The hotel was nice and had a lovely pool. The breakfast had lots of choice but not great quality. The pool bar food was very expensive and again lacked quality.

The cleaners were very loud in the morning between 8:30-9:30 every day and didn’t tidy away dirty plates/mugs. The turn down service was too early being between 4-5pm.

However there was a complimentary shuttle service to the beach which was convenient.

The hotel had a great table tennis and foosball table which was enjoyable. The area felt safe but you had to get a taxi if you wanted to go and explore further.

Check in was not so smooth, there were issues with the room I payed online and to make the switch the process was shaky. Staff should be more prompt. The hotel rooms need a revamp for a 5 star resort but the pool area is really good!

If this were a 3 Stars hotel I would give them a better rating. However, the experience for been a 5 starts hotel is not complete.

Room was pack of mosquitos and they switch us from the room to another. Hotel changers you £2 for every bottle of water, and 5 € for every 75cl of water its absurd to say that the hotel is 5 stars and pay extra for water.

As well as the sunbeds at the beach, they charge you €25 per day for a couple of beds. Beach is all right. Great location, great service from staff. Good breakfast ( however no bananas or any fruit that I you can take for the day) good food for dinner.

Beautiful hotel . But the bar beside the reception the noise that is can be heard in the actual hotel rooms . When you have an early start and the noise is still going on at 1am it is quite frustrating . The rooms are in a circular direction and the sound travelled the whole way through the hotel and we were on the the 5th floor ..

Still offered good value

This was our 8th stay at the Ria , and it still offers great value for money.
Excellent location , easy walk to beach , and within a short drive to all the amazing restaurants in the area.
We were in room 503 , which was clean and mainly good condition , although the bathroom needed a little bit of TLC , cracked grouting etc, however I noted that the rooms either side of us were being stripped down ready for some form of refurb, and as the hotel shuts for the winter on the 31st October , I assume now we have departed our room will also be stripped down for refurb.

Ria Park Hotel & Spa was a great choice for us. It had all the facilities we needed as a young family and was literally a short walk away from the beach which was one of the main reasons we booked with Ria. A special mention also for Ria kids club for keeping our son well entertained. Would happily recommend Ria, their staff were also very helpful and friendly. Thank you.

A very tired hotel. Not a chance it's a 5 star

A very tired hotel, which is frankly just about hitting the lower end of being a 4 star hotel. The service is at a snail pace, and the staff all seem so miserable to be there. The rooms are old and are in need of an entire refresh. The beds are quite comfortable at least.

This was our 6th stay at Ria Park, a hotel we chose due to its location, walking distance to the beach, and with in a short distance of numerous restaurants.
You can not fault the hotel for cleanliness, it appears that they are staff constantly cleaning. The buffet breakfast offers a good choice of hot and cold food, and there is the ability to order additional items.
There are two negatives from this visit. Firstly the hotel appears to be attracting large party groups, which we’ve not witness on previous visits.The week we were there, we witnessed a number of large groups, who were freely being served alcohol by the bar staff, clearly these sort of groups bring in welcome income to the hotel especially in bar receipts, but the hotel staff and management have a duty to ensure that these parties do not spoil the holidays of the other guest. We witnessed a fight in the bar area which the bar staff did nothing to stop, and the reception staff also had a full view of this event, and choose to do nothing. I brought this to the attention of the duty manager at check out, but the only response I got was why did I not bring it to the managers attention when it happened! Despite as previously mention the duty manager having full view of this event.
Secondly the hotel has a nice pool area, we were there late April so start of season, and the hotel wasn’t full. I noted 50 sunbeds stacked under covers, I`am not sure where these would fit without sitting on each other

Only one tiny thing lacking and that would be a coffee machine in the room.

We booked this as a last minute & weren’t sure what to expect. We rally liked the Ria Park, it was immaculately clean, breakfast was fresh and delicious with a great choice of food. The shuttle to the beach was excellent and always available. Given it was late July the were always beds at the pool and the hotel never felt crowded. Very peaceful.
Staff were very helpful and friendly.
We will definitely return.

Clean spacious relaxed- really excellent swimming pool very well maintained. We dined in the restaurant 3 times- the food was very good. The service professional. Breakfast was a high standard and a wide choice. We used the adequate gym and booked massages.The grounds were pretty. Our room was perfect for the price and maidservice was excellent.
My biggest gripe was lack of atmosphere in the evening. British cover songs ( Yes we can tell) don’t work. There was a pianist playing non atmospheric music a couple of times. I’ve come to Portugal and would prefer to hear Portuguese traditional music as a backdrop, and in the evening more of the same, or some background jazz suitable for the cocktail bar. It’s dead in the evening and I couldn’t see much being done about it. Happy hour? Canapés/ lanterns and candle light/ more sophisticated music/ better house wine…it’s not hard. Wine tasting evenings for an hour with local cheeses? A show if traditional Portuguese snacks? You might fill your restaurant more on the back of it? Anyway just ideas from my travels all over the world. I did have a good week overall many thanks.
Ps- the shop which could be a goldmine selling traditional baskets pottery and Portuguese wares was pretty empty. I bought a glass bead bracelet from a choice of just 7. So now there are 6. Baffling. What a waste!

Nice setting but overrated star ranking

Ria Park boosts 5-stars, however, this is far from true in an international comparison, more like 3.5-4 stars. It has a a nice setting, with a lovely pool area and guests also have a private beach access, with friendly staff, within a short walking distance or shuttle service. However, many small items were quite bothersome; e.g. the keycard system was very sensitive and I had to revalidate the door card once or even twice per day. None of the maids spoke English and they were quite late in the day with cleaning service and one day I had to ask for this at 4pm. The fire alarm was activated once, however, there was no follow up message to hotel guests as it was a false alarm. The outdoor breakfast area was full of wasps, and despite complaints, the staff seemed to ignore this. The hotel bar area was uninviting and no music or other entertainment was offered. I was left with the feeling that the hotel management was not at all attentive to the guests wishes and remarks, and remained unresponsive.

Have stayed here several times as really like the quiet location close to beach and restaurants. Very clean and well maintained hotel with spacious rooms and nice pool /garden. A few very small things could improve to make a true 5* (e.g. Fresh juice and freshly cooked breakfast to order, more furniture /soft furnishings in room).

Our stay at this hotel has been absolutely excellent. We were a party of seven and were always offered to be sat together at breakfast or when we ate in the evening. Watch out for hidden costs

Hotel in an amazing location and shuttle bus very convenient to get to the beach. Rooms leaves little to be desired for the money you pay. no water supplied in the rooms and again an extra cost. . Having to pay €15 was ridiculous . All in all I felt a little ripped off ! Breakfast was pretty basic but nice .

Overall a very nice stay in a classic contemporary hotel. Rooms very nice & spent a lovely few hours by the pool which was well maintained with comfortable beds & quality towels. Restaurant by pool was also a treat with white linen & experienced waiters. Piano being played in reception was an added feature.

All the staff were great, room was fine, good selection of tv channels, shower wasn’t very powerful mind. Stayed in a suite. Uber from airport was 25mins and cost €20 great. Restaurant wasn’t upto much considering the price of meals. €30 for a steak and some microwaved veg isn’t great. Pool bar was very decent, used it a lot. Breakfast buffet was very nice, great selection.

Hotel was nice enough, quite small which isn’t a vibe you get from the pictures, only 1 pool on site and the other is a walk away and not great. Would feel quite crowed if all the rooms were booked out, didn’t seem that much room around the pool. The beach is about a 15minute walk, not ideal. Booked it because we thought it’d be great for little one with the the kids club and all the toys indoor and out to keep them occupied while we swam and sunbathed. They were off site and all closed and locked up, same as the beach sunbeds and sunshades. We went very end of May so was expecting most things to be available considering the price we paid. Pretty disappointed as it was a choice between Ria and Pine Cliffs for the same money and chose Ria because of all the children’s toys which our son never even got to use. Wasn’t made clear anywhere in the booking.

Nice hotel - staff, food and room were good but I wouldn't advertise it as a Spa hotel, the Spa only opened for 2 hours per day with limited facilities so we didn't get any opportunity to use it. Also disappointing to have to pay 10 e per day for beds at the beach and no opportunity to buy water or similar without a long walk to local beach bars.

could do with an upgrade/refurb as a little tired. Staff excellent. Pool could be biggest especially a shallow end for children. Should not charge for beds on the private beach. Breakfast buffet could be better/update. Lovely location though. Should be a better spa, play room and needs a gym. I would say more 4 than 5 star at the moment.

Nice hotel, good food, great waiters at the lobby bar, great facilities and grounds, close to the beach.

Noisy at awkward times of the day, late night, midnight and mornings. This meant we could not have a restful sleep and/or a decent lie in. Maybe related to the location of our rooms, as the works/drilling/stamping/dragging of objects was so loud.
Unfortunately, though the hotel staff were called to witness the noise at different times, they did nothing significant to help and the noise continued throughout our stay.
This has reflected in the overall rating of 3
I would recommend this hotel but will also hint friends on the above to either be prepared or review room allocation ahead of their stay.

Luxurious from the minute you step through doors

Only stayed for a short break. The rooms are spacious and are cleaned daily. The beds are probably the most comfortable you’ll ever sleep in. The pool area is lovely with plenty of sun beds close to the pool or in a shaded garden area. There is one thing you notice around this hotel is the wonderful smell, probably from the complimentary Molten Brown toiletries. The from reception to the housekeepers the staff are friendly and helpful. A lovely place to stay but a little on the expensive side.

Disappointing and not good value for the money

We booked a three day short break via Expedia. The booking didn’t make the hotel internal booking system so it took over 1 hour 40 mins to allocate Us a room. The room was dated, floors dusty and unmapped , there was mildew on the bathroom ceiling and were only offered 1 small bottle of water for a three night stay. When mentioning these issues to reception. We were told to drink from the tap. The receptionist also said our issues were not anything there were aware of. ( despite showing the pictures below ). If you get allocated room 120 it is directly below a store room which is in constant use so don’t expect peace and quiet.( scrapping of items on the floor and banging of doors and supplies ). On the plus side the pool Area is fabulous and the pool bar food is excellent with great parking and access. The location is also good with a ten minute walk to the beach.

Pleasant hotel a short walk from a nice beach. Several good restaurants on the beach. Nice pool but unheated and cold at the end of May. Indoor heated pool though as well.nice balconies. Location 25 min from Faro airport and Lagos an hour drive. You will want a car if you plan to visit the many beautiful beaches in the Algarve.

I have stayed in a number of 5 star hotels in Portugal, Conrad, Vila Vite Parc, and I would not class the RIA Park Hotel and spa as 5 star, it’s a very good 4 star but not 5.

Great location with a 10 min walk down to a lovely beach offering access to a number of restaurants, with my favourite still being Marias
Friendly staff, who resolved the two issues I encountered immediately
Rooms clean and sizeable although a little dated
Price, compared to the Conrad and Vila Vite Parc the rooms are very competitively priced and if you want location and see the hotel as a “base” there is nothing wrong with it.

So why not 5 star, it is a little dated in appearance both outside and in, more importantly for me is you receive 3 small bottles of water in the room on arrival, and I mean small coke size bottles, these are not replaced daily, or at turn down , once you’ve drunk them you can “purchase” replacements! Perhaps it’s a little thing but not something I expect in a “5 star” hotel.

Pay out for everything!

Nice place, friendly staff, good breakfast. 5 Star only because it's got indoor & outdoor pool, this hotel was 4 star, at best.
Whilst satisfied with our visit, the Ria Park is isolated and everything costs too much money: taxi to Val do Lobo €14 each way - 3 miles, Vilamoura €25, bike hire €17 (rubbish bikes), beds on beach €15, soda & lime €5, dinner in hotel very expensive and the beach restaurants, whilst good quality, were averaging €60 per night, without starter.
So, in its own right a nice hotel, but due to it being so isolated & everything being expensive, I wouldn't revisit.

Could be so much better

The hotel itself is beautiful in a wonderful location. Sadly, when we were there, it was badly let down by a number of relatively small issues that added up. The maids came at 4.30 pm to turn down the beds - this was when we were relaxing and getting ready for the evening and meant they never came back. Therefore towels were not replaced or even hung up so were damp in the morning. The coffee tray was not topped up and a broken hairdryer remained broken for all our stay despite staff being told about it 4 times.

The lawns obviously hadn't been mown for at least a month, which made them look really scruffy. All these things should not happen in what purports to be a 5* hotel - it would be poor in a 3*!

Individual members of staff were terrific but obviously the hotel lacks any proper management structure, which is a shame as it could be so good.

Our visit certainly wasn't helped by being told on arrival that we would be moved to another hotel. After some polite, but firm, discussion they told us our room was available after all - what an unbelievably dreadful start - quite disgraceful.

So sad as the hotel really is gorgeous!
