Great get away spot in Porto

Great location, wife and i needed a retreat from the hussle and bussle of Porto and this provided it. Strongly believe its a great spot to relax with own tucked away pod, dark, and cool when needed with comfortable bed and amenities, but great common spaces, spa, pool, restruant and common area. Also very well situated in Porto. Highly highly recommend.

The location was absolutely perfect , super central and easy to walk to all the main attractions. The hotel’s concept was really well thought out and gave it a unique, modern charm. Tons of restaurants and cafés close by, so you’re never short of options. The staff were super friendly and helpful throughout my stay. Honestly, such a convenient and enjoyable place to stay .I’d definitely come back!

Convenient loaction, about a 7 minute walk from Bolhao and Aliados Metro stations. It's at the top of the hill, so it's an easy walk down towards the Baiza and Ribeiro areas. There's a Microbrewery and Bolhao market right around the corner. Room was clean and comfortable. Shared spaces were nice. As long as you're the type of traveller who spends their time out and about exploring, this is a great place.

An excellent low budget option particularly for younger travellers especially for a shorter stay(3-5 days). Boxes or rooms were clean and clutter free.

Try This Place!!! It's Unique.

The room was clean.. towels were great. Staff was always friendly and helpful. The lounging areas were an added comfort. Excellent location; close to everything! The lockers were so usedul, an added bonus where it made things easy for guests! Excellent concept.

Fantastic experience! Great place to stay if you're trying to ease into your travels. As someone who flew from Vancouver Canada, I found that it was a the perfect environment for me. Extremely friendly staff, great facilities, the bathroom could have been a little bit more pristine in terms of cleanliness, but that's just me being knit-picky. The only major uh-oh moment was cleaning staff unlocking my door and walking in on me while getting changed (A couple hours before my checkout time, too). Other than that, a near perfect experience. Highly recommend!

The boxes were very cozy and quiet. Small but had everything you needed. The rooftop with the plunge pools were nice. We ate at the restaurant and the food was good. The bar has a nice lively vibe. We had an unfortunate accident one night in town and the staff were so very kind to us when we arrived back at the hotel. It was a great stay!

I liked the staff and amenities. My room had a constant buzzing sound. I was only sleeping there for the most part and exploring the city so I could ignore the buzzing but a light sleeper would have a problem. I did not tell the staff until checkout - again, I could sleep through it so wasn't enough for me to complain - the gentleman at checkout said it might have been the air conditioner and they'd take a look. Great amenities and friendly staff. Clean room. Near a lot of things.

It was our first experience in a concept hotel, and it was definitely a positive one. There are no rooms as such, but rather ‘boxes’ with no windows or natural light, so if you intend to spend most of your time in Porto in your hotel room, this isn’t the property for you. The idea is to make use of the shared spaces… and it was great! I must admit we didn’t eat at the restaurant or use the bar, but there is an amazing terrace with two small pools, a sauna, and a couple of places to chill. It’s an extremely interesting place. An honourable mention to the staff members who did a great job. Thanks

Bed bug thrive here

Bed bugs thrive at this hotel. My belonging all got infected with bed bugs due to bed bugs thriving in wooden environment. It was one of the worst expiences in my life. When I told the receptionist they didn't seem to care and made no effort to make amends. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

Basic accommodations, 80€/night for 4 nights. Great location, though a little hard to find tucked in the corner. Cool design, good vibe, great staff.

The box lodge can afford a higher standard ti the cleaning procedure, the money that was saved when avoiding costs in televisions and furniture. This will need to be addressed soon or the build up will require complete replacement of materials. The affordable wood will rot in the Porto humidity/

We have stayed here previously and recommended to friends, it was comfortable, well priced for location and quirky. Still really like the concept and hotel however we were a little disappointed this time. The air conditioning wasn't working and we informed reception on arrival as it was 26.5 degrees in our box, the ceiling vent was also broken so no air at all in the box. V uncomfortable. Reception advised that air conditioning yarts working when temp hits 24 degrees? This wasn't the case and we felt fobbed off. Seemed to not understand what we meant by the vent, no attempt to repair or come and check it out, we were not offered alternative room. Said he would call company to repair and no further action. Reported again to reception following morning and again told that air con was broken across whole hotel, that they would report and then change our room, we went out for the day, when returning it was another receptionist who stated she hadn't been informed..we requested to move room and she assured us air con was working. It wasn't and another uncomfortable night sleep in a hot box however vent opened but then we awoke due to noisy customers. Following day still no sign of repair and another customer complained in the nighttime. Air con then came on at 11.30pm.on our final night, was set to 20 and didn't then turn off. Not sure what occured this time but it was uncomfortable and bad service. The hairdryer didn't work in room. Would return however they need to ensure listen

It's an interesting take on minimalist - and very very economical - way to stay! This was hands down the most economical place I could find at the time of my travel and I'm glad I took advantage of it. The bare wall bathroom and \"no window, just a box\" theme certainly isn't for everyone but if you are looking for an efficient, and quite honestly sufficient, place only a few minutes walk from Bolhao market/via Catarina shopping area and/or 5min from Sao Bento station, this place is a find. It worked out great for me bc I had two day trips that started from Sao Bento and ended in Praca Batalha area which is also close. Facilitates are really sufficient. Shower was good. I do recommend having flipflops ( because the shower floor is more concrete than tile) which people don't usually need for an ensuite bathroom. Self operating lockers for storage after the check out. Staff very pleasant, they monitor the front desk 24hrs. No communal fridge but they were happy to hold my few cold items in the fridge in the back overnight, which was very much appreciated. I didn't get to utilize the communal areas in the 5th floor but the concept of bring your own movie to hook up to a big screen/stereo is brilliant. I did think that the area right outside of the place was a little run down, not dangerous in any way, just in \"some neighboring lots are empty so it looks sketchy at night\", kind of way. Again , the theme is not for everyone, but for the location and price I would return to stay.

Great for pictures but not comfort

We’re pretty flexible travelers and genuinely looked forward to our stay here both for its vibe and price point. But we quickly discovered it’s a glorified hostel. The rooms were sweltering hot with no means to cool them down meaningfully. The bathroom was moldy. And we didn’t get a chance to explore the sauna because we’re pretty sure we walked in on a couple really putting it to use…. But the bar and restaurant downstairs are great, as is the location. So you get what you pay for.

The side street this hotel was located on was a bit sketchy, but very close to the main road. Staff and the quality of the hotel was great- definitely geared toward an under 45 crowd.

Rooftop pool was unavailable due to maintenance which was a bummer.

There was a considerable amount of mold in the bathroom of my ‘box’- around the base of the shower and in behind the sink. The industrial aesthetic, dim lighting and absence of windows might lead one to overlook it.

I would stay here again on a solo trip but the box might be tight for two people.

Location was fantastic. The bed was really comfortable and the bathroom had hot water forever. It was a little claustrophobic (it is a box- they’re not exaggerating) but the bigger room seemed ok. It’s well laid out and well appointed. The restaurant is top notch and great value. The sauna is a great touch as well for weary travelers. The roof top is also quite nice. Staff is superb and very helpful.

Cons:
It stands out as the hotel with least amount of basic decent amenities. The bath towels were so poor quality that looks more like a rag. Even the toilet paper was of such poor quality that’s unrivaled. The room doesn’t even have a telephone. No safe deposit box.

To top it, the air conditioner will auto switch off after awhile. Let me repeat. It switches off. It does not restart after it warms up. It simply shuts down. We were told they had taken care of the problem but never did resolve it.

Staff attitude was ok. Hotel will only make up the room if u request at reception desk on day u want it. Even then they forgot to make up the room.

This is definite minimalist paradise. For the rest - look for something else. Very little room with cozy bed, well organized restroom/shower, easy to use lockers (very convenient if you need to store stuff before check in or after check out), friendly 24/7 desk. Some reviews mentioned it could be noisy due to younger partying folks being main clients but we stayed there on Monday and it was quiet (have to admit though - in case of noise it would be heard everywhere). There are also nice places to relax and or party on the top terrace but we were just two and preferred to wonder around city.
