5 month old. We thought we had to much room but it made the trip so much easier to spread out and not be confined to a hotel room or suite. The finish of the villa was fantastic, kitchen and appliances made it a smooth trip with baby. Plus a private patio and pool was perfect for relaxing there - the resort was walkable (20 mins on average to restaurants and beaches) which was perfect for us as we like to explore by foot and not drive. Use of the facilities was always seamless and guest card discounts were handy. However, when we did use the shuttle it was easy and prompt.

Would recommend and will stay again next year!

This is a townhouse in a beautiful resort with lots of amenities including golf, tennis, restaurants, etc. the house is in a good shape and fully equipped. The biggest issue was that the basement (where 2 out 3 beds are located) is very mouldy and you can see walls are pealing. That caused us some health problems. For this reason I would not recommend this property.

The original booked property was miss advertised.
No pool next to it.
Had to rent another property as the original ones bedroom was a few meters from a through road and right next to a noisy speed bump. The traffic noise was too loud to sleep .

Beautiful resort in Vale do Lobo but the rooms are very dated and in need of a refurb. The sofas were not very comfortable and there was only two chairs on the terrace so nowhere to lie down and chill out in the sun etc. Bathroom was ok but again very dated and need a updating.

Likes: Great beach with plenty of space and sunbeds. Friendly staff at the spa. Great staff (of particular mention, Isabela) at breakfast. Helpful drivers with the free shuttle service which also takes you to the other end of the beach where Izzy and julias restaurants are. Lovely beach walk. Accomodation beautiful and spacious albeit needing some redecorating detail, newer soft furninshings and some electrics unused and no longer working. Outdoor spaces are all kept pristine. The golf greens look immaculate. Safe an secure resort. Variety of dining choices. Entertainment at the square is good.

Dislikes: most things other than the outdoor pool incur an additional and sizable fee. One particular reception staff seems unhappy and abrupt in role. Breakfast quality adequate, not 5 star. Spa is dated and I think awaiting refurbishment. The resort is really bursting at the seams and ever growing - this means unless you are staying centrally it feels quite isolating especially with lots of empty properties in September. Definitely one of those places that gets its 5 star from amenities rather than that extra something special.

Would recommend requesting accomodation closer to the beach.

We enjoyed our week here. Roomy, comfortable, clean accommodation whilst a little dated. Excellent air conditioning which makes such a difference. Great on demand shuttle service which is essential around a huge estate if you have no car. Decent local dining options an enjoyable walk from our apartment. Fantastic local supermarket available by shuttle. Late return of deposit was a little disappointing and we had to ask for our welcome gift offered by Expedia. Excellent pool area but ridiculous pricing for a space at the beach!

The property, our apartment was nice, a bit tired and old, and air conditioning units on the balcony that were so loud it made it hard to sleep, when maintenance eventually came out to see it, they just shrugged and said 'they're old, nothing I can do'.
The resort is massive and they have a shuttle service to get you around to the beach or supermarket etc...this was very good, very quick, and very needed.
The resort has a selection of restaurants by the beach, we hated this area, it was like a bad food court, food was poor quality, the entertainment was bad karaoke and it was just full of young kids running and screaming everywhere. We had a 13 year old with us so we weren't expecting a couples holiday, but this was another level. Overall, the resort is pretty, the apartment/villa was good value, and the surrounding area is great with lots of lovely restaurants outside of the resort.

Bed comfort was horrendous… Very basic bedding, two separate beds in both bedrooms and at no point were we asked if we needed a double bed. The mattresses were the most basic you can get.

There were some very basic food items provided but not nearly enough.

Have stayed at this resort a number of times before and the stay has mostly been acceptable but this time it was not what we had experienced previously.

This was supposed to be a 5 star stay. I have done 5 star stays in Dubai.. you could dribe a jumbo through the difference to Vale do Lobo. Reception slightly offhand, have repeated the same instructions so many times that they are now bored so new customers come away and don't know where breakfast is (i handed in 4 out ot 5 breakfast vouchers as i has no idea of where i had to go.. asked twice).
Apartment badly maintained.. the bathroom was finished by a child re tiling. They left barely enough loo paper for 1 person for 4 days, the sliding doors would not shut properly making a safety risk.. all in all SO NOT 5 star. I wont repeat. Very expensive for very little value.
1 item of value was the welcome basket.. 2 bread rolls, 3 jams, sardines and cheese.. delicious.
The accomadation was dated, not secure and noisy at night. Think you can find better quality elsewhere locally.

Property 1243 is a very nice 2 bedroom town house in excellent condition but is currently surrounded by major construction works and therefore is extremely noisy from 8-5pm except Sundays.
They are building new pavements and roads outside the property and it’s also an entrance to larger construction site and therefore is used by large JCB’s.
We booked a 3 night stay and were informed by reception at Vale de Lobo that we would have been made aware of the construction site on our booking with Expedia. However this is not true.
Please avoid property 1243 during these major works. Vale de lobo did very little to help with this situation and just blamed us.

This is a masive resort with two golf courses that look very challenging. The restaurants were great, The Well was our favorite place to eat. The shuttle service is a must and very efficient. They included the Well pool and amenities which are great. We really enjoyed ourselves and would go back for sure.

A beautiful break. Well=toilets =horrendous

Gorgeous 5 days ,i was recuperating from a hip replacement 5 weeks before, i had my hip destroyed by Covid and my surgery had already been cancelled twice that summer because i got Covid in June ,3 days before my original operation. In summary we were desperate for a short flight,my husband wanted to join a tennis camp. Everyone, Everyone was so love,in particular our driver Jose,a complete gentleman. It was incredibly relaxing even though it tortured me not being able to swim. 2 comments,Well is crazy overpriced food and not brilliant, a caeser salad for 20l8 euro,crazy. Smash was beautiful, elegant staff and well priced delicious food,Montys staff also lovely. We were really impressed guys . The major thing, i was on 2 crutches as a young man after major surgery and the access to the Well was terrible but the worst was the awful smelly dark toilet in Well. No changing rooms,ot always smelled it was dark and Well pool and bar etc is really expensive. You guys need to sort thst out. We met loads of people with plenty of money who chose Smash instead! Staff in smash elegant and food half the price and lovely toilets

Property at this resort is very large definitely need a car or Bicycle, lots of walking, This townhouse is far walk to beach (we drove) it had 3 floors 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms on 3rd floor and first floor had pullout full couch and 1/2 bath sleeps 6 comfortably lots of space.Modern very clean house, pool was very clean, safe and quiet area, basic stock in the kitchen. Check-in is only after 5 pm
Grocery store is nearby
In order to access the gym, you need to pay €115 per person per week. Never have I had to pay at a resort for gym access….
Can not bring water or snacks to the pool area! You have to purchase them there no exceptions. You have to pay for beach chairs and umbrella at beach, house does not supply. They do have a shuttle service around the property you can call for. If you drive closer to the beach you will have to pay for parking.
In my opinion, you’re really only renting out the property. The resort is separate. Anything you want to do at the property you have to pay for. Pool towels were supplied

Vale do lobo is a great resort. Very high end. The apartment was standard so not the most plush. It was clean and had all facilities required including air conditioning Everything was functional but may benefit from a refurbishment. Neighbours were quite noisy but we were only staying for a short period. Reception did apologise but couldn’t do anything as we had not reported to them so were unaware. Service and resort facilities are excellent.

Property was lovely and in a good location , however the villa next door was being refurbished and they were using a disk cutter throughout the first three days. The hotel did give us access to the wellness centre and gym ( saunas and steam rooms were out of use) as a guesture. I think when I booked I should have been advised. The spa and gym gesture was nice and as the villa was privally owned they have little control over this but even so it affected our stay.

The property was well appointed and spacious with good decor and furnishings. The property was generally clean, however, the outside terraces were dusty and hadn’t been swept or washed. There was a general lack of attention to detail, eg., a dangerous plank of wood sticking up on one of the terraces and two enormous dead plants both inside and outside the property. There was building work to the right and left of the property which was noisy.

The resort was way too big for my taste - it could have been anywhere in the world. Not very Portugal-like
The service wasn’t great. Shuttle took 30-40 minute to get between places.
But the worse was coming home the second night to hundreds of ants in the bedroom and on the bed. Called reception and all they gave me was a can of bug spray to handle myself. I couldn’t even sleep in the room after spraying - the fumes were terrible and ants were still crawling. I slept on the uncomfortable plastic leather couch.
In the morning, the receptionist and manager said they couldn’t compensate me and laughed it off. I was furious.
If you come to Faro, stay in the city. Don’t waste your time or money on Vale de Lobo.

Nice rental well appointed.. however there is a lot of construction going on which spoils the view and can be a nuisance. The resort tried to compensate us with a late check-out and access to the spa. Several amenities were not in working order (hammam and sauna). Nice try but we will leave very disappointed…. Bottom line: guests’ stay vary vastly depending on the location of the rental…something to think about when booking a stay at Vale do Lobo.

Our unit was moldy, patched up from water damage, the shower leaked all over the floor, there was no housekeeping so there was a charge (12 euros) for fresh towels. To be fair we were not charged for the fresh towels after I told reception that I had used our towels to mop up the floor after the shower leaks. To top it off- there is charge to use the in-room safe. The resort shuttle (apparently only 1 small van) cannot handle the guest traffic after dinner so wait times were unacceptably long. It's a beautiful resort but needs some service and architectural upgrading. Many rental units are privately owned and offer short term rentals (like ours) so you get what seems leftover. However- the front desk staff were quite accommodating and friendly and informative in addressing our issues even though corporate polices tied their hands on being able to address some of the issues we encountered.

The staff acted like we were doing them a favour by letting us stay there.
Our villa shower was leaking and there was extensive wall damage, so it had been happening a while. Leak was all the way into the kitchen so if gone unnoticed anyone could have slipped and fell.

Had to take a shuttle anywhere we wanted to go (beach, etc)
Noisy neighbour with dogs barking all the time and TV blaring outside

Although this was a beautiful property it is currently next to a large construction project so lots of hammering and saws throughout the day. The resort is gigantic, there's only one shuttle van, we waited up to 15 minutes a number of times to get yo various locations. The pool service is the worst on the planet, six male servers wandering about lost. The restaurant prices are very very expensive, the FG ood mediocre however the people are nice. The resort staff were always friendly and helpful. This place is really designed for golfers, spend most of the time on the fairway and minimal time at the room. If you do decide to book here bring lots of cash and good earplugs.

Dining at restaurants along the beach and to the east and west of VDL was excellent. Highly recommend were Bold Octopus, Passeo2, Bovino, Brooks, and the Cheeky Pub and for fun was BJ’s Beach Club. Live Music everywhere. The Villa was equipped with small but full kitchen, washing machine, iron and hairdryer. Shuttle staff was always on time and most courteous. Ubers were great as well! A yes, we must return!

Completely equipped and really functional. Used as a base for four days golfing and worked very well for that. It was a bit soulless, but it was in great condition and it would have been great even for cooking in, which I didn't do. No instructions for the TV and some streaming kit, but otherwise good. The power did trip while I was there, but the VdL staff fixed in within hours.

Disappointing and damp space. Couldn’t really hang out there because there was no outside space or sofa. Felt a bit clinical. The bed was very hard and uncomfortable. Cleanliness was acceptable. Wouldn’t recommend this one to be your choice of apartment for a holiday. But I’m sure other Villas and apartments might be much nicer to stay in the resort. The Resort itself is lovely and has a lot to offer for a great stay.

Allocated an apartment on the edge of the development for our overnight stay. Adequate, but would not have been suitable for a holiday in that comfort seating in the lounge/diner comprised 2 bean bags. Neither was there any outdoor seating area or a pleasant view. While not sited against a main road, passing traffic could be clearly heard throughout the night - poor seals on windows and doors. Over bath shower - a bit dated and damaged flooring in the bathroom summed up the facility - adequate but in need of a make over. Despite these comments about the apartment VdL Resort overall is an excellent facility.

This property was lovely it did however feel slightly unfinished . As an example for a 2 bedroom villa it had a 2 seater sofa.. It got sun most of the day till about 4.00. Cleaners seemed to arrive every 2/3 days but the reception staff were really unhelpful . I asked on checkout to stay till 5 rather than 11 as the villa was not booked out the following day and they wanted to charge 680 euro’s for what is essentially an extra 5 hours . On our day of arrival we couldn’t check in till 5.30 and we’re offered no drinks or help with facilities so it totally wasted our day . Because of the resort staff I would not stay again .

Our family of four stayed in a lovely villa with a small pool -- and had a great time. The bus service around the community is useful and the beaches are just beautiful. Our only complaint was around customer service with the staff - they promised to help us with a sea cruise and dropped the ball, and gave us some incorrect information about beach towels. Nothing insurmountable, but a little disappointing. All in all though, we highly recommend this as a place to unwind and enjoy the Algarve.

Great stay!

Really enjoyed our stay! As it was a short break to see family, we didn’t bother hiring a car. That worked fine as the hotel mini bus service worked just fine for us moving around the site and using the local taxis for when we went out.

Beautiful European resort with many amenities Americans will enjoy. Golf is spectacular, a variety of good restaurants, the apartments are lovely and the spa is great. Even though it was too cold to enjoy the beach during our stay, we had a wonderful vacation here!

Perfect Holiday Destination

Lovely apartment, had everything we needed and more. Fabulous staff.
Lots of things to do. Defiantly recommend the buy one get one cocktails at the lounge bar. Julia’s had a lovely view and great food to. We loved it so much we've booked to go again next year.

A great place to chill out.

Had a great time at VDL resort. Spacious quiet apartment. Lovely walks along superb beaches. My wife is celiac so we ate in and cooking facilities were excellent. Hot tub was very relaxing. A great place to chill out. Best bar was Maria’s in Dunas Dorado - very comfortable looking over the beach and sea. Had a good round of golf on Ocean Course - it was very hot so played early and it took less time to play.

Fantastic for a relaxing short stay

My partner and I had a fantastic time at this location. Our villa was spacious, well designed and comfortable. The private pool was excellent though at times we wished it was heated. The main bedroom was large with lots of facilities including large ensuite bathroom and safe. The resort itself is enormous with a resort bus available to get to the key places. Local facilities such as restaurants were high quality but very expensive. For a short relaxing stay we chose really well and it is hard to fault the place.

A nice surprise

Absolutely loved it. On our booking it said basic apartment so we were a bit apprehensive. To open the door to a one bedroom house, two floors, garden, bbq and pool was an amazing surprise. I'll be back for sure.

Vale do Lobo- Family of 6 in a Villa with pool

An amazing resort and incredible villa. 3 bedrooms all with en-suite and beautifully furnished throughout. The highlight being an infinity pool in the accommodation that allowed for the kids to splash around in the comfort of our home.
Not cheap but well worth it

Fantastic holiday in lovely resort !

What a fantastic base for an activity holiday - many options for cycle rides, long beach walks, golf, padel and tennis and bird watching, as well as relaxing by the pool or eating at the many restaurants on site. Resort supermarket has very good range and the free shuttle bus makes planning a lot easier. Only down side was apartments have very thin walls, floors etc so our last 2 days were spoiled by disgraceful Brit hooligans abroad ,shouting, whistling, drunken noisy behavior at all times of day & night. No fault of staff or resort as they did issue warnings when complaints were made, just the disgraceful lack of respect of British tourists abroad.

Lots of potential

Lovely apartment spoilt by missing little finishes,no airer for washing,few cooking utensils, no instuction for washer or TV etc only two hard outdoor chairs. Complex too big so had to use courtesy bus which was a bit erratic Resort had good proximity to beach. Nice green setting.

Large well appointed apartment

Found the apartment very comfortable with excellent facilities.It is situated in a quiet location near the beach restaurants and all sports facilities.We had been to the resort before and this visit lived up to our expectations.The only criticism which we had was that all facilities surrounding the pool area were well kept and maintained, the pool area itself was not. The pool area itself was in need of general maintenance .There was litter uncollected,in the surrounding area,damaged walkways needing repaired,rusty metalwork and poor toilet facilities.,with no running water for washing.
