The 6 floor open balcony door was broken opened all way causing danger to life reported to reception nothing was done. If i had slipped railing it below my knees it would have been a fatal outcome. Anyone with kids must avoid Incase of death injury. Also the promised to caulk ne a taxi to bus station and they never did and then refused ion the day of my travels

Cancel your booking if you’ve made one!!!

Photos on the website are very deceptive. Upon arrival not even greeted or welcomed but instead glared at by a miserable looking man.
The hotel is run down poorly maintained and cleanliness of the rooms are not at its highest standards. Breakfast was literally the same every morning. We asked our room to be changed as the fan was making a loud racket every time it came on kept waking us up. But receptionist ( who was very rude btw) refused saying there is nothing wrong with it. The floor board has cracks and so did the furniture. The lighting in the room is diabolical! You cannot see what you’re doing as there’s no main light in the room. I was disgusted at the shower and how filthy it was.

I don't recommend this hotel.

My staying in Dora Hotel was not so good for many reasons on behalf of \"4 stars hotel\".
If the hotel was 2 or 3 stars it would be OK.
1- Cleanliness is 5/10, within 3 nights we have stayed, they have changed towels only one time and they didn't change blankets، they have just arrange and fold.
2- They ignored my request for drinking water, and said you can drink from restaurant. That's why I was purchasing drinking water myself. (they put only 2 pottles of 300 ml. water everyday, and last day when they have found a big bottle of water which I have purchased, they didn't put any drinking water!)
3- Air condition was out of service، and their argument was: they put the air condition on only in the summer although the temperature was 22 C. Other employee lied to me and said they are working on repairing the A/C system.
4- It is normal to ask reception to order for taxi, whae I have asked them, simply said you can get it from out side.
5- Some of the staff fit to work in a vegetable shop, not in 4-stars hotel..
6- Hotel is located in industrial area (car repairs carage).
7- Usually all hotels which I have booked for many years they didn't withdrown money from credit card which I mention during the booking before checking in, but Dora Hotel has withdrown amount before I have arrived hotel and checked in?! Although it is very clearly mentioned in Hotels.com that the credit card which mentioned in the booking only for confirming the booking.

Not conveniently located. Person next door was smoking all night, my husband was coughing for three days, it wasn't until the third day we got switched. Dirty room, with mold in the showers, towels were not changed, we had to ask them. Breakfast very basic with no fruits, and left overs, cold cake

great hotel in a bad area. car repair garages to look at. wrecked cars close to hotel.pretty run down place.you have to walk in road because paths are either blocked with cars or none existent. just a base to sleep.nothing of interest in vicinity. 10 to 15 minute walk to Taksim Square.

The staff was very friendly and helpful with whatever requests we had. Gave us a free upgrade to a suite which was really nice. The property could have been in a better state as I got myself locked in the bathroom as the lever on the inside to open is not there. Luckily there is a phone in the bathroom so the reception came to my rescue. That problem was not fixed during our stay and we switched the door handle from the outside to the inside every time we went in and out.

Not very welcoming. Receptionist looked frustrated. On arrival one of the lights did not work and they said they would get a technician out in the morning which never happened. There was no hand wash a simple thing in the bathroom and when it was requested I was just given more body wash. It Was not a welcoming hotel at all and defo not a 5 star. Breakfast was ok ish - nothing amazing how eve rondos notice all the plates were dirty/chipped real
Bad and the doors leading in to the street kept being left open which was bringing in a lot of wind. I saw guests touching all the bread rolls which put me off. Coffee/tea was horrible.

I stayed at the hotel for 14 days.
It’s 12 minutes walking away from Taksim square and the metro station. There’s free shuttles to taksim square every hour on specific times of the day.
Arda, Tunahan, and Aray were so helpful and friendly and the customer service is really great.
Cleanliness is fair but the overall experience at the hotel is so good.

This property external shape is not at all looking like the uploaded picture on expedia in terms of building shape, entrance or the surroundings. The location is noisey, overcrowded with cars and a combination of auto tires and battery shops, cloths and mechanics shops. The location from my point of view is not ideal for a hotel. Breakfast was not good at all in terms of varieties, quantities, quality or even presentation.The washroom was not in a good condition and water faucet required a change as water was splashing all over around the basin

This is the worst hotel i have ever been at. I stayed there fir two weeks and everyday was full of surprises and stress from staff. The cards stops working after cleaning the room. The staff are very rude and unprofessional. I had another room for my cousin who had to leave earlier due to emergency so we returned the key and they said they will refund our 5 days.
Even though they rented my cousin room to someone else, they never refunded our money. They are bunch of crooks running this hotel. I recommend booking at Titanic hotel which is 100 meters away. Their breakfast area is usually full too and its same thing everyday.
Do not go here because it will be stress from a moment you get it

Rooms are so tiny that you cannot walk once you put 1 suitcase. There was an issue with the light in my room that does not turn off. I called the reception no one came to fix it. Two nights, I could not sleep because of the light problem. Towels were old and torn off. The breakfast was fine.

The only thing that was correct on the Expedia site was the location. they had a restaurant, it only opened for a minimal and poor breakfast and was closed for the rest of the day. they had no bar facilities. and when I checked in I was told I had to pay for my room even though the room payment was collected by Expedia in advance. After two days of trying to have the credit card payment refunded this has still not happened, one week later!. I had very heavy baggage on this working trip and was told there was a shuttle to the airport, this turned out to be a taxi to the nearest bus station where I could catch bus to the airport.

Very nice hotel in not a very good neighbourhood.

The stay was really good.
Staff members were friendly. Engin at reception helped us with the city attractions on the map and did turkish translation for a place I wanted to book on the phone. Really helpful.
Overall was a wonderful stay. Just the hotel neighbourhood is not really a nice place.

The hotel is excellent. The breakfast is very good. They have a nice SPA that you can use. Nevertheless, the neighborhood is terrible. I booked this hotel to go to the Congress Center (which is walking distance... but uphill).

Nice hotel but location may be off putting

It literally look us forever to choose a hotel as we was so indecisive and the reviews for the other ones we liked were so mixed, so in the end we opted for Dora as it had the most consistent reviews. We had a wonderful stay. The room was beyond our expectations. It was very spacious for two people and the shower was excellent. As we went in winter whilst it was snowing the hotel turned the air con off at night which was very stressful as it would get very hot and uncomfortable. The only other negative things I can say is that the shuttle service was out of service for the whole time we was there and there are no pavements on the streets which made it very dangerous to walk on as it is a busy road. Also the traffic can be quite loud which you will be able to hear. Also the portions are very small from the restaurant so don't go if you're starving and you want a filling meal (the meat balls are delicious) However the breakfast was so delicious. All in all I would definitely stay here again!

The location of this hotel is very bad it doesn't have any kind of view all you can see from your window is a dump of trash, Taksim is about 10 min walk if you are good with hiking it's not that bad taking in consideration the weather( will be more difficult if it is snowing) hotel says there is a shuttle to take you to the square but they don't mention to you that it only operate from 8-8 and nothing on Sunday, and you have to wait for the driver to take you there, he will be more friendly if you tip him :). Breakfast is ok nothing fancy just cheese and sweets could have been better, and if you want omelette you have to ask for it , it is not for everyone unless you ask.

About 10 minutes walk from taksim square. Clean hotel. Nice employees but not always on top of their duties. They forgot to give me a wakeup call and other little incidents but always try to help and salve any issues. There is also a free hotel taxi to taksim square. Very good hotel. I would always chose this hotel for my stay in istanbul

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! DO NO STAY AT THIS HOTEL!

- dangerous area: Literally, the hotel is located in the middle of slums. The streets surrounding the hotel do not have proper sidewalks. As a result, you need to walk on the streets, which is dangerous. There are lots of hills in Istanbul, which makes your walk to Taksim square tiring. The hotel has a shuttle, which is a small car actually, but it runs only until 8pm. It does not run every day.

- terrible cleaning service: Out of 10 days, they cleaned my room only 3 times. I had to ask them at least 3 times everyday for them to clean my room. I only asked them to make my bed and change the towel. They were able to get it right only 3 days out of 10 days!

- lack of respect: One morning, I was sleeping. It was around 10am. They called me, knock at my door despite the do not disturb sign on and a lady started talking to me through my door. I told her that I was sleeping and, once again, despite the do not disturb sign, she opened the door!

- poor hygiene: the hotel offers a buffet for breakfast. People touch food with their bare hands and put it back on onto the trays. Lots of women wear ample clothes. Their sleeves fall into the food while they help themselves.

- poor breakfast: they do not offer proper breakfast. On many occasions, they did not have eggs, pastries, croissants, yoghurt, etc.

- poor English: most employees do not speak English especially in the breakfast room.

great hotel, so so surroundings

The hotel was quite comfy with all the usual ammenities of a 4/5 star hotel. However, it was located in a run down area of town that is slowly becoming gentrified. To get to taksim square requires a steep uphill climb through 'sidewalks' taken over by cars and stray animals for 10-15 minutes. On the plus side, the hotel has a shuttle service (for tips) that will take you to taksim square. The front desk was very friendly and helpful and the rooms were kept in very good order by the staff. The breakfast buffet was decent with a large and fresh selection. Would stay again, but would probably make more use of the shuttle service/taxi to get arounf.

Friendly and cooperative staff! Enjoyed my stay at the Istanbul Dora Hotel. The major plus was really friendly staff who went out of there way to make my stay pleasant. It was quiet close to taksim and the rooms were comfortable. I would like specially thank Sartac at the reception for taking care of me. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

What a great hotel stayed here for five nights with my wife and teenage sons We could not find any faults with the hotel great comfy rooms very clean , Breakfast open buffet differnt choice every morning .The hotel is in a very upcoming area the hotel offers a free shuttle sevice into taksim square which is great and from there you can go to all the famous tourist spots in istanbul also taking a cab from the hotel to most of the tourist spots is quite cheap.I would reccomend this hotel and would stay here on my return to istanbul, I would also like to thank the guys and girls at the front reception desk for making us feel very welcome romms 1204/1205 kubilay family.

A little off the beaten path but convenient

We really enjoyed our stay at Dora Hotel. The hotel is new and was decorated very modern. The block it is on is a little strange but it is less than a mile away from Taksim Square so an easy walk to get to the metro or a restaurant. The hotel offers a shuttle service to Taksim Square free of charge. Breakfast is Turkish style and halfway through the trip I learned you can order an omelet if you'd like. Housekeeping did a really great job overall but some days the toiletries were not replaced (such as tissues or shower cap) and the first day I got some makeup on the hand towel and the rest of the trip we were not given any hand towels. Neither of those were big issues but a little strange. The staff does not understand a lot of English however this was not a problem for us since we had our trip planned out.

The hotel is new and the rooms are comfortable. The neighborhood is the 'wrong' side of Taksim though not terrible and only a 10 minute walk to Taksim. The service was under-trained. Very nice people but inconsistent English and spotty ability to respond to routine requests. Room cleaning was superficial, bathroom not scrubbed daily, and supplies weren't consistently replenished. Both pairs of complimentary paper slippers disappeared over the course of my stay. One robe disappeared. No bar soap. 2 sachets of coffee and 2 small bottles of water are all that's 'allowed'; any 'extra' was a room service charge which seemed very petty in a hotel aspiring to luxury status. The food in the restaurant was excellent, the comfort of the room was good, and the people were friendly. They need better training and the location isn't brilliant.

The Hotel is great but the location is horrible, on the map it seemed very close to Taksim Square but once there we discovered that the hotel street is at the bottom of the hill and cut away from every means of transportation.
You need a cab to go back and forth every day.

It's very new hotel, clean and comfortable. However hotel staffs are not well trained. It took us long time to check in. The person at the check in desk kept me waiting for long time. They have also problem in giving direction of the hotel over phone. They can't explain the location well. Next to hotel there is nothing but if you walk 15 minutes through an inside hilly lane you can reach to Taksim square and there plenty of restaurants there.

I would go there again!

The hotel staff was very friendly and always awaiting any demands from the customers. I loved the room I had the Junior Suite. Pricing is great and comfort was First Class. I was told that there was a free ride to Taksim when I was being taken to my room and it was true, I needed to go and they pulled up a car at front and it was free of charge! I would recommend this place to a friend. The only downside is, the area seems a bit sketchy. There are car repair shops and a place was under construction next to the hotel and I kind of got scared at night but there are places like that all around the world. A staff member told me that they were the first hotel to take place at that area and that there will be about 30 or more hotels that will begin its construction in that area. So it will become a better neighborhood.

Me and my wife travelled from UK and stayed at the Dora Hotel for 8 nights and very much enjoyed the quality. Bed was very comfy, nice modern interior and fairly quite at night.
Food quality and price were excellent in compare with similar kind of hotel we stayed last year.

Bargain hotel

This was my 2nd stay at this hotel. It's a beautiful hotel with great service, but if you want the fancy location you won't get it. You save more than plenty to take a taxi or just walk 10 mins to Taksim square. Rixos hotel is just 200m away and no doubt 3-4 times the price. I enjoyed this hotel as they are clearly trying to be better to compensate for their location...to me it was just a bargain!

Quality hotel at 1/3 of the price

This hotel was lovely. The staff were super friendly and went the extra mile to be of assistance. The location was not a major issue as it was just a 10 minute walk to Taksim.

Taqsim is near but not possible to walk

Frukosten var exakt likadan varje dag

Hotellet motsvarade enligt vår upplevelse snarare en trestjärnig standard än fyra. Bemötandet i receptionen var inte särskilt välkomnande, vilket drog ner helhetsintrycket. Städpersonalen däremot var mycket professionell och gjorde ett utmärkt jobb under hela vår vistelse.

Vi bodde här i 11 nätter och tyvärr var frukostbuffén exakt samma varje dag. Efter dag 7 valde vi att äta frukost på andra ställen. På ett fyrastjärnigt hotell förväntar man sig viss variation i frukosten, åtminstone varannan dag, vilket tyvärr saknades här.

Sammanfattningsvis var vistelsen okej, men hotellet lever inte riktigt upp till den fyrastjärniga klassificeringen.

Das Hotel war insgesamt in Ordnung, jedoch ist die Ausstattung – insbesondere das Badezimmer – deutlich in die Jahre gekommen und renovierungsbedürftig. Das Frühstück war eher enttäuschend und entsprach nicht den Erwartungen. Die Lage war hingegen ganz gut. Allerdings halte ich die angegebene Sternebewertung für nicht gerechtfertigt.
