Quinta Nova is a beautiful Quinta in spectacular surroundings. It is very comfortable and the service is impeccable - probably the best welcome of any hotel I have ever stayed at. The restaurant was also excellent - with enough choice for 3 fabulous meals even though the menu didn’t change during our 3 night stay. The walking trail around the vineyards is superb and a real highlight of our stay.

A stunningly beautiful area and property. We had a lovely tour of the museum and winery with a wine tasting immediately after the tasting. We stayed 2 nights and both breakfast and dinner were delicious!

Fabulous location.

Very good hotel in a superb location with excellent staff. Our only complaint is that it was a bit chilly and there was no heat in the bathroom. This is controlled based on the time of year rather than the temperature.

This is a magical and peaceful place high up in the mountains in the Douro Valley. The Quinta is decorated quaintly and the property has multiple seating areas and walking trails in which to enjoy the 360 degree spectacular views of terraced vineyards and the Douro River. The staff are friendly and accommodating, the food and wine is delicious, and oh ... did I mention the views! Treat yourself to splurge in this special place!

Beautiful property! Staff was amazing! Without a car there are limited locations for lunch and dinner off-property. The menus do not change day to day on site. Therefore after a few days we were ready for some new food options. Very peaceful setting and a lovely way to start our Portugal vacation.

Very beautiful and relaxing location. The pool and views were incredible. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines. Overall a wonderful stay.

It is about halfway between peso de régua and pinhão; about a 40 minute drive from each. The train stop is very close though.

Lovely Quinta for a stop in Douro Valley.

Perfect place for a Douro Valley stop. Very quaint, lots of charm, lovely staff, amazing views, nice restaurant with wonderful food. We had a crazy storm come in so we weren’t able to enjoy the pool and outside eating as much as we’d have liked.

The wine tasting tour left much to be desired so I wouldn’t go there just for that.

Spectacular site well worth the cost. The ONLY demerit we found was the unchanging menu every day. Whereas everything on the menu is exquisite, the lack of variety grew tiresome after 3 days of meals.

Staff: 5 stars - Tirelessly working around the clock to provide a great service across the day.

Food & Wine: 5 stars - we spent two nights eating and drinking at Quinta Nova. Although the menu is fairly limiting given its fine dining credentials, the quality and freshness of the food was second to none.

Room: 4 stars - the room was nicely decorated with old period furniture. The only thing that it could have done with was a mini fridge to keep the water cold

Pool & Surroundings: 5 stars - people come to this place for the view. It’s very well kept and absolutely stunning.

In summary Quinta Nova is an exceptional stay. Although it’s quite expensive for the food and wine, it’s well worth it. This place does not have many rooms, meaning the winery is not flooded with guests. This means you can relax on-site without their being too many people. That’s worth a premium if you ask me.

The property and the service are amazing. Probably one of the best in the region. HOWEVER, it's located in the opposite side of the main road, so getting to the hotel is a far and a somewhat difficult drive specially when it's dark.

Because of that it may be a better option to find a similar quinta in the other side of the river.

Words cannot describe the beauty of this place. The views from the rooms are breathtaking. The hotel has such charm, and the staff were superb. The dinner at the restaurant was excellent. My only regret was not staying longer.

Wonderful setting, we especially enjoyed the late afternoon sun by the pool, which is surrounded by vineyards. The view of the river and hills is breathtaking.
Room was luxurious with old world charm, service friendly and the food tasty (although few vegetarian options).
Because it’s quite a drive to get there, make this a destination, spend time at the property . In the morning we walked through the vineyards. They also have wine making tours.
This was a bit of a splurge for us, but certainly worth it.

Recently had a 2 day stay at Quinta Nova. We had a wonderful stay, you can not beat the beautiful location and the views are simply stunning. We arrived to the property via train and we were able to organise transfers to and from the hotel which saved a fairly long walk up the hill. The room was clean and comfortable and had a nice outlook over the terrace and vineyards. The pool area was beautiful and was a nice area to relax. During our stay we did the sunset boat cruise which was awesome, more great views and excellent hospitality. We also had a 3 course dinner which was exceptional and found breakfast to be sufficient. Not a huge choice but all very fresh and tasty. We also found time to do the winery tour and tasting. The guide and staff at the wine shop were excellent and the tour was interesting and informative. We did have a few small room issues during our stay which was the only negative but we would still highly recommend Quinta Nova.

Perfect in every way! My mom and I stayed at Quinta Nova on the final night of our Portugal vacation and were soooo glad we did - our only regret was not staying for 2 nights! Beautiful property with amazing views of the Duoro River and Valley - there were several cozy living rooms throughout the guest house to enjoy while reading, playing cards, or relaxing. Our room was spacious and sparkling clean, and had an enormous bed that was heavenly. Lovely on-site restaurant that is nice for a lunch or dinner splurge (appreciated the vegetarian options available), wine tour and tastings, wonderful free breakfast, and extremely attentive staff. I appreciated the attention to detail such as pick-up and drop-off at the nearby train station, note and chocolates in our room upon arrival, etc. There weren't many hotel guests during our stay, so we really loved the peaceful and relaxing ambiance of Quinta Nova..especially after the hustle and bustle of Lisbon and Porto. I imagine it's probably a bit busier during the summer, when the weather is warmer and the pool is open. Highly recommend!

Everything from the staff, wine, food, grounds, and stunning drive to the hotel was absolutely wonderful. I cannot say enough good about this place. We only wished we could have stayed longer. Over priced, and they nickel and dime you for every extra. You are captive to a very expensive menu, and overpriced wines - you even have to pay if you want to taste their wines after a tour! They upsell everything, except for two low quality pillow chocolates which were sarcastically pointed out to us as a gift.

Fantastic hotel and winery. Suite 6 was spacious and well-designed with a huge, comfortable king sized bed. Grounds are lovely with lots of individual spots to relax and enjoy the view. Staff were friendly and accommodating. On site restaurant was delicious, if pricey.

Luxury wine house in isolation.

After a slow and steady drive from Vilareal we entered the traditional cobblestone road and wine barrels lining the entry. The house itself is a place of serenity and beautiful lounges to escape to inside and numerous outdoor settings whereby you take superb views in of the hills, valleys and river. A great tour of the winery and tastings along with walks of the vineyards from 1 to 6 Kms
Showcase the hotel. Finally the restaurant which delivers quality food and wines does not disappoint.

Peace, Charm & Beauty in Douro Valley

Amazing stay at a quite wine estate in Douro valley. Perfect for a couple days to wind down and enjoy the amazing terraced hills of the Douro plus the walking trail throughout the property was a nice plus. Buffet breakfast was one of the best I have had in Portgal with fresh croissants and fresh squeezed orange juice.

Beautiful setting, amaxing scenery but...

This place was beautiful, with breathtaking scenery and walks. A challenging drive up. The wine was great, but tasting (paid) felt rushed, with a brief description and overall service could have been more attentive. Overall the place lacked a bit of atmosphere. No music in common areas, in bar, breakfast etc and despite bar being open no staff there either unless requested. The shower went hot and cold, and air con noisy. Definitely appreciate that it's a vintage building, but a few things made it not quite live up to expectations.

Beautiful hillside quinta

Quinta Nova was a beautiful, yet quaint hotel in the Douro Valley. Everything from the grounds, to the rooms, to the service, was wonderful. The only thing to be aware of is the drive in- the roads a a bit tumultuous, and would be beast not to drive at night. However, the hotel does a pre fixed meal for dinner with wine pairings that is to die for.

A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE

Ever smiling, courteous and helpful staff must make the owners very proud. Jose' \"THE CHEF\", Sussane and their colleagues made our short stay very comfortable and memorable.

We looked forward to \"THE SURPRISE\" items on menu at dinner time. Of course, the wine was superb and service just amazing.

We wish everyone at Quinta Nova A FANTASTIC 2015 ... We hope to come back again ..
