Beautiful apartment in ideal location, close to all nearby attractions. Cleaning could be better. Kitchen was well stocked and had washing machine. AC not great, we had front apartment so was pretty noisy as it was facing the street. If light sleeper request back. Overall enjoyed the stay and book this place again.

Great short stay in the apartments. Had been modernised but still had some of the original charm like the shutters and stone wall accents which was nice. Host was in contact with self check in details and instructions were very easy to follow and he checked in on us following day. I had asked about luggage storage and never got a response but nearby shopping centre and metro had lockers. Apartment was in a great location close to shops, restaurants and metro and walking distance to all major tourist spots. Kitchen was very well equipped if you prefer to eat in. The 79 steps up to the apartment was a bit of a killer after a long day of walking and there was a lovely dressing area that just lacked a mirror and with a teenage daughter that would have been perfect but all in all a great stay and would return

Great apartment in an excellent location, within walking distance of many of Porto’s main attractions. The apartment was clean, comfortable, and a good value for the price. The beds were comfortable, the air conditioning worked well, and communication with the staff was excellent throughout our stay.

The space is best suited for one or two people since there is no separate bedroom. A few minor repairs and updates would improve the apartment, but overall we had a very positive experience and would stay here again.

Amazing location right next to the fantastic market & v close to metro / buses etc. (though Uber so cheap in Porto that's not so important).

Check-in via a series of lock boxes (as they've no permanent reception on site) was easy enough & not really time dependant (despite the numerous emails/texts requesting a specific time for check-in prior to our arrival ??).

Apartment is absolutely fine. Decent sized space with lounge/kitchen, bedroom & private showroom/WC. Kitchen works fine & we used it a couple of times which was handy. Apartment is obviously well used/a bit tired, but kept clean & tidy enough for us (we can cope with a bit of mould in a shower tray etc.) - more of a posh hostel than an apart-hotel in that sense I guess.

We reported a couple of issues on arrival which were part-sorted quickly & without fuss. Communication was good & helpful.

Air con is required as it gets hot quickly on sunny days & unfortunately one of the two units leaked quite badly so we couldn't use it.

If you're a couple used to hotels looking for somewhere to spend time between exploring Porto, this might not be the place for you. It feels like it might be better suited for a group of two/three/four on a budget who are looking to share costs, happy with a sofa bed (in addition to the comfy double) & won't spend too much time there other than sleeping & a quick coffee / breakfast.

It suited our purposes for 2 nights on this trip but we probably wouldn't return with other options available.

Excellent location across from Balhao market with many other restaurants and cafes nearby. Not insanely far from the river.
Only complaint is the apartment has some wear and tear. Bathroom shower leaked onto the floor a bit and there was some mildew on the drywall in the bath as well.
Overall, would stay again but don’t expect a five star hotel here.

We had a very nice loft apartment with heating and air conditioning. It also had a kitchen which was convenient, and located right next to Bolhao market and a short walk away from everything. The check-in process was really easy and the host messaged us with instructions ahead of time.

The staff was quite responsive. The flat is in a great location - literally across from the Bolhão market! We couldn't quite give it 5 stars because the kitchen wasn't stocked very well (lack of any paper products, and just one kitchen towel), the toilet ran constantly (hopefully that has been fixed by now), the sofa bed was not super comfortable and not easy to tuck away during the day. But if the measure of a good flat is whether or not one would come back, we would, we would just be aware of some of the issues.

I love this place. It was our second visit.

The bed is comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped, the Wifi is adequate for light use but not suitable for Zoom calls or streaming.

The location is fantastic and with the road outside now a pedestrian zone, it's lovely and quiet. The double glazing was very effective.

My one gripe - and it is important - urgent attention needs to be paid to weatherproofing the building. We were there during Storm Claudia and water was literally running down the walls by the window. The wallpaper hanging off the wall confirms that this isn't a new problem and I strongly urge the owners to get this sorted as it must be damaging the building quite signficantly.

Also, be aware, it's nearly 70 steps to the third floor which doesn't seem a big deal when you arrive but this three-dimensionally hilly town really takes it out of you and those 70 steps can feel like 700 at the end of the day.

Alex, who greeted us was absolutely brilliant.

This place has exceeded its usable lifespan and needs some serious maintenance. There was mold in the shower, mold in the main room, fixtures were held together by electrical tape, fixtures and furniture were literally falling apart. Location is great and the place was quiet but we would not recommend this place to anyone, especially those of us with allergies to mold!! Lots of better options in Porto.

This property is right across a cobblestone street (no cars allowed) from a large market, and shopping along the street.
Unit is compact, but had room for what we needed, one could easily stay comfortably for a month
No elevator which was fine with the exception of check-in and check-out.... they did help with lugging the luggage upstairs. This hotel was very responsive via email. Questions were answered very quickly along with helpful suggestions.
I would stay here again.

Highly recommend - just a few niggles

The location for this place was excellent, the lovely host was there when she said and very friendly. Communication before arrival was excellent. We had booked the loft which was on the top floor. A little bit painful at times when we forgot the low ceiling beams but we managed to avoid them by the 2nd day. The shower was a bit tight for space and the doors didn’t shut that well, but we coped for the 2 days. Loved the ceiling fan instead of air con! Kept us cool. Good to have a washing machine and a drying rack. Bed was slightly too hard but not a fault if you like your bed like that. The only negative for us was the numerous flights of stairs - it was hell climbing up every single time! We are in our 60s so this will not be an issue with young guests.

Absolutely fantastic apartment, right next to the indoor market, a minutes walk from the metro station and a street away from shopping. Only a short walk down to the river, bridge and riverside restaurants and many other attractions are within walking distance. Communication from both Sofia and Alex was brilliant before and during our stay. The apartment is very clean and the beds are comfortable. Our room overlooked the market and although busy during the day, was quiet at night so had a lovely feel about it. The kitchen contains everything you need, even a washing machine and a couple of washing pods are supplied. Supermarkets are very close if you are eating in but there are many fantastic eateries all around. We especially liked the Time Out Market at São Bento railway station for choice of food. The bathroom contains a good shower, with plenty of hot water and there is shower gel and soap, as well as toilet roll supplied. Sofia met us when we arrived (early) and the room was ready and made up for us. She also supplied us with a map of the city and directed us to lots of incredible places to visit, which we did. They were also able to store luggage both before and after check in/out if needed. We thoroughly enjoyed everthing about our stay in Porto. Thank you

Amazing location, easy to find, instructions of check-in sent day ahead were clear and easy to understand. Very comfortable bed, lots of towels, lots of books and dvd to choose from (even though dvd player wasn't working and all dvd were in Portugese). Salt, pepper, oil, vinegar, coffee and tea provided. They could improve on cosmetic side of the apartment (fresh paint to cover water damage on the walls) and more instructions could be in the apartment how to use Aircon to warm up the room . Also there is no elevator so it's not reachable for people with walking difficulties.

Great location for getting around. Located on a pedestrian mall, so you have to figure a way to get your bags from parking to/from across city streets. Be prepared. Alex was helpful getting us oriented. Shower almost impossible to use. Slow in getting it fixed before we checked out feeling slightly stinky.

Location is amazing. However, to get into the apartment, we weren’t able to locate the property manager due to our late arrival. We waited for 30 minutes and plenty of phone calls. During our stay, we ran out of toilet paper and we didn’t see any property manager during our entire stay after the first day of check in. Really lovely apartment though. Very functional. Will stay there again, just wish they have better communication for check ins.

Pros: Joana and staff were excellent. They will help with bags and provide a map of the city, note where to eat, tour, etc. Any time we had a question it was answered quickly. You'll be given an android cell with up to 60 mins of free calls each day (very nice!), some tour/hotspot apps and recommendations, etc, and internet access, but it was restricted from full use like your personal cell. WiFi is provided on property, with one hotspot for each floor. Room was very clean.

Cons: There is no elevator, we had to walk up 80 stairs to the loft. There's no AC or windows for air circulation in the hallways, so you'll be winded and sweaty every time you enter and go up to your room (I'm in shape, and it's still quite a slog in the stuffy hallways, especially carrying luggage). There's no clothes washer or dryer. WiFi for the top floor was very spotty (1-2 bars), it would go in and out on all our devices no matter what time of day. The large market across the street won't be done for at least another year, there's a lot of construction and the road in front of the apt is blocked off. You can drive a rental onto a portion of the road, but you can't park - that's a few blocks away, they charge 10 euro/day. There are seagulls/birds who create a HUGE amount of noise throughout the entire night, right outside the top floor windows - bring earplugs or you won't get much sleep.

Thanks Joana for an amazing stay. Comfortable room very spacious, comfortable bed We didn’t use the kitchen facilities. The apartment has a phone for use while you’re there with 30 mins of international calls per day, while we didn’t think we’d use that we called our elderly fathers who don’t have smart phones. The phone also has personalised apps with restaurant recommendations giving phone numbers for reservations as well as map directions- it nearly went flat after a day out and about. Joana was so helpful and couldn’t do enough for you- she even wanted to escort me to the local post office for stamps just so I found it. She directed us to the BEST Portuguese tarts that were close by and they were amazing. Parking is close by and there are a few options. The market over the road is being renovated but only during day hrs and didn’t impact our stay at all. Would definitely stay again.

Brilliant location with everything we needed

The location was perfect; metres away from Bolhao metro station (no changes required from airport) and within walking distance to all of central Porto. Duarte and Joana were both welcoming and helpful for our whole stay. The room was immaculately clean, very well equipped (down to ice cubes in the freezer) and had plenty of room to settle in for the week. I loved the coffee machine but ran out of pods and bought the wrong ones at the shop so be sure to only buy the same brand.

The bathroom, although not pictured online, was clean with plenty of towels, a hairdryer, handsoap and shower gel provided. The glass shower cubicle had good power and hot water.

I have only two small complaints. One is that it was extremely hard to avoid hitting my head on the sloping ceiling twice a day when getting on the bed. I am 5'4\" so took the low side but even I gave myself a few good knocks when forgetting to crouch down. I understand it is a loft so options are limited, but it might be worth rearranging somehow to get the bed elsewhere. Second, the air conditioner was quite loud. I would still happily stay in that room again though.

We had the apartment on the second floor. Great modernly renovated apartment. Joana, the property manager, checked us in and was lovely. Property provides a smartphone for your stay with recommended restaurants, sights to see, wine cellars, etc with google maps so that you can navigate to each. Apartment was cleaned well every day.

The only drawback we found is that the bathroom smelled like sewage, perhaps as it is an older building. This didn't detract much from our stay as everything else was great. Would stay here again.

When to assist my daughter who had finished her Erasmus year and the accommodation was ideal as we both had separate sleeping areas. There is a supermarket a few minutes away and it was like a home from home experience. The staff were very friendly and were most helpful
We were able to leave our suitcases in a locker which was perfect!

Bolhao apartment

Welcomed by Paula on arrival who showed us around the apartment and offered to point out on a map the local sights and eateries including where to have ‘the best’ francesinha (it was amazing), traditional Portuguese food in a local family run restaurant (the offal and white bean stew was really good), and of course pasteis de nata.
Apartment was spacious and well laid out, bed was comfy, extra towels available. Wood floors a bit creaky in certain areas, but to be expected. The people in the second floor apartment were a bit heavy footed at times but we were out exploring most of the day. We didn’t use the kitchenette except the coffee machine and fridge but appeared well equipped including microwave, hob and dishwasher.
Good WiFi connection. They also have a phone with app installed you can take out and use with maps and sights (we had inclusive minutes and data so downloaded the app onto our phones instead).
Apartment within walking distance of major sights in our opinion; we walked everywhere, but Bolhao metro station is on the same road (direct train about 35min to/from airport) and there is a bus stop outside.

We stayed for 7 nights while visiting Porto and northern Portugal.
The department is in across the street from Bolhao Market and 40 yards from the entrance to the Bolhao Metro which is the line that goes to the airport..
Within walking distance to all major sights in Porto.
The staff is very nice and helpful.
The building has been fully renovated. There is not elevator and if you get the 3rd floor apartment as we did, be prepared for some extra exercise.
The apartment has an agreement with a departmental store for parking at 10 Euros/day. which was helpful.

First off, the location of this apartment is great! It is right by the metro station that gets you to the airport as well as a 10 min walk to a major train station if you plan on training around to Coimbra, Lisbon, Aveiro, etc. The area is pretty quiet at night (not many restaurants for dinner) BUT is bustling with people and open stores (bakeries, restaurants, markets, SHOPPING) during the day. We were very happy with it.

Check in & interactions with the staff were awesome. They were attentive, kind, and really aimed to please - even left us some pastries one morning! Check in and check out were both very smooth.

The apartment itself is cozy and has everything you need. It was incredibly cleaned and well maintained, though it is slightly older feeling than the super modern/chic apartments you might find elsewhere. For myself & my parents though, it was more than enough for our 3 night stay! We were very happy with our time here. We love porto!

This property is in an amazing location, right near the historic market and close to lots of great shops and restuarants. The apartment itself has everything I could imagine needing as a traveler. They even offer a library of movies to borrow. A cell phone is provided with google, google maps and an app created by the apartment company to help travellers with restaurant recommendations and tourist informatuon. The staff is also amazing!! The cleaning staff keeps everything very clean and neat. They even hung up our laundry which we left in the machine that morning before going out to tour. When we checked in Joana was extremely kind and helpful, even booking us a restaurant that we hoped to go to and did not think to book before arriving. There was not one single thing that was a negative about our experience and I can not recommend this property highly enough. Don't hesitate to book it!! Everything about this place is WONDERFUL!!!

Good place to stay for lots of different reasons

There are many good things about staying in Bolhao Apartments. First, it's really easy to get there from the airport, which is only 20-25 minutes away on a metro line that stops 3 minutes' walk away from the apartment (and which has up and down escalators), and amazingly the ticket costs less than 2 Euros. Also, the local metro stop offers connections to five different metro lines - and the sixth is only one stop away. So it's easy to get around the city if you don't want to walk.

It's not situated on one of the quays overlooking the river and the iconic Ponte D Luis I... it's up at the top of the hill. That might sound disappointing but it means that you don't always have to walk UPHILL (or take the funicular) to get to most of the main sights. Some (for instance Avenida Aliados, Capela das Almas) are on the same level and accessing many more (like Se Cathedral, Torre dos Clerigos, Livraria Lello, Igreja das Carmelitas) only requires you to walk down gentle slopes.

I also liked the fact that the apartments are located in an old building in a residential neighbourhood, with the Mercado Bolhao food market across the road, a Pingo Doce supermarket one street away and lots of high quality delicatessen type shops all around. So you get to see a slice of local life if you stay there.

Lovely spacious apartment great location

Lovely stay apartment was immaculate and comfortable. Great location in central position to all attractions. Only a couple of minutes from Balhao metro station. Joana could not have been more helpful showing us the apartment and then taking time to tell us about all the attractions on a map of Porto. The apartment also has its own phone for guests to use during their stay. Full of useful information about attractions and restaurants etc. Exceptional service. Guests should note there is no lift in the building. Thank you we hope to visit again.

Loved this apartment.

We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The location was wonderful and Joanne was so helpful. I wasn't quite sure how this would work because it was apartments. We received an email prior to our visit with all the information. Joanne was there to greet us and give us helpful information. I couldn't recommend this any higher and if we ever have the opportunity to be in Porto again we will definitely stay at Bolhão apartments.

The staff are very helpful in showing you the pictures and guiding you to see all the points of interest by foot in Porto. The apartment is located next to the market, 1 minute walk to subway, and one street away from the main shopping street. The apartment is even equipped with a quiet washing machine.

My new favourite place

One of my new favourites places! Porto is an absolutely amazing and beautiful city with so much to do. The BO apartment we stayed in made this trip even better. The apartment was fully equipped, modern, clean, comfortable and had lovely traditional windows which let in lots of sunlight. The staff were so helpful in anything we needed and were always making sure to cater for our every need. The rooms come with a smart phone that you can take out with you every day with a built in app with recommendations on places to go, restaurants to eat at and much more. The app then connects to your maps on the phone which gives you live directions as you walk! Free data, calls and internat usage meaning you never need to worry about finding your way around the city. Never seen any hotel provide this service before and we used the phone every single day and night. We didn't know about this before and it made such a bonus to our trip!

The location of the apartments is excellent with walking distance to most places. The metro is at the top of the street and delicious restaurants everywhere to walk to.

I don't know what could of topped this place and trip! We were a couple who stayed for 5 nights and I didn't want to go home. I will highly recommend Porto and BO apartments to anyone.

The apartment was really well located in the old city center near most POIs. Really well appointed. Light and airy nice bedroom with good closet, bathroom with smallish but good shower. great kitchen (even has washer) and living room . The nicest people will give you every imaginable tip on what to see and eat with incredible patience. Our apartment was up 2 quite long flight of stairs which can be a problem for some people so beware. Really the only con in a perfect apartment.

Great location, great appartment, great staff.

Location: its a great location. Its withing walking distance of most of the sights youd want to see in Porto. About 10 mins walk from the river. Plenty of places to eat and drink right beside the appartment. Also a supermarket right beside it.
Appartment: Really nice, good size appartment (2 of us staying). It was spotless and cleaned every day. Bathroom was a good size and kitchen had everything you need. Bed was very comfortable too.
Staff: This was one of the best parts, When we arrived one of the guys (sorry cant remember name) gave us tons of info on where to go and what to do. Gave us lots of really good recommendations on where to eat (local food), and this really made the trip nice. Also told us where to avoid due to high prices (though everywhere was cheap compared to Ireland!!). Also when it came to organising a taxi for the airport, I was pretty much uncontactable, and Joanna when out of her way to get in touch with me and sort a taxi in time. Really nice touch, which i wouldnt normally expect with appartments. Thanks for the great service.

Awesome loft next to Bolhao Market

It was a very personal check-in - staffer was waiting for us outside the building. He walked us through the unit and explained everything, including the free use of an Android phone with 30 mins of call time to anywhere in the world. He showed us a map and asked our interests and highlighted areas of interest/restaurants.

The loft has a kitchenette, medium-ish refrigerator and clothes washer that would make it a great place for an extended stay. Really liked the window and skylight (that could be opened) - offered nice views of surrounding rooftops/buildings. The window, ceiling fan, skylight and a/c unit (unnecessary during our visit) provided very pleasant airflow to dry our clothes and keep the space cool.

Charming Welcome at Bolhao

This was a great spot, despite the fact you had to hoof your suitcases up four flights of wooden stairs. It was great to have a little \"flat\" with a washing machine, after spending time on the road. And a gazillion television channels to have a wander through at the end of the day. However, the best bit was the incredible welcome and briefing that we received from the charming manager Joana Cameira. She got us set up with the \"inside\" scoop on restaurants, sights and such. She was terrific.

Great location, great quality and great service. Be prepared for a very challenging climb unless you are on the lowest floor. We had 6 flights of steep stairs to negotiate to our room on the third floor. It also has a fourth floor and no lift. A brilliant place to stay other than the stairs.

We were welcomed by Gian with a detailed map and suggestions for sights and restaurants. The maid service was superb. The metro is fast and we recommend the 24 hour zone 2 pass. We were 2 minutes away from a great shopping district.

A great choice

We had the small apartment on the rear of the building on the first floor. I suspect the back of the building is mostly quieter than the front, BUT this one backs onto what seems to be some kind of industrial until and if it were hot enough to have the windows open, it would have been too noisy for me. Luckily (?) the weather was far too cold for that.

The apartment is REALLY well designed and they seem to have thought of everything. I couldn't believe it when the lady who showed us around revealed a washing machine hidden under the counter. There was also a very nice Nespresso coffee maker. Kitchen equipment was good but for some strange reason, there were no bowls.

The bathroom smells a bit musty and could use an extractor fan system. Towels were soft and fluffy and the shower was excellent. The bed is very comfy but if you're considering having more than 2 people stay, there are no doors between the bedroom area and the sofa area.

The location is brilliant - right opposite the Bolhao market and a stone's throw from the Metro station.

The apartment comes with an excellent mobile phone/tablet which is pre-programmed with all sorts of useful information. You can use it for the duration of your stay and we found it REALLY helpful.

Great apartment in convenient part of town

We stayed in a one bed apartment which was spacious and well designed. It cleverly incorporated old stone features with modern design and had everything we could have wanted for our stay including wifi and a free phone to make calls! The area is quiet and has some lovely restaurants and bars within a few minutes walk. Paula met us when we arrived, talked us through some of the key sights and gave us some tips on restaurants in the area which were all excellent. The only down side was that our apartment was at the back of the building and had no view except a wall but not really a big issue given everything else was so good.

O quarto é bem espaçoso e limpo, com tudo que precisa para quem está fazendo pernada na Europa, o anfitrião foi muito atencioso e gente boa.
Os únicos pontos negativos é o fato do apartamento não ter elevador, o que não tem muito o que fazer por ser antigo e a tv, essa sim poderiam investir para que seja smart tv, o hospede ainda depende de DVD para assistir filmes, o que é algo ultrapassado no meu ponto de vista. Mas mesmo assim,eu recomendo muito.

O atendimento foi impecável desde a reserva, quando apresentei uma solicitação e fui atendido a contento.
O apto estava impecavelmente limpo, com troca de enxoval feita a cada dia de hospedagem, com total atenção a nossa comodidade.
A localização é PRECISA, próximo à todos os pontos turísticos de Porto.
Eles tem convênio com o Shopping Via Catarina, com preço reduzido, mas coo só deixávamos o carro a noite, usamos estacionamento na rua da Alegria, free até 9h da manhã.
A equipe nos recepcionou na porta em nossa chegada e foi perfeita até o último momento.
