Michael’s visit to Märklin.

Just a great little hotel close to everything and the train and/or bus station, Mall restaurants and shopping as well as the Autobahn. They have a fantastic restaurant with a Support Chief - great meals! Great stay for the price and the breakfast is also a very nice selection to choose from.

First nice breakfast wss included with my booking parking charge was very reasonable, rooms for being on a main street and having a railyard across the street was QUITE! That was surprising and great. Welcoming was super, friendly and very informative. ALL Staff were pleasant to tslk too. If only I would have know how reat this hotel is I would have had my new people stay here BUT will in the future. The only thing i would suggest is the pillows, at least in my room need to be replaced. Too soft for me. Restaurant dinner meals some of the best I'd had in a long time. Compliments to the Chef and his staff. For my last week in Germany after 25 years this was a memorable stay and when I come back next year will stay here again. Thank you Michael

We stayed one night on our way back to France to catch our flight home. The room was very spacious for 3 people and very comfortable The hotel was quiet and served an ample breakfast. Parking was tight in the underground garage and would be difficult for a larger vehicle.

For business, this hotel served all my needs. VERY friendly and attentive staff! Fantastic location next to train/bus lines, shopping and eateries. Air conditioning was a little sub-par, but I believe the filter just needed cleaning. Very reasonably priced for the stay and amenities - even the mini bar. On site parking was available (free or charge) which is a big plus!

The hotel is situated near many places to eat and the staff were very nice and helpful. The bed and pillows however were terrible! The bed had a large indentation and the pillows smelled of past guest's sweat and body odor...gross! The internet was also contingent on you inputting your email address for access only to be spammed afterward and was very slow.

Comfortable, convenient and affordable hotel

I went for a business meeting at Mercedes. The hotel is right next to the railroad where hundreds of brand new Mercedes cars leave the manufacturing complex every hour... The location was perfect, as I could get to my meetings in less than 5 minutes. As Sindelfingen is not a large city, walking from the hotel to the cute town center was also a matter of minutes.

The room rate was very competitive with other hotels in the area, and definitely more affordable than any other one in Stuttgart.

The underground garage was spacious and very convenient, connected with the hotel by elevator.

The room was very spacious, the bed firm and very comfortable. I truly enjoyed the excellent and varied buffet for breakfast, and the lounge at the entrance next to the bar in the evenings.

We are a family of four with an 18-year-old son and a 16-year-old daughter and needed an overnight stay at a hotel with enough room for everyone. We rented three rooms at the Erikson and were thrilled with the location, the friendliness of the staff and the size and condition of the rooms. It is a short walk to the old section of Sindelfingen which is full of great restaurants and has a lot of old world character. We were there during the European Cup and there was a ton of activity and energy. The German restaurant we ate at was excellent as well!

Wonderful Accommodation at a Great Location

This is a very nice hotel that is located right next to the Mercedes plant/office. The hotel seems to be recently renovated or it is very well kept. The room is large and clean. Even the hallway and elevator are clean and well-lited.
We were there on a Good Friday and the breakfast was wonderful. The staff took the time to decorate the cafe and the tables with different Easter eggs and rabbits. It was full of Easter spirit.
The location is great as it is within a short walking distance to a large indoor shopping mall that has lot of stores plus a supermarket. It is also 5-10 minutes to many restaurants. We went to an Italian restaurant recommended by the hotel receptionist and it was wonderful.
My stay did not include parking but I was able to find street parking across the street at Euros 2 for the entire day.

Nice hotel within walking distance of the town center. The town center has many dining choices and is very charming.

The hotel is located just across the train station and in a walking distance to quite a few good restaurants.
Other than the fact that the TV set is very old and that there are no English speaking station on TV, the room was very comfortable. One complaint: The Wi-Fi setup was not so good – you have to get a new code each day and it doesn’t remember your password and therefore, each time you log in (during the day) you have to type the password.
The hotel staff were all very helpful and breakfast was excellent by any standard.

Cosy and Comfy Quality Retro Room

My husband and I stayed there for 1 night and very much enjoyed our stay. The bed is nice, medium softness and the room was clean. We had a bath too which we love. The is not big but cosy which we would love to stay longer. We had a late check-out (1:30pm) without extra change :) Good breakfast selection - which I think though should open until 11am. It talk appox. 30min by train to the airport but need to change 2 times. We will certainly recommend this hotel.

First thing I will say this was a business trip and hotel was picked for me. However, that being the case the staff where efficient and helpful. The room was pretty much what I expected, found it odd to be given a double bed yet only a single duvet. Hotel's internet was fast enough. Local shops and restaurants where easy walk from hotel.

Worst hotel I've stayed in

I've stayed in many hotels, and this was easily the worst. I hardly ever write reviews, but I'm writing now in the hope of saving someone else a terrible night. The whole place is out of the 70s, super old and dated. I booked a non-smoking room with a king bed, but upon arrival they only had smoking rooms. It's far from Stuttgart, so on Expedia when it says it's close to Stuttgart it is definitely not. The breakfast was good, and the front desk person was fine -- but I would absolutely never stay there again -- it was so bad that it was laughable. Do yourself a favor and stay anywhere else.

Disappointment in Sindelfingen

Bed worn and sagging ,heating noisey and didn't realty work that well .night staff hopeless got up to go to work at 530 am and waiting 20 minute for someone to show up at desk so I could get token to get car out of rip off 12eu parking under ground when ther is only 5-6 parks outside .wifi stops every time you close iPad constant logging on or no signal at all .noisey rooms from out side doors .good things : day staff very nice friendly and helpfull .breakfasts in the place quite nice and free but would want to be after parking the car .all in all would not stay there again for the money I would expect free parking underground .night manager needs to concentrate on his job and not out side smoking all the time .would not stay again !

The smallest room I've ever stayed in. It was clean and the staff were friendly, but wow,...next time I will book the room as 2 adults with one king bed....and it wasn't like the hotel was even half full either. Lesson learned.

The hotel was clean, updated and efficient, and the staff was friendly, and spoke very good English when required. The hotel is in close proximity to downtown Sindelfingen and is within walking distance to the Stern Center, a good place to shop. If I had a complaint, it would be about the Internet service - it was intermittent and a pain when trying to download photographs and other larger amounts of data on my laptop, and continually dropped the wifi connection from my cell phone. Other than that, I would recommend it as it was affordable, too.

The lobby itself, is as welcoming as the staff at this hotel. Cozy sitting areas, modern, upscale bar, and a friendly, helpful staff greet you as you walk in the door. The metro and city center were very close. The breakfast included not only the usual breads, meats, cheeses, yogurt and cereal, but eggs, bacon, sausage and if you wanted, champagne to make a mimosa. We ate at the restaurant and the food and wait staff was equal to the rest.

Great location ( only steps from the Train) and wonderful breakfast.
Staff was terrific except for one person ( skinny girl who works nights/morning). She seemed to have an attitude and did not want to help me with local questions ( and was reluctant to give me a copy of a Train map until I asked 3 times).
Room was comfortable. The rooms in the back are terrific ( away from the busy Martin Shulyer St.)
Only negative was the loud noise at 24:00- 02:00hr when people in the back parking lot where leaving in their autos( hotel staff?). Very loud and yelling ....woke everybody up.

WALKING DISTANCE TO MERCEDES BENZ PRODUCTION PLANT

The hotel is situated in the city of Sindelfingen where the Mercedes Benz production plant is. By taxi from airport to the hotel costs about 35 Euro. It is also accessible by train from the airport to the hotel. Not recommended if you have heavy luggage. You can take train from the station across the street from the hotel to Boblingen then transfer to downtown Stuttgart. Takes about 40mins and cost 4.7 Euro each way. There is a shopping mall close by where you can find a super market, shops and a food court. Basing on the facilities of the hotel, I would only give it 2 stars. The restaurant closes on Saturday after 8:00pm. Menu is all in German. You have to get ice from the front desk. Service at the Front Desk is great, very courteous and helpful that makes your stay whole lot different. Air conditioning is OK. If you are there to visit MB's production plant, it is the perfect one for you. The MB Museum is in Neckarpark about 45 minutes away by train and cost only 4.7 Euro. The hotel rate is less on the weekend, Friday & Saturday.

Transition from life in the US to life in Germany

Highly recommended! The Hotel Erikson left nothing to be desired for the price. (I paid in dollars what similar places were charging DOUBLE for in euros.) The staff was friendly and helpful, the food was great (especially breakfast--which, for me, was included), and the room was clean and comfortable. You can walk out the front door and hit a shopping mall, wander into Sindelfingen city center, or hop across the street to the train station for quick access to Stuttgart. And, conveniently, there's a great kebap place around the corner, or a nice gas station about 100 meters down the street for water, chocolate, beer, or sandwiches, for a cheap night in. Go for it; you won't be disappointed.

Perfectly Acceptable But Not Even Close To 4*

There is nothing wrong with this hotel. However, it is not a 4* in any sense that an American would understand. The carpet in the room is unimaginably thin, the furnishings basic, the walls bare. It is Motel 6ish without a hint of luxury.. So long as you understand that this is a 2* hotel at best, it was fine. The staff was helpful, the breakfast good, the rooms and facilities clean.

Sleep is important when travelling overseas, to allow the body to adapt to the change in time and to be fresh the next day. That is why I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the beds in this hotel.
The nice things include:
1. Great hotel staff. Very willing to help.
2. Nice beds
3. The breakfast was wonderful
4. The hallway was quiet
5. There was no smoky smell in our non-smoking room. Most Europeans smoke, so this was a nice surprise.

The only things I wish were better was:
1. There was only one PC for customer use.
2. There was not too much fresh air from the A/C, so we had to open a window during the night.

The hotel can easily be reached even via train from Frankfurt airport. There are frequent express trains to Stuttgart and excellent S Bahn connections to Boeblingen, there are also limited S Bahn connections to Sindelfingen and the hotel is right accross the station in Sindelfingen.Over the weekend the Sbahn connection is poor, but it is only a short cab ride from Boeblingen to the hotel

My wife and I spent 7 nights in October at the Erikson Hotel , 2 of which were free! A great price for a 4 star German hotel.Everything was clean and comfortable.
We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was something to really make you get up in the morning!
The hotel was well placed for those who wanted to use public transport which was always totally on time, clean and efficient.It was so easy and cheap to get into beautiful Stuttgart with its many attractions and the journey by bus and train to the Airport is so easy and cheap.

We stayed here because we were visiting relatives in a local hospital. It is in the heart of Sindelfingen. Our only criticism was an appalling slow WiFi service which I tested at 0.19 Mps, the slowest I have ever seen apart from dial up modems. It is also very expensive. Otherwise this hotel is excellent, but as most of it's market would be business travellers, they really need to upgrade their communication.

Great price for all the needed amenities

Stayed here for a business trip. I'm American and don't speak more than a few phrases of German. All the staff spoke adequate to excellent English. Staff was great. Everything I needed was provided for, including free breakfast with the reservation.

There is no fee for breakfast (read somewhere the fee was hidden, this isn't true). They *will* ask you for your room number when you eat breakfast. This is just to verify you're staying there and cross you off as having had your breakfast for the day.

Random asides:

Restaurant was a little pricey, but good food.

Bar was reasonable with half-price happy hour M-F 5:30-7:30pm (great deal here).

Front desk lent me a power adapter for my US plugs. No fee.

First night all irons and ironing boards were in use. Got one the second night. No fee.

Parking is supposedly 10 euros per day. I never actually paid anything for parking. Front desk girl on the first night admitted they have no way to keep track of this.

Internet is 4 euros/1 hour, 6 euros/2 hours, and they also have a 24 hour price (10-15 euros, I forget). I think they should just have free internet. Only real negative about this place.

Nice hotel for a good price!

Nice hotel, good price. and helpful and kind staff. Needs some reparations. The neighborhood is not so nice, but it is very well located, and very close to main exits to highways and entrance to Stuttgart.

hotel is in a great location, near shops, the Stern Centre, market Platz, many restaurants and bars. Room was clean and well maintained. the only downsides of our week long stay were the room overlooked a main street and, with the windows open (we stayed in July and was very warm), there was a lot of street noise, both day and night. Internet service must be paid for but was reasonable. The only TV stations that were in English were BBC and CNN. I needed come copies made and, what is usually a service in most hotels, we were charged .50 Euro for each page. But, if I was to return to Sindelfingen, I would stay again. Booking the room on Expedia saved us several hundred dollars over the posted rate on their site. Parking is extra.

Super Hotel! Jederzeit wieder!

Das Hotel war echt super! Hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Zimmer war groß und geräumig, gemütlich und sauber. Das Bad war sauber und sehr geräumig. Das Essen war gut und der Service war super! Die Tiefgarage ist etwas eng, aber war ok.
