There are almost no horizontal surfaces available and there are almost no hooks to hang towels or clothing. The door locks need modernization. Other than these minor inconveniences, it's an excellent hotel in a convenient location across from the main train station, a five minute ride from the center.

If you're arriving in Porto by bus or train, this is a fantastic option that is across the street from both the bus and train station. It is a quaint hotel with very helpful and courteous staff! I loved how it felt like a bed and breakfast even though it's a hotel - that's how nice the staff are! The bedrooms are quiet and well-appointed. The small bathroom is functional and has the amenities you would need. The breakfast has many options for food with fresh juice and a good coffee machine - and the bread is amazing! The location couldn't be better for travelling around Porto. We bought a train/transit pass for 72 hours and it was well worth it! The train will take you into central Porto in one stop - and to come back you just take any train and it comes back to this hotel. The hotel might not be in the centre of Porto but sometimes it's nice to get away from the hustle and bustle and explore a different part of the city. Plus, it's super close to transportation to take you to other parts of Portugal.

We rented 4 twin bed room. Spacious with large clean bathroom. Returned early evening and enjoyed a beer in lounge area. Also bought delicious breakfast with many options for 8 euro per person. A small hotel offering friendly service. Breakfast well worth the charge - croissants big enough for two! One comfortable public room serves locals and residents alike at modest prices. USB sockets are built into the hairdryer bracket in the bathroom. The room was kept spotless during our three nights stay. Being an older building, its windows are quite small and ours had opaque glass and opened onto a light-well, so no view, but those like us, who prefer to be out exploring Porto, will not find this a problem. Room heating/aircon is controlled by the guest via a remote handset and works well. We heard no noise from the street outside. There are plenty of nearby eating places and closeness to Campanhã station is a significant advantage.

About 4 stops from Trinadade metro station. Costs less than €2 on the metro and then you are in the centre. Lots of bars and restaurants near the hotel. Its deffo a bit further out than i normally go but the local dining is great and short walk to Metro id deffo book again

This Hotel has had the most comfortable bed so far on my trip. I had a room on the front overlooking the Railway Station. I choose this Hotel because of it's closeness to the Station as I arrived and departed by train. Breakfast was included in the tariff. There is no lift in this hotel but the stairs were easy stairs.

I picked up this hotel for a night sleep to grab a very early train in the morning, staff is very helpful , everything was very clean. It is not a modern hotel but they did all they could to modernise and give confort to their guests. The price is also very good. I recommend it as it SUPER CLOSE to the train station.

Conveniently located for onward travel right by Campanha Railway Station, the Hotel Poveira makes an excellent base for those who plan to explore Northern Portugal and Galicia.
The family who run the hotel are lovely people and nothing is too much trouble for them.
There are several little bars and restaurants located adjacent to the property so getting a snack, drink or meal is absoutely no problem.

A great stay at the Poveira
Only 5 minutes walk from campinha metro station is hotel Poviera and easy to find. From the moment we were met at reception by the delightful Angelica we knew we would enjoy our stay. The room was clean, tidy, spacious with a good sized flat scree tv on the wall, plenty of storage space and beyond our expectation of a 1 star hotel. All the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The room was cleaned along with fresh towels and toiletries provided daily. The hotel is well located with the main train station across the road giving access to portugals rail network and travel between towns and regions, while to the left is the metro station giving full access to all areas of this wonderful city, rail and metro travel within the city is exceptionally cheap and efficient with metro trains every 5 minutes. A selection and decent range of restaraunts and bars are available around the hotel but the best night life is undoubtedly in the city and around the port area, just 3 or 4 stops down the metro line. I would definately recommend this hotel for a short or budget break, the only thing i would change would be a kettle and tea/ coffee making facilities in the room, however the staff were more than happy to let us get one from the breakfast room downstairs. All in all we had a fantastic time at this hotel meeting some wonderful people and will definately be returning.

Convenient Location at a Reasonable Price
It would be difficult to find a more convenient accommodation to Campanhã station than this hotel. We had a late arrival and an early departure and we only had to walk across the street both times. It was about a 30 minute walk into the center of Porto but there were plenty of restaurants and other services nearby. The internet service was inconsistent but let us do the basics. The building was well-worn but clean and the restroom was spotless and especially well maintained.

We stayed here for a night as we arrived late from Lisbon by train. The hotel is just right across the road after we came out of the train station. Basic equipment is available - soap, towel, wifi. Room is relatively clean and simple. Price is reasonable. It is also close to the metro station going into the city. Did not try the breakfast so I cannot opine but I noticed there are quite some restaurants near train station in the morning.

The hotel is right across from the train station so the location was perfect for our needs. --Being across from the train station also simplified a quick trip to the center of town; public transportation is the way to go.

If you like the idea of staying at traditional old-time European family-owned hotels, Proviera fits the description. If you like bog-box American-style McLodgings, you might not. It has the feel of an old-time movie set. Most of the staff speaks English (\"do you speak English\" in Portuguese is \"fau engleis\"), but there sometimes are minor language barriers. The hotel is steps from a Metro stop straight to the airport for e2,80, and there are several cafes and family restaurants with Portuguese food you must enjoy.

Great location right by the Oriente train station and Metro but the internet was marginal. 3 euro breakfast and plenty of cafes in the neighorhood. Standrd one star hotel but our double twin beds was actually a triple connected through the bathroom which gave us a little more privacy.

Hotel Poveira is a basic place for a quick stopover, but it is clean and safe and located less than 100 yards from the train station. As such, it is very good for late arrivals to Porto. I would stay there again.

This is honestly a great deal for the budget conscious traveler. No, there is no elevator and the shower is weak but it's in a lovely building, typical of Portuguese architecture and very convenient due to it being right across the street from Camphana. This is a great, inexpensive place to use as a base for exploring Porto. It is just across the road from the railway and metro station. If you like rubbing shoulders with the locals then this is the one for you.

Huge Value for money near Train Station
This isn't a fancy hotel, but it is huge value for money. The hotel looks like it has seen better days, but it was comfortable. You can pay 3 euros for breakfast, but you should tell them the night before; we didn't know, but they accommodated us anyway. My friend and I got a room with a private bathroom for a very good price. There isn't much to do or see in the vicinity of the hotel, but you will find mini-markets and many small cafes/restaurants. However, you can't beat the location transportation-wise. If you arrive to Porto by plane, then you take the subway and there is no transfer to make for you to get there. The subway station is more or less (probably less!) 5 minutes on foot from the hotel. Then, the train station is right cross the street from the hotel! So, whether you want to travel inside Porto or out of town, you are close to the metro(subway) and train stations. If you like walking, then you're just about 20 minutes away from downtown on foot.

Cheap, clean and cheerful, value for money
Hotel Poveira in Porto is really value for money,we are a retired couple and wanted somewhere cheap to stay for one night while visiting Porto from Lisbon where we were based. The hotel is opposite the station which is why we chose it and an easy walk into the centre of Porto.
Would highly recommend it, the breakfast is also value for money, but if you prefer there are cafes around.

The owners were very helpful,The neighbourhood wasn't anything great but the hotel is right by the train station which is why I booked it. The room was basic but ok.

Old-fashioned family hotel
I really liked this old-fashioned down-to-earth family-run hotel. The location was the most important factor for me -- near both the Campanha metro and train stations. It was perfect to get to on the metro from the airport, and also to take the train out of town, as I was visiting family out in the country. Clean, not expensive, no elevator, but good luggage carrying service, as well as nice continental breakfast for reasonable additional charge.
