We were in Lisbon on our honeymoon and decided to do a day trip to Porto for a wine tour and booked a room here last minute. The place is stunning! Parking was a bit away and required quite the workout to haul our bags down the cobblestone roads but we loved it. From the outside you can barely tell a hotel is there and when you enter it’s spacious and bright and we had a beautiful view of Porto from our room. The staff was also very nice!

Lovely boutique hotel. Friendly staff. Not quite a 4 star, though. Room has some wear, some mild in the shower. No tissue box. No artwork on the walls. Tried breakfast buffet and the eggs were cold. Can be very loud music some evenings on the weekend as there is a restaurant complexe behind the hotel. They can stop music at 22 h 30 or so. Can be quite frustrating if you want to turn in early. I did like the location quite a bit. Easy to go to Porto on foot. Train close by (up the hill) to go to the beaches at Espinho, Granja, Aguda. All in all a good experience.

This hotel was once an old police station and they did an amazing job of upgrading it while keeping the old charm. Room was spacious, staff pleasant and helpful, outdoor courtyard, and breakfast option on site. Easy walk to the river with lots of eating options. Located in the Gaia side so not as central but transit nearby.

Easily accessible from the port houses in Villa de Gaia, this beautiful small hotel provides a calm and quiet escape from the tourists. A lovely courtyard and self serve bar are a great addition. There is a restaurant on property but I didn’t use it. Staff are very welcoming and helpful; they will hold onto your luggage.

The Caleway Hotel is a beautiful gem that we will be recommending to anyone who is visiting Porto or Gaia in the future. The building is a former jail that has been beautifully renovated to include every desirable modern comfort while still presenting some of the original stonework and tiling. Our room was quiet, comfortable, and cleaned every day, and the staff went out of their way to make us feel at home. The included buffet breakfast was fresh and had options for every kind of eater.
The location can also not be beat. Our room overlooked the Luis I Bridge and the rest of Porto. Only 3 minutes of walking from the front door got us to the main riverwalk of Gaia, with its innumerous restaurants and Port Caves; ten more minutes took us across the bridge and into downtown Porto. When we needed at rest from the sun and excitement, the garden and honesty bar at Caleway provided a relaxing and comfortable respite. We were sad to leave at the end of our 3 nights there.

Wonderful hotel!

A beautiful hotel in a quiet lane in the fantastic Vila Nova de Gaia area of Porto. The hotel is fairly new so everywhere in excellent condition. We had a beautiful suite with incredible view over Porto. Brilliant and helpful service at reception too - we will be back! Only small negative was that there was a loud house music event in at the WOW museum one night from 3-11pm which made relaxing in hotel difficult but think those events are rare so advise to check what’s on at WOW before your stay!

What a wonderful blend of old and new. Part of the hotel is older. I stayed in the newer part and my room was terrific. I did not see an older room but the main areas were all lovely. The courtyard was a nice retreat with beautiful views.
It was conveniently located up the road from the main square in Gaia. Very walkable and close to transportation.

Perfect location to explore Porto

Excellent location to explore Porto. Close to World of Wines, the Port Houses and the river. The hotel has great design feature, combing a historic building with modern facilities. It is very clean and the reception staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was delicious.

Recently renovated hotel in Gaia across the river from Porto. The rooms on the ground floor that open onto the garden are very peaceful. There is no restaurant in the hotel but many very close to it.
Access by car is a little bit difficult, but most taxi services seem to know how to get there, although it is a one way street.

Great Location in Porto!

This was the best accommodation we had during a two-week trip! It was convenient in a very walkable area, absolutely gorgeous inside, and service was amazing! I definitely recommended it to anyone going to Porto and would certainly stay there again. The rooms were luxurious and very comfortable. The only thing that was less than ideal was having to find on-street parking.

Caleway Hotel, located on the Gaia side of Porto turned out to be a great location for us. Close to restaurants and the Douro River. The hotel was very quiet, clean and allowed for a relaxing atmosphere. A great location as we were able to walk to our ship on Ama Waterways. Breakfast was included with our room and a large selection of pastries, eggs, cereals and yogurt were offered. I would definitely stay here again.

New Questionable Hotel

Located in Gaia Area, right next to the Douro River. There were a lot of building works going on in this area so it is noisy during the day.

My Pros and Cons as follow

Pros
1. Professional friendly staff
2. Brand New hotel with new facilities
3. Easy access to the restaurants and bars
4. Very near to those infamous wine cellars if you are into wines.


Cons
1. Cleanness of the room. As you can see from the pictures there were dusts under the bed. They never cleaned once during our stay.
2. It does not matter if you stay for 1 night or 2 weeks. Only 1 bottle of water and 3 coffee cartridges were given. Any Additional water and coffee cartridges you have to pay for
3. Unfinished works were every where. The pictures you see on the website that hotel shows, there were there Great, but there were a lot of unfinished areas which were not shown on the website
4. Work notice in advance. They were doing some works on the roof but the hotel never informed us to be aware of. The soil was everywhere. I find it a bit strange that hotel did not inform the guests in advance.
5. Rather too simple breakfast. Do not expect fresh orange juice. It was very basic. You will get bored after 3 days.

Final verdict

You would be a lot better off to book somewhere else. There are a ton of better hotels in Porto. Do not be fooled by those amazing reviews. As a brand new hotel I think they lacked of providing simple service and environment for the guests. They have

Beautiful renovated boutique hotel. Converted from an old police station with the stone walls and tiles being prominent in the main areas of the hotel. Rooms are spacious and look out onto a lovely courtyard, for when the weather is good. Would definitely recommend and stay here again if I was in porto.

Wonderful Hotel.

Excellent Stay.
Staff, especially Anna was fantastic. Check in was a little bit longer, for my reservation was somehow not readily accessible. It eventually worked out, and Pamela got me situated, along with a lovely glass of Port.
The location is in Gaia and so convenient. We were able to access all the notes areas.
This is a new hotel, so there are a few kinks to work out. Nothing to change my review. They are working on the rooftop, hopefully it will be available for access next year. Breakfast was simple and filling. The hotel front desk recommended nice places for dinner and other things we wanted to do.
The room and bathroom size were midsize and worked just fine for us.
I will definitely stay at this property again.

A signature place with great hospitality Value

Shortly following our arrival Hours, we decided to extend our stay. The place confirmed our choice criteria and amazed us. A historic old building Conversion as a boutique hotel including a beautiful and sensitive modern building extension. The newly completed hotel by it self is a beautiful creation to be surrounded by.
More over, the so sweet self-managing owning couple and their dedicated team, has made our first time visit to Porto a wonderful experience and memorable. I would highly recommend the place and surely would choose it becmy stay next visit to Porto🙏🙏🌷🌷

Great hotel, owner super cool. Beds were simply phenominal. Rooms are small but did not mind. It is a new hotel with a few kinks. Shower overflows into bathroom floor, no shelf for tolietries in bathroom, maid service spotty some days no replaced coffee, sugar, no clean glasses left, etc. The bar patio needs some umbrellas to invite folks to the patio for afternoon cocktails. The biggest issue Wi-Fi, I know the stone walls are an issue. While on vacation I was trying to run a business back home & literally impossible with the interruptions of Wi-Fi. All of these issues will get fixed because the owners are professionals who care about guest. Best breakfast ever

A new hotel open in May of 2019 - everything is brand new and nice. The location is on a side street with good food in the first couple blocks, but only 3-4 blocks from the main riverfront with all the tourist activities. The world of wine experience under construction now, is located just behind the hotel and most port houses are within walking distance.

Excellent structure and location

Excellent location and structure, with lots of light and very beautiful rooms! Near the river, in the heart of Vila Nova de Gaia, extremely close to the historical bridge and Porto's city center.
Extremely welcoming staff, they did whatever they could to help us get in our room earlier than initially foreseen.
Beautiful breakfast, too.

Torel Lenscape is incredibly well located in the Guindais area, with impressive views over the D. Luís I bridge and the Douro River.

These magnificent views are, in fact, the inspiration behind the hotel's name and the development of its basic concept. The project was designed to tell the recent history of Portugal, where each room will be associated with an iconic moment, portrayed through striking photographs of Portuguese history.
