In particular we liked:
When we arrived there were some portuguese tarts and glasses of port. If you wanted, there was more port in the reception area.
Spotlessly clean throughout.
Good location - just a (steep) 10 minute walk to the river. Lots of restaurants etc nearby. We really felt we were in the middle of everything.
Whilst there was no onsite receptionists or manager we always had a quick response by to any query we had.
Not so good
Noise! We were room 1 in the first floor. This meant we were right over the front door which people slam at all times (even though there is a notice in the door). Plus the stairs are open plan to the kitchen - reception so if anyone is talking either downstairs or on the stairs case you will hear it. Unfortunately to get to the other bedrooms, everyone goes past the room so you can hear every conversation being held.
Towels were a little threadbare
There is a kettle in the room but no tea/ coffee. So wasn’t quite sure what the point was ? There is a kitchen area downstairs but it’s made very clear you can’t use it.
The rooms are small - but we were aware of this. However there was nowhere to put your case in the bedroom and apart from one small rail no where to unpack to.
Overall though it was perfectly adequate for a short visit to Porto.
