Very convenient to Avenida da República and walkable to the main bridge attractions.
Nice snack and beverage selection available for purchase as there isn’t much around the hotel. Room itself was noisy, even with window closed and A/C on. Beds were hard as rocks. Saw bugs in the bathroom. Hand soap and shampoo/body soap provided. Paper cups and tea. No coffee or glasses or mugs. Expected more for what was paid.

Overall the property was really great. The metro is a 2 min walk away. There is a shopping center next door, we grabbed groceries and other ammenties. But its not overrunned by tourists. The place is generally clean, so it was odd there had been black mold in the shower around the caulking. But upon further inspections of the rest of the washroom and the room was clean. We had been there 2 days so it didnt really bug us. We told the front desk at checkout, they apologized and were prompt to look in to it. The staff were nice and helpful. And the breakfast buffet had a decent variety of food. I would give these guys another chance.

There were odd shortcomings in the room: no towel racks, no refrigerator, and (contrary to the photo) the bed was too big for the room, making walking past it a one-way street at the base of the bed. The TV was in an odd off-center location, perhaps because a person walking at the base of the bed would hit their head on it otherwise. The elevators are small and antiquated; it's easy not to notice that the elevator has arrived because there is just a little light -- one has to open the elevator door manually.
One bright spot: the breakfast was excellent. And the hotel is on the tram line, for those who like to use public transit. Indeed, access to some type of transit is necessary because the hotel is not walking distance from anything of tourist interest in Porto or Vila Nova da Gaia.

This is a very good small hotel, room is reasonable sized, elevator is tiny, which fits its name clip. staff are very friendly and speaks English, eager to help. feel welcome when staying.

walking distance to railway station, Vila Nova de Gaia, also waling distance to wine cellars, tram at the door to go to historical district, El Corte Ingles, a modern shopping department store is next door, inexpensive city transportation, Euro 1.20 per trip.

Good location. Walked out; caught the train to Porto station; (only 2 stops) or a 15 min walk gets you to the other side of river (Porto). Lots of small cafes within a couple of minutes walking.
Elevator is fun....it is sooo small, 4 people (no luggage) fit into one of two elevators. Having coffee, water, apples available all day was a nice touch. Staff were always pleasant and very helpful.

Average pricedhotel, what you pay for is what you get. No frills, with a good breakfast thrown in.
Wifi good. Tricky to find, look for the large “Paperclip” on the gable end. The hotel underground parking is just 100 yards away.

The hotel is modern and clean. The room was a good size with a comfortable bed and nice shower. There is a bar and a nice seating area to relax in.
It is about a 25 min walk down a large main road to the river and the main tourist area but there is a metro stop pretty much right outside the hotel, and also a sightseeing bus stop close by.

The hotel is undergoing renovation so I can’t comment on facilities such as the bar because nothing really existed as the builders were at work. The staff were polite and friendly. My big gripe was the poor layout of my room. My reasons for this statement are as follows: the safe in the wardrobe had not been secured to the wall and anyone wanting to steal my valuable could have just walked off with it under his arm.
Everything in the room, especially the beds are in the wrong place. They are so close to the wardrobe that it is impossible to fully open the doors. This also meant I had to kneel on the floor to access the safe. The beds should be in the middle of the room. This could be achieved by removing one of the bedside tables. The TV is not in the middle of the room and central to the bes, but right over to one side. This could be remedied by once again moving the beds into the centre of the room. There are no draws to store clothing in and because getting into the wardrobe is so difficult it meant I had no choice but to leave clothing in my suitcase. The lighting in the bathroom is poor and I had to use the mirror in the bedroom to make sure that I had achieved a perfect shave.
That said: the beds are comfortable; the shower is strong and I was really pleased with the selection of TV channels, many of which were British or American with Portuguese subtitles. The quality of the signal of the TV signal could be better, but that’s a small point. Breakfast is adequate.

The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. We were allocated our room well before the official book in time. The reception had extra touches such as free water and fruit etc. The room was clean, comfortable and adequate and wifi was good. The breakfast was good value for money.The location was not so central but it was very close to the Metro system which runs frequently. It was also very close to an excellent bbq type eatery, that was excellent value for wonderful tasty food..at only 15 euros for 2 of us! It was also next to the largest department store in Portugal. The tourist buses also had a stop very close by. The hotel was on a main road and so views not good.

Basic budget hotel. A happy stay

If you're looking for a no-frills hotel then Clip Hotel is good. Metro station is literally outside the hotel so its easy to get to the major sites and to the airport, there is a massive shopping centre next door if you are interested in branded shops, the staff are friendly and when our key would not open our door, the staff went to sort it out very quickly. There is no kettle or fridge in the rooms but the hotel offers free water, tea, coffee and fruit in the lobby. The room, shower, beds were basic but comfortable. Good budget stay.

A nice hotel close to a metro stop

We got a good deal so were dubious about staying at the Clip Hotel but there was nothing to worry about and we would recommend this hotel.It is in an accessible location with a metro stop a few minutes walk down the road. We travelled from the airport using the metro. It was an easy journey of about 40 mins with one change of metro line. We bought Adante Tour 3 cards, at the airport, that cost 15Euros each and enabled us to use the metro for 3 days. Our triple room was great, clean and very spacious. The continental breakfast was good,consisting of various fruit, rolls/breads, cheese, ham , cereals, juices.All the staff we met were friendly, helpful and professional. The hotel is about 3 stops from the Jardim du Morro where you can pay for a cable car ride down to the riverside and it's craft stalls, restuarants and port wine cellars. Stay on the metro to the next stop of Sao Bento to access Porto town centre and lots of restaurants.There is a large department store, with a supermarket in the basement, on the nex block to the hotel.

Very easy to find, very close to metro system . The rooms are small but good, very clean, good shower, loads of TV channels in English. Although on a busy road there is very little traffic noise. The reception staff are really friendly and helpful and the breakfast is excellent for the price. All round excellent value.

Hotel staff not friendly on checking in. No tips or help in getting around. Only answers questions when ask. Free tea and apple in reception. Hotel 2 minutes walk to metro and big shopping mall where you can do food shopping. Open until 11 pm but food in the restaurant not a fan. Wear comfy shoes in getting around as it's hilly with cobblestones flooring. Do visit cafe majestic for afternoon tea, pastry or meal. Lovely ambiance with piano playing and service is excellent. Francesinha (native food) best in Capa Negra. Cable car for wine tasting in Gaia, seafood menu lovely and cheap. For a 'Harry potter feel' check livraria Lello, there's an entrance fee but it will be deducted when you buy books. If you have more time try visiting Sintra but allocate at least 3 days to explore the place. Overall, an enjoyable stay indeed.

It seams every time I book in to the clip hotel there is noise from workers with hammers first thing in the morning. I come to Portugal as it is my home but live in Scotland now. So like to come home every few months to visit family. I don't expect to be woken up early every morning especially when I'm on holiday.

You can get a metro ticket for three days for 15 euros per person, which gets you to your hotel from airport and then into the centre and they can also be used on the buses. This was great for a Friday to Monday break.

Staff there were all very helpful and accommodating. Really liked how they had free fruits for guests to take at the entrance area. Rooms were spacious and clean. Location was great with a few metro stops away from the city centre yet also near all the wineries ( we went to Taylor's). Only downside is that the walls are quite thin so I could hear background noise outside my room. Toilet was also much smaller in comparison to the room but for the price I think overall was good! Would come back if I came to Porto again!

You have a shopping center right next to it and it takes you about a 15 - 20 min. walk to get to the famous bridge. The breakfast buffet was great (a lot of choices). The only thing that was a bid negative, the elevator is really small. Other than that I would come again.

The staff at the hotel were very helpful and the location was really good especially for shopping with a major department store next door. The hotel is an old hotel that has been modernised. The only negative thing is that the breakfast is pretty basic but didn't really expect much to start with. Has a really good restaurant down the road and parking was pretty easy.
Me and my family would stay again.

Nice hotel, near public transport.

The staff are friendly and helpful. Handed out maps, advised best places to visit. etc. We asked about getting there and they were quick to respond.
To get there you can take a taxi or use the metro. We were told taxi could be around 30 euros. We didn't use the taxi from the airport, but all taxi's are metered - there maybe additional charge for suitcases.
We used the metro, about 9 for 3 of us airport to hotel. easy to use, metro staff are on hand to help you negotiate buying tickets on the machine and directing you to the right platforms. Take Airport to Trindade, change there to go onto Joao De Deus.
From hotel take metro to Sao Bento - you can get connections to most places from there.
BTW ask anyone for directions they will tell you the right directions but everything is only 10 or 15 minutes away which could be half an hour.
The hotel is actually on the Gaia side.
You can walk from the hotel across the bridge to Porto. About half an hour :-)
Or from the Gaia side take the cable car down to the river front.
Most of the nicer and more expensive places are on the Porto side of the river.
Most of the tourists spots are also on the Porto side.

Nice hotel with all the basics

Room: Nice sized, clean room with balcony. The bathroom was a bit small.
Location: Clip Hotel has a Metro stop in front of it, a 15 minute walk to the city centre across the bridge, and about 45 minutes from the airport by subway with one change. Huge mall nearby. The neighborhood is much more residential.

Conveniently located close to a train stop. The place is very neatly organized and clean. It's basic but comfortable. If you spend a lot of time outside touring or need a place to rest then this is the best place for you. If you like to walk, Clip Hotel is a good place to start onward to cross the Ponte Luis Bridge or towards the Port Wine Cellars.

Excellent buffet breakfast provided with a selection of breads , pastries , meats ,cheeses, juices etc.

My husband and I stayed at the hotel for 4 nights and we enjoyed our stay at the hotel. It was a decent, clean hotel. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful and could speak English. The room was clean and comfortable (although it did remind me of a uni flat with the laminates and the basic room). The hotel is a min walk to the metro and is right next to an amazing shopping centre.
The only downside was breakfast, it was bare basic and if you don't get there early it's gone. In addition to that I did have one of the staff at breakfast make me feel uncomfortable as she kept giving me dirty looks (I believe it's because I wear a scarf)

Considering the price of the hotel it was excellent value. 3 mins walk from the ultra efficient metro system & very good wi fi in room. Had 3 beds in our room so although there was not a great deal of room at the end of the beds the extra bed meant there was room to put your things. Bathroom was small but had been recently modernised. Staff were helpful. Breakfast was 4.5 euros,an excellent cold buffet including pressing your own orange juice.Would recommend.

Great Hotel for Porto Visit

First things first - the location is perfect as it's only about 50m from the metro station, taking only 10 mins to Porto centre (and costing about €1.40 The metro runs until about 1am during the week, and 24 hours at the weekend, is clean and on time. The hotel is nothing fancy in itself, but is clean, has a nice area in the lobby with free water and juice and pears to take (saves having to go to the supermarket each day to buy water). Beds are good and firm, and pillows are good size and quality too. Bathroom is small, but not cramped. Breakfast is plentiful, squeeze your own orange juice, local pastries were also fresh and tasty, great coffee from the machine, fruit (sometimes tinned, sometimes fresh), cereals and yoghurts, basically everything you could wish for from a continental breakfast. The only reason it's not getting 5 stars is that it could do with some shelving in the bathroom and bedroom. It's not a major issue, but we were there for a week and I couldn't separate out all my clothes in the cupboard. Would definitely recommend staying at this hotel, and would be happy to go back to it.

Great Location

Free wifi in the lobby. Located next to El Corte Ingles (high end shopping store). Clip hotel offers special priced delicious meals for their guest at El Corte Ingles. The hotel is a few steps from the metro which runs directly into the city historic center.

Good value for money

We booked a 2 beed non smoking room. When we checked in there were only double bed room or 2
Bed smoking room. Second night they change our room and we got complimentary breakfast first night.

Anyway both nights the room was very clean and comfortable. Will stay there again if I go back. Staff was very helpful and friendly.

If you plan to stay a couple of nights or more at Porto I will definitely recommend this hotel.

Great location easy access , very quiet great rooms, 10 minutes from downtown , very helpful and courteous service , good breakfast , easy parking space around the hotel . A shoping mall next to it and gas station in front with basic things supermarket 2 blocks away , Tea, water and fruit as amenity at the lobby area . 2 great employees I interact with always extremely helpful !, Paula Silva and Sandra Abreu congratulations to both of them . Excellent stay experience

We chose the ClipHotel because of its proximity to the centre of Porto. It was a 20 minute walk, close enough to be a bit long, but still enjoyable. The hotel is right next to the streetcar if you want to use that. The room was clean, comfortable and the breakfast was great. My only reservation is that the rooms are not so soundproof between rooms. However, the other guests were quite mature and went to sleep at a decent hour. The staff were probably the nicest people we have ever encountered at a hotel stay. They are extremely patient and kind and treat everyone with respect.

We had a four day break in Porto and this hotel was excellent. The staff was really accomodating and the breakfast was good. It is situated right next to a metro station for convenience, just 4 stops to town, and not noisy at night I would definitely use ghis hotel again.

We've spent 5 nights at ClipHotel in March 2014. The room were not just clean - they were spotless! Friendly service with a smile, warm greets to lady at the check-in counter, who was very helpful throughout our stay, with lots of information about sights, restaurants, transport.

Very comfortable and long beds, made up every day.

Big and tasty breakfast. Delicious and strong coffee.

Well located, 6 minutes on Metro from famous Dom Luis Bridge. Metro station - João de Deus - almost next to the hotel.

Will use this hotel next time when in Porto, guaranteed!

Nice, clean well located hotel

Very pleasant stay. The hotel is well located. 150 m from the metro stop, 100m from el \"Corte Ingles\" large shopping mall. The room was clean, bed comfortable and bathroom clean. We recommend this hotel.
Breakfast was nice (fresh bread, cereals, fruits, juice) which was plenty enough for us.
People at the reception were friendly and helpful.

nice, stylish hotel

totaly normal location, approx.15 min by feet from the city center, or you can use a public transport. Very helpfull staff, with excellent English. Standart breakfast, you will not be hungry.
