SERVICE RATINGS

Shower fan and shower door rubber was loose.Shower door was not closing easily from day 1.
Complained,told that technian will come the next day.
When I enquired again,I was told that it was done.
I reported that this was not done properly as door had to be forced closed and fan was still not working.
All the tech did was put back the rubber.
This remained as above until we departed and never resolved.
There are no hot breakfast meals served daily,so if you are expecting any fried eggs for breakfast,this will not happen.
I called Elver at Reception from Takseem and asked him to help me with which bus I should take to get back to the hotel.
He said I should request this from the people in Takseem to get back to the hotel.
I was stunned!!!
This was the final straw for me.
I was glad to leave and I will certainly not return to this hotel.

Week in Istanbul at Black Tulip

The hotel is clean and in the center of action being close to the harbour as well as the Blue mosque and Topicapi museum. Staff are very friendly. I was disappointed with the size of room where you can't even have you luggage properly stored without having to jump over furniture. Very loud noise at night with street cars passing every few minutes and balcony door does not close tight to eliminate noise. You can't have AC set to a temperature while out of hotel to come back to comfort as electricity is out as soon as you leave room. Bathroom is also very tight but clean. Elevator can only fit 2 people at a time. Although it was OK but for the price I paid I'd rather stay at a brand name hotel for the same price next time. Restaurants and shops around this hotel were pricey but if you go to Yousuf Pasha or Taksim you'd get better value for your money.
Airport Shuttle and arranged tour trips from hotel are way over priced in comparison to outside tour offices.
But like I said all staff are friendly and the place is clean.

The hotel location was perfect, right by the train and tram stations, lots of shops and the main attractions within walking distance (under 10 mins). The staff were friendly and helpful although we had a few issues with the rooms.. the air con leaked constantly despite us asking for it to be fixed several times..

Internet hard to connect and once connected it switched off every 5 minutes,

Clean hotel, good breakfast .

Hard to get picked up by taxis as it is a street mainly for trams. Had 2 Ubers cancel on me until I moved two streets away. Nearly missed my plane as it took 30 minutes to work out what the problem was with pick ups

Excellent Hotel for the price and great location. Hotel is walking distance from most major attraction such as Blue Mosque, Topkapi Place and Sofia Place. There is a Tram station within 2 mintutes walk which can be used to go Grand Bazaar or Galata Tower, The only thing which lets the hotel down is breakfast which is more or less same everyday.

Close to all....

Nice and neat hotel practically in the heart of the city. The rooms were a little smaller than the usual but very clean. The staff were friendly. Breakfast was quite good. Due to a tramway line being right in front of the hotel meant every two minutes you had up with the noise, but this was the only downside to this hotel. I would recommend this hotel for short stays and sightseeing.

Convenient hotel, helpful staff, tight room

I stayed three nights in a single room. The hotel is conveniently located in the old center of Istanbul near the main tourist sights, restaurants and public transport. The room was modern, clean and relatively quiet, but it was small and porrly layed out - you had to climb over the bed to get to the desk. The television was working but was not programmed to allow viewing of any channels. I asked the staff to correct the issue, but nothing was done.

Good service from staff. Provided information on tours to Topkapi palace, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, Bosphorus cruise. Good overall hotel located next to Topkapi palace and on the tram line. Gulhane stop is just down the street from the hotel. Only issue would be that the walls are thin and you can hear the neighbouring suite.

Well located hotel

This hotel was walking distance to everything we wanted to see in the old European part of the city. The staff were very helpful and considerate of our needs. The room was so small there wasn't room for our one large suitcase without blocking our ability to walk around the bed. The bed was very comfortable and other than being cramped our stay was very satisfactory other than the inflexibility of our booking which was made through Expedia and non refundable so we lost a night's charge when our plans changed.

Great hotel in a great location.

I can't recommend this place enough. It's right in the old town of Fatih next to beautiful Gulane park where you can sit and have tea overlooking the city. The staff are amazingly friendly and so warm towards our young child. The room was lovely, overlooking the street with the trams which wasn't an issue. The breakfast incredible with such a huge selection. This is the best value hotel I've stayed in.

My second time here. \"Hats off\" to the staff!!

As the title says, the staff who are very polite.

One of the guys was especially helpful going to great lengths to organize a bus from Istanbul to Greece.
Now all I have to do is find a way out of this bankrupt paradise ;)

I visited Turkey as part of retracing the footsteps of family members who served during WWI, two at Gallipoli who were both wounded there, patched up and sent to the Western Front (where my journey continues). Staying at the Black Tulip also gave me access to the ancient part of Istanbul as well as some traditional Turkish dining experiences.

The staff were friendly and very helpful, with their English skills being far superior to my Turkish (no no-existent). The room may have been a bit small but it was immaculate and kept that way.

Happy to recommend this hotel for anyone looking to visit Istanbul.

Why this hotel is near to perfect.

I feel like all I will do is echo what people have already said but the Black Tulip is a wonderful budget hotel. The service and hospitality offered by the staff was second to none, the breakfast buffet was superb and the location, well, you couldn't be more perfectly placed to see Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, the Topkapi Palace and you are only a short walk from the Grand Bazaar. Yes, the rooms a little small, but perfectly fitted, and why would you want to spend to much time in your room anyway? You're in Istanbul! The beds are a little short, I am 6ft and I my feet would just poke over the end of the bed (but I don't sleep like a plank of wood, so that wasn't an issue for me). In summary, if you're thinking about staying here, then do. Just book now.

One of the few hotels that I've really felt was value for money,
Nice staff, nice room (106) Great breakfast (Yum yum!) , good wifi & spot on location with the tram just a few steps from the front door!

Cons:

Walls are a bit thin, noise wise but it wasn't a noisy hotel
Room was too warm for me, but I noticed if you keep the bathroom door shut it helps. Also open the window of course.

The hotel is situated in one of the most vivid areas of Istanbul and, yet, it is very quiet. The staff is very helpful and the breakfast delicious and rich. The only negative point was the dimension if the room 304: other than the bed, there was barely space at all!

the staff at the hotel is outstanding
they know the city and provide great advice on getting around it
the breakfast offered by the hotel is delicious and it allows you to either try a turkish type of breakfast or your more occidental type meal.
The room size is more than adequate and the bathrooms are large, clean and have inmediate hot water for your showers.
at 100 dollars the night our room was an excellent decision

I stayed here while on holiday and can happily say this is a terrific small hotel, very helpful and friendly staff and in a great location . Rooms are small but adequate ( and I didn't spend much time in room anyway because I was out seeing the wonderful parts of old Istanbul ) very clean, with fridge , wifi,breakfast downstairs . The staff spoke good English and were an example of how to operate well, a fine hotel. I was on the 4 the floor away from the lift and could not have been more comfortable.

Overnight layover before the flight

I checked in for a single night because in my flights being 22 hours apart . The hotel is 200 meters from Ayasofya and 50 meters away from a tram station which leads to the airport . A lot of great cafes and shops as it is situated on the central street of old city . The room was small , but well decorated and had all amenities that were expected . Air conditioning worked perfectly . The only problem is that many English channels are blocked by Turkish government . Check in took 3 minutes , check out took 1 minute . Doors between the rooms are thin and you can hear the hallway . Overall 4.5 and would highly recommend for a layover .

When We arrive to hotel, Hotel staff told that we do not have booking and all room in Hotel is sold out. Hotels.com told us that our booking is conform, we book total 4 room but they give us only two room. After long conversation, they give us one more room in different hotel for one night which was much lower rated. We paid for 4 room and got only three room. Not happy at all. We will never go back.

They had emailed me a few days prior to my arrival informing me of the option of them picking my up/ going to the airport, and gave me directions to their hotel if I came on my own. I responded that I would come on my own and I would not be there until after midnight. They were graciously awaiting my arrival, and offered me tea before showing me to my room. The room was LOVELY. Comfortable bed, and overall cozy. As I was on a long layover I had to leave my luggage with them the next day after checkout while I walked the 10 minutes to all the main sights. Overall i would recommend this hotel to anyone, whether they stay a day or a week.

The location of this hotel was perfect, as it is near many of the sights tourists want to see in the old city, and the tram stop is right around the corner if you get tired of walking. Plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. The staff was incredibly helpful and went out of their way to ensure that we got everything we needed. Rooms were clean and nice, if a bit on the small side, but adequate for our needs. The only thing I found to be not so great is that the beds were not very comfortable. However, for the price and the location, overall it was excellent.

Værelserne er små men rigtige fine. Vi var der på en kort tur, så det passede os helt fint. Receptionen er venlige og behjælpelige. Hotellet ligger også et perfekt placering ift turistattraktioner og shopping i området. Hotellet er tæt på offentlig transport. Taxi er nødt til at holde en meget kort tur væk pga tram. Men alt i alt kan hotellet varmt anbefales!

Das Hotel ist absolut empfehlenswert. Es ist sehr zentral und man wird direkt freundlich und herzlich aufgenommen. Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr aufmerksam, gastfreundlich, gehen auf Fragen offen ein und sind hilfsbereit. Auch das offensichtliche Teamwork mit allen Kollegen des Hotels (sowohl Rezeption als auch Zimmerreinigung und Frühstücksservice) widerspiegelt dass was für das Hotel am wichtigsten ist und der Gast fühlt sich fast wie Zuhause. Vielen Dank auch nochmals an das Hotelpersonal, Fouad Bey, Ehver Bey und Veysel Bey, für die kleine aber sehr wertschätzende Aufmerksamkeit die es zu meinem Geburtstag als auch am letzen Tag unserer Reise gab. Die Zimmer waren sauber, es gab extra Shampoo, Duschgel und Conditioner. Im Hotel gibt einen kleinen süßen Aufzug. Die Zimmer sind mit einem Flatscreen ausgestattet und haben sowohl türkische als auch russische Kanäle. Die Schilder für die Zimmer sind elektronisch über dem Rahmen sichtbar und man muss kein Schild aufhängen. Es gibt eine begehbare Dusche und einen Wasserkocher für warme Getränke. Das Frühstück war sehr üppig und bat viel Auswahl. Direkt am Hoteleingang gibt es eine Wechselstube und 2 Geldautomaten. Um das Hotel gibt es viele Restaurants, Cafes und kleine Geschäfte besuchen die nicht teuer und qualitativ gut sind. Das Black Tulip bietet die Kontaktaufnahme durch WhatsApp an was alles sehr viel einfacher macht. Ich würde das Hotel weiterempfehlen.

Die Unterkunft hat seinen Zweck in meinen Augen erfüllt. Nämlich das man paar Nächte zum schlafen hat. Plus Punkte war eigentlich nur, das im Zimmer eine Klima vorhanden war. Ansonsten war schade, das die Zimmer so gerichtet waren, das eine Privatsphäre ein Fremdwort für die Unterkunft geworden ist. Das Bett war unübertrieben weniger als ein Schritt zur Eingangstür des Zimmers entfernt.

Das Hotel wirkt von außen sehr klein und unscheinbar, aber innen ist alles sehr liebevoll und sauber eingerichtet.
Unser Zimmer 402 war sehr groß, sauber und mit einem kleinen Balkon. Da die Straßenbahn Station direkt 10 meter neben dem Hotel liegt kann es ab und zu etwas lauter werden aber mit geschlossenem Fenster hört man davon nichts.
Dafür ist die Lage einfach nur Top. Zu fuß erreicht man jeden Menge Geschäfte für Souvenirs, Lebensmittel oder Getränke. Sehr viele Restaurants was auch super ist.
Straßenbahn direkt vor der Tür und in ca 10 minuten Fußweg erreicht man auch den Hafen von wo aus man überall kommt.
Ich würde das Hotel jedem empfehlen der viel von Istanbul in kurzer Zeit sehen möchte 👍

Der er ikke tilsyn med tilstanden i værelserne. Brusekabine (glasdør) sprang, vi kom til skade, personale så ikke alvorligheden, selvom der kom ambulance og vi fik behandling på sygehus, vores ferie blev ødelagt. Hotel bestyrelse ignorerede nærmest ulykken, tog ikke ansvar. efter sigende skulle deres forsikring se på sagen, men der er ikke sket noget endnu efter mere end 2 uger!!
Derudover er der MEGET larm fra gaden, da letbanen kører forbi hver 5. minut 24/7.

Nie wieder!

Obwohl wir mehr als 5 Wochen im voraus zwei Einzelbetten gebucht hatten, fanden wir uns in einem französischen Bett ( Zi.102) wieder. Angeglich wurde dieser Wunsch nicht vom Buchungsportal weitergeleitet. Außerdem befindet sich dieses Zimmer in einer „ Toplage „ zur vor dem Haus vorbeifahrenden Straßenbahn.
Die arrogante Art eines Mitarbeiters beim Checkin ließ sich kaum überbieten.

Habíamos pagado por una habitación estandar y nos dieron una económica que era muy pequeña . No pudieron cambiarnos de habitación porque no había más pero tampoco nos reconocieron la diferencia pagada

Der Aufenthalt war sehr gut.
Wir wurden freundlich empfangen und fühlten uns wohl.
Das Zimmer war klein aber dennoch ausreichend für zwei Personen. Betten und Badezimmer waren sauber.
Die Lage war sehr gut so dass wir mit der Straßenbahn ab Gülhane eine sehr gute Verbindung hatten.
Zu Fuß war das Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel Marmaray in ca. fünf minuten erreichbar mit der wir in viele Stadtteile fahren konnten. Wir würden das Hotel immer wieder gerne buchen.

Αρκετά καλό ξενοδοχείο αν και με λίγο μικρά δωμάτια κ λίγο κακή ηχομόνωση! Σε γενικές γραμμές είναι πάρα πολύ καλό και σε εξαιρετική τοποθεσία. Ευγενικό προσωπικό αρκετά εξυπηρετικοί και πρόθυμοι να βοηθήσουν.

Amazing service!

We had an amazing stay! Great staff and great service. Clean rooms, nice breakfast! We had booked a room with windows towards the street so we couldn’t sleep because of the street noises all night. They changed us to another room free of charge! These guys were amazing! Great hotel in every way but make sure to get a room that’s not facing the streets.

Alle Mitarbeiter waren sehr Bemüht, den Gästen den Aufenthalt so Angenehm wie möglich zu machen. Es wurde jeden Tag im Zimmer geputzt und alles war alles sauber. Kleiner Kritik. Unser Zimmer war wirklich sehr klein und das Frühstück, naja nicht das beste Frühstück. Als Gesamt Note eine Befriedigung.

Très bon hôtel

Hôtel très bien situé proche des monuments historiques et à deux pas de l'arrêt de tram qui dessert toute la ville. Quelques petites imperfections dans la chambre. Personnel très aimable, accueillant et professionnel. Ils sont constamment à vos petits soins. Petit dejeuner frais et varié.
Très bonne hygiène et propreté de la chambre. Je recommande cet hôtel sans hésiter pour tous ceux qui veulent passer un bon séjour à Istanbul au coeur des monuments.

Eher für Mittelklassetourismus vom arab. Golf

Mittelklasse, aber eher für Reisende vom arabischen Golf. Sowas will man nicht auf Reisen: Der Rezeptionist will uns wegen Überbuchung für die erste von zwei Nächten in ein anderes Hotel verlegen, was wir zu seinem Unmut ablehnen. Vorher haben wir im Internet gecheckt: Das Ersatzhotel kostet nur die Hälfte vom bezahlten Zimmerpreis im Black Tulip. Wir erklären, Priorität hat für uns, beide Nächte ohne Umzug im selben Zimmer zu verbringen. Anruf bei hotels.com, die nach einer Alternative suchten. Plötzlich will der Rezeptionist ein Zimmer für zwei Nächte identifiziert haben. Gegen ein schlechtes Bauchgefühl lassen wir uns darauf ein. Eine Stunde und 15 Minuten Handyroaming hat uns der Check-in gekostet. Am
zweiten Tag nach dem Sightseeing die Überraschung: Wir öffnen das Zimmer, unsere Sachen sind weg, dafür liegen Geld und Habseligkeiten anderer Leute rum. Man habe uns in ein anderes Zimmer „verlegt“, erklärt die Rezeption. Unsere Pässe und Wertsachen wurden aber im Safe im ersten Zimmer gelassen (oh Schreck!), nur einige Kosmetikartikel scheinen auf dem Weg ins neue Zimmer, nun ja, neue Nutzer gefunden zu haben. Ein solcher Eingriff in die Privatsphäre ist für westliche Reisende schwer zu akzeptieren. Daher raten wir, ein anderes Hotel zu wählen.
