It was in a great spot and had a wonderful view. You just have to go up a lot of steps to get to your room and that view. There is a wonderful tapas / Wine bar next door called the wine box, that I recommend especially if your vegetarian.

I stayed in the studio apartment. The room was spacious with a small kitchnette that included a stove, mini fridge, tea kettle. The shower while a little small, always had hot water, so that was a win for me. I had the breakfast option included in my stay and the breakfast included fresh orange juice, coffee, yogurt bowl, cheese, ham and baked goods. The guest house has a cute coffee shop on the main floor. For a couple of early days where I had an earlier start than breakfast service (which starts at 8:30am) the staff was kind to pack me some baked goods to go.
Location Pros:The guest house is located a block away from the river and very close to the Luis I bridge. So the location is great if you want to be near the water. I loved being able to walk by the river early morning and late evenings, so I found the location convenient.
Location Cons: the guest house is located right next to a tunnel, so you definitely will hear cars/bikes revving and honking (though the shutters do help muffle the noise) throughout the day and night. To walk towards the town center you will always be climbing uphill, so be prepared. If you want to stay near town center and not climb steep streets everyday (most out of city tours run from near city center), I'd recommend staying in Sao Bento area. Also, there is no elevator in the building, which I didn't mind as I only had a carry on and only had to climb one flight of stairs to my room.

I loved my stay here. The room was clean and cosy, with a cute little window seat. I don’t mind traffic noise so that didn’t bother me. Bathroom was a bit of a tight squeeze, but if that’s the worst I can say it’s a pretty good sign. Bed and linen were comfortable and yes there are stairs, but again if you know in advance you can plan accordingly. I found the staff to be super friendly and the surrounding area couldn’t be better for a Porto visit!

The hotel was very cute and well kept. It only has stairs, so keep that in mind that you'll have to carry your luggage up flights of stairs. The room had a little kitchenette with a stove and fridge. The bathroom wad clean with great water pressure. The shower is tiny, so if you are a larger sized person or have mobility issues this may not be the place for you. The hotel is right on a busy/noisy street below. Cars were honking and motorcycles revving late into the night. I had read previous reviews and was prepared with earplugs. But I can and did sleep through anything and had no need for the earplugs. The hotel is very centrally located and within walking distance to most everything. It is also easily accessible to public transportation. I was a solo female traveler. It felt very safe, even returning late at night. It is connected with the cafe next door. The staff could not have been nicer, more attentive, or helpful. They also paid attention to my daily breakfast requests, which was delicious and filling. Would absolutely stay there again. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

My Ribieria Guest House is situated in the middle of a World Heritage neighborhood and is a very desirable place to stay. The building has been carefully and tastefully updated with all the modern conveniences except there is no elevator, so take note. The stairs were not a problem for us.

The guest house is very centrally located in the Ribeira area and the room was spacious, lean and the bed was comfortable. The price was a steal. The staff were very nice to deal with and breakfast was delicious. Excellent coffee. My room was on the third floor and there was no lift so got a bit of exercise in as well. I knew this was the case when I booked so was prepared for it. Because it is central and on a busy street, it is noisy but I felt the location more than made up for that.

It’s situated right above the tunnel / road into Porto, so all the cars, motorbikes and traffic noise is right in your room as right below your window. So when you look out it’s like a mini motorway!

I had an amazing stay at this hotel! The room was spacious, equipped with a kitchen, utensils, and toiletries, which made it feel like a home away from home. The breakfast, which was included, was quite good, and the staff were very accommodating. The hotel itself is chic and beautiful, and it’s conveniently located near the bridge, a popular tourist spot. I also appreciated that the drop-off point was right in front of the hotel, so I didn’t have to walk far. My only complaint is that there’s no elevator, and my room was on the fourth floor. It was my mistake not to check about this before booking, but climbing up those stairs did leave me winded every time. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel for older guests.

Our room at My Ribeira Guest House was the perfect stay for a couple of days in Porto. It was very cozy, yet hip. The provided turntable was a very nice extra touch. We listened to Fado and old Disco while the light rain splattered outside. We had everything closeby at a walking distance; the river and bridge, the old town, shops and restaurants. The staff also pointed us in the direction of the neighborood of Aforada, where we ate incredible seafood in a small-town setting. Highly recommended.

Great experience! Very friendly host, wonderful cafe on the ground floor for breakfast (owned by same people), great location. It is right next to the tunnel, so while there is some road noise, the shutters close on the french doors and it blocks it out well. The view of the river and fortress across the way is very nice!! 10/10

Great stay in a hostel (albergue) setting, reception personnel excellent. Choose private rooms it’s not expensive and you get privacy. Bus stop is 5 to 10 min walk from rooms. Things to consider taking waterproof shoes, light rain coat and an umbrella. Awesome place wouldn’t miss this trip.

There are however tow down sides, all rooms are reached by stairs with no lift and we struggled to carry or cases to the third floor. There is quite a bit of road noise as the hotel is situated at the mouth of the road tunnel. This said we would definitely return, a little gem. Next door is a brilliant wine bare (The Wine Box’ serving excellent wine and food, they also offer tasting sessions, a must for your visit. Hotel arranged an airport transfer for 30 euros 👍

My Ribeira Guest House was perfectly positioned to walk around the old part of Porto, and was very close to the Ponte Luis I bridge that takes you to the port tasting rooms and the other side of the Douro River. Breakfast every morning was great, the room was comfortable, spacious and tidy (I loved the interior decor, and noticed the locally made wool blanket and pillows from Burel!). The room was lovely and clean. The bathroom is super tiny, one has to close the entry door before the dhowet door can be opened. Also. There was not a word about the steep stsirs to a 3rd floor unit. I am 74, husband is 77. I would have never booked this if I had advance knowledge. Luckily we are git and agile. The checkin is run out of the coffee shop next foor which closes at 5. We finally found it at 6:30. Anna waited for us, but she was on her way out the door!

Walk up, no lift, weekends are very noisy due to traffic through the street tunnel below and horns honking and motorcycles reving. The Staff are incredible and actually make up for any shortcomings. Overall it was a nice stay in Porto.

Check in was easy and the staff was friendly. Unfortunately the communication after check in was lacking due to Porto’s annual São João festival. We couldn’t get into the building late at night and tried calling and texting the emergency WhatsApp line but no one responded to help us. Others were stuck outside too. There was no apology or concern the following day to make sure we were ok. We didn’t sleep well that night due to music blasting on the streets outside (not the hotels fault).
Overall this hotel would probably be nice to stay at any other time. The rooms were nice but the record player didn’t work and there was no coffee or kitchen utensils offered despite having a kitchenette.

The hotel room was clean, cute, and exactly the right size for a solo traveler. I loved there was a kitchenette. Communication with the host was efficient and they were very accommodating.
The biggest negative was that the hotel is right next to a tunnel and the traffic comes through at all hours of the night and the cars revving their engines are extremely loud. Despite everything else being wonderful, I had a very hard time sleeping each night and would not recommend to anyone who is sensitive to noise while sleeping.

The place is great however, there’s NO elevator and you have to carry all your stuff up. We staid on the 4th floor which meant 8 flights of stairs. Is not my ideal place to stay considering the town Also is very noisy it is right next to a tunnel and the car’s hunk all day n night the city trucks start work at 7:30 am You can hear the other guests go up n down the stairs. Some people are okay with that it was hard for us. Even though we had help for the person downstairs when we arrived.

Location is top notch- enjoyed being close to the river and still in walking distance to all the neighborhoods of interest. We worried ribeira was too touristy, but this was off the main drag and didn’t feel too touristy at all! The staff was delightful and helpful with recommendations, storing bags post-check out, etc. We read many reviews about noise being too much - while we heard traffic through the windows throughout the day, we slept soundly! Don’t let it scare you away from this gem (or just bring ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper).

This was a wonderful hotel in the heart of Porto within easy walking distance of the bridge to Gaia, the historical parts of the city, and the main meeting spots for many tours. The staff was lovely - Fernando helped us with suggestions for meals and things to do. The room was spacious and lovely. While the street sound is certainly audible, honestly there wasn't that much traffic at night or even the early morning which allowed us to get good rest. We would stay here again!

This property had great service and the room was clean and comfortable. Really cute! The only real drawback was the noise outside. It is on a busy Street at the mouth of a tunnel. There’s a bar across the street that is adorable but had many people enjoying themselves outside until the wee hours of the morning.
