Very good for the low price!

The owners were very nice and extremely friendly. They were very accommodating during our stay and ensured our room was ready early on our arrival.

The building is an old grandeur house with elaborate staircases and high ceilings. The room was spacious enough with a bathroom built into the side of it, as it would've originally been a very large room. It was cold outside in winter and the heater was kept on the whole team and heated the room well. This worked better than a more modern AC/heating system than another hotel that we stayed in was using.

The breakfast options were adequate being freshly pressed orange juice, cereal, yoghurts, fruit, bread, cheese, ham, hard boiled eggs and pastel de nata.

It is about a 15 mins walk down to the front area of the bridge and Ribeira and about a 15-20 mins walk to the city centre area of Bolhao or San Bento train station. Alternatively take an Uber or 5-10 mins walk to the metro. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants within walking distance. These are cheaper than the city centre and full of locals so felt more authentic.

Lovely b+b with great helpful staff - they answered all questions and made the break special to celebrate my birthday - walked miles but lication of b+b great as a base - lovely bar at end of the street that sells vinyl.

This guest house is in an old tiled house with many steep steps and approximately 8 rooms. It is charming, very clean, has excellent owners who speak many languages, provides a good cold breakfast and is in a quiet neighbourhood with local shops and cafes within a block’s distance. Our room, number 5, had a comfy double bed in a charming rounded room with very high ceilings, small bathroom with good water pressure, and traditional wood shutters. We stayed in May 2025 and, although Porto is building its new pink metro line, we loved Porto and wished we had stayed three nights, not two. My advice is to stay here, be careful of pickpockets, learn a few Portuguese words, bring ONLY comfortable walking shoes, practice climbing steep steps, buy the hop-on-hop-off bus tour, visit the local beach area to see the bay dolphins, drink plenty of water and get lost in the old town. Enjoy.

I love this little gem of a hotel. It’s about 15 minutes walk out of the centre of
Porto. The rooms are lovely. I stayed in the one in the photos & it’s perfect. Everything is spotlessly clean and it is quiet at night. Breakfast is a buffet which was lovely. It’s a family run business and everyone I met was lovely. A perfect little place to stay in Porto

The location is great as it's less than a five minute walk to restaurants and shops. The room we had was okay it was very small. There was no room to put your suitcases, etc. The bathroom lighting was terrible as most hotels/other are. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was quite good. We enjoyed our stay in Porto.

Lovely guest house. The staff were very friendly and the location is about a 15 minute walk to the main areas of interest in Porto.
I have to be honest though. I didn’t get much sleep whilst here. There is no soundproofing at all in the rooms. I would even hear people talking in the rooms opposite the hall, not just next door.
The noise eventually died down at 1am to then start up again by 7am.
If you get disturbed by noise or are a light sleeper I would not stay here, but otherwise it was a lovely place to stay.

If you are a traveler who delights in learning about each country the way the locals live, come to Dukes Corner Guest House. The place is clean and has all anyone would need to be comfortable. The location is excellent to the buses and trains, a short walk only. The only caveat I would add is that this is a 198 year old property, according to Fatima who has worked there for several years. She and the rest of the staff are what made the whole stay worth every effort to get to Portugal in the first place. The caveat: Stairs. Lots of them and rather steep. If you need an elevator, go elsewhere. If not, enjoy the warmth and hospitality of a \"real\" hotel.

My friend and I stayed here for three nights and it was a wonderful experience! The hosts were incredibly kind and attentive, always making sure we had everything we needed. The room was comfortable and clean, and the morning breakfast was delicious.The town center was within walking distance, perfect for exploring. Would definitely recommend Duke’s Corner for anyone’s vacation plans in Porto :)

A little gem in Porto

Thank you to Fatima and her delightful team for making us so welcome. We already miss you! The guest house is superb and located within walking distance to all of the sights in Porto
Obrigado for making our stay with you very pleasurable and the little touches of 'Port' and 'Chocolates' in our room were very thoughtful.

Amazing Hospitality in Lisbon.

The building is beautiful and excellently restored. It is the perfect combination of historic charm and modern comfort. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. What really made the stay amazing though is the staff - Luis, Fatima and the breakfast staff were all amazing. They were so helpful in giving recommendations and were very kind to our children. The location is very convenient to all the sites. Additionally, there are restaurants and stores nearby.

This guest house is pretty good! It's around a twenty minute walk from most of the tourist attractions in Porto, which gives it a pretty good feeling of what Porto is like outside of that district (conveniently a couple blocks away from a laundromat!). Our room was acceptably comfortable (on the third storey, no elevator), but I was disappointed in the small bathroom. I was happy with staying here.

The guest house is located in a residential neighborhood of the city, not right in the heart of the more crowded center. I chose this guest house because I wanted to avoid staying in the busiest downtown area, so this was fine with us. There are some great local restaurants and a couple of metro stops within walking distance. The guest house is wonderfully restored with some blueprints on display in the reception area for architecturally minded visitors. The suite that fits a family of 4 is pretty, very clean, with a lovely little balcony overlooking the street.

Light sleepers may find the street noise or early morning seagulls will wake you up - we are already city dwellers used to constant traffic on our block.

Breakfast is plentiful and delicious. The owner and staff are genuinely friendly and very helpful. Thanks for a lovely stay. We didn't have time to see everything we'd hoped to, so we hope to make it back to Porto soon.

Not so superb.

I made the reservation hour and a half before the arrival. We arrived at 8PM but the door was closed. After I called the properties phone number it took 15 minutes before somebody came and helped. We did not get into our room until 20:45. Room has small bathroom was a home-made flimsy built-in unit. We could not keep the window open because of a midnight trash pick up, dog barking on top of all the regular city noise. Breakfast was to be served 8 a.m. but was 15 minutes late. Breakfast was okay but brought out very slowly. One lady could not keep up. We stayed in the \"good\" places for less money and enjoyed better service and better anemities.

What a wonderful place to stay .. near the metro with local cfae and bars but without the hustle and bustle of central Porto, and touristy prices. However ... dont be put off - the area is undergoing some regeneration , so some roadworks and building updating in the area. The Dukes experience is fabulous, polite, exceptional local knowledge, very welcoming. The rooms are modern, minimalist, with just enough of evrything to make for a great stay .. the bed and bedding are superb .. excellent quality throughout. No fancy unnecessary extras .. super breakfast in a lovely open airy room, with subtle touches like an orange juicer, and fresh pancakes as well as fresh pastries ... It is also possible to buy wine for your room or the lounge area at very good prices and quality. We cannot rate our experience here highly enough .. the owner and two young ladies who looked after us did so with the greatest of ease and kindness .. loved it!

A delightful guest house near the centre of Porto. We had the family suite and it suited us as a family of three perfectly. Friendly welcome and our host treated us to a glass of port and took endless trouble to tell us about what we might visit in the city. Good breakfast and easy walk to see all the sights of Porto. Bonus that we parked outside for free.

Quiet, suburban location

We only spent one night at Duke's. Having spent three nights in a busy part of Porto, with much noise and action, Duke's location was calming and pleasing before heading on to Lisbon. We were able to still walk 15 minutes to the river front of the Douro from Dukes. The staff was friendly and helpful, calling for taxis and giving suggestions. The room is quite small, so if you need space, this is not the place for you. It is really one single room, a corner of which is taken up by a bathroom. If there had not been a small balcony, I would not have had enough air. The room includes a free breakfast.

Convenient guest house in a leafy neighbourhood

Good location - walkable to city centre and metro, yet in a leafy, quiet, safe neighbourhood of pretty, tiled buildings that's interesting in itself to explore. Single room is very small so if booking for a treat, it's worth considering a double if available. Staff are helpful with directions and info. Breakfast is available and there are also cafés nearby.

We Liverpool beat Porto 5 - 0. So the game was great for us. I really enjoy this city as the people are so welcoming. Steep hills in the old town but can easily get about. Pity that it rained all day Wednesday. Good beer and food at reasonable prices. definatly go back again. YNWA.

Spotless guesthouse. Great value for money.

We are a childless couple in late thirties and do a lot of travelling and short breaks. We decided to stay somewhere cheaper this time it being post Christmas blues and all that. We found Dukes Corner superb value for money. I can think of much to fault really... room and other facilities were always spotless, breakfast was very plentiful with lots of options, it was very cold and rainy in Porto and the room got a bit chilly, but when I asked they immediately turned the heating on. It is about 15min walk to the old town but PLEASE do explore other parts of Porto too!!! We wandered all over the place to the east and north of the guesthouse too and loved it!!
Highly recommend the guesthouse to anyone wanting a good value stay in Porto.

Located in a quiet, safe area near city centre.

Decided to stay at Dukes Corner Guesthouse during our visit to Porto and it was definitely the right decision! It is based in a quiet, safe area about 10-15 minutes walk from the city centre. The building itself has so much history and both the exterior and interior are an architectural delight. Our room opened out into a small (beautifully tiled) balcony, with steps leading down to a private patio - complete with flower pots and a hammock! The room was clean and the bed comfortable. Although the bathroom has been built within the structure or the room, this added to the quirkiness of the place and by doing so the owners have retained the character of the place. Staff were always helpful and polite, taking the time to answer queries relating to places to visit, directions, etc. Appreciated breakfast being served up until 10am so there wasn't the pressure to get up too early, even though we did make most of the opportunity to see and experience Porto. When, not if, we return to Porto, Dukes Corner Guesthouse will be the place where we will once again choose to stay.

Attractive hotel pleasant location

A very nice welcome from the owner who gave us a short introduction to Porto and a quick orientation over a glass of Port.
Getting around was easy and a walk into the Old town pleasant but we appreciated being a little away from the busiest part of Porto at night. The hotel has a maintained its charm but has been updated so that everything works smoothly, We would definitely go back to Dukes Corner

The Hotel was in a very poor residential area, views were a dilapidated abandoned house or the municipal rubbish bins,and very noisy, if your a light sleeper this hotel is not for you .It is about 10 minutes from the Historical area and a long walk to the Sanderman Cellers did not time it but over 30 minutes..
The service was good the hotel staff very Friendly,
The breakfast was Okay but not great.
Price I think was inflated this cost us more than staying at the Mundial Hotel in central Lisbon .

Would I use this Hotel again....Got to give this one a NO..

A wonderful place to stay in Porto!

I thoroughly enjoyed my week here. The location is perfect, just a 5-6 minute walk from the center, which means it is much quieter than staying right downtown while being busy enough to feel safe walking alone after dark.
Luis, the owner, is very available to answer questions and he can provide excellent sightseeing advice. All of the staff that I met were charming, with the clear aim to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
Dukes Corner is not a generic chain hotel, but a unique guest house in a recently restored building. To stay here is to truly experience Porto, especially if you follow the advice given by Luis and his team.

Duke's GH - Brilliant Place!!

This guest house is an historical building which has recently undergone extensive renovation. The staff are full of enthusiasm and are very helpful - the place is great! Nice welcoming atmosphere - beautiful breakfast and really good tips on where to go and what to see plus welcoming drinks! Really nice owners here - I look forward to going back!

A propriedade é exatamente como nas fotos, o que foi muito positivo. A equipe foi simpática, mas o check-in foi bastante inconveniente. Cheguei por volta das 18h e precisei esperar 20 minutos na rua por alguém para me atender. A ausência de um funcionário na recepção no horário combinado demonstra falta de profissionalismo. Após a proprietária ser localizada, fui atendido com cordialidade e a situação foi resolvida. No entanto, a demora inicial deixou uma má impressão.

Ein schönes, kleines Hotel, fußläufig aus der Innenstadt erreichbar. Gutes Frühstück, auf Wunsch mit Rührei und frisch gepresstem Orangensaft.
Es gibt aber auch etwas zu Meckern: Es gibt entgegen der Beschreibung keine Parkmöglichkeiten vor Ort (die sind weit weg), man kann aber auf der Straße parken, wenn man was findet. Das Bad war ein Plastikwürfel im Zimmer. Die angepriesene Klimaanlage existiert nicht. Trotzdem eine Empfehlung.
