This is an absolutely lovely apartment and has been kept very well.
There was a member of staff around for advice and they speak excellent English.
My only concern was prior to arriving that I was not getting responses to my messages, but once I arrived, the staff were fantastic.

Room was great but you’ve got to know that if you are driving and plan to park, it’s hard. The entry is incredibly narrow. Larger cars absolutely will not fit. The way out is better as you will be aimed right, but if you don’t pull in correctly from the street you are in trouble. TROUBLE. Pull in and hug the left side, do not center the car on entry or you have to adjust, heading downhill around a curve. We joked we had to live there forever because we wouldn’t get the car back out after getting it in. Renault Captur, maybe 6 inches clearance on either side. If you are used to driving in extremely tight spaces you will be fine or if have a Smart car otherwise just park on the street.

Anyways, the location is awesome can walk to the Ribiera area and others easily. The garden, pool, hottub are incredible. Secret Garden vibes. You can have breakfast delivered, nice. The room was clean, really tasteful, huge windows that opened over the garden courtyard area. Friendly and helpful staff. The road it is on doesn’t look great if arriving at night like we did but in the AM it was much better. Urban area- places open in the AM making street cuter. We walked out of the area each day and loved our stay. Porto is great, I would come back and rent a smaller car (laughing and crying at the memory, such a good story)

This was the best place we've stayed at on our trip! The apartment is so spacious (it has 2 bathrooms!) and beautifully decorated. It's well equipped with modern facilities, yet still reserves the old charms. The building also has a lovely backyard with a pool. The location is perfect - close to most attractions and a few min walk to Capela das Almas de Santa Catarina and Bolhão market. Highly recommend!

Lovely older style hotel with a winding wooden staircase up the middle. The elevator/lifts worked well.

Service: Great service from the friendly front desk staff. Special shout-out to Vinicius, who was particularly friendly and helpful.

Room: The room was on the main floor with a kitchen, living room/lounge, and half bath. Bedroom and full bath one floor down. Very spacious, clean, with cleaning staff every second day.

Bathrooms: Half bath was clean and modern. Lower level bathroom had a sink, toilet, shower, and towel drying heater. Modern and clean.

Noise Levels: Very quiet. Our room faced the main road, but we didn't notice any noise.

Internet: Unsecured, which was concerning.

Location: 5-minute walk to the grocery store, 10-minute walk to the major metro station. Great location, 15-minute walk to Ribeira and other attractions. Cafes and restaurants nearby.

Amenities: Lovely back courtyard with a pool. Too chilly to use the pool, but enjoyed sitting outside with a drink.

Kitchen: Reasonably well-equipped, but the knives were not sharp. No larger style coffee mugs.

Value for Money: Good value for the price given its amenities and location.

Safety: Felt very safe in the hotel and surrounding area.

Extras: Small gym and comfortable lounge area.

I would definitely return.

We checked in quite late on our check in day, there was no hotel staff to meet us but this was pre-conditioned in the information provided prior to our trip.

Our apartment was on the street level, with our windows directly next to the pavement. We didn't feel very safe, people kept walking past and hitting our windows. We decided to keep them shut, which was another problem as when we had arrived, the radiators were all on and at max heat. The whole apartment was baking, very stuffy and uncomfortable.

The towels provided were just slightly bigger than hand towels and there was only half of 1 roll of toilet paper.

We stayed the night, but booked a different hotel for the rest of our trip and checked out the following morning.

Also, as a side note, the ramp down to the parking garage is VERY tight and very steep. Our car (Ford Focus) only fit with the mirrors folded in and with very slow movements with guidance from my partner. We also burnt out the clutch on the drive out, as we had to wait for the gates to open and again had to slowly maneuver our way out the structure.

People who complain about parking should have researched the area and Portugal in general. Small cars are a huge benefit.

Booked this hotel due to convenience of having an onsite car park but was told that on day of checkout 5th Sep it may not be accessible so had to park elsewhere.

Also was charged 30 euros for an additional person despite me informing in advance and the booking confirmation stating it is £16.13.

Late checkout requested last night but they cannot confirm until this morning, so I need to go and ask again.

Everybody else is ok and it is a nice apartment.

Spacious and clean property. Close to central Porto and the sights. The lounge area was a little disappointing as there wasn't enough comfortable seating for 4 people and the walls were bare and boring. It didn't really matter that much as we were out a lot but it was a shame as the apartment was very nice in all other ways. Great air con and wifi.

The area around the hotel is quite ugly but then so is quite a bit of Porto. It's actually prettier, in my view, staying in the Villa Nova de Gaia as then you have a nice view of the terracotta roofs.

I would not recommend anyone to park in the car park. I was driving a compact SEAT leon and the entrance to the car park was only just accessible if i turned in the wing mirrors and had 3 people guiding me in. It is also incredibly steep adding to the stress on the experience together with incredibly narrow parking spots when you eventually get though. There were numerous vehicles in the car park with scrapes along the sides of their cars or wing mirrors hanging off.
Best to either avoid bringing a car or park in one of the public car parks because it is a horrendous parking experience!

A lovely apartment hotel near to the market and public transport.

A lot of great local bars and restaurants very nearby.

I would not hesitate to stay again.

Up to you if you want the breakfast, it’s fairly basic and there are such nice cafes and bakeries near by you could pop out for fresh pastry and the like easily every morning.

We, a group of friends, spent a rainy October week in Porto. Staying in Aparthotel Oporto Alves da Veiga was a very good choice, as the place has an exceptionally good location and very nice apartments with all convenience of a home. But the biggest asset ( in our humble opinion) is reception manager Joana. She is the hostess every traveler could dream of: welcoming, professional, resourceful. Her knowledge of the area and readiness to happily share it made our stay even more enjoyable and efficient.
We highly recommend this hotel and it will be our hotel of choice when we come back to see sunny Porto.

We have had an excellent and comfortable stay at the hotel. The staff was friendly and the check in was smooth. The room itself was comfortable with a lovely kitchen. The location was brilliant which is not far from everything. We mainly walked to the places we wanted to go. Uber is easy if you get tired of walking around the hilly Porto. The building itself was renovated to a good standard. I particularly love the staircase right in the middle of the building itself. Also, the garden with the pool is just a bonus when you just wanna chill out in the sunny afternoon.

Our stay here was excellent! The hotel is located in a quaint street just a short 15 min walk from the train station and some of the major sights. The building is a hidden gem: a beautiful winding staircase, gorgeous decor, and a garden that will make you want to stay there all day. The AC and elevator were also a huge plus.
The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. They even gave us great suggestions for local restaurants.
I highly recommend this place!
P.S. Check out Tomás Cofee Brunch for breakfast. It’s a 3 min walk from the hotel and the food was wonderful.

FABULOUS - Don't miss this hidden gem

If you come to Porto, stay here! I can't say enough good things about this hotel. From the communication before we arrived, to the free parking, to the fabulous location...but that doesn't say enough! The friendliness of the staff was beyond belief, and our wonderful (enormous) room with the terrace overlooking the street provided us with so much enjoyment! We opened the door to our beautiful room to find that we'd been given an AMAZING upgrade (the staff didn't even say anything at check-in...it was just a kind gesture) and immediately ran out to the terrace to enjoy a bottle of wine and the views across Porto's beautiful rooftops. The terrace was big enough that I was even able to exercise in the sunshine outside before having my coffee from the wonderful machine they provided us. It was a brief stopover en route to the Algarve, and our only regret was that we hadn't planned to stay longer to enjoy the beautiful garden and pool on the property. We WILL return to Porto, and we WILL stay at this hotel. It's a must, and I can't wait to come back. Thanks to the staff for their kindness and humour!

We have stayed at the hotel twice and have had 2 different rooms. Both rooms were very roomy and perfect for families. The units have a kitchen so you are able to make your own meals if you would like. Plus a good size freezer and refrigerator. The staff is very friendly and will get your into your unit early if they can.

This hotel may not have street presence (aside from its fantastic front door) but then the street doesn't initially appear appealing... However it's a real gem.
Behind the original facade of the historic building are modern appartments with all that we needed. Most of the city's sights - and loads of places to eat - are within walking distance; and the garden and pool are a delight.
The reception staff were particularly helpful with suggestions and advice.

We enjoyed being close, but not too close to much of the main area of Porto. It was all very walkable and nice to have the pool. Also awesome that it had 2 full bathrooms and 2 levels for sleeping. Lower level had a closed off bedroom which opened up into the main space with a murphy bed and full bath. For a longer stay, it's nice that it had a full kitchen.

Overall, this is a nice place but way over priced for what it is. They have the basics and nothing more (we had to buy toilet paper, dish soap, salt/pepper, coffee, etc). The kitchen had the very basics to cook with - which is why we chose to stay in apartments rather than hotels on our vacations.
Pool isn’t heated and our apartment faced an incredibly noisy road (couldn’t hear anything if the window me were left open).
We won’t stay here again or recommend it.

I chose this apartment because it looked as if it had character and I wasn’t disappointed. The street outside looks a bit shabby but once you are through the big front door the entrance, stairway and the apartments are well decorated, have quirky features and are very clean. Ours was at the front of the building and therefore we did get some noise from the street. Ana on reception was very welcoming and gave us lots of useful information which helped us enjoy our weekend in Porto. The 2 day yellow bus ticket with boat trip and cellar visit was good value. I would recommend these apartments and they are in easy walking distance of the main sights, bars and restaurants.

Apart hotel hide away in convenient spot

Looks very unassuming from the street but a little oasis with a beautiful garden and pool in the courtyard and at the rear. Very spacious apartment with good double beds and perfect bathrooms - all modern and well fitted. Staff very helpful and keen to assist. Only disappointment was failure for continental breakfast to arrive in morning but money refunded without any fuss and no problem as plenty of cafes nearby.

We were not impressed by the check-in as we arrived an hour after the time the hotel told us the room would be ready, but still it wasn’t ready, so we had to walk around the town for an hour so that the hotel could prepare our room. However, apart from this, we got a duplex room and it was spacious and clean. It’s really a good value for money and it made our overall experience there still great.

Arriving there was easy. We took the Metro from the Airport to the Bolhão station and the Hotel was a 4 minute walk from there. We were greeted by Aida, the Hotel manager. She was very helpful in providing us with all the tourist information we needed for our stay.

The room was comfortable. It was on two floors with the kitchen, living area and a bathroom upstairs and the bedroom and second bathroom downstairs. The room was well equipped and clean but there was construction next door which was outside our window so it was noisy every morning.

Very enjoyable stay in the well equipped apartment in Porto. The restoration of the old building has been tastefully carried out - there are all the modern facilities but within a great older building with high, ornate ceilings. Very convenient for supermarket and all the shopping in the centre of Porto. Metro stop handy and excellent system for getting around.

Accueil impeccable
Appartement spacieux et propre.
L'insonorisation est médiocre. L'hôtel compte sur la délicatesse et discrétion des résidents : tout bonnement impossible.

Apartamentos bonitos y cómodos. Es una finca antigua reformada.
Piscina mejorable, bastante sucia y con el recubrimiento bastante deteriorado.

It is a nice clean aparthotel, with friendly employees.When something like kitchen needs or towels were incomplete, the receptionist directly made it in order. We got lots of good tips from the receptionist for our stay in Porto. We recommend this aparthotel to others.

Un séjour merveilleux à Porto !

Séjour d'une semaine fantastique !
Appartement très spacieux, possibilité de se faire à manger, très bien situé à proximité du métro et du bus, très bonne communication avec le personnel, piscine au top dans un petit jardin très mignon, parking disponible (attention à l'entrée étroite).

Nous avons séjourné 5 jours dans cet aparthotel, dans le penthouse 2 chambres. L'accueil est très bien, le bâtiment très bien entretenu, et la chambre est très bien décoré et spacieuse.
Nous avons apprécié la vu sur Porto, la piscine pour les enfants, et mes petits déjeuners copieux.
De plus l'établissement est vraiment à 2 pas du centre historique de Porto à pieds, mais aussi d'une station de métro si besoin d'aller un peu plus loin. Le parking est un réel atout.

A estadia da minha família foi muito boa, apartamento é ainda melhor ao vivo do que nas fotos, todo reformado com equipamentos para a cozinha novos, com cozinha super completa. Pessoal do atendimento muito solicito. Foi maravilhoso, voltaremos em breve.

Sehr empfehlenswert! Zwar hatten wir ein Apartment zur Straßenseite (beim nächsten Mal würde ich ein Apartment zum Garten buchen), aber alles war sehr sauber und der Service war super freundlich und hat uns wertvolle Sightseeing Tipps für unsere ersten Tage in Porto gegeben. Besonders hervorzuheben ist auch die tolle Lage der Unterkunft, da man schnell im Zentrum war und alles perfekt zu Fuß erreichen konnte. Da wir leider eine kältere Zeit in Porto erwischt hatten, konnten wir den Pool nicht nutzen. Zusammenfassend kann man sagen, dass wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt haben und uns abends stets gefreut haben, wenn wir nach unserer Tour wieder in unserem vorübergehenden „Zuhause“ ankamen. Ich bin mir ziemlich sicher, dass wir eines Tages noch einmal hier sein werden! :)
