Overall, good price for the area. Close to where we needed to be. We were in a bit of off season so had no trouble parking in their small lot. Breakfast was served to you so limited choices but it was sufficient and they do have diff types of coffee. Service was great. It had everything we needed.

Although the rooms are fairly small, they are comfortable. The noise from the street is very loud and persistent all night long so wear ear plugs if you get a room streetside. The breakfast was lovely with excellent cappuccino & espresso and a nice selection of meats and pastries. It is very close to the San Giovanni train station which is a plus. The staff was super friendly and helpful.

This hotel was conveniently located just minutes from the train station and also a place called Osella Bella, which has a partnership with Bounce. This is a hostel that allows you to store your luggage, since this is not available at the train station. This was great for me since I did not want to carry two heavier pieces of luggage with me for a day and a half trip to Lake Como. It was very affordable too. Literally located down the same street from this hotel. The breakfast was very good and the staff was friendly and very helpful. Close to some great restaurants, but if you are there on a weekend, you must have reservations. I finally got a seat at the 5th restaurant I tried.

H.com really lied about this hotel...their information on several hotels in Italy was all poor. I don't think they have actually looked at the properties. I've used them for 10+ years and now with Expedia owning them the quality of the loyalty program and the truth of their ads about the properties has gone way down! Engadina, called themselves a 2 star in Como..but 1 star is more like it. And the H.com ad for the hotel pitches it like a 3 star, its NOT! The hotel was only marginally clean, location was good, the standard European breakfast was fine, cheese, sliced meat, bread and juice. Yogurt if you wanted some. Beds in the rooms need replacing and ours had a separate twin bed with the double, but was advertised as a sofa...the pictures are not what the condition of the rooms are like. The hotel is trying to be a 2 star, but has a way to go. Expedia and H.com should really review their Italian properties and get their star rating right...just tell the truth. When you are comparing properties in a place you have not been you need the truth to know how much to pay, based on accurate property descriptions. If I was a kid looking for a hostel Engadina is fine, but if I'm an older couple....it doesn't work. I know Como is expensive, but good information would have helped me set a good budget for the hotel in the City. And we experienced this problem several times in our Month in Italy. Never before had such bad information from H.com in 10+ years.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Engadina! It was clean and only a 5 minute walk from the center of Como. The hotel could use some updating but the room itself was perfect for a weekend getaway. It was a great value for location and the staff was friendly.

A really good 3-star hotel in Como

As a 3-star hotel, the room has been comfortable and supplied with sufficient amenities. The hotel was easy to get to from Como San Giovanni train station too, and is not too secluded. A bus stop is within very close proximity to the hotel as well. Desk staff members had all been very nice and helpful.

I have stayed at this property a number of times and have always been satisfied. The Hotel is a short walk from the centre of town, has good value standard accommodation, quiet rooms and friendly staff. the breakfasts are served to you in the morning and there is a good selection... overall, good value for money.

Good Hotel for a basic one night stay. Close to Train station and Lake Como, both in walkable distance. Staff were nice. Electric kettle or microwave were not provided in room but staff helped us to heat our own food in their kitchen microwave and provided us hot water for tea whenever we asked. I would recommend them any day.

Room 114 needs renovation

Staff is friendly, but the room I stayed was terrible. Shower cabin has retractable door which fold inwards, almost impossible to get out normaly.

Bed has a spring matras which is broken. Springs gives a sound with every movement in bed, and feels uncomfortable.

Great budget accommodation in Como. Only a few minutes walk from San Giovanni train station, 24hr supermarket, Lake Como and the town centre. Facilities are basic but reflective of the cost of the hotel and the hotel is clean and tidy. Decent breakfast to set you up for the day. A tiny issue with room was dealt with professionally and promptly. Ideal base for Monza Grand Prix (cheaper than Milan).

Stayed in the Engadina for 5 nights in July. As a 3 star it fully met our expectations. The staff even made us a packed up breakfast one morning for a 6:30 start.
Only criticism was free parking in front of the hotel is limited to 3 spaces meaning we had to pay 4 euros for a couple of the nights.

Quite near train station and not too far from old town. Free wifi and bottled water in room. Sadly no coffee tea maker but receptionist would gladly make one for you when requested. Breakfast is substantial to start the day. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Horrible hotel

Horrible hotel! Avoid at all cost. Smells like an infirmary. Rooms are tiny, even the larger room we booked. We looked at the room and decided we could not stay here. This looks like a “by the hour” hotel. The owner was very uncooperative and would not refund any of our prepaid fee. I would avoid this place like the plague.

Cozy place by the lake

I stayed for 5 days at the hotel. I left the hotel after breakfast and returned at night everyday. So my experience is based on this.
It is nicely decorated and clean. The staff is nice and courteous. The room is spacious and so is the bathroom. You won't feel squeezed in a box. The lobby and dinning room are decorated with a typical Italian design.
Breakfast was included with the rate and I figured it would be like a croissant and a cappuccino( a traditional Italian), but it turned out it is much more. The menu include, croissant, bread, cheese (cut and spread), salami, yogurt, juice, jam, honey....I think there is more. Choice of coffees and teas. You have to ask when you order breakfast. You won't leave hungry.
The room was clean and nicely decorated. The wifi connection was good. the bathroom has a shower box. The shower box is so flimsy, but does it is job. I prefer it to a shower curtain. it also has a heated towel rack.
The hotel is close to lake Como and the stadium. There is a bar in the hotel building. There is a carrefour market open 24/7 that is a 5 minutes walk away . There are many shops around but nothing for clothes nor for famous brands. To get to the main shopping areas it takes about 15 minutes walk. Keep in mind that Como lacks a downtown. (according to my definition of a downtown) You have a hub where visitors gather peppered with coffee shops and restaurants. The hub is along the shore of lake Como.

Very close to Lake Como to go for walks. Also close to a big grocery store. If you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs as the hotel is at a very busy street. Breakfast is typical carbohydrate overdose, so might as well skip and just ask to take coffee/cappuccino up to room, which I did. Nice to have a bar fridge in room. There is no kettle, so travel with your own if you drink a lot of tea. Fast wifi to watch videos or listen to music online. Max 10min walk to train station.

I found this hotel by happenstance as I was looking for an inexpensive hotel while attending a conference. It was located in town at a reasonable distance from the conference site yet close to all transit options - bus, train, ferry. It would be best described as family suitable yet provided acceptable accommodation for business travelers - computer access and wifi (although I am old school in that regard). It was quiet even though it was located on a major thoroughfare and there was a family with a baby on my floor. Even at my low rate, air conditioning, breakfast and a small fridge were provided.
I would use this hotel again and it provides a good standard to compare with other 3-star hotels.
The staff was helpful and unobtrusive.

We really need enjoyed our stay at Hotel Engadina. We know the area well and were within short walking distances of the main square in Como. A local supermarket was nearby and this was very convenient. Breakfast was delicious. Also, we would highly recommend the bar next door with great service and happy faces.

Stayed at the Engadina in April 2017 with my family of 3.

We all were bitten by the bed bugs all over our bodies (see photo). We tried to communicate with the hotel but they ignored our emails and never even acknowledged any of them.

Nice clean hotel but noisy after 5:30 am

Location is great with walking distance to the lake and touristy, shopping areas. The hotel staff is friendly but their local knowledge is limited to normal routine areas of knowledge and anything beyond that you have to do your own research. We once asked for recommendation of a German restaurant and they sent us to an Italian one. The rooms are decent and minimal. Breakfast is minimal but sufficient. The safe instructions are all in Italian. Probably the key cons is that our rooms face the street and it can be noisy starting at 5:30 am in the morning.

Misleading Trivago advert photo

Average/medium in every category.

Minus was that the photo in Trivago's hotel booking system is untrue, it shows a waterfront restaurant on Lake Como when Engadina has no such restaurant, the hotel is 1/4 km back from the lakefront and has NO lake view. This false information disappointed my family greatly.

The room wall safes are unsafe. After locking it and checking it was properly locked, on returning from breakfast we found it open. The mechanism's battery had gone flat and its fallback mode is 'open' - quite unsatisfactory.

Excellent medium size hotel for the independent or budget traveller. Ideally placed for lakefront, stations and Come itself - nothing is too far away. The Continental breakfast is magnificent and sets you up for the whole day - you may not need to lunch. For travellers using public transport Como S.G station is about 300m away, and Como Lago about 500m - a flat stroll. Also bus station next to Como Lago with lake boats opposite.

Convenient clean and friendly

An average 3 star hotel in relation to facilities but if you are looking for a clean, convenient and friendly hotel at a resonable price then this will suffice. There is a small amount of parking otherwise it's meters around the corner. Staff are very friendly room was clean, air con worked ok. It is not far from town or the lake but don't expect any views, it is in a built up area. Breakfast was sufficient. Bar area is nothing special but have to say the drinks were the cheapest we found in Como, 3 euro for a beer or a large brandy.

I really liked this hotel. The staff are friendly and the internet is so much better than other hotels in Italy. It was even possible to stream video easily.
The rooms are small and fairly basic, but they have a fridge, good wifi and good aircon so no complaints at all. Breakfast was quite good.

A place to stay on a budget

The hotel room is small but good for an individual who is visiting the Lake Como area. The location is right next to the water and near a lot of amenities. The rooms was a bit small but I did not spend a lot of time in my rooms so it was OK.

The staff was curious, spoke good english, and helped me practice my Italian. The breakfast being provided was a great amenity!

The towels are a bit rough but that has been a trend I have noticed at Italian Hotels. This was not a big deal.

It was very easy to leave the room, walk 2 minutes to the lake and be able to walk to the square or other areas in under 10 minutes.

The bed was comfortable. There is no room service but there is a bar next door with good food options and very friendly staff.

Good hotel for a quick stop in Comi

Stayed only one night en route to Milan, but ideal location and was just what I needed. 10-15min walk from the Cathedral, 10mins with cases from the station and 5mins from the lake.
Room was very clean and had all the expected facilities. Breakfast was just the right amount for me And the staff were all very friendly. I'd certainly stop overnight here again

I chose this hotel because my usual hotel was full.... 10 minutes walk from Como Lago station... The hotel room was clean, quiet and comfortable... with air conditioning, and outside adjustable shutters... the bathroom was clean, with a very good shower... Excellent Wifi... the staff where polite and friendly, and there was a general nice feel to the hotel... breakfast began nice and early, and had a good choice, with excellent coffee... the area the hotel is located in is not the most picturesque, but it's only several minutes away from the lake front... very near a busy road, but with windows closed, no noise... and the price was well worth it.

I wanted a hotel near the station (this was a 5 minute walk).. The hotel is a simple and clean and has friendly staff. The breakfast was basic. Although I had a very pleasant stay I thought it was expensive for the price. Once I knew the city centre was only another 5 minutes walk I would have picked a hotel closer to the shops for the same price.

Average sized rooms, nice walls & beds. Zero housekeeping in 4 days of stay. No emptying of bins, cleaning mopping of rooms, No manager or housekeeper present except for a few hours every day . No change of towels or even more than one shampoo or soap in 4 days of stay. Very friendly owner Stephanie gives good advise. But must employ someone to look after rooms. Walls too thin & can hear the slightest noise in adjoining room

The room is basic but has all that is needed. The firm bed was comfortable enough for me and the shuttered window makes for a good blackout. There was some noise from the neighboring rooms, but not excessive. The location is on a main street so at the front I expect it would be noisy, but my room was at the back so this was not a problem.

The breakfast is simple but plentiful. the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Overall good value for money... I didn't expect 5 star... so I was not dissapointed.

Nice hotel walking distance to the town center.

The hotel staff was wonderful. Only 3 parking spaces for guests so you need to find parking and pay. Walking distance to town and harbor to take tours. There is a small bar next door for drinks and snacks. The street is a little noisy so you need to keep your windows closed. Internet access was difficult to get.

Great location

Walking distance to Lake Como and Historic center, free internet and free breakfast included. Parking is very limited. For 1 night it was a great option.

Great if you don't mind 10 min walk to town

It's about a 10 min walk from the town centre where you catch the ferries/cruises. There is a lido public pool about 10 mins away next to the Villa Olmo and it has a beach area there too. All the best places to eat are in the centre, so if you don't mind a 10 minute walk you'll like this hotel. It's extremely clean, has air con, a safe in the room and the continental. Real fast was good with very pleasant staff.

Bad hotel experience

The hotel was appalling. There was not enough adequate parking. The beds were rubbish. The Wi Fi did not work. Diaster, don't go there!

Look for others.

Clean room, nice staff and small but nice bathroom. Breakfast very simple, no view and our room was very small and hot. Unable to regulate air conditioning. Wifi only available in foyer. We saw much nicer hotels for not much more closer to the water.

Location location location

Our overall impression of this hotel was very good. Considering its location, this hotel is value for money. If you only need a place to sleep, then this is it. It had everything you need for a short stay, it was clean, and the staff were very helpful. The parking permit for the blue zone is a great arrangement.

Hotel Engadina, Como

Room was a bit small and lacked storage space. There was a wardrobe but no drawer space.
Previous visitors had criticised noise especially from traffic, but although we had a room overlooking the road, we did not find traffic noise much of a problem and quickly got used to it.
Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and worked very hard.
Breakfast was basic but substantial, staff again at pains to be helpful
